Myself and my boyfriend went to topend farm for the weekend. We were very surprised at how large the field was and how peaceful it was. The playground was brilliant really bright and colourful. The toilets were basic but clean. The shop on site was brilliant, everything you could imagine and reasonable prices. I would definitely go back, for £8 a night, beautiful scenery, peace and quiet nothing could be better. Would definitely recommend it to anyone that likes camping the simple way.

We visited this site on August bank holiday weekend and stayed for 3 nights, What value for money this site is,It cost us (2 adults and 2 children and a dog) £24 for the whole stay.
After reading the reviews we were a bit worried that the toilet facilities weren't going to be sufficient for a full site,so to ease queueing time-the owners hired 4 portaloos(only had to queue once on sunday morning).
The owners were really friendly. The shop was like a little aladdins cave(had everything you could think of).
The children played at the park (which was in view from the whole site)for the whole weekend without once getting bored.
Another good point was we could arrive anytime after 9am on the friday and we didn't leave until after 5pm on the Monday as it was a glorious day, great not having to get up first thing and start packing.Would def recommend.

A lovely site, with plenty of space for the children to run around and a great park for them as well. The little shop has everything you need and the staff are very friendly and do anything to help you. There is a fish and chip shop on sat nights which is handy. There are 5 new porta loos which are very clean, but I would say they def need more showers as there are only 2, but apparently there is going to be a new shower and toilet block in the near future which will make the site 10 out of 10! Def will go back.

Hi all I took my 3 children aged 7,6,5 to this campsite as a first time camping holiday we went here for a long weekend this bank holiday just gone and I am already planning the next trip the children loved it.
The site facilities on the whole was fairly good.
The site was very big and has got quite a few electric hook ups the picture on this site does not do it justice.
There is a very good shop on site that sells pretty much any thing you may want. There are facilities for filling gas cans and blowing up air beds if you need them.
On a saturday evening there is a fish and chip van that come on site at 7.30.
The playarea was a very good size there was a few climbing frames and set of swings a shoe house slide and a fair size bmq or skateboarding ramp and plenty of space to play games like rounder or cricket.
The gent's toilet block had only one toilet and one urinal and a sink. The ladies had two toilets had two toilets but only one sink.
They have had new portable toilets put on the site they where quite clean and they flushed very easy and had hand sanitiser and where well stocked with toilet roll.
The site had two showers in different rooms they where a bit outdated but there was always hot water and only cost 20p (shower unit is getting updated this winter.)
The washing up area was a good size but did not alway have hot water.
In the surrounding area there is loads country trails you can walk along and quite few pubs and wild Britain formally known as the butterfly park also there is a swimming pool and golf course not too far away.

We visited this site as a family over the bank holiday weekend.
We chose this site because it was not too far to travel and was not too big (40 pitches is what we had read in the info) However there must have been at least 100 pitches there on Saturday. The toilet facities were inadequate and the 4 portaloos that had been brought in where unusable by Saturday evening. The toilet block was also a bit dodgy and in need of a good clean and repair - but there was a sign saying a new block was being built in the autumn. We did not venture into the shower!
Our main problem with this site was that there seem to be no rules or control at all. Whilst this may seem nice and informal it meant that it was very noisy and several big groups were playing loud music ang getting very drunk into the early hours of the morning. The play area seemed to attract the old teenagers after dark who were noisy and there were lots of cans and bottles in the park area the next morning. There were also some single sex groups and under 25's which is unusual. We did not sleep well! A number of families around us were also very unhappy and left early.
On a positive note we think this could be a nice site if there were a lot less people there and the toilet facilities were improved. The setting is pleasant, the shop well stocked and the play area was good. There was a fish and chip van that visited on Saturday evening which seemed popular. It was also good value for money (even though we left early!)
I would consider going to this site again in the future but would make sure it wasn't so booked up!

