We decided we wanted a nice site in Suffolk as my sister lives near Bury St Edmunds and picked this site. What an excellent choice we made, the welcome from Greg and Karen was brilliant and the friendliness was never ending as they were never too busy to pass the time of day. As others have said, the facilities are a little old but they are very functional and are kept spotless at all times. I have no doubt that in no time they will be updated and become top class. The shop, although small, contains the essentials and most things that would be needed on arrival and then plenty of big shops nearby. They even have a resident chicken flock on site, with the cutest Silky Bantam Cockerel 'Lewis'.
A really nice touch, Fish and Chips delivered to your unit on Saturday evenings at 6.30.
So if you are looking for a very nice and pleasant site to stop at in Suffolk definitely think about going here, we are already booking for our next stop. Ignore the comments about the road noise, it is not that intrusive and did not spoil our time here one bit.
Plenty of places close by if you want to go out and explore, there is even a Geocache within 100ft of the reception area.
The site would have got a full house of 10/10's but I feel that at the moment the facilities only achieve an 8/10 but I am sure that when the Facility block has been updated it will qualify for that last 10/10 'for me'

Having chosen the coldest October nights for 17 years, we visited Polstead Touring only to find the warmest welcome imaginable from our hosts Karen and Greg, who have recently become the new owners. Their calm but efficient approach to all of our needs ensured we had a thoroughly relaxing and enjoyable stay. The lovely countryside offered endless opportunities for walking and cycling with plenty of charming pubs to quench our first.
This was our fist visit to Polstead Touring, it will not be our last.

The owners were very friendly and helpful. Our pitch very nice with plenty of space. The shower block is a little tired but the showers nice and large as a larger taller person I found this a real bonus. I loved the chickens and would like to keep some myself. Fish and chips were delivered on Saturday which saved me having to cook which is always a good thing.
I would recommend this site and will visit again

This is a really delightful site which is in a very pretty part of the country. It has just recently been taken over by Karen and Greg who are the nicest wardens I have met to date. They really want to please and help you enjoy your stay and you can see the enthusiasm they have for the site when you speak to them.
I only hope they do not become jaded over time with the demands of us campers!
As soon as we arrived on site we were greeted by Greg who told us everything about the site and walked to our pitch which all helps you settle in straight away.
The site itself is very peaceful and well kept with individual level plots with little fences and mature shrubs which adds to the feeling of calm and privacy. The toilet block whilst a little dated is very clean and the showers are enormous (with changing areas). There is information on local attractions etc in both shower blocks.
The owners are in the process of setting up a small shop with heavy items like bottled water for the motorhomers and eggs milk etc. They also do a fish and chip run on a Saturday night.
There is a small field for tents which has two large picnic tables and another field for rallies at the back of the main site.
The site is situated in a lane just off the A1071 and whilst other reviewers have mentioned traffic noise it really is very slight and more of a reassuring distant hum than a noise.
There is one pub within walking distance and another The Cock Inn which is situated in the prettiest location on the village green which is about five minutes in the car, we visted both (though only for a drink) and both owners of the pubs, particularly the Cock Inn were very friendly as were the locals.
The dog walk situated next to the site is fine for little dogs but not suitable for larger dogs. However there are lots of public footpaths through fields so plenty of exercise for dogs and owners alike.
Although we were in a caravan (with a car) I was informed by motorhomers that there was local transport just outside the site with bus routes to Sudbury and Ipswich, there are also villages nearby which can be easily reached by bike.
And I have to mention the resident chickens who wonder round the site including Louis a snowy white rooster apparently named after Louis Hamilton, because he runs very fast. He is a sad little thing as he only has half his feathers missing where he gets picked on by the others.
We only could stay for two days but would have stayed longer and inspite of rotten weather, we had a lovely relaxing time, this site is definitely on our list of favourits and we will be visiting again very soon.

We've just got back form a couple of nights at Polstead and felt the need to say what a delightful site this is.
If you're after a quiet few days away with no children running riot or kicking balls at your car/tent/caravan, this site might just answer your questions.
The site is very well laid out with hard standings for caravans spread over 2 fields and a further fully grass field for tents. During our visit, there were between 3 and 5 tents in the field - so very quiet. Couples and their dogs only.
The toilet block is in the centre of the site and is kept very clean. There are 2 toilets and 2 showers for men and 3 toilets, 2 showers for the ladies. As most of the caravans seemed to have their own toilets, there were never any queues. Washing up facilities are on the end of the loo block and again are kept very clean. 2 x sinks with VERY hot water, washing up liquid and sponges provided. And it's undercover. A washing machine and tumble dryer are also situated in this area for your use - for a fee.
We didn't really explore the area but what we did see was beautiful. Country lanes, thatched cottages, small villages, not much traffic.
And finally, the owners - very friendly and enthusiastic to make your stay more pleasant and can always be seen out and about keeping the site in tip top condition.

Just returned from staying at this small gem of a site and were very impressed by the friendly greeting and the flexibility of being able to book a one night stay over the weekend, which many other more commercial site do not allow in full season. The shower block and amenities were spotless and had lots of room and I can see why so many people had booked long term pitches. They made me, my husband, our elderly dog and new caravan feel very welcome and we will certainly be back!

We have just had a long weekend at this site and it has improved a lot. The site owners are helpful and the facilities are second to none, the shower block is spotless. There are some lovely walks across fields to Polstead and Boxford, (nice pubs) ! This is the third time we have visited this site and apart from a bit of road noise it`s perfect. Nice 'pick your own' Farm 3/4 mile away towards Polstead.

My girlfriend and I had been visiting family in Ipswich and wanted somewhere to stop over and after looking at the comments about Polstead we felt it was the place to go and I fully agree with the previous posts, warm welcome, immaculate toilet / shower block, peaceful and well set out site, a bit of traffic noise but not obtrusive.
The pub just down the road good food, drink and good value. It would have been nice to stop a bit longer but we had to head back home. We would certainly revisit if in the area again.

We have just returned following a long weekend at this lovely quiet, adult only, park. This is a clean & tidy, well-maintained site with extremely helpful and friendly owners. The tent field where we stayed was excellent and the toilet block was always immaculate with ample hot water for showers.
There are 2 pubs serving food within walking distance, one a 5-minute walk away and the other about a 40 minutes walk along public footpaths and through a wood.
The owners also offer to deliver fish & chips to your tent/caravan on Saturday night, should you fancy a change to bbq food!
We would definitely highly recommend this site.

This site is a liitle gem situated in a peaceful rural setting with good facilities and friendly owners, Kevin and Norma. The site is immaculate and, being adult only, makes for a relaxing break.
There are two good pubs serving food within walking distance, one only a 5 minute walk away and the other in Polstead village about 35 minutes walk along public footpaths and through blubell woods - a good walk for the dogs.
There is a well stocked farm shop almost opposite the site and a newsagent and shops in the nearby village of Boxford with Sunday papers delivered to site.
We have enjoyed our stays and look forward to regular visits.
