Visted park as had good facilities for the kids, the pools great and water sports fab, roads could do with a tidy but overall really good holiday, local town a bit drab but woodall sap great for eating out

Flat pitches so good for touring, near to water and club house. Food ok but could do better, the club house could do with a refurb and as the pool is all new and spa very relaxing. More kids arcade be good, but the golf course on site was really nice.

First time to area and worth a visit.

Traffic a bit slow to get to park as a lot of single roads from a1,

There go karting near by and skegness not too far away for the day.

After staying over bank holiday weekend in August we felt compelled to add a review of this site after our experiences:

1 SIGNPOSTING- As we approached the campsite we found that the signposts for the site were none existent until being right on top of the site. Even then the sign for 'Tatershall Lakes' was almost completely obscured by the shrubbery.

2)CHECK IN- At reception we found the lady to be friendly and helpful, however the map that we were given and the lack of signs directing you around the sight were problematic to say the least.

3)PITCH AREA- When arriving at our pitch area it was evident that there were no clearly marked pitch areas. This became more of a problem as the site became busier as due to car parking and more tents it decreased the walking areas to get to and from the only clear exit to use toilet facilities.

There are plenty of electric hook ups available but this did not apply to us.

There are park areas for children which always looked busy and the children looked like they were enjoying themselves, once again though we didn't require the use of this facility as we had no children with us.

4)SHOWER FACILITIES- There was only one main shower block for the whole site and despite there being numerous portaloos/showers they still got very dirty and had no soap or toilet roll majority of the time. Also there was no step and the drop from the toilet was fairly high and certainly inaccessible to any person that is infirm/disabled without assistance. There were no hand dryers in the portaloo toilets.

5)GENERAL FACILITIES- The pot washing area was far too small, with only three sinks for the whole campsite. This inevitably led to queues, whilst this may sound a minor complaint the water wasn't really hot and the sinks were too low and dirty. The low nature of the sinks caused back ache when washing a small amount of pots even.

The CLUBHOUSE was smart and tidy with friendly staff. However, our party found the seating areas to be too small considering the size of the site. We arrived one night at about 8pm to find that all the downstairs seating area was full, and had no choice but to go upstairs. This was to our preference as it seemed more relaxed and quieter. This area had tvs, pool tables and snooker tables (snooker free) and views over the lake which were nice.

The site offers a wide range of activities which are best to be pre-booked when booking your pitch. We tried to book a number of activities only to be informed to either 'go back', 'they weren't open until later', 'the instructors weren't there to book you in' (jet skiing). Ultimately this led to us being unable to partake in any of the activities we had in mind when booking, it also seemed as with other facilities they weren't able to cater sufficiently for the number of people that were on site.

The pool was very clean and modern, although too small once again for the number of people on site. A party of 16 people, including children and adults were in front of us and basically took over the pool.

The general location is very good with the village being a short walk away. Tattershall Castle is well worth a visit for stunning views and historical value. Children and adults will enjoy.

The local church has a small cafe serving tea, coffee and home made cakes (which were lovely). Tattershall is not far from the East Coast (offering easy access to Skegness, Mablethorpe and Ingoldmells)- which are always a winner with children.

In conclusion we were disappointed and would not choose to return. It has the potential to be a lovely site in a good location but the facilities need to be expanded and signposting of and around the site need to be improved.

We have been to much better sites in Derbyshire and hope our future experiences are better than this.

Reviewer: Mumscamp 1 review from this member

Group: 3 mums aged 36-49, 5 children aged 6-8, 3 girls, 2 boys length of stay 7 nights

Accommodation: Tent with electric pitch on Quiet Field

The park is located in beautiful surroundings. All staff were helpful and courteous. Excellent entertainment team, namely Sarah, Danny and Jamin who made each activity safe, exciting and fun and our children thoroughly enjoyed their time spent with the team. Paul, Head Lifeguard was friendly, knowledgeable and informative regarding the activities on offer and carried out his job as lifeguard and leisure attendant very professionally. We had doubts before our visit due to negative reviews on Trip Advisor and Campsite UK, however, after a couple of telephone conversations with Terri, Manager, Guest Services our fears were soon allayed.

The attitude of the staff throughout the park was excellent despite having to carry out their tasks under difficult circumstances, namely insufficient numbers of staff, especially in the boathouse restaurant, not enough changing rooms in leisure complex and lack of water for showers, long queues for activities, swimming and food during peak periods, broken equipment for activities (water walkers and pedaloes). The staff also had a nasty job having to clean up after guests who after using the toilet/shower facilities left them in a disgusting state.

