What a great location this site has. This, of course, makes it busy but the staff try their hardest to keep the queue to a minimum while ensuring the 6 meter rule.
On the down side, there has been a lot of rain this year and parts of the field are a little water logged.
Friendly staff, flat pitches, good facilities and a great location - what else would you want?!

We arrived the day after the site flooded and made national news! Some areas of the campsite were still underwater and on arrival the warden said they had been up all night helping people to evacuate and contacting people who were booked on to grass pitches not to come. Luckily we had booked onto hard standing and would recommend this to anyone taking a caravan - the grass was still quite boggy in patches after several days of dry weather.
The site is absolutely fantastic with open views across the lake. The lake is shallow for quite some distance and is very popular with holiday makers using dinghies, kayaks and canoes.
The toilets and showers are in 2 blocks and are of the standard you expect from CCC.
The quaint town centre of Keswick is only a couple of minutes walk away with plenty of places to eat and most of the pubs are dog friendly. As you would expect, there are a lot of good walks around the area and some very scenic drives.
I would definitely recommend this site and will be returning, the whole family loved it.

Just returned from a wet week at this site.
The flooding problem hasn't got any better, but the staff were kind enough to call us at home before our departure to warn us in advance: excellent customer service and gave us the chance to buy some wellies!
Our grass pitch was under 3 inches of water within a day, with swans and ducks actually swimming around outside the awning - yes it gets that bad - but cant say we weren't warned! Thankfully it seems to drain off quite quickly when the rain finally stops, but I wouldn't think of returning without a hardstanding pitch in future - the grass pitches near the kids playground just are not suitable and should be converted to hard standing.
Site is beautifully clean and well kept and visitors are quiet and respectful. No noise at night and the shower facilities were fine in my opinion: good hot water, lots of cubicles and all very clean.
Staff are generally very helpful, friendly and cheerful, but there are unfortunately a couple of grumpy exceptions who let the side down a little: I think the rain and the fact that the site was at capacity was getting to some people!
A word of warning for those taking 2 vehicles: you will only be allowed on site with one vehicle. There is a very very small car park for extra cars, but if you cant get on that, (and you'll be lucky), it's pay and display on a daily basis at the rugby club.
Stunning views from anywhere on site, great location for Keswick and access to public transport and possibly my favourite site in the Lakes - despite to puddles!

First class camp site. Staff were extremely helpful at all times, showed us several pitches before having to decide which ewe preferred.
Showers/toilets the best I have seen - very clean. Small shop on site but supermarket less than 5 mins walk. Keswick town a short walk with plenty to do. A haven for walkers, the site is on the lakeside - very picturesque.
I can't find anything negative to say - we will having a longer trip here next year as there was so much to do.

Friendly and helpful staff, toilet blocks clean but ready for upgrade (not as good as Caravan Club facilities), grass pitches were more than a bit damp so the hard standing pitches are worth it when it's rainy
BUT
It's a 5 minute walk to the supermarket and into Keswick so you can sample the local beer and leave the car on the site. It's a 15 minute walk to the boat landing stage and you can get discount tickets from reception
AND
The views are simply great - Skiddaw, Catbells etc and you're right on the shores of Derwentwater. We had a great week.

My first visit to Keswick and I arrived in typical Lake District weather - torrential rain. But after a very warm greeting at reception I was shown to my choice of pitch by the warden on his mountain bike. The ground was already wet and muddy with some small puddles, but there were enough dryish patches to get a slot.
I opted for one near the trees and quite close to the lake and luckily the weather relented a little bit to a drizzle whilst I pitched it.
The site was immaculate and very well laid out and it was the mountain festival weekend so they were full, but it didn't feel jammed in at all. The facilities were absolutely spotless - you couldn't ask for more.
Its a short walk in Keswick itself and even in the rain it wasn't too much of a hike.
All in all, I would highly recommend this site and the views it offers are just WOW !

Staying at this site during the school Easter holidays was a compromise for me as I usually use very basic sites but I should have learned from previous experience what to expect from the C & C Club (I have always been pleasantly surprised).
I'm not sure why I wasn't expecting the site to be as busy as it was but the look of sheer dismay on my face when I arrived at the reception must have said it all. A vast expanse of white with accompanying 4x4's, satellite dishes, wind breaks and all the necessary accompaniments were the first things to meet my eye, and it seemed to go on for miles. The wardens however noting my discomfort were very understanding and without my even having to ask, lead me to the far end of the campsite where there were a few other campers. Whilst this meant a considerable hike to the loos, I considered a small price to pay to be out of the way.
Although the site was at full capacity I was impressed with how it never felt overbearing. There is plenty of room to walk around, and having Keswick withing crawling distance means you don't have to worry about forgetting anything foodwise. There are two loo blocks which, as many have already said are brilliantly looked after. The showers are great and while small in number, you don't have to wait long for one. The washing up facilities are an absolute luxury (for me anyway - lashings of hot water with a view to kill for). The playground for the kids seems to be sufficient for the young ones and the older ones can be kept happy for hours exploring around the lake.
Overall, whilst I really don't like regimented sites, this one has so much to offer. The team who run it are helpful and good humoured and it couldn't be better placed. The views you woke up to in the morning were heavenly. Well worth the price of regimentation.
A word of warning don't do as I did and forget your underwear - you can buy any manner of outdoor gear in Keswick but can you buy a pair of knickers? NO! Be warned :)

What a welcoming and beautiful site. The wardens were cheerful and smiley and on arrival we were offered a choice of pitches. As it was Easter weekend, the wardens had organised a raffle and Easter egg hunt for the children culminating in an egg and spoon race for the kids on Easter sunday. A beautiful location and essential to book really. Will def be returning!

First outing of year. Checked out site a few weeks ago on visit to lakes and found it great apart from very wet ground ( we thought it would dry out by Easter). Arrived and found pitch to west of site, sheltered by trees from wind we hoped. Site has fantastic facilities, toilets were some of the best I have seen. Lack of shop is no problem as Booths and Coop are both passed when returning to site or just 5 mins walk. The wind caused problems later in week, and we decided to get out after 2 days of gales ( seen a few awnings blown down and also 1 tent with damage. Will definitely return and hope for less windy conditions.

For our first trip of the year we decided on one of our favourite sites at Keswick. The stunning location, convienience of being 5 minutes from the town centre (and warm pubs if the weather turned nasty!)
We weren't disappointed! although it's near the town centre, its around a slight bend so your view is unspoilt.
The main toilet block was open and was excellent, hot showers, clean and spacious, the second was closed for a refurbishment, so should be great for the new season.
There is still no campshop on site since the last one went bankrupt in 2007, but with the huge Booths supermarket within a 5 minute walk it's not really an issue.
The ground was soaked so it limited our choice of pitch, we normally like to be down by the dog walk area, but we were happy with being in the back field.
Only downside is that you need to really book way in advance in the summer, but its a cracker of a site and well worth doing so.
