Friendly and helpful staff from the start. I was offered a pitch close to the children play area which I happily accepted, as convenient to our needs.

However, it was also next to the road I drove into site on. This only became a problem at night (ALL night!) when some boy racers used the road, ignoring speed limits, peace, and safety of anyone else. It would have been nice to see some security dealing with though as I didn't feel very safe in a tent! Less of that as I have complained to the site.

It was lovely surroundings, and really good for children on the main field, sturdy play area, well maintained, good sized pitch, but ground is hard, take your best pegs! Little beach was ideal, and close to bar so you could really relax while kids play safely.

Awesome evening entertainment, bit of everything, kids disco, bingo, show and so on. Small on site shop was ok. (Nisa). Also small co op in nearby Coningsby. Lovely walk by lakes, and saw some of th speedboats and water skiing available. Showerrooms/ toilets, well I've seen better but its a busy site.

In all, we had a good stay (minus the all night race track) but I would stay in the quieter meadow area if I went back.

Our first time properly camping. We LOVE IT! So this site obviously was a hit with us and made us fall in love with camping.

4 out of 5.

PROS:

1) Beautiful site.

2) The lakes are stunning. Some quiet ones which are picturesque and some like the jetski one which are fun to sit and watch people, full of action!

3) All staff were friendly and very helpful

4) Toilets/shower blocks very well looked after and maintained and kept clean and even kept clean by the guests.

5) Fantastic little sandy beach/sea area with deck chairs

6) Great little enclosed football pitch

7) Pitches were level and had no problem pegging

8) A good mixture of tents, motorhomes and vans

9) Great entertainment for kids at night and the adults!

10) Bar has skysports! (Kept hubby happy!)

11) Great on site shop, had everything we wanted including things I didn't know I needed like citronella candles, a windbreak, painkillers and hot chocolate!

12) massive site to walk dogs round or without a dog.

13) food is nice from the cafe/restaurant

14) co-op, chinese, bank machine is 5mins in the car

15) bigger village with little shops and hardware shops is 15mins away in a car

16) lincoln is 35mins away

CONS

1) Not allowed to take your dogs into ANY of the buildings such as bar (upstairs one or downstairs) or cafe. Which when weather isnt warm enough to sit outside you have no choice but to stay on your tent! A lot of sites these days allow dogs into the bar areas.

2) NOT a single pub nearby allows dogs in.

3) Alcohol in the on site bar is VERY expensive

NOTE:- RAF base is near. Jets are nice to look at and bombers. However for me after 10mins the excitement of watching the jets do loop the loop wore off and the noise got on my nerves. They didn't do it on the weekend but did all day everyday Monday and Tuesday. It didn't bother my husband at all and he would put this as a pro! I would put this as a con. So thought it better just to note it :)

Hope my first review has been helpful :)

Cant wait to return but perhaps sometime without a dog.

Returned from a visit to this site to meet up with University friends as it was equidistant for us all. They stayed in a static and a wood lodge which they were happy with but we took our caravan and at £40 a night for the bank holiday weekend and only electric hook up it was very overpriced!

On arrival at the barrier a man in a high vis jacket made us back the van up and pull it into a side area while I went into the office, the lady in the office said as we obviously had a caravan with us we should have gone straight through to the touring site reception area! So we had to turn the van around and find the touring reception.

Eventually we found it and were given a useless information bag! I say useless as the map didn't show where you could get fresh water or where to take your waste and there weren't any prices for the activities!

We were allowed to choose a pitch in a very busy area where tents are alongside side vans and there's no clear direction where cars should park or even drive through this maze!

The ground was hard and had lots of pot holes everywhere! We found 1 fresh water tap which had a huge queue of people wanting to fill barrels!

We had our dog with us and kept him on the lead on the park which everyone else also seemed to do but there is no where on site to let dogs off lead and no information available from the site of places nearby where you can do this! We did find an area just over the road from the site where you can let your dog off the lead but you have to cross a busy road to reach it! I'm sure they have space here to fence an area off for dogs to chase a ball and it would have made our stay less troublesome!

We didn't use the shower block because I looked in and found a small number of shower and toilet cubicles that looked dirty and certainly not enough to service the amount of tents and vans on site.