A majority of the problems faced by guests and staff were the result of overall facilities not being sufficient to meet the demand of such a large park. The marketing for the park is excellent and at times it fails to deliver as described. Staff commented that the guest numbers were considerably increased this year so maybe the park just isn’t ready for the volume?

Good bits: - helpful, courteous staff, beautiful surroundings, good variety of water activities on offer, jet skis, banana boat, do-nut rings etc, swimming pool, club house/restaurant, children's activities, Wi-Fi, small on site store, small children's playground, aeroplanes from RAF

Bad bits; showers and toilet blocks didn’t have buckets so tended to be muddy, not enough pot wash facilities (none on the Quite field) so people were washing up in the toilet block sinks. Showers kept losing power and often no water in changing rooms at swimming pool. Not enough changing rooms in swimming pool complex. Noisy jets ! Lengthy wait for meals

In summary, despite the bad bits we had a great week and are looking forward to returning again for the bank holiday weekend with a larger group of friends. Kids can’t wait!

First time to this campsite and not sure I would Come back. We paid extra for super pitches but was disappointed. The road in front of us was the new arrivals road and the road behind us was the main access road in and out of the site. It was like trying to sleep at the side of the m1. The kids had to cross this road to go to the play area but cars were racing up and down all the time even through to early hours in the morning.

Toilets were Ok but did Get mucky very quickly, clubhouse was good. I didn't use the swimming pool but it did look impressive.

Nice Chinese called millennium dragon in the village, think they also do take out.

Visited tattershall castle, lovely garden area to sit in and the views were fantastic. I bet though midweek and out of high season this is a lovely campsite. Definitely not worth paying for the superpitches due to the location of them and the size of them, we struggled for space.

This was our first trip away in the campervan so we wanted somewhere close by to try. I will start by saying that this isn't really my ideal place to come. I prefer smaller quieter sites. As such we chose to stay in the quiet area/overflow field. This field was nice and flat and had a combination of tourers with EHU and tents. It was quiet most of the time other than children playing and night time chatter.

The main area was very busy and looked cramped with lots of family groups and gatherings. At night it seemed to be very noisy with lots of noise from groups and the club nearby. We were also subjected to some cheek from some youths who we had told off for looking through the open windows of the toilets.

The facilities on our field were the portacabin type. They were OK when cleaned but soon got dirty and even flooded at one point. I didn't use the shower because of this.

The campsite itself was clean and attractive looking with wood cabins, lakes, ponds and wildlife. The watersports facilities looked to be good but as we didn't use them I can't really comment further. The pool was busy but clean and good fun for the children. The small shop was well stocked. We didn't use the club but it seemed OK if you like that sort of thing. There was a children's playground but it was dominated by the campers pitched right around it.

There is quite a bit of noise from jets flying over from the nearby RAF base but this didn't bother us. (we are used to it!)

If you like a busy site with entertainment and watersports and your children are old enough to go off with their friends, you might enjoy this site. I doubt if we would return though.

We stayed at Tattershall Lakes over a weekend in June. Booking over the Internet was easy and we received good confirmation by e-mail.

Arrival at the site was well sign posted and we were directed to the Touring Warden. We'd booked a standard pitch for the tent and I was quite surprised to be given a map with a highlighted area on it and told to pitch anywhere in that area. The area turned out to be right next to the clubhouse and the use of the word anywhere had led to some confusion over where to pitch the tent. We chose a suitable spot which I think was outside the standard pitch area but nobody asked us to move.

Friday night was OK and despite heavy rain the ground seemed to drain well. There was some noise from the clubhouse but it soon quietened down after 11pm

On Saturday an all female group of 10 arrived at a nearby pitch and setup their tents in a circle with their cars around them. Was quite surprised the campsite had allowed on a large same sex group. By mid-afternoon most of the group were drunk and wobbling around the clubhouse area shouting to each other. At 11pm Saturday night the clubhouse was still in full swing with Karaoke drifting across the campsite, by midnight the all female group were stood in the middle of the tent area cursing and arguing at the top of their voices. Despite camp security being called not much changed and the group even gathered wood and lit a fire in the middle of their tent circle. Further sanctions by security resulted in an attempt to evict the group (thank god common sense kicked in then as I don't think any of us wanted the drunken women driving through the camping area). In the end security dismantled their tents and made them sleep in the cars. So from 10pm until 2am myself, my wife and our two young daughters had to listen to four letter words, loud arguing and threats of physical violence.

Despite this disturbance we all enjoyed the campsite, long walks in the grounds, kite flying and visits to the clubhouse. We visited Tattershall Castle on the Sunday.

Toilet block was close by and was clean and tidy during our visit. Staff were friendly. The play ground was small and busy most of the weekend but the children enjoyed it.

