What a beautiful, friendly campsite! The location is perfect, a short walk into Keswick which has a lot to offer with attractions, shops, pubs and restaurants. The campsite was rather busy when we arrived so we queued to get in but that just shows how popular it is!

Once we were at the front of the queue we were greeted by a warden who cycled round finding us a lovely spot and helped us to get sorted. The campsite is located near Derwentwater so the views are beautiful and if we had a smaller tent I think we would have been able to camp right next to the lake.

Our location on 'the island' was still close enough although a fair old hike to the toilet block - good job there were plenty of bushes around!

The toilet/shower block itself was clean and never too busy. Their was a small shop on site with literally the basics but a 5 minute walk away was an excellent supermarket with cafe. My only complaint is the lack of fridge /freezer facilities but you could hire ice packs from the site shop.

I can echo all the positives of previous reviews. The site staff are genuinely happy to help. Arriving on site after a long journey was painless and Keith told us everything we needed to know like a well oiled machine.

We didn't need the car all week. The area is so, so beautiful you have to see it to appreciate it. There's a lovely supermarket called Booths where the cafe does breakfasts and there's a co-op a little further towards the town.

The town is pretty and lots of the shops allow you to take your dog in.

Incredible! Think that is the only word that can be used to describe this beautiful site in the Lakes. We stayed here for 6 nights. Although we were worried whether we would get here due to the site being under flood watch, but it was fine - muddy but better than some sites I've been to when it rains!

There is everything you could need within reach of the site so we never moved the car. Ample shopping, restaurants, take aways and pubs are there and Keswick centre is only 5 minutes walk away from the site.

We bought an inflatable dinghy after watching everybody cruising the water in their canoes and kayaks and this was amazing. Every view from the caravan window was like a postcard with mountains all round the site. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly both on arrival and prior to arrival while we were checking the flood situation.

There are 2 toilet/shower blocks, again immaculate and with staggered cleaning times so facilities are always available. Showers were lovely and warm. There are also personal cubicles with sinks and shaving mirrors. There's a good fenced playground in middle of the site with a slide and swings.

An amazing site, with everything you could need. There is no doubt we will return here.

Just back from 10 nights at this great site. Pitch was nice with plenty of room (number 187 so oddly next to the previous reviewer!)

1 minute walk to the lake from this pitch and a couple of minutes to the toilet block which were cleaned very regularly even as late as 11pm!

Staff at the site were excellent and the whole site is well kept.

Seems like a popular site for water sports and even though the site was always full it never felt that busy.

Very short walk to the supermarket so tended to go everyday as we were without EHU.

Lovely scenery and enjoyed the ducks but stayed clear of feeding the swans protecting babies!

We'll definitely be back - great site.

Large but very friendly site. Wardens very helpful when pitching although the site was very busy.

Location couldn't be better both with views over Derwentwater and also being able to walk both into Keswick or into surrounding hills. The car didn't move all the time we were there.

Facilities were up to usual high C & C club standards and only had to wait once for showers. Good recycling facilities.

We have already booked to return.

What a great site. We decided to go down to Keswick for the weekend at the last minute on Saturday morning. The staff there were very helpful and fitted us into a great pitch (188)

There are 2 tent areas, one for small tents, by the lake which was very scenic but looked a bit breezy and another about 100 yards further in which is sheltered and for all sizes of tents.

The toilets and showers were regularly cleaned and very nice.

The site is 5 mins walk to Keswick centre and there are many shops, supermarkets and pubs etc nearby. It is also situated right on the lake and you can camp 50 yards from the water.

We went there as a 'recce' for family trips and loved it. The wife and I took our small tent and had a lovely peaceful weekend there. The kids would love it and we can't wait to take them there for a longer trip.

To sum up, a great campsite for couples, families, bikers and sports fanatics. Very clean, well run and no problems at all with noise etc.

We'll be back !

We have just come back from two days here.

The site is very clean and tidy although very busy.

The toilet blocks are old but they are clean and tidy and there is never a queue.

The site is located close to the city centre which allows you to walk in. The pubs in the town centre accept dogs. There is a Booths supermarket in very close walking distance from the site entrance.

The club office sells duck food for feeding the rather friendly ducks, geese and swans that wander around the site.

The launch fees for taking a boat out on the lake are very reasonable and there are dog walks available on site.

I hope to go back more often!

Back for the third time over about a 15 year period.

It is a busy, but very well run site. The location is outstanding, right on the lake and with an easy stroll to the centre of town - it couldn't be better.

Keswick offers great, characterful, pubs and eateries, good selection of shops and things to do. You're well placed to tour around the Lakes, if that's your bag, or stay around for a short break in the immediate area around Keswick.

Site facilities were very clean and well maintained. Showers were spotless as were the toilets and dish washing areas. Pitches were well looked after, no litter and rocks.

I'm a member of the C.C.C. But had the extra bonus of being told that as I was arriving by motorbike I would only have to pay members' backpacker rates!

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the site and I'm looking forward to my next visit.

Good site right next to the lake and ideal for boating activities. Handy to the town and well located.

But, the entrance is a nightmare as the road is narrow and you have to queue to be escorted to your pitch. Any units coming out (and they do) can get stuck due to the narrowness of the road. Surely it would be better to allow units into the site and stop them on the perimeter road.

The wardens were great and really helpful but the manager wasn't. We were escorted to our pitch next to our friends and then the Manager asked us to move because he had reserved the pitch for his daughter! I stood my ground and the manager later came back and relented telling me his daughter wasn't coming to the site anymore. Not good!

Watch out to for the high road bumps and potential grounding of caravans.

We visit this site at least once a year and love it. It is always very busy but very well run by friendly and helpful staff.

Really close to the town, loads of local walks and water sports a plenty. We take our canoes and spend most of our time on the lake and we love the fresh air and beautiful views.

A great site if you like the outdoors but also enjoy wandering around lovely shops and having a great supermarket on your doorstep.

Toilets always clean and if one is closed for cleaning you can just use the other block nearby. The office sells basic provisions and the kids love buying the duck food to feed the ducks at the lakeshore on site. The swans are a bit vicious at times especially with dogs so beware.
