Camping of the Farm, a revisit to this site after three years has shown little improvement other than a minor makeover of the toilet block (new sinks, tiling and paint). Noticeable increase in the site fees (September £ 18. 00/night plus extra for dogs) are not justified from this basic site, with inadequate wash up facilities (two sinks for the site) and toilets (4 WC’s, 3 showers).
However this site is generous in site with camping around the perimeter of two large fields, a refreshing lack of rules (dogs to be kept under control, no mention of leads) and proximity to the charming Aberaeron (½ mile away) makes up for the shortfall.
The National Trust Llanerchaeron property and estate is worth a visit and is easily accessed via the 2 mile walkable/cycle-able route running by the site of the River Aeron.
Site could do with better facilities if the owner intends to charge commercial rates on this site!

My wife and I were invited, at very short notice, to visit friends in a static caravan near Newquay. Drefnewydd Farm had a vacancy and when we arrived we were delighted with this quiet site and its basic, but very clean, facilities. Being next to beach and short walk into town satisfied our needs (and 2 dogs) for a quiet break. This is a fantastic centre for visiting the many wonderful beaches and nature areas within an hours drive. We will certainly be coming again for a longer stay.

Location, Location, Location ! We stayed during our tour of the UK and was suggested this site for it's close walking distance to the town of Aberaeron. I would say a five minute walk along the sea front to the upmarket Harbour Master (pub/restaraunt). The site is right on the coastal pathway. Mackeral or Bass is a good catch depending on the tides!
The site was pretty full when we were there but still really chilled. Plenty of room for the kids to run around.
The toilet block/shower really clean. Couldn't find a fault and I'm really picky( I noticed a cleaner visiting several times a day).

Had a lovely 10 day stay at Drefnewydd Farm. Lovely spacious field. It's great that all pitches are kept to the edge of the field allowing plenty of room for game playing, bike riding, kite flying, playing football etc.
We had some heavy rain over night a couple of times but the owners ran over the field with their tractor to help to drain it away and so site stayed perfectly useable, no boggy patches or puddles.
The shower block was always immaculately clean and never too busy.
It is located right next to the beach with a nice coastal path/sea wall that you can use to head in to Aberaeron, which takes no more than 10 minutes.
The beach isn't the best as it is quite seaweedy and rocky/pebbly but we still spent a lot of time there building rock towers, crabbing and fossil hunting, as well as dolphin spotting (although we didn't see one from there) and watching the sun set.
Everyone goes crabbing at the harbour at Aberaeron so make sure you buy a crabbing line when you're there.
The beach at Aberporth was the best that we found and while we were there a dolphin visited the bay a few times, swimming quite close to the bay. Lovely and sandy and not as busy as the other beaches.
About 30 minutes to Aberyswyth where we found a larger supermarket but every town/village had coop/Londis/Costcutter smaller supermarkets as well as lots of other independent shops. There is a garage/shop at the end of the entrance (and down the hill a bit).
No Internet/3G access at all until we got in to Aberyswyth.
All in all a perfect relaxing break and a relaxed site.

It was our first visit to the site, I would endorse most of the other reviews, location is fantastic, spacious pitches, clean and definitely not overcrowded. We didn't use the toilet and shower facilities as we prefer to use our own and there were no hook ups available for us but that's not a concern for us.
The only con for me was that there were a number of dogs not on leads which is fine as long as they are under control, when our neighbours dog paid an unsupervised visit and ate our dogs food it was mildly amusing - the first time, the second time was irritating
No children with us

We came across the site while looking for another site along the road and we were glad we did.
The reception office was a large caravan sited on the right as you enter the site through the farm entrance so drive through the farm until you see caravans.
It looked full when we arrived but the owner was great and managed to give us a pitch for two nights. We were given pitch number 49 with Electric and we had a bin behind us up against the fence. We were given maps and some information about the town and area in a handy booklet when we arrived. The grass was short cut which I like as long grass always soaks my trainers and socks when wet.
The toilets were very clean but I do agree with one review perhaps a bit small space wise. The showers were hot and clean.
The children played in between the caravans but the space was the size of a football pitch wide and twice as long so never became a problem with upsetting the other caravan owners.
One of the bonus points about the site is the short walk into town along the stoney beach footpath. Along the way was a small café's which seemed popular. As you enter the town you soon find plenty to see with shops, restaurants and pubs.
I will be back again as its a really nicely located site and each pitch is nice and big. I own an Eriba Familia this is a continental caravan so my door opens on the right which means my awning is on the opposite side to the UK caravans I was concerned about setting up my caravan but the owner said as long as I was in my designated space it was not a problem.

