This campsite is a real little gem, benefiting from being an adult only site. The pitches ( we chose hardstanding) are generous in size, again ours had its own water and of course electrics.

The utilities block is as the owner admits 'work in progress' however what you have is very very clean and more than serviceable.

There are 3 toilets ( generous sized rooms) all with washbasin, electric shaver points etc. A male and female designated shower, again lovely and big, good powerful showers and abundance of hot water, the showers have proper screens rather than curtains and there is again a decent sized dressing area.

Pot washing area is good and spacious, as is the laundry, a thoughtful addition is the book exchange and TV lounge.

As a spot for touring the area its ideal, great walks from the site, including otter spotting on the Tweed, or just a lovely site to sit back and relax.

The site owner is extremely personable and helpful- on site regularly to make sure everything is ok, this attitude seems to 'rub off' on everyone, as all other campers - certainly whilst we were there were friendly and willing to share advice and a tale or two.

My main concern about this site is that it is going to become ( has already) very popular and therefore will be difficult to get in.

We will certainly be back, space permitting.

Stayed here for 3 nights over a weekend. It is a really lovely adult only site with brand new toilet / shower / kitchen facilities. Spotlessly clean with large spacious pitches.

Owner was friendly and helpful. There are great riverside walks in both directions and you can walk over the chainbridge into Scotland. We walked to Horncliffe along the river bank but it is an easy walk along the road and there is a pub there serving bar meals, which we tried out on the Saturday evening, and had no complaints.

Very close to Berwick for shopping and also just a hop down the A1 to Holy Isle for a nice day out. We had two hours to kill before the causeway was passable so drove a few miles down the A1 and walked over the grazing land pathway to Ross Sands, beautiful long sandy beach with views of Bamburgh and Lindisfarne Castles. Lots to see and do in this area.

Bamburgh and Seahouses are a few miles further south and Alnwick and its castle a bit further on again. I would thoroughly recommend this small, quiet site.

Stayed one night only on way home from Scotland. This site apparently can now take up to 18 units. The site was clean, well cared for and its obvious the owner has put in loads of work recently.

The caravan sitings were great, hard standings each with own water tap and hook up point. The showers were a welcome sight, modern clean and underfloor heating. The owner is still in the process of finishing the works but he has obviously given much thought to the requirements of campers/caravaners.

There is a small sitting area with books, comfy chairs and tv, I imagine this would be a welcome relief if you are camping and get torrential rain!

There are two showers, a ladies and a gents. Three toilets, all with adequate space to get washed, there are shaver points in each toilet area. Outside the toilet area are mirrors, a hand dryer and hair dryer. There are washing machines and dryers, fridge for the campers and pot washing facilities.

The only criticism is that one of the toilets has a window without a blind or curtain but its not overlooked, however for modesty I would have preferred a blind in place, nothing that cant be fixed. Perhaps designating the toilets as male and female would be an idea? Not a big deal though.

The only criticism we had was there was no waste water disposal point and the chemical disposal area was not self flushing, not too much of a problem as a hose pipe is attached. I am sure the owner will give these things thought, he was really helpful.

The river is a short walk away and we went for a long walk on the bankside, a good base to get into Berwick and surrounding area. Right next to the Honey farm and a bus museum.

No play area for kids, but its a base to explore the area from so I don't think it would be a problem.

Site Owner here. We have taken on board everyone's comments from last years very successful first season.

This year we have brand new loos and showers situated in the buildings as well as a host of other facilities, new for 2011,to make your holiday one to remember!

We are always keen to hear any suggestions for improvements and will do our best to act on them.

Lovely quiet small site, first time we have been, I really should not be reviewing it and telling everyone about it I want it all to myself, but anyway needs must.

Owner and wife very nice laid back friendly just let you get on and enjoy your holiday but there if needed for info.

Better for caravanners than tents due to limited toilet facilities, not a problem for us.

The area around Berwick is magic as is berwick itself. Not enough time this year to do too much but will be booking at least a full week 2011 cant wait.

