Had a great week here at Norman's Bay. We were extremely lucky with the weather and enjoyed the proximity to the beach every day. Children were able to cycle around on bikes and buy treats from a well stocked site-shop which is independently owned. Site staff were friendly and helpful on arrival helping to direct the caravan in and push it into place. We were accommodated next to two other parties of people as we had telephoned in advance.
There is a basic playground but my children did not visit it as it was extremely busy. We walked a little further to use the facilities in the newer block at the far end of the site but the old block was clean if a little tired.
The site was quite busy all week. Most of the pitches are exposed so you do need storm guys or a more substantial tent for when it is windy. There are a lot more electric pitches than there used to be and in some areas the tents look a little packed in. The noise of the trains did not bother us and generally things were quiet after dark (about 9 p. M. )
We love Norman's Bay and will be back. Great ASDA, TESCO, Morrisons all in Eastbourne as close as about 10 mins away. Sovereign Centre leisure pool also fun.

The 288 mile drive is well-worth it for the peace and quiet to recharge our batteries. It is our third visit here with our van and awning and dogs. The staff are friendly, welcoming and accommodating - especially if you arrive early! The pitches are large and you don't feel hemmed in, as we have sometimes felt on the more 'commercial' sites. The facilities are satisfactory. Don't go to Normans Bay or Pevensey if you want a 'bells and whistles' resort holiday but it is ideal if you want peace and quiet, a chance to recharge your batteries and if you are relatively self-sufficient.

This site is ideally situated as it is only across the road from the beach which is all pebbles until the tide is out when the sand is then apparent. Not a safe beach for children as it dips steeply.
The site is kept nicely by the staff with fairly flat pitches but the facilities leave a lot to be desired.
One end of the site has a very out dated shower block with an inadequate water supply and no shower facility for disabled people. At the far end of the site the 3 showers are in a newer block. The best shower on the site is in the disabled room which is extremely busy as it is left unlocked. I was told, an able bodied person complained they were being discriminated against by it being kept locked for only disable people to use. Being disabled myself, I couldn't use the other showers as there is a high step up into the block so impossible for me or people in wheelchairs to use. Being there is only the one disable facility on the site, one would query who is being discriminated against?
There are a lot of interesting places to visit being 1066 country side and once into Pevensey Bay there is a very good bus service to most places of interest.

Overall not impressed this is a flat open site with no shelter from strong winds, Pitch's a mixture of Hard standings and grass the shower blocks are old and dated the showers only ran luke warm after 5 minutes. Wardens must have been having an off week all very grumpy and un helpful. Dog walking area a boggy low path at the back of the site there is one small play area. The site has a small shop selling basic items and beach toys. Local village about 1. 5 miles away with take aways and a few shops. The beach is shingle with sand only at very low tide.
The Star pub in Normans bay does a good carvery or eastbourne has a good selection of cafe's and restaurants. The area is well worth visiting but I would find a different camp site.

Although you can't see the sea from the site, it is literally 100m away with great views up and down the coast.
The site is large and seemed to be filled with predominantly caravans and motorhomes.
Pitches around the edge of the field offered good privacy, however, we turned up without booking and all that was left was pitches in the middle of the field and that meant most people walking past us to get to the showers/toilets etc.
All pitches seemed well kept and neat.
Plenty of toilets, showers etc. One block was more modern than the other.
Little shop on site selling seaside toys and mostly dried and tinned food (as well as bread and milk).
No freezer to freeze ice blocks although they do rent them out for a small fee.
Point to note is that we overheard one of the campsite wardens telling someone they don't usually accept commercial vehicles and homemade conversions. Someone had turned up with a converted German army truck and it didn't seem to go down too well.
There is a pub about a mile away, but apart from that not a lot else within walking distance.
Relatively expensive, £25 a night for a campervan with hook-up (members rate, even more for non-members).

Broadhembury Holiday Park - Ashford
Just 15 minutes from Ashford and 25 minutes from fabulous beaches, you'll be ideally placed for exploring the Garden of England. The park is divided into a family area, that is close to the play parks, the sports field and the games room, and a peaceful adult-only area in The Meadows, that is ideal for couples. A range of grass and hardstanding pitches, fully serviced or non electric, catering for all sized of tents and caravans.
On both areas you will enjoy five-star, centrally-heated showers, and private cubicles with toilet, hand basin, dryers etc. Laundry and campers kitchens, a large childrens playground, sports field, games room and television lounge. The park has CCTV and WiFi is available for a small fee. A dog walking area is provided on site. Find out more here