The camp shop was open long hours and the prices were reasonable (equivalent to local shop prices) but the selection was a bit limited. A trip to a small supermarket in Tattershall stocked us up and we made use of the fish and chip shop there on Friday night.

We'd probably go back again but only if the standard pitch area was further away from the clubhouse, the constant traffic (both car and foot) and late night noise was just a little too much.

Three word summary – Active, lively, noisy

After reading the reviews that previous visitors had left we were really surprised by what we found.

BAD BITS:

1. When we arrived the reception staff were not interested or helpful she was chatting on the phone as well as trying to sort of explain to me where and what I needed to do.

2. There was noone there to direct us to a pitch you had to guess where your pitch was.

3. The food was awful and overpriced and unless you go on a weekend the Boathouse cafe isnt open as stated on the menu in a morning, so you cant get anything to eat till 6pm.

4. The woman who cleaned the toilets needs retraining as I went in after she so called cleaned them and they were still dirty.

Good Bits:

With having an 8 month old baby camping for the first time the Ducks were a constant source of entertainment which was funny to watch, The Entertainment team on the site were excellent very polite kind and funny our 8 month old really enjoyed it dancing away and loved the puppets Sratch and Lucy.

The Bar staff were also polite funny and entertaining and loved our son as hes always Happy and smiling the security guys were nice too.

There was some upset on Saturday night to which could have been avoided by not letting them in the first place what can I say young single girls and young single male students and alcohol don't really mix but both sets were evicted off the site after causing quite a lot of trouble but it wont stop us from going back.

The Spa was amazing as I booked myself in for a Lavashell massage the lady was amazing lovley and very good would highly recommend the treatments that are there she works on site Fri-Sun it is a little bit expensive but worth it.

The Jet Ski's were amazing to watch and looked fun might try it out the next time we go.

The weather was excellent. The shop on site is owned by a lovely couple who are helpful the prices are reasonable too and to say its only a tiny shop it stocks everything you could want.

They are constantly improving and maintaining the site there is a warden who's nice and helpful.

Good luck for the future and we will see you soon.

First impressions were excellent. Check in was quick and we were told to pitch anywhere we liked. And it literally was anywhere, there was no uniformity to the pitches, we were told to just leave 10' in between pitches. We arrived Fri morning and there was plenty of room but later in the day it began to fill up and it was clear people wernt adhering to the instructions.

The toilets were cleaned regularly but as soon as they had been they were dirty almost immediately, I shudder to think how people live like that at home !. Didn't use the showers but they looked OK.

The people working on the site are very friendly and work really hard to make it an enjoyable experience.

There was entertainment in the bar Fri & Sat nights and it was packed both nights, Sun night was comfortable as most people had left. £2. 95 for a pint of Smiths not cheap but what you'd expect for a place like this.

The swimming pool is excellent and its a nice touch to be able to use the sauna and steam room for free.

There's all sorts of water sports going on and a golf course too.

The small shop sold the basics you need.

They do food in the bar area but are a bit hit and miss with the times they are open. E. G. Two meals for £12 between 12 & 5. We went at 3. 30 and was told they were shut 3 till 5!

We went for breakfast on the Mon morning and again was told they werent open but as they had brought the chef in for cleaning he would cook for us.

The place is teeming with wildlife, with quite tame ducks that come into your awning and nick the dog biscuits.

We had a good time but Fri & Sat the place fills up with a lot of ignorant selfish people i. E. Noise at night and the condition of the toilets.

We would prob return but mid week, the cost £18 for Fri & Sat, £7 for Sun, we asked if we could stay till after tea on Mon and they only charged £4 ! good value

Have stayed here in past but first visit since taken over. Generally improved with great new swimming pool. Seem decent bunch on the entertainment team.

Was a bargain £10 a night last minute booking, only downside was chaotic pitch arrangements with no marked out pitches everything was parked in all directions and could certainly echo previous comments. Really should make effort to mark out. Was a busy weekend and mens toilets varied in condition at times of day. Did see cleaner twice but as on all sites the clientèle can soon spoil things. Ladies were not very well kept was informed. Would use again but probably use better pitches as better defined.

We stumbled upon this campsite on your web page. What a gem! I find it hard to believe the showers were dirty as a previous review indicated as it appears we visited at about the same time, we went for 2 nights midweek and enjoyed it so much we stayed an we extra night. The place is so friendly with large roomy pitches, good electric hook ups, no tripping out as we have encountered on some sites. Brilliant value for money, happy hour each night we were there, drinks £1. 50 each 6pm=9pm each night in the club house. The prices in the shop were fair, on par with any corner shop. Loads to do and see in the area, will certainly be back.
