Just back from a lovely week here, our second visit.

This is a super 'basic' site. Showers lovely, toilet block always clean - my youngest had a little (wee) accident and the lady had cleaned up before I even had time to get there from my tent to sort it out!

Lots of space in the muddle of the field and lots of privacy - not rows of campers on top of each other if you see what I mean.

Re earlier review mentioning tents being further away from the toilet shower block; its not 'tent discrimination' but because the EHU points are on the pitches nearer the facilities. Water points are spread through the field, so you do not have to take it the whole length of the site.

No children's' play area, but my 2 (5 & 7) had plenty to do; lots of space for ball games and kite flying.

Pebble beach very close (at end of field) - Youngest now has a seaweed collection that we had to bring home.

Nice flat walk into town if you walk by top of beach; very close.

Town has lots to see; nice walks by river and several children's playgrounds. There is a public swimming pool at the secondary school which has family sessions with floating toys etc during the mornings for the summer holidays.

Great 2nd hand book shop, nice places to eat and great town to just look around, and walk by the harbour etc.

Lots of events during summer. Yesterday there was the welsh cob (horses and ponies) show. End of August is rugby sevens, there is also a festival etc.

We had a super time, and if you prefer a simple way of camping/don't need to be entertained, then this is a great site & location. If you prefer a clubhouse, swimming poll on site and don't mind being hemmed in on all sides by other campers, then the Aeron coast next door may be more to your liking.

We phoned this site at short notice(day before arrival) after being unable to book our usual site and found them to be really helpful and friendly on the phone.

We stayed for a long weekend Thursday- sunday. We arrived after 7 but there was someone to book us in at the farmhouse (young lad very polite and helpful). We had been given the plot furthest from the toilet block which didn't bode well with 2 young children! But we were right next to the beach which definitely made up for the walk to the loo (actually used the bucket lots more than usual!)

The site is next to the beach &the sea is a great lullaby! The toilets were always clean and tidy and even though there were only 3 showers we never had to wait to use them (had showers about 6pm). They were clean and had plenty of hot water.

Site seemed quite busy mostly caravans but was quiet. We walked into aberaeron each evening easy 10 min walk along the beach. We can recommend the New Celtic for brilliant fish & chips both eat in & take away as well as the Brains inn next door called The Monachlty I think, brilliant kids meals & family friendly. Overall a fantastic site and a great time had by all.

Just spent a lovely week at this campsite, (2 Adults our 12 year old son and a dog). Found the site easily with the directions provided. Pitches were lovely and flat and well marked out.

Tom, the site owner was around everyday if you had any problems, which we didn't, Always busy cutting the grass and general maintenance.

Showers/Toilets were cleaned regular (at least 3 times a day), Plenty of hot water. But I would agree with previous reviews that the washing up facilities could do to be improved (though we got round this by filling a bowl of hot water and taking it back to our tent to do the pots)

This is a very dog friendly site but beware it is a working farm with sheep right in the next field.

The town really is only a five minute walk away, with a very nice snack bar making lovely coffees along the way. As well as the picturesque harbour there are a number of shops and bars (many of which do home cooked food). We would recommend Costcutter for your shopping- they really do seem to stock everything.

The Bakery 'Y Popty' on the main road do cooked Chickens and a wide variety of home cooked Pies, The cornish pasties really are to die for. My wifes saying you've got to visit 'the famous £1.20 shop' and my sons saying, the 'home made honey ice creams' on the quay are a must.

All in all a fantastic place making a fantastic holiday. Would we go again? You bet!

This was my first proper camping trip in a tent (only been in caravans before). The site was in a lovely spot, right by the sea front and only a short walk along the seafront into Aberaeron. The pitch was a good size, flat, good grass, each pitch had it's own rubbish bin.

The site had free showers, shower/toilet block looks fairly new, the toilets and showers we're very clean and fresh.

Owner of the site was friendly & the site had a good feel to it. Will be going back again.

 Pros

1. Location couldn't be better - Aberaeron is just lovely. Good Costcutter, chippie and The Harbourmaster was fantastic.

2. Very level pitches - couldn't have faulted it.

3. Really well organised pitches with marked numbers.

Cons

1. If you're at the far end of the field its about a 200m walk to the toilet block.

2. Freezer - was informed via email that we would use a freezer in the farmhouse to re-freeze icepacks but there wasn't anyone around to ask where it was.

3. Didn't see or speak to anyone at the campsite at all. We rocked up found our pitch and that was it. Not sure if that's a pro or con! We didn't have any issues over the weekend except for the freezer and warm white wine so wasn't a huge problem for us! The lady who was cleaning the toilet block (incessantly some might say) was very pleasant.

4. Washing up area almost non-existant.

Despite these cons we would definitely return to the site - hopefully with a pitch a bit nearer to the toilet block.

We had a little trouble finding the site with our sat nav so I thought I would ring the number of the campsite, only to find out that the mobile phone was switched off! This was the only way to contact them other than fax which is hard when you are on the road! So not a particularly good start.