We (self and 2 teenagers) were here for 4 nights. We arrived quite late after Reception had closed and within 5 minutes or so somebody came round to check we were OK and knew which pitch we were on. We also had a parcel arrive for use and the staff were very helpful and friendly all the time we were there. All pitches are clearly marked so there was no problem working out which one we should be on. Contrary to previous review they do NOT all have EHU. The pitches nearest the sea are non-EHU. There is ample provision of rubbish bins with a dustbin between 2 pitches more or less. Dustbins are emptied regularly.
A lot of the field closest to the toilet block was taken up with caravans which seemed to have been booked in for the whole season (one of them even had a 'garden') they were mainly empty while we were there.
The toilet block is clean and well maintained. Always paper and soap available and I never found there to be a shortage of hot water. No 1 son did come back complaining about shortage of hot water in the showers at 9am(ish). I just said it served him right for lazing about in bed so late. The shower cubicles were a bit on the small side, but that wasn't really a problem. Minor irritation that there was nowhere to put shampoo etc other than on the floor or outside the shower. There were plenty of hooks on the back of the door. I did find the floor of the cubicle a bit slippery (the whole shower block floor is tiled), so a shower mat or something non-slip to stand on would be helpful. I took an extra, small towel after the first time and that was fine. Because we were on a non-EHU pitch it was a long walk to and from the toilet block. It looked like about 150 yards minimum.
It really is only 5 minutes walk into Aberaeron. There is a cafe almost on the beach about 2 minutes walk away towards Aberaeron which sells ice cream etc. We could see evidence of the storms last winter as the steps down to the beach were covered in stones and pebbles.
Aberaeron itself is a pleasant place. The harbour is quite pretty and the houses in the old town are painted a variety of colours. The fish and chip shop (New Celtic I think it is called) by the harbour sold us the best fish and chips we have ever had - piping hot, fresh fish and nice crispy chips (lunchtime - we didn't try the evening). We also ate at 'The Hive' restaurant, which was good and not too expensive - main course and dessert left us pleasantly full but not stuffed. We also visited the Indian restaurant in the town. This was simply a matter of convenience, but the food and service were both very good. A word of warning though, everything shuts at 9pm. Every restaurant, supermarket, corner shop closes at or before 9pm. Except the Indian restaurant(which also does take-away). We walked into the town at 9:10pm on our first night and found this out the hard way. Hence the Indian meal.
There was plenty of space for kids to play on-site though no specific resources. My two played football and badminton on the field.
We found plenty to do during our short stay. There are lots of places to visit locally, New Quay Honey Farm is worth a visit, so is Lanachaeron (National Trust). We walked along the coastal path in both directions, good views, beautiful sunsets. The weather was variable, mid-July with baking hot sun, thunderstorms, drizzle and all sorts.
Would we go again? Yes. Would we ask to pitch elsewhere? Yes. For me the biggest downside of the site is also one of the advantages. It is close to the town. The coastal path runs right behind the site. A blessing when going anywhere as it meant far less driving for me but it didn't make me feel all that secure having people wandering past within 10 feet of the back of the tent. We locked our valuables in the back of the car and spent less time wandering about in our pajamas. Not quite as relaxing as we might have hoped. Pitching on the other side further from the path would have made me feel a little more secure.

I was lucky enough to arrive on the day of the Aberaeron Seafood Festival and what a brilliant day out it was. Michelin starred chefs cooking taster dishes for £2. 50. This just a five min walk from the site.
The site has really good facilities and I can't fault the price for it's location. It's flat and well drained (a storm of biblical proportions put this to the test), and a high embankment on the shore shelters from the wind.
Plenty of shops, wining and dining in the town.
Usefully, the dustbins by the pitches and the territorial crows kept the seagulls away so no nasty deposits on the tent. It is't a sandy beach but the sound of the waves on the pebbles was very relaxing.
I had a really good 3G signal (maybe from the mast on the hill) and was enough to stream TV without buffering.
One of the better points of the location is that the town and the walk into it from the site are flat if you struggle with hills.

Wanted to find an alternative campsite to last year when we stayed at Aeron Park - this was to noisy and holiday camp for us, so was delighted when we found this site - it is next door to Aeron park geographically - but worlds apart in experience !-it is all grass pitches dotted around the edge of a large field - all pitches have water and elec hook up - there is direct access at the seaside end of the field to the beach / promenade, 2 min flat walk to town - showers good, pot-wash outside - o. K when it is dry -the town of Aberaeron is a Georgian delight - fab eateries and pubs - lots of quirky shops - we love it !

Well we arrived here on June 21st in bright sunshine and set up our tent and everything in about an hour and a half. This is a lovely site with level pitches surrounded by rolling hills on three sides and the sea on another. We had EHU for our week long stay but only really used it for the coolbox as we ate out most days. The weather was fantastic for most of the week with rain on the last day. We were charged £18 per night for EHU for the two of us although this price covers four people. The shower and toilet block was perfectly adequate, clean and bright and with showers included in the price. The site was fairly quiet, probably due to it being in term time for the schools. This site is in a beautiful area and only a five minute stroll into the beautiful seaside town of Aberaeron. We plan on returning next year with one of our girls and two grandkids. Overall we would highly recommend this site and the fantastic weather always helps !
