First time my family and I have visited this site.
Arrived on the Saturday on the end of May Bank Holiday. Although had phoned ahead, was told wouldn't need to book. On arrival went to reception, told to pitch up where we wanted and come back and pay. Although arrived at midday, still plenty of areas available. It had been raining heavily all the week before, but ground was well drained and firm.
Pitched up and was joined by the other two familys who were camping with us. Site had plenty of other groups and D of E youths, but all really well behaved. At time of visit cost £12 a night for 4 of use including two kids under 10.
Only one toilet & shower block near the farm house for the whole site. Women's and Family showers free of charge, however mens was 20p per 2 minutes - plenty of hot water though, no queues, even at peak times, but a bit of a walk from some of the far pitches. Although there were no hooks or anywhere to put towels or washing bits, and the floors got quiet wet and muddy.
Site was surround by fields full of horses, who didn't mind the kids approaching them, nor did the farm staff, who were friendly and helpful, and were happy to talk about the horses at length. Apparently they are thinking of offering horse rides in the future - but sadly not at present. Kids could run free around the site, and loved the rope swing.
As other reviews, Lathkill Gorge was accessed from the site. After a steep decent into the Gorge, a 1 hour walk away along the bottom was the Village of Monyash with the great Bull's Head pub, with a good beer garden and fantastic play area. Didn't try the food but looked good.
Site owner did drive around the site a couple of times a day checking up. On day of leaving, there was no set time to leave by or any pressure to do so.
Overall, basic site, but really good mix of sheltered and sun drenched pitches, kids loved it, will use again often.

Have used this site before. Last year they have upgraded the toilets to a good standard, far better than the last ones. Fields separated ie groups in back, families in top field, touring caravans in the main field, with overspill for families is a good idea. More waterpoints, more electric points. This site is quiet and safe for children ie no traffic. Had a good Easter, weather was good and we will go back again soon.

Been to this campsite on numerous occasions, went 3 years ago for first time when we couldn't get on any other sites. First impressions were it is quite basic to some of the other sites we have been to but really laid back and relaxing. Not been to any other sites since, keep coming back to this one and we absolutely love it.
Not far from Bakewell approx. 2 miles and a nice drive into Buxton approx. 10miles, there is a pub in Monyash that has an outdoor childrens play area and really nice meals approx. 2 miles.
The campsite is fantastic for the kids as it is quite far from the road and you can let the kids roam and play without worrying about them wandering. Toilet and shower block clean but basic and a family shower room but make sure you have a shower early at busy times eg Bank holidays. They sell gas bottles, cans of pop, ice creams, sweets and crisp at certain times of the day. We are going again this weekend with family and friends we keep recommending this site to more of our family and friends and up to now everyone of them have really enjoyed it. The owner is really friendly and laid back.

Lovely location, in the middle of nowhere type thing, but close to Bakewell.
They have different fields for different types of visitors which we appreciated being in the quiet family field, where you can't hear the noisy group field.
Really laid back atmosphere. Toilets / Showers decent enough but only 2 for each gender.
No pubs etc within walking distance and nothing for the kids to do apart from a rope swing. It's fine though if you're not expecting to find a playground or anything.
Will defo return again!

Took two silver d of e groups to this site. Was in the group field and it was lovely.
Peaceful and loads of room.
Good price, friendly owners, dog friendly as they have plenty of dogs themselves.
Fantastic walking area with Lathkildale not too far for a short stroll.
No shops or pubs within easy walking distance for food.
Gotta rope swing for young un's.
Shower ad toilet block was fine, clean and tidy. Didnt try the showers though.
Will definitely go back

Used this site for a DofE expedition.
Be prepared for a noisy night at busy periods. Parties and TVs blaring until the early hours.
If you take a group (DofE or Scouts etc) make sure you get a pitch in the group field, it is the quietest field. We booked to go in the group field but it was full when we arrived. We had to pitch in the main field which was too noisy for kids on a DofE expedition.
It's cheap. Owners are very friendly. Area is outsanding.

This was our first visit to haddon grove, the owners were very friendly and helpful, the site fees I found very reasonable for a caravan pitch. The park is set in a very nice area for walks, lathkill dale at the north end of park. The toilts when reasonably clean, but showers could do with updating, no curtain, or anywhere to hang cloths, but reasonably hot. There is a seprate area under cover for washing pots, with plenty of hot water. We were pitch in the groups area, with a bit of a trek if you needed the loo in a hurry. Overall, we had a very relaxing stay with good weather would certainly go back again.

We camp here every summer or so with a group of friends. Its very basic, but at £2 a night (if you don't have a car) its brilliant value.
We get the bus into Bakewell and then walk up to the site, there is a bus passing every our or so, but we prefer the slog!
It is in a wonderful position, just above Lathkill Dale, although it is a bit too far from bakewell for my liking.
There is plenty of space, and it varies from silent to chaotically noisey, depending on whether or not a rugby team have decided to pitch there camp around you or not. (As happened in 2006)
The number of showers is limiting, only 2 in the gents and 3 in the ladies, and 1 family shower (which by the way is liscense as a gents) And they are, although not dirty, very grotty and dated.
The owners are very nice and will provide you with milk and supplies if you need it.
Overall, I have to say, that despite its flaws, I love this site and will definitely be going again.

Traditional site consisting of 3 fields, one for groups, one for mainly tourers or general use and one for families. Nice views if you can get a good spot, however in the family field a lot of people seem to set up camp with tents, awnings and cars in such a way to block the views from everyone else. The toilets are a long walk from the family field(be warned with little ones) and when you do reach them there are only four toilets with a sink in each and one shower in the gents and one in ladies. So there are long queues at peak times. The floor was constantly wet and dirty. There is also a family shower, which is a larger room with one shower in it. The campsite was quiet after 10:30 and no one had music blaring out. Although our neighbours kept running there car engines at times for up to an hour!(think this had something to do with electric cool boxes in the boot??) Also people kept jumping in their cars to drive to the loo's! so lots of banging doors. There were no bins around and everyone had to dump the rubbish in a skip which had overflowed come Sunday afternoon. All in all a good campsite, traditional with minimum facilities but can take an awful lot of people/tents/caravans. Very friendly welcome, good walks from the campsite . Reasonably quiet, could do with some improvements to toilets/washing up areas just because of the number of campers it is trying to cater for! Would happily go again.

We are new to camping and wanted a site that would also accept dogs (we have two). The farmer was very friendly and laid back. Dogs welcome, as long as on leads and you clear up after them etc. There are many walks from the campsite itself. There are 3 large fields and families and groups are in separate fields, Views from the family field are fantastic. Facilities ok, but I would imagine only having 2 showers for male, 2 for female and a family shower room being too few for the busy season. Toilets etc reasonably clean for the volume of people. Separate room for washing up pots and pans. Tuck shop on site for crisps/ pop etc. There are lots of places for children to play and horses and ponies for them to look at. Easy to find and only a couple of miles away from Over Haddon which also has lots of great walks, a pub and an ice cream/ snack shop. Will definitely go back.
