First thing to say is that this site sets the standard that others should aspire to.

On arrival we were shown to our pitch and various things explained to us. Pitch was flat and well drained and the EHU was clearly marked with our pitch number, another plus is that the points have a low level light on them that comes on at dusk so no walking into them on your way to and from the immaculate toilet/shower block. Plenty of drinking water and grey water disposal points around the main field. Plenty of friendly helpful uniformed staff around the place at all times. The shop and cafe stock a small amount of essentials and meals are available either to eat in or take away. The lakes are well kept and looked after and you can buy some angling essentials also from the shop in the reception area.

For us it is the little things that can make or break a holiday, Sumners Ponds seems to recognize this and ensures that these are seen to for example plenty of hooks in the washing/shower area, locks that actually work on the toilet doors, ensuring that the toilet paper dispensers are always stocked up, gardens and hedges kept well trimmed and weeded.

Horsham, Guildford, Lewes and Brighton are all within about 45 minutes drive and are well worth a visit. There is a decent shop and a nice pub in the village and a couple more within a short distance.

We have booked a premium site on the lake for next year already and we may well get a couple of short breaks in before then!

As I said at the beginning this is a site that some other owners should visit and learn from!

Just returned from a wonderful 2 nights stay at Sumners Ponds. On arrival we were shown to the Rally field by a very helpful man who also told us where all the facilities were.

Rally field was quite busy for mid September, but tents are well spaced so you have lots of space. Even though it was a busy weekend, we never had to queue for a shower or the toilets. They were also immaculate, and I liked the way they had left cleaning implements so you could clean the showers after/before use. I think that being in the rally field should be cheaper as their is no ehu but it is the same price.

We did not use the laundry facilities, but they were all miele and of a good size for a family load. Although we did not have children there was a good sized play ground and plenty of green areas to play ball games.

The ponds were lovely to walk around and it was nice to have the cafe on site open until 9pm weekends and offering take aways! We only used it to buy snacks as we had brought food with us, but if we go again having that option is good.

Site is in a good location for some lovely sussex towns and villages. Beautiful walks in the nearby countryside. We would definitely visit the site again.

We've just returned from a weekend at this campsite, and it was wonderful!

We arrived on Friday afternoon, and because we didn't want EHU we opted for the rally field. There was only one other tent in there when we set up, but we were told it was going to be full over the weekend. We chose our own spot, and expected it to get very busy as time went on. However, they must be very generous with their pitch sizes, because in total there were no more than about twenty tents, which left everybody with loads of room.

The site itself is very well cared for. Don't think I saw a single piece of litter for the whole weekend, and the shower blocks were all spotless.

The shop had all the basics and there was also a cafe which looked nice, although we didn't make use of that this time.

There is direct access to lots of walks through woodland and across country, which were perfect for dog walking. Very nice walk to the local pub (approx 15 minutes) without having to go near the road.

The fishing lakes looked good, but on this occasion we didn't use them.

Excellent site, and we will certainly be returning. Highly recommended!

This site is very well maintained with excellent facilities, plenty of space and a small cafe / shop selling. It's great for a quiet family weekend. There is a wooden play area in the centre of the main camping field for the kids to congregate.

There are some nice little walks from the site to the fishing lakes through some woodland. We have visited twice and would do so again.

Have just returned from a four night stay with hubby and our two children and overall, this is a really lovely site.

We were shown to our pitch - which was enormous! We have a large family tent but we had so much room it was great and although the site was extremely busy, you really didn't feel on top of each other at all.

The toilet/shower block was lovely and clean and warm and I only had to queue once for a shower which wasn't a problem at all.

The children's play area is situated in the centre of the touring field and was a huge hit with my four year old daughter! My nine year old son preferred exploring the woods and getting mucky with his new-found friends!

The lakes were beautiful and seemed really quiet and peaceful. There is a rally field as well although there was only one tent in it when we arrived and that left the following day. I can't understand why that wasn't packed as well because although it didn't have ehu, it looked lovely and quiet.

My only gripe from our stay, was that you are given an information pack when you arrive which says all the usual things including asking parents to make sure their children are out of the playpark at dusk and not back there before 9am for the comfort of other campers but this didn't happen. Some children were out playing just after 7am and once or twice, there were lads playing football in the dark at 10pm kicking it into people's tents despite being told they could play in the rally field or the paddock. I'd like to see the wardens coming round or a notice on the field reminding people. It's only a small gripe but it does annoy me!

We would definitely return but I'd choose to either come out of high season, or to camp in the rally field or lakeside. Despite my gripe, my children absolutely loved it here!

