The location of this site is brilliant, right across the road from a beach which has the feel of being the sites private beach!
The management are lovely - extremely friendly and helpful, and keep the place spotless. There were fresh flowers in the wash rooms! The facilities are excellent, lots of showers, wash basin cubicles and toilets. Most of the camp ground is at one end while the newer two blocks are within the less populated end of the site, but it's hardly any distance.
C&C sites are a bit regimented and bossy for me, I like a campfire and more space, but the busy family atmosphere here was friendly and respectful, with well behaved children and rules re noise kept to.
We camped alongside the narrow private road that leads to more coastal houses further along the bay - traffic drive past at breakneck speed, and I did lie in my tent hoping that in the event of a crash the wire fence would hold up! There should be a speed limit on that bit of road - there is a 30mph limit up until the site entrance and then it becomes a free for all alongside the perimeter.
The Saturday night fish and chips were excellent. The van was advertised as being there until 7. 30, but there were rumours that they frequently sell out by 6 or 6. 30, so don't dally!
I visited this site a few years ago. The ratio of caravans seems to have inceased, and the increase in EHU pitches has attracted more mega-tents.
Take your own bats and balls for the rec room, which really only has a ping pong table, tables and chairs and a sofa or two. We had our lunch in there before we put our tent up when we arrived in the rain!

Excellent site very tidy and clean well connected for routes to the east for sight seeing and loads to see right on the beach
Good pubs a short walk away. The Moorings has a happy hour and the food is good a very curry house in town and a Chinese
Had a lovely stay but it can get windy, it ripped our awning
That said it's fairly level with good showers and toilets, lots of hot water and a dishing up area
The rail track is near on the north side but it was not evident to us at night

We have just come back after enjoying a lovely week at this site - we had lovely warm and dry weather for a change which always helps when you are camping in a tent.
Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Toilets were always clean and showers had plenty of hot water.
The pitch was nice and flat and all the tent pegs went in easy with no problem. Another camper had pitched their tent so as we were unable to get our car out when we first got there, but the site staff soon sorted out the problem, so that was fine, although we could have done with a little more room where we were. D
The Shop seemed to stock all the essentials, although we only got our milk from there as we eat out most of the time. We had fish & chips from the van that comes to the site on a Saturday evening and really enjoyed them.
The beach was just over the road and ideal to have a walk along with the dogs in the evening, although we didn't see much sand whilst we were there as the sea didn't go out that far.
We went to visit Eastbourne a couple of times, which had a lovely clean seafront to walk along. It also had a nice shopping centre. Other places which are well worth a visit that we went to are Battle Abbey, Beachy Head, Bodiam Castle, Bluebell Steam Railway and Pevensey Castle which is only a mile or so up the road from the site.
We still haven't seen everything, so would like to return to this site soon.

Our fifth visit to Normans Bays confirmed quite how much we like this site. It is a very large site at 200+ pitches. The pitch sizes are generous, the staff are friendly and, generally, the other campers & caravaners are also friendly.
We have a big tent – the Outwell Vermont XL – which nigh-on fills a C&CC Site pitch at 7. 7m x 4. 5m, but there is always space to park the car on the pitch and for a little pup tent if the weather permits. The pitches are generally level and the ground is usually just right for tent pegs - hardly bending any!
On arrival, the staff show you to your pitch and are pretty clear about where to pitch and keeping a regulation 6m from the next unit. We came a cropper once, as did some friends on another occasion, just under the 6m after fully built, but had to move – a real pain, even if our fault! But the staff are keen to help if you remain pleasant with them and on both occasions helped us and our friends move the tents.
The site facilities are good and one of only a few I know with private wash basin cubicles, as well as showers, which are useful for having a good wash & shave, etc. And excellent when you’ve got small kids to get ready for bed. Obviously muddy at muddy times, the toilet/shower blocks are kept in good order twice a day, starting spotless. Plenty of hot water & very good facilities in both of the two blocks. Some have commented that they could do with updating, but I’ve seen far worse.
Our kids are 10 & 7. They love this site for the (basic) kids playground, the riverside, and mostly for the large circular site road, when it’s not too busy, which is great for them to get used to their bikes on. When the site isn’t too busy, there is good kiddy cycling in the mostly empty centre field pitches and both of our kids learned to lose the stabilisers from their bikes here. (Not possible BH weekends as mobbed – good for them!)
On the Pevensey level plains and on the beach, the site can get more than its share of high winds and we’ve had a couple of challenging times putting up and taking down, where we nearly ended up with a very large kite!
Over the back of the site is the main line railway which the kids loved when they were smaller and now isn’t really busy enough to be much of a disturbance. In front of the site, over a quiet road and up & over a small sea defence hill is a stony beach. If you check the tides, every few days there is a period of low low tides which open up expanses of sand and pools. Sadly they’re only there for an hour or two, now and then, but quite glorious for the kids, sand castles, etc. On the (stony) beach, the incumbent wind is usually good for some excellent kite flying.
We live relatively locally, but Sussex has a mass of attractions if you want to get out and about and the information booth at reception is fully stocked with attraction brochures.
Saturday nights, there is a Fish & Chip van – excellent grub, has to be done, but expensive, very busy and runs out of fish fairly early on a BH weekend, so beware if you think you’ll leave it later! Reception has details of other local (Pevensey Beach) takeaways, some of which deliver.
The camp shop is open early morning for papers & fresh baked crusty rolls (yum) and keeps a good selection of food basics and beach paraphernalia, together with gas bottles & some camping basics.
Not all wine & roses, but one of our favourite campsites – and if the kids are happy, so are we!

