The location is great for Charmouth Beach (10-15 minutes walk away) which is great for fossil hunting. Also within easy reach of Lyme Regis and the Southwest coast path.
The site itself seems well maintained - quite hilly but the pitches are reasonably flat. Not sure whether we just got unlucky, but the ground was very stony, and after several bent pegs we ended up buying a few hard ground pegs from the shop.
The facilities (showers, toilets, washing up areas etc. ) were all OK. The shop OK- a reasonable range although it was difficult to buy things to cook for a complete evening meal. There is a small supermarket in the village though.
Didn't make much use of the clubhouse or swimming pool this time, but the kids (8 and 10) spent lots of time in the playground, which has a good range of equipment.

We classed Newlands as a nearly site.
The Loos were Nearly nice.
The Club was Nearly big enough.
The pitches were nearly the right size.
The Beach was Nearly an easy walk away.
The Staff were Nearly good.
For example, the toilet block was a good size and we never had a problem with hot water. But the condensation in there was dreadful there was not a dry surface to be found which isn’t helpful when trying to sort yourself out after the shower. Also some of the doors had such a big gap in them with the door shut, that you were waiting for eyes to appear at the door.
The drainage in the showers could have been better too. The showers shared a drain, often showers do, but they tend to have a gully not just have the dirty water from the person next door washing over your feet.
The Club was good and had reasonable bar prices, but it is too small if the site is full, we ended up in the corner of the conservatory bit and couldn't see the entertainment that was happening.
We were on one of the higher tiers and although that gave us a great view over the village the pitches were not quite big enough, they were wide enough but not deep enough. There was a very small unit pitched next to us and if it wasn’t I doubt I would have been able to get my car out as there was not enough room to drive past the back of the units.
The Beach is Brilliant, lots of facilities and an easy place to spend the day. There are a couple of car parks, a café, a fossil shop, a beach type shop and a little trinket shop. But if you want to take stuff to the beach you will need to drive there as it is a bit too far to walk carrying much.
The Staff were nearly good, as in some were great others seemed a bit miserable.
So, would we go back…. Not sure, If they could sort out some of these little points I would, but without it I feel it is a bit expensive. But so close. Nearly Newlands.

Disapointed
If you arrive after the ones on the outside of your row have you will struggle to get your van in to position. All pitches are set into the hillside and you have to drive along the pitch row to get to your pitch which if the others are in is tricky as your car is pointing downhill when you unhitch. Our van at the rear was almost resting on the grass before we even put our cornersteadies down.
Toilets were clean but showers always seemed to lack hot water.
The play area was on the other side of the site but it was spacious and kids enjoyed it.
The view from our pitch was lovely and the road noise was not a huge issue.

Our first visit to this site. We stayed three nights. Easy access off the A35. Warm welcome and shown to our pitch. The pitch was almost flat and spacious. We were sited very close to the road, which didn't disturb us during the night but we did find it noisy when sitting outside our motorhome.
The views from our pitch were fabulous across the Dorset countryside. The facilities were beautiful and plentiful. The whole site was immaculate. There is a convenience shop on site, we didn't use it, a cafe and indoor swimming pool.
We didn't use either of these, but other visitors told us how much they had enjoyed them. There are also fishing lakes at the bottom of the site. The site is close to Charmouth, walkable, and Lyme Regis. Plenty to do and see in Lyme Regis.
Would certainly visit again, but ask for a pitch away from the road! WiFi charges were very high!

Just had 9 nights at newlands. 1st impressions are that it looks claustrophobic with everyone on top of each other but the pitches are quite big with plenty of room for the van awning and car. Although on a hill the pitches are terraced and are fairly level. Its a bit odd in that when pitching, the van has to go the wrong way round i. E. The tow bar end is at the end of the pitch that drops down to the next level.
The toilets and showers were very clean all the time and although at times the site was quite full we never saw anyone waiting for either.
There is a well stocked mini supermarket that wasn't too expensive, they will even bake French sticks and croissants for you on a morning.
The bar is fine and was actually cheaper than the local in the village which is a first. They also do food but didn't indulge so cant comment
There is a indoor pool(charge) and a outdoor one (Free) but disappointingly, even though the weather was boiling, the outdoor was closed, 'because it shuts in September'!
There is a good sized dog walk which is totally fenced so your dog can be off the lead. There also magnificent views from the top of the dog walk.
Charmouth has a couple of pubs, we only used the George but it was friendly and welcoming and the food looked good, a post office, butchers bread shop etc.
Just one thing to warn about. There is constant noise from the road (A35), I wouldn't say it keeps you awake but its the first thing you hear when you wake up and its relentless all day.

