Had a lovely week at Sumner's Ponds, we don't fish but it is very much suited to anglers and we saw some huge fish being caught. We were in the Bluebell field which is a mix of hardstanding and grass with tents motorhomes trailer tents and caravans pitched up together. The pitches were spacious and level. There is a children's play area in the middle. The toilets and shower block were clean and warm with plenty of hot water. We ate at the Cafe by the Lake once and it was very good with friendly staff and nice views over one of the lakes. There is a shop and pub in the village as the camp shop sells mostly fishing supplies and does not have milk or bread etc. The Queen's Head in the village served good food and had a nice atmosphere.
The only downside was after the bank holiday weekend there was litter on our pitch and the grass was covered in the remains of water balloons and nerf gun bullets, but that is no fault of the staff or the owners.
We used the site as a base for trips to Brighton, Legoland, Arundel castle and mountain biking in Swinley Forest.

We stayed here as part of a group over the bank holiday weekend. We had three pitches next to each other on the rally field. The toilets/showers were some of the nicest I have come across camping, lovely and warm and somewhere to put clothes/towels so they don't get wet. There was also a mop and bucket which the vast majority of people used so the showers didn't get too dirty. There is a laundry room and also two large fridge freezers were you can keep food/freezer blocks.
We didn't use the playground, however there was a ball games area at the end of the rally field, which had goals. (The rules state no ball games except in the ball games area, which was fine by us, our kids quite happily went up there to play. ) The site is quiet after 10. 30 which was stuck to on the whole. It is on the Gatwick flight path, but the flights tailed off after 7/8ish. There are several friendly ducks who tried to get into our tents.
The cafe on site did great breakfasts, but service was quite slow, so allow plenty of time. Plenty of things to do nearby, we went into Brighton for a day and also the Amberley Country Museum. We got food supplies from Billinghurst around a 10 minute drive away. The shop isn't particularly well stocked.

There are excellent fish here and the facilities are first class however I would say look at the map on their website and choose your pitch with care. We stayed for a week as we wanted to fish so had paid for a premium lakeside pitch, unfortunately our pitch had fishermen on either side with 4 rods each and their lines crossed our fishing area leaving us about a 20 yard area to fish in. My other criticism is to do with car parking and security.
The pitches are not marked out and we came back from shopping one day to find a car parked at each end of our caravan by people who were visiting the café. On our last morning I was woken by people talking, got dressed and went outside to find 3 men and 2 women sitting outside our caravan next to the lake.
It is very expensive to stay and fish here but the food in the café helps to alleviate that pain.

Super campsite. All facilities modern and clean. Staff very helpful. We had a superb pitch at the edge of the Rally Field and Ribbon Lake. Only downside was the wasps but we fashioned our own trap and the situation improved.
Great for children on their bikes. Would definitely recommend to others. Thank you for a great stay.

My husband and I stayed in a standard pod, as a treat, rather than camping in our tent. The pod was a little on the small side especially once we had inflated our large camp bed. However, it was comfortable and very cosy in the evenings. It came with a double plug socket, electric lamp and small heater. There are a couple of coat hooks and a blind at the door. There was no covering at the small rear window and the blind was thin so the pod fills with light at sunrise! Outside the pod was a picnic table for us to use, which was handy.
The facilities on the site were outstanding. The showers (in the new block) were the best we have ever seen on a campsite. There are also two family/accessible bathrooms, a laundry, cold storage room and plenty of washing up areas. The other block was not as well equipped but convenient for the furthest field. In that field was a small play area for children.
The cafe by the lake was lovely. We ate there a couple of times and the food and service was excellent. We didn't mind the prices as the food was of such a good standard. There is also a bar and plenty of seating outside and in a marquee adjoining to it. The heaters in the evening were a welcomed addition. For those who don't wish to completely get away from it all there is free wifi available in this area.
Overall this is a lovely site with some nice walks through the woods and around the lakes. It has a relaxed atmosphere and during the week was quiet and peaceful. The only noise came from the ducks and geese that frequently walked around, much to our amusement! The pitches are well spaced out and most have a hard standing area. Unfortunately it rained a fair bit whilst we were there and drainage was not great but to be expected given its lakeside location. It did however make it difficult for our friends in their caravan and we were glad we were not in our tent.
A short walk away is a well stocked shop and a pub. Horsham is a 15 minute drive away. I'd recommend Sumners Ponds and we hope to return next summer.

