 July 2004
A pleasant and attractive park in a rolling countryside setting with views down towards the sea. The pitches are a mixture of excellent multi-service gravel bases with individual hedging of varying substance, around the edges of each field, and more bog-standard pitches located in the middle.

We stayed on a multi-service pitch with huge hedges on 3 sides with the lane that runs through the middle of the site behind us, which was fantastic, spacious and gave us a great deal of privacy. Not all the multi-service pitches offer the same degree though, it depends where they are.

In terms of facilities, the toilets are clean and reasonably modern, although I think there would be a problem meeting demand at peak times. We went in the third week of July, just before peak season, and it was OK, but the site was probably no more than 70% full. There is a small but well-stocked shop, and away from the main park, a lovely pitch and putt course, a small fishing lake (at the bottom of a hill - it's one hell of a trek!), and a bar with adjoining cafeteria serving meals in the evening. The bar also serves food till 10pm, which was of a pretty good standard.

The bar only opens at night, and whilst it's a pleasant enough place, because it's quite a trek from the main site, it was hardly packed despite plenty of people being on the site. Most of the customers seemed to be friends and family of the site owners and their staff.

One thing we did find lacking was the absence of a pool. It really could do with one, and if they built one near the bar area, it might draw some more people down there.

Further afield, you must visit the village pub, "The Preston Gate", in Poughill, which is about 15 mins walk away. It's a perfect country pub, small, but serving outstandingly good food, and fairly busy most of the week.

Bude is a 10 min drive away, and has excellent beaches and a pleasant little canal which is quite unusual. As a town, however, take note that there's not much there. There's a few shops and a couple of supermarkets, along with cafes and chip shops, but don't go there thinking it's a bustling resort town that can keep you occupied for a fortnight, or that it's an attractive little seaside town like St Ives - it's not. If you've got kids, you might be better off heading for Newquay.

Also bear in mind that most of the area's tourist attractions are to the south of the site, and you'll probably spend a great deal of time heading up and down the same stretch of the A39. But if you can make your own entertainment, and keep yourselves occupied, or you like walking or surfing etc, then this is a really great place to visit.

 September 2003
We have been to this campsite for the past 2 years but we stayed in one of the static caravans on the site. We plan to go with the tent this year as we found the facilities very good. The site caters for tourers and campers with around 40 static caravans on site.
There are 3 seperate shower blocks with laundry/iron facilities. A nice pub which serves food (only open at night). Activities for children - pitch and putt, archery, tractor rides(certain times of year).
Nice views of surrounding countryside and sea with beautiful sunsets at night.
Around the site there is a pub, post office, chinese takeaway about a 5 min drive away and a little further to Bude town centre with plenty of shops, restaurants and pubs.
Two great beaches one with open air pool, coast to coast walk along cliff edge. A must visit if in the area.
Staff at park welcoming and friendly and I believe that the park is to be extended this year.

I thought this was a really nice park. The kids really enjoyed themselves. The beaches were really nice - especially Summerleaze. The beach had a huge pool which the kids loved. The park is nice and clean although the toilets were a little wiffy. I recommend paying for the family bathroom if only for the shower - it is excellent. The showers in the toilet blocks are push buttons and very hot.

 August 2003
Visited this site during the August heatwave! The site was very busy with families and couples, but that wasn't a problem, and it added to the holiday atmosphere!

The site is big, clean and well run. There are some good features to the site including a lovely bar/courtyard area (children welcome) which is well away from the pitches (so not noisy). The pitch and putt is also good, cheap and with some lovely views of the surrounding countryside. The playground looked good too. There's also a nice pub 10 mins walk down the road.

For provisions it's only 5 mins drive to the nearest superstore, and 10 mins into Bude itself.

Would visit again.
