Very spacious farm site a few miles out of Bakewell. There's three large fields; one for caravans and tents with electrics round the edges, one for families at the back and one for groups at the side. This meant we could have a peaceful camp and BBQ without being disturbed by the larger groups who were kept separate. Friendly owners and very inexpensive to camp with a tent (£4 adults and under 5's free), a short walk to clean toilets and washrooms with free hot water, and well maintained camping areas. There's a few rope swings in the trees for kids but no major entertainment/play areas so make sure you bring games to keep the little ones occupied. There are no shops or pubs nearby (the farm is in an isolated location) so make sure you're well packed - however if you like walking then simply exit at the back of the campsite and walk through two fields and you're overlooking the beautiful Lathkill Dale with walks along the valley. We will return at the next opportunity!

Stopped here overnight and was very impressed. The camping field was well looked after and the toilet blocks were clean and of decent quality. The owners were also very friendly and welcoming. Also the price made this great value for money site. The only downside I can see is the distance from shops or pubs, but as we arrived very late and it was just an overnight stay it was perfect. Overall I would recommend to anyone.

Lovely site. Toilets are basic yes but they work and they always had loads of loo roll. Gentle walk 2 minutes from camp area to toilet and washrooms. Picturesque site with short drive to bakewell. Amazing value for money in my opinion. If you are looking for a 'flash' site this isn't for you but if you want charm, character and great value it is.

We booked to stay here for two nights, on arrival we couldn't get the attention of the owners, and had to ring them to come to the door. We made our way to the field as directed, however the road was very broken up and potholes full of water. We chose a 'pitch' next to the electric hook up, there are no clearly defined pitches and we only had room for our very small van, with only a few feet from the neighbours on either side, if we had put up our awning we would have been touching the neighbours. We had to park the car in front of the caravan. The ground was nothing more than a field and was not very well kept at all.

The facilities were a good 100 yds from where we were pitched, and the ground was wet and muddy in places, so much so that my husband slipped in the mud and twisted his knee, which prevented us from going on our planned dog walk.

There was a sign saying dogs should be on lead and under control, however we seemed to be the only campers who kept their dogs on lead, there were several dogs wandering round the site and round our van, which caused distress to one of our dogs who is fear aggressive of others strange dogs! This was a major issue for us as we could not relax with several dogs round our pitch, and is something that needs to be addressed.

I'm sure if you are looking for back to nature camping then this would be fine, reasonably priced. We however did not stay for the second night and left early.

Under the current state, I would not go back to this site again

I love this site, the owners are very nice people and help in every way possible. The price is reasonable. When campers do the duke of Edinburgh awards the site can get busy but the toilet blocks are always cleaned and plenty of toilet paper and ample of hot water for the showers and washing. The blocks might be a short walk away depending on which field you are sited.

The owner sell drinks and icecream in the warmer months. And there is a separate family block with toilet and shower. Separate wash sinks for pots and pans etc.

The children play with the tyre swing and ropes tided to a couple of trees and see the horses in the next field.

The grass sometimes gets long but does that matter I just use my wellies.

The site has a great location next to lakekill dale and nice walks and only a short drive to the town centre of bakewell and the park. I have been using this site for a few years now and even liked it that much left my van on site for over a year so I could go when ever we got free time. I would recommend this site as a down to earth campsite, prices are good value and brilliant owners and friendly dog (buttons). It might be basic camping but we would not have been able to enjoy so many weeks ends away at more expensive places, this place is in the ideal location, brill brill brill and we make our own entertainment. Back to nature. Cant wait to get back there again year after year

We spent 3 nights in our folding caravan, with a group of friends under canvas (actually, it's all nylon nowadays!) The site offers basic facilities which can be a bit of a hike, depending on which of the fields you are camping in. The caravan field has electric hook up but the tenting field does not (although we ran a cable from the caravan field, over a wall, and into the tenting field where we had set up our caravan to be with our tenting buddies. The management were fine with this arrangement once they had traced the 'mystery' hook up and found us on the other end of it!) The grass was on the long side so take your wellies for any wet weather / dewy mornings. The site is beautifully located, slightly elevated and surrounded by mature trees.

You can access the beautiful Lathkill Dale by taking a short stroll directly from the site; well worth the effort. The site was busy over the weekend but did not feel crowded as it covers quite a large area. Camping is pretty informal, with few rules and regulations, giving it a very laid back atmosphere. We had two sunny days (yes, it's hard to believe, I know!)and enjoyed barbecues in the evenings, along with just about everyone else on the site.

There are no 'proper' shops in the immediate vicinity unless you can live on crisps, chocolate, ice cream and fizzy drinks! However, the pretty little town of Bakewell is only some 3 miles away and offers everything you could possibly need; supermarket, all manner of shops, restaurants and reasonable pubs. We enjoyed a cracking meal in The Peacock in Bakewell, but there are other attractive looking pubs in the area! You are truly spoilt for quality walking in this area. Chatsworth House (5 miles away) is well worth a visit, with it's impressive grounds and architecture.

To summarise: a pretty, if basic, site with very reasonable rates, being close to scenic walks and places of interest.

I can see the attraction of this site for campers, particularly if you are a group of families. We were in a campervan and the grass in the electric area was half way up my shins and there were flies everywhere.

Toilets are basic, and a long walk.

However this is a very reasonably priced site, but I would not recommend for campervans. As others have said good honest camping, but you need to create your own atmosphere.

This campsite is about 15 minutes drive from Bakewell, set right back off the road. On arrival we were welcomed by a terrier called Buttons who was on the bonnet of our car, needless to say we now have some paint work done, £4. 00 PPPN from 12 upwards, £2. 50 per Car & £3. 50 EHU,

The shower/toilet block, needs some work to it and could do with a very good clean & dusting. There is a family room, which looks older than the rest of the site. You then drive down the lane and the Eslan is on your right, which would make you sick if you were to fill your lungs.

Once passed there you enter a big field and this is were your EHU is with mobile caravans. If you follow the road straight on you come to a Family Field which is nice and quite, turn right and then you come to the Groups field, which can be a little noisy, these seem to be the Duke of Edinburgh Awards. Once you a settled, you have a hike to the Showers & Toilets, the grass was over grown and on a slight slop down.

We have been to a lot better site's for £23. 50 and will not be going back any time soon.

We are travelling all over the country at the moment and although this site is a perfect position for walking etc.

The site itself was not to our liking. The grass was well overgrown. Our camper was in the middle of the field and there were no paths leading to the main path to the toilets. So therefore, having rain, it was a real pain to have to trudge through 2ft high grass that was soaking wet and especially in the night with no lights!

Toilets and showers really bad. The showers just dribbled warm water and were push button. The toilets looked like they had been converted from a sheep branding station to toilets! Washbasins not much improvement.

We were given no information whatsoever on the area. We had to find out for ourselves. If you need a bus from here, you come out the gate of the campsite, turn immediately right, walk down the lane (about 1 mile) and a bus comes along there about once every 2 hours. You just put your hand out and he will stop. Same coming back.

Lots of groups camp here so it could be a bit noisy with teenagers.

No shop on site (only chocolate and crisps!) so make sure you get your milk etc from Bakewell.

Ignoring the conditions, the area is beautiful and we would love to go back there, but definitely not to this site.

I made the mistake of arriving on a very wet day when the place was very full, a large proportion being Duke of Edinburgh Award campers.

Unfortunately the Duke of Edinburgh has not seen fit to teach them to lift the toilet seat, so you can imagine the result.

Avoid like the plague in similar circumstances.

Can't rate customer service as the only contact I had was to pay.