We stayed here recently in our tent and had a great time!

After reading the previous reviews about the toilet facilities, we came prepared as always with the trusty porta potti. There were no problems at all with the loos as they have installed 2 new porta loos for use in case of those urgent visits.

You just have to use the shower during the day instead of in the morning that's all

Lets face it folks, at a tenner a night for a family tent and 4 people, what do you want?? all singing, all dancing full personal valet?? I think not. We found it really pleasant and great value for money.

As with other certificated sites we've visited, you have to learn to live basically. This means a toilet tent, heating your own washing water etc.

Many certificated sites only provide a tap for drinking water and a disposal for elsan so this one is luxurious.

One of the great pluses with staying here is the peace and quiet you get and with it being not too large, you get a friendly atmosphere. The beaches south of Berwick are only a short drive away and there are plenty of walks and bike rides to go on.

This is a lovely tidy site in a nice area and usually peaceful, ball games are not allowed and no noise after 10pm.

Facilities are in a Portakabin, as you enter there is a washing up sink with hot water and plenty of space for drying pots, then the toilet, handbasin and shower are together in a smaller room which caused problems with queues most of the time we were there. There are also two Portaloos in the corner of the field which were a bit smelly as Portaloos tend to be, my 10yr old used them quite happily but the rest of us just queued!

There is lots to do nearby, it's only a short drive to Berwick for shopping, there is a Honey farm next door which is free and very interesting, the Union bridge is also very close by and you can walk along the riverbank to Paxton House.

The owners are both lovely, they told me they are planning more improvements to what is already a lovely site, including a new toilet block which they hope to have done for 2011.

Just got back from a fantastic weekend camping by Berwick. It was the 1st time that we have stayed at this campsite, and overall impressions were good. The views were fantastic, the campsite clean and the owners friendly.

BUT (there's always a but isn't there).

The toilet facilities were too small for the site. Maybe not a problem if you have a caravan, but in a tent, there has to be adequate toilet shower facilities.

On this site there is one toilet and one shower. That in itself wouldn't be so bad as it is only a small site, however they're both behind the same door. This caused endless queues and embarrassed rushed use of the facilities. It's such a shame as the facilities are kept clean and it lets down an otherwise excellent site.

We stayed here for 2 nights in our tent. The owner was very laissez-faire about the arrangements, didn't show us to a pitch or explain the facilities.

Like the previous reviewer we were rather shocked at the lack of said facilities. The toilet block is a small portacabin, divided into two rooms. The first is larger, and contains some leaflets and maps of 2 local walks, and a single sink for pot washing.

The second smaller room contains a single toilet and shower combined. This meant long waits to use the loo, and other campers feeling guilty about having a shower as no-one could use the loo!

Campers should note there is no facility to freeze cold elements for the cold box. We enquired, and were told they'd never been asked before!

There are two fields, one with 5 EHU points, used predominantly by caravanners, and a larger field for campers.

The nearest shop of any use is a Morrisons 4 miles or so away, which has an excellent selection.

All in all, ideal for a quiet caravan trip, but until the facilities are improved, not a place for campers.

We camped here from the 26th of June until the 29th. We were 7 people in 3 tents and one 2 berth caravan.

The site is located not far from the A1 near the border of Scotland. Next door is a hunny farm which is filled with interesting information on farming honey. They also sell their products on the farm.

Due to it's location the site is very quiet. It is a little open to the elements. Luckily the weekend we went was very sunny and warm. There is a field surrounding the site so if you suffer from hayfever I would make sure that you take some pills.

The grass was kept very neat (as is the rest of the site- the building that the owners live in is also a b&b) and the tent section is separated off from the caravan area.

The only downfall is the toilet block. The building is a large portacabin which contains one separated room. The room contains 1 toilet, 1 sink, 1 shower. Outside the room are the washing up facilities.

First thing on a morning there is a queue to use the shower/toilet and sometimes it can take up to an hour to get in.

If you can use your own bathroom facilities I would recommend the site. It's location is very handy for accessing both Scotland and the holy island area.