Nice flat site, we were in a tent & for some reason was directed to the bottom of the field (by the sea) which seemed a little odd when the amenities block was at the other end, caravans seem to take precedence.

Nice flat pitch & reasonably sized pitches. One word of caution the site is open & the bottom of the field to the sea front, we just made sure we locked our expensive items in the boot.

Toilets & showers were very clean & lots of hot water, washing up area could do with revamping, there is no where to drain your dishes when washed & the sink is low which if you have back problems is not good. Overall a reasonable site just needs some tweaking.

The previous review was absolutely correct, the pitches are level and well laid out with lots of room, the showers and toilets are new with plenty of hot water. Showers are free and not just a trickle of water.

We arrived in the rain and at the moment it is still raining, however although the camping field appears to be muddy, it is firm. The sea defences appear to be finished now but the gaps in the large boulders could be a hazard to young children and dogs - beware.

The town has everything you could wish for and is only a few minutes walk from the site. We will be back again, next time we will try and bring the sun with us.

This campsite is in a great location, just a quick walk from Aberaeron town centre, along the sea wall. It is being rebuilt, but is still fully accessible. Accessing the site by road is easy as the drive from the main road is wide and has a fantastic surface.

The site is level (unlike some of next door) and consists of one large field, with a fence dividing it into two. The pitches are around the edge of the field, with plenty of room in the middle of the field. There are no facilities for children, but I'm sure that there is plenty of room for old fashioned fun. There are electric hookups, which cost £4 per night extra in the summer, and £2 per night at other times.
The washing facilities are all one block. There are three showers, four toilets and sinks in the ladies, and I presume the same in the gents. The elsan point is to the back of the block. There are two outside sinks, with cold water - we used one to top up our water, and others did their washing up in them, bringing hot water from the taps in the washrooms. If I was to improve this site, I'd put water standpipes elsewhere on site, and make a washing up area. Saying that, if you are in a camper or caravan, then it's fine.

I love the location, the friendliness of the staff and find it good value. It is nice and quiet and the only site where I watched boats race at the end of the field whilst having brekkie. We left the van on site for a day and walked into the town.

If I was going to / when I return Aberaeron, I'd definitely stay here again.

Found this site and the review left was good and we decided to use it for this years vacation. Arrived at site to a friendly welcome and was able to choose our pitch - close to the beach so able to hear the waves as we slept! a nice dry flat site easy to put up tent. Clean toilets with good showers - lots of hot water. Short walk to Aberaeron along the beach. Close to facilities in Aberaeron so easy to shop on a daliy basis when we returned from our days out.

All in all an excellent site which we would recommend to anybody. E-mailed Tom and got a quick response to our e-mail.

We have just returned from an 8 night stay at this site two adults and two children (ages 9 and 12).

This site is a very relaxed one (I never met the owner in the 9 days we were there), whether that is good or bad is up to you.

The showers a basic (a converted barn that enables you to look up to the sky while you are showering) but they are free and hot - there are only three of them though so be prepared to wait each morning as there are at least 100 pitches on this site - the toilets were OK not the best I have seen and didn't flush very good so you always had to flush before use!

For the tent users out there (we used to camp so we notice the facilities) all you have to wash your dishes etc is an old fashioned sink attached to the side of the ladies toilets with a tap above (no shelter, no draining board to put you dishes) nothing - in fact I did see a few campers washing there dishes in the ladies hand basins in the toilets.

The site is made up of two very large fields with pitches right the way around both fields - there is no play area for the children, in fact if you do have children be prepared to have to play rounders, cricket, fly kites etc etc with the children every evening (with a glass of wine in the other hand!) as there really is nothing else for them to do, the safety of our children was not a problem as they are 9 and 12 but if they were younger then it would be a great concern as there is no security on this site and as it is right on the beach front anyone could enter and leave without a second glance.

As the previous reviewer mentioned there is sea defence work going on at the moment but what they didn't mention is that from 7.00am most mornings they start work and work with the tide so they stopped work at 1pm approx and then they were back in the evening until about 8pm and they are noisy and dusty (so a lie in is impossible) and a relaxing drink is too come to that because you have to talk over the noise of the JCBs - on saying that we were in the first field on pitch 18 which was one of the closest to the sea front so maybe the noise wasn't quite as bad further away.

The site was quite easy to find, it is only a 5 minute walk into Aberaeron where there are several pubs, shops and fish shops - there is also a lovely little harbour where our children loved catching crabs - you can walk along the sea front to town.

A word of warning though - we thought we would call into a supermarket when we got there but we found that there are only two and they are both about 25 miles from this site in opposite directions Tesco in Cardigan and Morrisons in Aberystwyth so take supplies with you for the first night!

Newquay is about a 20 minute drive away which is very pretty, Cwmtudu (about 25 mins) is a beautiful little beach where we were lucky enough to see a seal who kept popping his head up to look at us.

There is a dog walk on this site - well it's actually a lane between this site and the site next to it.

Would we return to this site - yes but without the children, not for such a long stay and also when all the sea defence work has been completed!
