Good site but very exposed and always windy, could do with some more dividing hedges . There is a very nice on site shop, which stocks all the basics, and a fish & chip van visits every Saturday evening. There are several pubs within a mile of the site where you can get a nice meal and the beach is just across the road.

There is also a small games room with pool table plenty of toilets and showers that are kept very clean. I have been camping here on and off for over 30 years and although some of the wardens have been a bit on the grumpy side the majority of them are most pleasant and welcoming.

I have 11 grandchildren who have all been to the site with us and we have never had any problems with the wardens shouting at them, if children are well behaved there is no need for it and it makes for a better holiday for other campers.

we have just returned from this site and we loved it! We got a lovely welcome from the warden, gave us lots of local info. Lovely walks each way to pubs that serve good food. We caught a bus into Eastbourne, bus stop 10 minutes away. We felt very much at ease on site, noise from trains not a problem .We had a lovely relaxing stay, so much we have booked for a week in June. Yes a bit breezy but being so close to the sea its what you expect, everyone was friendly and we enjoyed our stay!!!

Have just returned from this site, which was the second Camping and Caravaning site we have used in the UK (have used many Carefree sites abroad). The site was clean, tidy, showers and toilets spotless (which you can rely on with C and C sites). Good distances between pitches which were grass and reasonably flat. Shop had the basics and you could order newspapers etc. Pevensey Bay and the surrounding areas are easily accessible. The site is well signposted and easy to find and has a welcoming entrance and reception area.

On the downside, however,as far as we were concerned we found it very hard to just relax on this site. Although they ban ball games, kites etc etc the ban did not include "Lawnmower Man" and his assistants, who from 0900 to 1800 hours daily kept up a relentless cutting regime, using a ride-on Kubota tractor and the site officials seemed to take delight on seeing who could cut the nearest to an occupied pitch whether it needed it or not. We found it impossible to relax and would have had a more restful time sitting in our back garden. The site is next to shingle beach and very exposed to all wind directions. When the wind is in the north the two railway lines that run parallel to the site can only add to the grass cutters'Grand Prix! We didnt take the children this time and think that there is not enough to occupy them on this site.

We have long waited to get onto this site but were disappointed in it. The wardens were not especially welcoming and as usual could not work the computer. We were guided by one of them across an undulating grass pitch, and then were left to cope when there was about 1cm between the back of the 'van and the grass. We damaged the jockey wheel and the car's clutch. But apart from that, the pitches are unbelievably close together. About 12' between us and the next van and on hands shaking terms with the people on other side. We have had similar with other camping and caravan club sites and think we will not be renewing our membership.

What a disappointment - our 3 families comprising 9 children were made to feel most unwelcome by the numerous wardens in their red uniforms. Camping is our favourite family activity yet our children were shouted at like dogs. We will never return here and it is unlikely we will use the caravan and camping club again.

The Hop Farm Touring And Camping Park

Set in 500 acres of beautiful, rolling Kent countryside. The Oast village on site is the World's largest Oast house collection and makes for a spectacular backdrop. Grass and hardstanding pitches for caravans, tents and motorhomes with electric option. Modern toilets and showers and multiple washing up facilities.

Small shop onsite and pub/restaurant at the entrance. The River Medway flows through the site, providing idyllic waterside pitches. Make the most of the location and try your hand at canoeing or fishing or simply sit back, unwind and enjoy wildlife spotting. The first time we had stayed at this site, but recommended by the in-laws as they stay here frequently. We stayed for the weekend and were very happy with the site. The toilet blocks were very clean and there were plenty of them. Although the games room was closed at the time it looked very good. It was adjacent to the beach and was great for the kids and for walking the dog in the evening when the tide was out.

We have booked up again for 2 weeks in the summer. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Good site for our second trip. It is however very exposed and the wind can get up. There is an on site shop and a chip van visits every Saturday evening. There are several pubs within a mile of the site and the beach is 2mins away. Also a small games room with pool table good toilet and showers.

This was our very first camping and caravanning site. The site is flat but very hard. We lost a lot of metal pegs as we kept hitting stone/rock. Ended up using plastic pegs. For those with tents/awkings check sea forcast before leaving. As can get very windy. Right on top of a pebble beach. A very quiet site. The toilet/shower facilites are very clean. They do have 2 blocks on site, but only open the one nearest the enterance during low/mid season. There is a well stocked shop on site. The laundry is very good and cheap.
At peak times when site is full, they have intermittent problems with the electric going off. This is apparently being upgraded. We were without electric for about an hour on the one day it was cold. Will definatley go back. Very close to Eastbourne, Hastings etc. Advisable to book if going at a peak time and get early as you can pick your pitch, especially for those of you wanting electric.

This was the second Camping & Caravanning Club site we had visited.

This site, like the CC site at Shanklin. IOW, also had an 11.00 curfew. Not good if you have a motorcaravan, or you are way over the other side of the site !! After 11.00 pm, you have to leave your car in the night parking area, outside the main enclosure. The site was clean and tidy. The pitches were generous in size and the whole site was flat, so there was no need for blocks of wood or wedges.

Two new shower/toilet blocks were a recent addition to the site, one containing a games room. The showers were all heat adjustable, and free, but lacked choice of spray angle and height (you could stand in the middle, and not get wet !!). There was also a lack of shelving in the cubicles, presenting the problem of where to put your glasses and watch.

The location of the site was ideal from our point of veiw. It was quiet, and gave us central point from where we visit this part of the East Sussex coast. Brighton, Eastbourne, and Hastings were all in easy reach by car. It was a bit isolated if you wanted to leave your motorhome on site though.
