Haddon Grove is a typical picturesque Derbyshire farm site. There are 3 fields with the right hand side one being for groups which is where we pitched. This field is relatively flat being surrounded by dry stone walls and trees to 3 sides and one side fencing to a paddock. Being Easter weekend we thought the site would be mobbed but we were pleasantly surprised that even though it was busy, we all had enough personal space.
The only down side to this site is the toilet and shower facilities which are inadequate for the amount of people this site can take. There are only 2 showers in the ladies loos and 4 toilets which means queues are inevitable. There is a family shower room with a shower and toilet big enough to house even the all the "Waltons" but this was frequently blocked!
If this site was to improve by putting shower and toilet facilities in each field - they would certainly need to take bookings.
This site however is good value for money, therefore why anyone would feel the need to take a generator is beyond belief! £2.00 a night for electric hook-up is as cheap as chips! It wouldn't have been too bad had they turned it off at a reasonable time but one night it went on into the early hours of the morning and when asked politely to turn it off, the "lady" gave out such a torrent of abuse that I didn't think was possible for a female!
Still, their selfishness did not spoil our time here and we would definitely recommend this site to those who like "peace and quiet" (well without any generators it would be!) and basic facilities!

Don't go at peak periods - this place is very packed, very noisy and very dirty. Outside peak periods it is a fabulous site in a fantastic setting, which I have walked by many times. But we turned up there last weekend and were warned off by a very upset caravanner who had already pitched up to find she was then invaded by hordes of rowdies. I know farmers need to make money, but there is a downside to packing in people like sardines and that is they will lose the custom and faith of 'real'campers who are not just out for a raucous weekend when the weather gets nice.

Just wanted to recommend this site. We spent 3 nights here, although weather not it's best plenty to go and see in the local area to keep you busy. Perfect site if you want to disappear from the usual troubles of day to day life and appreciate the beautiful countryside and views.
We will definitely be visiting again. Already booked

This is a brilliant site for families. The views are breath taking. The facilities are basic but at the end of the day you are camping. Very laid back site and farmer to match. Brilliant walks and if you follow the trails they absolutely fabulous. There is a great tea shop in Bakewell that does breky the best car park is the agriculture car park it might seem a long walk from the centre but it is only 2mins over the bridge.
The kid's loved the horses that were in the field at the bottom and the odd loose sheep that was wandering (very friendly). We had lots of fun playing games. The only knock down about the site is the grass could have been cut but it was not a bad thing we just left several tennis balls for the stray sheep to play catch with.
Are going back this weekend 27TH April 2006 really looking forward to it. We visited many times last year from May through to October and plan to do so for many years to come

We have been going to this wonderful haven for 10 years and hope to continue for many years to come, owner of site very friendly, facilities basic but just what you need to get away from the rat race, great walks to Monyash and Youlgreave, other campers never a problem, if going for the weekend get there early as it does get very busy in the summer months.

We stayed 3 nights here over the Aug Bank hol. Toilet facilities basic and struggled to cope with the amount of people here during this time. They were nice & clean on Fri afternoon but despite the good efforts of the owners, ended up a bit grotty. Suspect this is only a problem at the busiest periods though. Also a bit of a hike from most of the site - even got some idle folk driving to the loo!
Plenty of choice of pitches but grass could do with a trim. Trees round fields give good shelter from wind and give kids plenty of areas to explore & play. Location of site good - recommend the walks down into Lathkill dale, just behind the site.
Overall, I would recommend the site and would probably return, but not on a BH weekend! A second amenity block and a lawnmower would make this good site a great one. ps If you like quiet, avoid the 'group' field.

Three visits to this site in 2005 - May - July and August. This is everything a campsite should be. There is plenty of space and access to some fine walks straight from the site. Good under an hour walk takes you to the Lathkill Hotel in Over Haddon. Good mix of tents and caravans, famalies, groups and couples. The amenities are basic and not always exhibiting the highest state of cleanliness, although better for the women than for men (so I understand). However, the overall feel of the site is good. On our third visit I couldn’t help but notice there were still some people in tents on the site who had been there on our second visit

What a great campsite, no frills but all you need is here! The farmer is really chilled and friendly. Went with my brother and 4yr old neice and the location was ideal, fantastic views and great walks. Great pub food down at the Bull at Monyash, gets busy so be early! Would definitely go again soon.

This site clean, but shower /toilets require refurb, still mangaged to use family shower room had hot water, but long queue at peak times (morning / eve) Children loved looking at the ponies, the views are fantastic, we even had a couple a bagpipers playing in the evening!, Bakewell only 5 miles very nice town! overall a good basic site! will return!

April 2005 A good 'no frills' site with lots of room, was very muddy when we went at the end of April. Great views and easy access to open fields. Farmer was really friendly and very relaxed about letting us have a look around and find a pitch before paying. Separate fields for families and groups. No pub nearby. Will go back.