We stayed there last week and have to say it was a big mistake and I would never recommend it to anyone.
We needed a large pitch for my van, husband's tent and car and ideally would have liked two close together or adjacent which we asked for. However, everything was too much trouble and it was a case of 'computer says no' despite there being many spaces available including 5 unused adjacent pitches just across a pathway. It was 7. 40pm and there were no additional pitches booked and nobody due to arrive after us.
We were shown to a horrible patch facing onto a hedge with barely sufficient space for the tent's guy ropes and to the other side was the loo block. Although larger pitches were available, there was no flexibility - we were to pitch there and not straddle the marker, which we didn't, but it was a squeeze to get two vehicles on. Through the evening, night and morning it was a thoroughfare as one would expect. To all sides we were hemmed in and forced to listen to the 5 different conversations, radios and TVs of our 5 groups of neighbours as we were thoroughly surrounded. We accept that this happens at busy periods (although the warden insisted this was a 'quiet' night) and is par for the course on some campsites. We could see everything was too much trouble for the warden so we meekly took up our spot and bedded down for the night with earplugs.
However, there was no excuse for the following morning when two wardens were heard slagging us off loudly to our neighbours. We were astounded - surely if there were an issue then this should have been politely raised with us. ? Another, approached my husband and was quite rude to him too. He is very easy going and never loses his temper - but he came very close. At this point we left. It was a horrible place with a horrible atmosphere and, although there was plenty of space, vans seems to be crammed together in groups, some of which seemed rather closer than the rulebook's 6m requirement, while there were lots of larger vacant spaces in other areas.
I would never recommend this site to anyone. Instead we moved to Cobbs Hill Farm at Bexhill which, apart from being considerably cheaper, we met with a most friendly owner, the invitation to pitch anywhere and our fellow campers were equally friendly too.
Generally the C&CC sites are usually good, but I have to say that this was the worst I've ever stayed on due to the attitude of the rude and grumpy wardens and there was no excuse for this in my opinion.

Excellent site, excellent location. Spent a week here in our folding camper and will certainly go back when we can.
Friendly and efficient site managers as usual with C&CC sites, offered choice of pitch and escorted there. Given advice on which way to orientate the camper re prevailing wind as being right on the coast it can be a bit blowy! We were next to the coast road but screened by some bushes, didn't suffer from any road noise though. (Sparrows on the other hand. How does something that small make that volume?
Site is nicely dog-friendly with walk along the river at the back of the site easily accessible and of course the beach just across the road, one of the few on which dogs are permitted. Be aware though, sand only appears at low tide, otherwise it's all shingle.
Toilet/shower facilities were fine, clean, tidy, everything worked, we only used the newer block as that was closest. Only 3 showers in each but didn't have to queue and in peak season they open the 3rd block.
Transport links probably amongst the best of any site we've used. Railway station about half a mile away, fast electric trains to Hastings one way, Brighton the other. Tickets were reasonably priced too - certainly compared to what we're used to at home.
The Star Inn, a little way beyond the station is well worth a visit for food & drinks, both excellent quality (Try the paella), dog friendly too.
A good site, pretty well occupied in June but fairly quiet, ideal for visiting this part of the south coast, definitely want to go again.

While I don't like large commercial sites, this one was just too quiet for me (not a sound after 8pm) on a Saturday night!
Showers woefully underpowered although hot & clean.
Site staff were pleasant & the shop was useful for bits & not overpriced.
Beach less than a minute away for the kids to play ball games or fly a kite, both of which are a no no on site along with firepits.
The site is more suitable for older couples in caravans in my opinion as there is not much there for little ones apart from a small playground,
That said, the bustling centre of Eastbourne is only a few minutes in the car. Not much of an atmosphere on this site which is why I would not return here.

We have just returned from another superb week at Normans Bay. This is our fourth visit here. We love the proximity of the beach and although it is quite a crowded site we had our best pitch so far. It felt quite spacious and was fairly close to the older block of facilities and not too far from the newer block.
If coming here I would suggest keeping away from the play area as it is noisy. This is the kind of site that people tend to stick around on during the day and so there is no respite. The trains go from early until late, but there is a service to Eastbourne or to Hastings which are both worth a visit.
In inclement weather I would suggest visiting the Sovereign Centre wave pool, which sadly was not working on this visit. Asda, Lidl and Tesco supermarkets are all in close proximity if you follow the coast road. Sovereign Harbour is peaceful with lots of restaurants.
We ate this time at the Star Inn. It was a good meal and there is a huge children's' playground.
Hastings is also worth a visit, almost better by train at the weekend. Try the cliff lifts, Smugglers Adventure, Castle or Aquarium.
Facilities on site are good and clean. There is a plentiful supply of hot water. We preferred the new block showers which were really good. The wardens check regularly. The hand drier in the old block ladies leads a lot to be desired and I find it frustrating that young children are allowed to use the facilities without adult company as there are occasions when the toilets are not always clean.
We had booked to go with other family members and, as requested in advance, were reserved pitches adjoining one another for which we were very grateful. We did, however, hear others complaining that they were not near one another so they were obviously not able to keep everyone happy. Mid week was much quieter in the week leading up to the bank holiday but we escaped on the Saturday as it has been quite noisy in previous years.
The on-site shop is well stocked although pricey but is good for the essentials.
The beach is shingle (we all have beach shoes) but at low tide it is beautiful with the Pevensey sand. We swam on four of the seven days and felt the water was very warm once you got under!
There are lots of caravans on this site and it is very windy, making cooking outside a tent quite hard. However, our Montana 6 has stood up quite well to some of the harsh conditions presented to us and has not put us off yet!
We will probably be back next year!

The site could not be better located for the beach and some great local attractions are within easy reach.
Whilst the site was busy at the time of our stay it didn't feel too hectic and was very quiet by 10. 30 at night.
The loos and showers were clean but they really need more shower cubicles and showers are of the 'over shoulder dribble' variety. I'm sure this at least could be tackled with minimal investment.
Staff on the site were a mixed bunch. One or two very helpful but on the flipside there were a couple of real miseries for whom everything seemed a chore!
Nice little shop for basics if you are running low on things and don't want to get in the car.
We ate at the Lamb Inn around 5/10 mins from the site as you head towards Bexhill. Menu promised a great meal but failed to deliver - perhaps we caught them on a bad day?