Use this site for the past five years. Enjoyed every trip. It is quite a large site, and the beach is right over the road, although its a pebble beach, unless you go at low tide and there is some sand!
A railway line runs the other side of the site, you can't always hear it. There is a dog walk, along the rear of the site, this area is quite open, and if its windy, you'll know about it.
The toilet/shower blocks are always spotlessly clean. There is a small laundrette. The shop is well stocked. A fish and chip van goes on site on Saturdays. Its about a mile and half walk to Pevensey Bay.
There are some shops here, and bars. The staff were helpful and friendly. Will be back again next year.

Popular Choice in this Area
Broadhembury Holiday Park - Ashford
Just 15 minutes from Ashford and 25 minutes from fabulous beaches, you'll be ideally placed for exploring the Garden of England. The park is divided into a family area, that is close to the play parks, the sports field and the games room, and a peaceful adult-only area in The Meadows, that is ideal for couples. A range of grass and hardstanding pitches, fully serviced or non electric, catering for all sized of tents and caravans.
On both areas you will enjoy five-star, centrally-heated showers, and private cubicles with toilet, hand basin, dryers etc. Laundry and campers kitchens, a large childrens playground, sports field, games room and television lounge. The park has CCTV and WiFi is available for a small fee. A dog walking area is provided on site. Find out more here

Great site. Staff are fantastic and couldn't be more helpful - even helping a couple that were struggling with their tent and then jump starting their car!
Toilets kept very clean and campers very considerate to each other.
Just over the road from the beach too. The site has a small basic shop but it's enough for those emergency items!
Swings and slide for the kids keeps them entertained, and dog friendly walks.
Local pub was a bit disappointing suggest eat at the Harbour complex which has more choice (you can also find ASDA there!).
Will def visit again.

My hubby and I only spent the one night here,
The staff were very friendly and helpful,
The beach is a stone through away
The toilets and shower block was clean, did not use shower though,
The whole campsite was good, except the recreation room only had a table tennis table, no bats or balls, I was hoping to trash my hubby at pool, darts etc.
The shop was fine, sold every thing you need on a campsite, even got the paper in the morning,
Will go back and go on the train which runs along side of campsite, which you cant hardly hear and try the public house about a mile away which looked very nice

Great site and great location, very close to the sea and so I was able to have a swim and do a spot of fishing.
The showers and toilets were very clean which considering the site was almost full. The pluses how I see them.
It's Great for family's as it's is close to the ses.
Showers and Toilets very clean.
Well stocked little shop although we did not use it except for an Ice Cream.
Easy for walking the dog and also close to Largish Town (Eastbourne)
The downs not very much to be honest, I guess as we are a couple and the site is large with family's we would prefer it a little quieter. I have say though they children did not bother us and we both slept like baby's.
We will be back and its worth a visit

A really nice peaceful well-kept site. Excellent well-stocked shop, daily papers, no need to order, great. Very friendly helpful staff. Only thing which spoilt it for us was the awful weather & wind; poor OH thought the 'van was going to blow over.
Only needed to tighten up the legs once and this steadied the unit (the feet had dug into the ground even though there are pads on the legs)
Local amenities very good with a choice of cuisine for all tastes.
We thought that the campsite brochure could be slightly better but this is only an observation and not meant to be critical as all the important things were in it, eg emergency procedures etc.
The site is well placed for visits to interesting museums, stately homes etc., and at our ages we do not need sea sun & sand so much.

Stayed here for two nights midweek, friendly welcome from staff. Normans Bay station is s short distance away for trains to Bexhill, Hastings or Eastbourne but be aware of train times back. We used our bikes to see the area, nice and flat plenty of quiet roads and bike routes. Toilets and showers very clean though the water pressure in the showers is quite weak. Closest pubs probably Pevensey Bay or there is one on the road to Cooden Beech but never used them. Everything else has been said about this site below, well worth a visit.