We have just returned from a week at Sumners Ponds, the site itself is very good with views over the lake. The facilities Showers etc very good. The downside was we booked a Premium pitch on the main lake, we had to move because our pitch was booked for there Fri & Sat, we moved and the pitch we moved off was vacant for the 2 nights so we could have stayed there and not moved. After speaking with other campers they to had been in similar position and the understanding amongst whom I spoke with was that the booking system at Sumners Ponds is very erratic

This is my only grump with the site the fishing was good, the bailifs especially Alan very helpful, and the campers and caravanners were very friendly.

If the booking system improves we would not hesitate to return again.

We have just returned from one of our many visits to this site - it is by far our favourite in this area. The staff are very helpful and friendly, they are always willing to help and a great deal of thought is given to preserving the local wildlife which to us is always important on sites.
The site was busy - but as usual immaculate, no rubbish anywhere and the toilet block very clean. Fishing not too good this weekend but with the beautiful weather perhaps we were not trying too hard! The premium pitches on the lake are great - they are quite large (some seem a bit larger than others), all slightly different so it doesn't seem 'regimental' and all give anglers different challenges. For the size / condition of the pitches and the great amenities available, rates are very competitive compared to other sites in this area.

We have only stayed lake side - we have grown up kids now - so cannot comment on the playground area, but there are beautiful walks around the site and I have never seen bored kids here! There is a lot of 'open space' available for games etc.

The cafe is brilliant and the breakfast is a must for at least one day of the stay. The small shop sells basic provisions, but has quite a lot available for essential angling items.

The Queens Head the nearest pub to the site is an easy five minute walk down the main road (left out of camp site entrance) and is great. It has a real friendly atmosphere and serves reasonably priced food, which are large (almost huge!) portion sized. The village shop which was open to quite late (maybe seasonal open to late) is well stocked and is next to the pub.

Horsham is about a ten minute car journey away (there is a bus stop near the site entrance)and is a lovely small town with a huge variety of shops, eating places and things to do. There is also a large Sainsburys there.

We will be returning again in September - pitch already booked. This site is booked a long way in advance if you want a lakeside pitch, so booking for lake side is essential, especially at weekends and school hols. A small rally field is available in mid/high season which was well used on this trip and looked great fun.

For a quiet weekend on a well run site in a beautiful area we have put this site at the top of our list.

Bank holiday weekend camping with mixed weather in a fantastic location. Good sized pitches on well kept grass with a gravel perimeter which meant that cars coming and going didn't turn the site into a mudbath when it rained. Stunning location - on the hot days it was just so relaxing to get an ice-cream and sit admiring the views over the fishing lakes.
Good fenced in play area, although as a previous reviewer noted, only has long term appeal for younger children. The older ones though loved the freedom of being able to have adventures in the woods.
First time I have camped on a site where tents and caravans are mixed rather than in their own areas, but I liked that (very impressed watching all the caravans being manoeuvred into place with automatic gizmo's!) Staff really friendly and helpful - on paying the lady dealing with us reduced our fees as a member of our party was unable to join us for the first 2 days which gave us a very pleasant surprise.
A definate 9/10 site that I am certain we will return to. What stopped it from getting 10/10? A not very inspiring entrance and showers that were too hot for our children, and only just bearable for adults, with no option to change the temperature - not too much of a problem for a short stay but would cause difficulties over a week.

Great site - we only stayed one night as this was my first ever camping trip and just meant to be a practice trip, so I have nothing to compare this against. However, if all sites are like this, I'm really looking forward to the year.

The main camping field is pretty small, with only about 10 tent pitches and about 30 others, all with EHU. All pitches are centered around a small kids play area, which is really useful for any young kids while parents are setting up. However, no good for any kids over 7 or so.

The one shower block is impeccably clean and warm, although I didn't actually use the showers.

The best bit is the on-site cafe, with outdoor seating area overlooking a lake. They serve a good range of food all day, starting at 9am until 3pm or so (maybe later in high season). There's a small, expensive shop for any essentials.

Again, I didn't use them but there are several great looking forest walks and a good looking pub a couple of minutes walk away.

Wanted to go back in May but they're already fully booked, although they do have a rally field, with no EHU, available.

We have just come back from four superb days at this site and would highly recommend it.

The facilities are first class, heated toilet/shower block, drying and washing facilities plus a pan washing room all kept spotless.

There is lots of room between pitches with low box hedging separating them and electric hook up at no extra charge, the ponds are beautifully landscaped and well stocked and if like us you don,t fish your made just as welcome.

They have a shop/cafe next to the main lake which does very good food and even offers an evening take away, just out side the site is a post office and general store plus a very nice country pub with garden that also does good food and a wicked real ale lol.

Although the area generally does not have much to visit it is very well serviced by link rounds to the coast (about 20 mins). We will definitely be going back to this site.