We did use the swimming pool and were given a coloured band which we later realised would allow you 1 hour in the pool so it doesn't get overcrowded. The changing room is an absolute joke and was so bad we did not want to go again, much to the dismay of our 8 year old. It's unisex with only 4-5 cubicles and a couple of showers! So as we were trying to get out if the pool after our 1 hour and have showers and get dried the people arriving for their 1 hour slot were also trying to use the cubicles to change! So we were left standing freezing cold in a queue for a cubicle as we didn't want to strip off in front of the opposite sex!

They need to really improve the changing facilities for the pool as we weren't the only ones upset and angry about it.

The touring area is close to the facilities which can be good but not at 12am when your trying to sleep and can still hear the thumping music even with ear plugs in!

It rained heavily while we were there and our pitch stayed mostly dry but there huge pools of water around the site and some pitches were like lakes so beware!

We found one chemical disposal point which is next to the pot wash area in the toilet block, this small area also has the grey waste emptying drain in the floor! So again we queued to empty the grey waste and then the loo! Not a nice experience to listen to everyone's toilets empty!

We had a nice weekend due to being with our friends but we will not return with our caravan or recommend it to our friends!

Lovely area but I will find a site with fully serviced pitches that don't charge the earth for them!

Our first time at this site, a mid week getaway. When we arrived we were greeted by a friendly warden who gave us our welcome pack, a brief outline of the facilities and directed us to our pitch, the pitch was flat and even and near enough to all the facilities and entertainment complex. The site is very pretty, The loos were clean and showers nice and hot, the fishing was good, the shop although small had plenty in and if it wasn't in stock you only had to ask and they would try and get it in for you, the entertainment complex had a small arcade, pub, restaurant and health spa, bingo on every night and lots of activities for the kids. With RAF Conningsby close by, sometimes you would get jets flying by, although a bit loud it wasn't really a bother when you got a birds eye view of them zooming by and loop the looping. Close by is Tattershall castle which is great fun to explore some great views from the top of the castle. We really enjoyed the time at this site it was very relaxing and would definitely stay again.

WOW ! What a place. We were helped by the staff having got ourselves lost on the site on arrival and given the option to choose any pitch we liked. This was our first time out with our caravan and we're so glad this was recommended to us. The site is kept very clean including the shower/loo areas. Free air displays from RAF Conningsby were an added bonus. We will Definitely stay here again and again.

Just arrived for a few days on the touring parkon sun 19th april directed to a pitch on the far side of the site. Very scruffy place with bit of rubbish all over. Only one water point for the whole site there is more if you dare dis connect the water supply from the supersite, this was what the marshall told us, then came monday oh my god the planes started every few minutes and went on till 10. 30pm. Monday went tuesday came contractors decided to dig a trench in front of our caravan and on the other side they started digging up the road. That carried on till thursday. We decided to go club have poke round and see the camp entertainment wow was we in for a dissapointment place deserted £3. 65 for 2 halves of lager. Came back to caravan and bury our heads in the pillows to drown the sound of the planes. Al well we learn as we go on certainly wont be back oh went down to the quiet site looks like when it was wet it looks like a tank training ground. This part is full of contractors caravans all grouped together. Health and safety don't meen a thing to the 6 meter rule. Good luck to all that attend this place. As weekend end retreat its not that bad but midweek forget it.

Planned to stay here for the 3 nights over the Easter BH weekend, as part of a 4 unit family group (3 tents and a caravan).

Unfortunately, things went from bad to worse, from booking more than 2 months in advance, to arrival on site.

No need to go into full detail, suffice to say, we were told different things from different people in their admin dept during the booking process. They lost our details and called the wrong person to re-gather the correct info (They nominated me as 'group leader', but unfortunately rang my son for the details. All of which he wasn't aware of, [whereas I was, of course] which added to the 'confusion'!)

After weeks of requesting it, one member of the group finally received their confirmation the evening before arrival. And the dates were wrong! Let's just say the 'phone call wasn't pretty!

Earlier in the process, one member of our group rang to pay their balance, only to be told it had already been paid. After insisting it hadn't, they were told 'not to worry about it, and enjoy your stay'. Suffice to say, a week later, they received a letter requesting 'immediate payment of the balance'!

On arrival (after a few days of rain, in fairness), we were offered 'pitches' which were far from suitable for tents! Yes it had been raining, but if the pot holes and craters had been filled in during close season, we might just about have stood a fair chance of not having to sit our tents in somewhat deep and large puddles!