We visited this site for a week in our tent. The site has a very good shower block(pretty new) and a very nice cafe / diner by the lakeside. The playground is very small and there isnt a great deal to do for kids on site unless they like fishing. This site has left a love hate relationship unfortunately.
The location is in a very lovely village with a local well stocked shop which will do pizzas to order make butties etc if needed and a local pub next door to village shop which is very close to site (not a car journey a 2 minute walk). The lakeside cafe as extremely nice food but is quite expensive but we went twice due to liking the 1st visit.
One thing that we didn't like was the price of ice lollies for children even though it was very hot I refused to pay £7-8 for 4 lollies that you could get from a supermarket for 10 for £2. 00.
The last thing that didn't spoil our stay but created us a real problem was the Canadian geese that pooped everywhere and anywhere which was extremely frustrating not just to us but the family next to us who found it very poor to say the least especially when trying to play football (with a sponge ball) / soft tennis etc the last thing you want is kids running in and out of tent with pooh all over there feet and it did create friction that wasn't needed.

This is my favourite site in the area and the investment in the shower and toilet block has made it a comfortable place to stay. Prefer to pitch in second field as more space there, rather than near the playground which is more suited to caravans.
I really like the fridge and freezer provision for campers as it is really hard to keep everything cold at the height of summer in a tent. Sometimes at weekends loud music can be heard late into the night from surrounding properties and the sound bounces off of the water, but this is the only negative.
We would definitely go back. The shop could be a little better stocked, which would improve it further.

Stayed for last 2 weeks in June on 1 of the premium angling pitches.
Site was really nice and the pitch was excellent and right on the lakeside.
Shower block is outstanding but was busy at the weekends.
Shop facilities are very limited indeed for groceries but fine for fishing tackle and bait.
Food in the cafe was of a good standard and staff were excellent but the menu was perhaps more restaurant style than some might expect on a campsite.
There is not a huge amount to do in the immediate area but we knew that before going and really picked the site for the fishing.
The fishing lakes are very busy and the pegs are very close together. Being on the main specimen lake there was some problems with crossed lines as some of the pegs face down the lake. I would say the average size of the fish in the specimen lake is smaller than advertised with the vast majority of the carp I saw caught being under 10lb however it is a beautiful spot. The smaller pond was very productive but also very busy and the top match lake which is a bit of a walk is very heavily stocked and the carp are really easy to catch with a fair amount of doubles and some bigger fish. This lake however is not open to campers everyday.
All in all I really liked this site and I guess it's very busy because it's very good and there are so few sites with proper lakeside pitches.

Lovely site, improved since our last visit. Toilet block is outstanding with fridge and freezers available for campers. Husband and sons really enjoyed the fishing. Fun quiz night in the cafe/bar and bands/singers booked for most Sat nights in June - great food too.
Was lovely during half term week but got noisy on the Friday night. There was a very noisy group behind us who were apparently told 3 times to be quiet but were still being loud at past 11 - not acceptable with the number of families on site and they should have been given an ultimatum to be quiet or leave the next day - we couldn't face another night of no sleep so came home early.
Would visit this site again but not at a weekend.

This site is lovely - in fact we have just been back by car to visit the cafe for their savoury scone and cheese afternoon tea! This seems to be a 'community' camp site, with campers mingling with locals who eat in the cafe all year round, fishermen, who fish all year round, and, on one day, a group of model boat enthusiasts! The local pub opens at 6 pm for evening eating during the week, and there is a village shop just 5 minutes away for your morning newspaper - but go no further than the camp site cafe for your breakfast! We were camped by the small pond and used our nearest toilet block, which is 2 years old and definitely state of the art, with everything activated by sensors. And birdwatchers - take your binoculars. And there are also some lovely walks round the ponds and through the woods. The only drawback to this site is the lack of phone/wi-fi signal (although that would certainly enable you to get away from it all). Again, the cafe area seems to provide the answer as I believe a signal is generally available there. I am guessing it would be pretty busy in the high season, and children would have to be supervised as the lakes/ponds are not fenced in. There is a separate part of the camp site which has a playground and does not access directly onto a pond.