Wow- what a lovely little site!
Not done much camping before, so we're testing the water as to what's out there, but this site really ticked all the right boxes.
We were nervous after reading all the other reviews about the shower block, but really, the're fine- beautifully hot water (that you can adjust yourself instead of the standard on button and you get the temperature you're given!) these ones can be super warm if you want them too! 20p was enough for a standard shower, although another 20p handy is useful just in case you've just shampooed up and it turns off (although you really will have enough time!). Ok, so the block is a little tatty, but the're wondefully clean and so much space to get changed in before/after. No claustrophobia here or hopping around in 1m square trying to get changed!
You get given free-reign to pitch up wherever you like (although if you're hook up you're at the hook up and if not you're allowed everwhere else, and what's amazing is you can choose anywhere! if you have kiddies then you can pitch next to the playground, and if you're in a small tent like ours (gotta love the tesco value £10 jobbie!) you can pitch in the line of fruit trees at the back of the field, beautiful! (although there are a lot of waspies there) so if you're terrified of the critters like me you may prefer the field. Oh yes, the trees produce edible fruit (I must have eaten my own body weight in plums! teehee!)
Shop is lovely and stocks all sorts- locally produced fruit and veg at brilliant prices, I got a big bag of cherries for about £1, only thing they didn't stock though was citronella candels (I really really hate wasps!) or those incense for insect deterrant, so take these. Lady behind the till was super helpful with recommendations for things to do etc. (think she was the manageress) oh, the shop also have a microwave (20p charge) so if your bbq gets rained out, like ours did, worst case scenario bung ya sausages in there!
Ok, so there isn't much to do in the village- but a 3.5 mile nice walk to great Staughton has 2 pubs in for Sunday lunch/dinners. We went to the snooty inn on recommendation, it was nice, but pricey and tiny portions. The pub in little Staughton closes like, all the time, and wasn't open on a Sunday evening so watch out for this as we walked for about 25mins to get there- gasping for a pint and the bloomin' place was shut ended up driving around for half hour trying to find a pub that was open- again, thankyou great staughton! Grafham water also gives a lovely day out (driving time about 15 mins) but watch for the pricey parking.
All in all a lovely campsite for a truely chilled out break.

Very good basic site with the promise of new toilet and shower block this Autumn. Flat site that is exposed to the wind.Digital signal for Tele very weak internet coverage patchy I did manage to connect to the 3 net work. Childrens play field is un fenced so beware of dog owners who don't clear up after there animals. St,Neots and bedford with in easy reach.

This is a great site - let down only by the toilet / shower facilities. This weekend the site was the busiest we have ever seen - well over 100 units at least!. Not room left for children to play much as the field was full of tents, caravans etc. There are only 2 female toilets and 2 unisex showers and I understand only 1 urinal and one male toilet. The men's loos apparently have a notice that new toilet / shower facilities are to be built over the winter period but on enquiring whether the site would be open during the build was told that they are still awaiting planning permission. Please Please can this be sorted quickly as this site is lovely, the people running it are helpful and informative. The shop is reasonably priced and very well stocked. It's such a shame that it is spoiled by something that the owners are keen to put right and are being stopped by red tape.
We had a great weekend however, using facilities at the many attractions nearby! Would thoroughly recommend the Butterfly Farm - Wild Britain!

This was our first time out in our tent. The pitches were large with plenty of space between your neighbours. Staff very friendly and helpful, we were even given an extension cable to borrow as ours did not quite reach the hook up point. Excellent on site shop that sold everything you could possibly need. Large area for kids to play ball, frisbie etc and play area to keep them amused. The only down side to this site were the toilets and showers very basic and could have done with more supervised cleaning, you had to roll your trousers up to go to the loo floor was so wet. Also Sunday morning no hot water to wash up with.
Apart from that we would definitely go back for a weekend break.

Me and my partner and 3 children ( 7, 5 and 2 ) are very new to camping in fact this was only our second camping venture and we stayed at top end farm for 3 nights, being only 20mins drive from home we decided we would give it a go. I was totally shocked at the size of the field, it was massive ! The friendly young lad told us to pitch wherever we liked as we were on a non electric hook up pitch.
The children's park here keep all three of my children totally amused the whole stay, in fact we hardly see anything of them - which was great ! The park has play swings, a big boot which has a slide, climbing frames, a little house and a skate boarding ramp for the older kids - not that it stopped mine. They really enjoyed themselves.
The site also has a small shop on site which stocks pretty much everything you could possibly want, a little pricey but with big supermarkets only 4 miles away, it was great to take the children to get some sweeties.
The toilet block a little basic ( but always had lots of toilet roll) and the showers could do with upgrading or even just a shower curtain to stop the floors from getting so wet, but this certainly will not stop me from going back. All in all fantastic value at just £8 a night - you cant go wrong