The final straw however, was the less than customer-friendly attitude of one of the welcoming team.

It all forced us to make the decision to run for the sanctuary of 'anywhere but here'! We just couldn't face it! A quick trip to the main reception on the way out resulted in us being advised to put our concerns in writing, which we subsequently did.

In all honesty, following subsequent reviews elsewhere, and personal accounts from friends who did stay, it became apparent that we made the right decision, and that it wasn't a particularly successful weekend for the site staff/owners. Talk of campers being packed in like sardines, power cuts galore, closed amenities/club house, and lack of catering were rife, to say the least.

There are good reviews, of course, and I guess this was simply a case of wrong place, wrong time.

I guess it was just one of those weekends where pretty much everything went wrong for them. Some of their own doing, some through no fault of their own/sheer bad luck, I guess.

I doubt we'd ever have the confidence to try again, but if I had to recommend anything, I'd probably say give them a go, (due to other good reviews) but only when the weather has been at least half decent, and certainly not during bank holiday weekends, when it appears, they push themselves to the limit, and do themselves no favours!

The final outcome is probably the only positive from this whole experience. Nine days (7 working days) after our 'concerns' were aired in writing, we at least received an honest, humble, and respectful apology, along with a promise to try to improve certain aspects of their service, and a cheque representing a full refund.

It was written in such a way that, whilst not sycophantic or patronising in any way, convinced me that, as a company, they genuinely do care about their customers' experience, they do hold their hands up when things go wrong, and they do try to at least make amends, following such an unfortunate chain of disappointments.

I think it would be unfair of me to have expected any more than that, and for that at least, they do regain at least some of my respect.

Having only lasted approx. 20 mins on site, it goes without saying that my ratings could be construed by some as being a little unfair, but I can only rate them according to my experience.

Stayed here for the weekend with family and 2 dogs and can honestly say we all thoroughly enjoyed our time here. So much to do yet so relaxing as well. Nice and clean park with friendly staff. Shower's, toilet's are all kept clean tidy. Plenty of water activities to do through out the day. Overall we all had a good weekend and will return

Stayed here a couple of years back for a long weekend and for most of the time it was full of chavs, this time we stayed mon-fri, (no chavs)and at less than £5/night inc elec it was fantastic value. They seem to have sorted the pitches out as well(they are now sort of marked out).

The touring site was about a third full so we were given a choice of where we wanted to go. We chose the right hand side field, so with this in mind why were we taken to pitch, where a day later work started on laying drains within 10 yards of our pitch ? on our field there was no fresh water tap or grey water drain and the nearest one was out of commission for the last couple of days.

The toilets were spotless all the time we were there. But one block is of the portaloo type.

Be warned there is throughout the week constant aircraft noise, it is relentless and mind numbing, and goes from 10 in the morning until the small hours.

It wouldn't be so bad if they were just taking off and landing but a lot of time during the day they are doing stunts reminisant of the red arrows. At times the whole caravan would vibrate.

The site is gorgeous and in any other location it would be perfect.

 20th August 2014

7 nights Camping

2 Adults 2 Kids 9 & 10

This was the second time we have stayed at Tattershall and I just thought it was time to review.

On arrival we were again met by the friendlest team, nothing was too much trouble and as it we were quite early 11. 30 we had our choice of pitch.

The site was well maintained with flat level grass pitches although the ground has stones just underneath so look out for plenty of bent pegs.

Toilet and shower facilities were clean most of the time and if you look hard you will find a couple of rows of Porta-Cabin ones that are private & clean with electric showers. Very Nice!

For a very large site and very busy there was never too much noise or roudiness.

All the staff were friendly and helpful even the bar staff remained calm when every customer said 'HOW MUCH?' so needless to say we did most of the socialising around the tent.

Not a great deal to do for the Kids (2 girls) so when they had played in the very small park it was easy for them to get bored. Not really tree climbers or fisherman!

The evening entertainment was standard with outside stage weather permitting including movies for the kids.

The swimming pool was absolutely freezing so only a quick dip everyday was what we managed.

Overall we had a 3 hour 150 mile drive from Preston so the question is would we do it again? Not sure, if they improved the facilities for the kids them maybe.