It is difficult to write a review without repeating past comments, but here goes.
Location is good, just off the A35 in Charmouth and well signed. The site is set on a hillside, as is a lot of West Dorset, so bear that in mind. Having said that the site roads are well maintained and the grass areas neatly mown.
The Toilet/shower block we used in Black field was clean, had showers that were hot and good pressure. The crockery washing sinks were in front of this block and also good.
Other site facilities included a reasonably well stocked shop, a reception with lots of info and a cash machine (small charge for withdrawals), a bar/club with evening entertainment and a small kids arcade area just off this. There is a Takeaway for food which we tried and liked, as well as the main menu in the Bar area which we also tried once.
An indoor pool is available at an extra charge, ok for kids but don't expect to do lengths in it. We didn't try the outdoor pool.
Perhaps the one thing I noticed is how friendly, helpful and welcoming all of the Staff are. I will definitely return if the chance arises.

We returned today from a 4 night stay at newlands park. We really enjoyed our stay would like to say how lovely the lady was who worked and lived on site. Very chatty and friendly and I just loved her little pig tails
the only negative I would say is the dog walking spot it's was very small and lots of poops !
We made a quick exit and didn't return ! The kids liked the pool. I enjoyed the open air market and the beach was beautiful. Will defo return in the future. happy camping

I've just returned from a lovely week at Newlands with my 11 year old son and our 2 dogs. The site was spotlessly clean, the grass very well kept and all the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We didn't visit the bar/clubhouse but it seemed very popular. As the weather was so nice we used the outdoor pool most days and my son had great fun on the water slide. It's only a 10 minute walk into Charmouth village and the beach. Dogs are not allowed on West beach during the summer months and are only allowed on East beach after 6pm so that was a bit disappointing. However we caught the bus from right outside the campsite into Lyme Regis and there is a large beach to the right of The Cobb which is dog friendly all year round. Lyme is a beautiful place with loads of unique shops. We also caught the bus to Bridport which is a very pretty, bustling town. We would definitely visit this site again.

We had a great week on this site. Most of the pitches are set on terraces giving an excellent view of the Dorset countryside on every plot. Everything was clean and well maintained. Both the indoor and the outdoor swimming pools were excellent. There is a bus every half hour right outside the gate, so we were able to ride along the coast and walk back along the coast path. Hilly but breathtaking. The views from the top of Golden Cap were amazing. Taking the bus into nearby Lyme Regis also saved the problem of finding somewhere to park. We chose this site because we could pay by Camping Cheques which we bought before we went. This gave us a fantastic saving and is the reason we give 10 out of 10 for value for money.

To Find Site:- From the Bridport direction on A35 take slip road to Charmouth. Newlands is a few hundred yards on the left and is clearly signed. From the Axminster direction use this same approach via the bypass as towing or driving a large motorhome through Charmouth is best avoided.
Newlands is a bit more than just a campsite with a variety of accommodation in addition to about 200 touring pitches. Camping Pods were being delivered during our stay. The topography of the site is also difficult as it’s on the side of a hill and all the pitches are on terraces and site access roads are quite steep in places. The site is divided into several sections, the main one being to the left of the reception building. There are seasonal pitches situated around the perimeter of the lower site from the entrance and up the hill with statics forming the upper section of the site. Touring pitches are between the two. This section has mainly grass pitches but there are some premium pitches which have a section of hard standing with fresh water and drainage. It is a requirement of the site that units are placed nose first onto pitches which is somewhat unusual, although it does afford very nice views over the surrounding countryside. The exceptions are units with their door on the Continental side which have to pitch rear in, no doubt to provide more privacy. There are two further touring areas. One immediately behind reception and a large camping field beyond that. Touring pitch size is not particularly generous. Our 7. 5 mts motorhome with bikes on the back just about fitted onto the pitch without encroaching on the roadway. Electric points, rated at 16amps, are conveniently situated and use standard CEE17 blue connectors. Water points are dotted around the site. It is a little unclear where grey water can be disposed of although the water points do have quite large drains at their base. Alternatively there are three chemical disposal points, one in the middle of the main touring area and the other two at the toilet blocks. There is no dedicated motorhome service point but on request a member of staff will open a convenient drain cover to allow the emptying of grey water.
There are two toilet blocks but during our stay only one was open. They are of a reasonable quality with quite large shower cubicles but no privacy cubicles. However they seem quite gloomy during the day due to insufficient lighting. One central block houses the reception which also has local tourist information. Part of the building is taken up by a large bar/restaurant with a lovely indoor swimming pool leading off from this. There is also an outdoor pool which seems only to be used in the hotter months of the years. Next to reception is a well-stocked shop and behind this a take-away meal service.
Children are very well catered for with a large adventure style playground and an indoor softball area. There is site wide WiFi but the pricing is expensive. There is some road noise, especially on the lower pitches but we did not find it particularly intrusive. During the low season the site accepts Camping Cheques and will allow a pitch upgrade for the difference in price between standard and premium.
From the site the beach at Charmouth is about a fifteen minute walk as is the town. There are several carparks near to the beach but other than a café and a couple of shops not much else. In the town there are several shops including small NISA supermarket although for more comprehensive shops Bridport has both a Waitrose and Morrisons. For those not wanting to use their own transport there are two bus services available from outside the campsite entrance running in both directions along the coast. West Bay near Bridport (where Broadchurch was filmed) is well worth a visit. As is Lyme Regis in the other direction. Not far from the site towards Charmouth is a caravan dealer who has a very comprehensive accessory shop
