August 2004 The Newlands is a great little family site and has adequate facilities. Although, the hillside location is not for those who are afraid of an uphill walk!
There is a well-stocked shop, modern shower and toilet blocks, 2 swimming pools, clubhouse, restaurant, takeaway and plenty more besides.
We stayed in the Blue Field, which was very slopey and almost impossible to find a level pitch on, but that was only a minor complaint.
We didn't try the takeaway/chip shop, but the restaurant was ok. The only gripe was the chips. I ordered a steak and the chips that accompanied it were from the chipshop next door. Call me fussy, but steak and chipshop chips wasn't a very nice combination and did spoil the enjoyment somewhat.
The clubhouse entertainment was great and the atmosphere was a friendly and relaxed one.
All in all, a great site and we will definitely return.

August 2004 We have just come back from a wonderful camping holiday at Newlands. We were camped up in the blue field and apart from having to hold the tent up on tuesday night we had a great week. Toilet facilities are good, shop is well stocked, laundrette very expensive and not great and soft drinks, hot drinks in bar expensive. Lots to do for kids and good entertainment in the bar at night. This was our second visit to Newlands and we will go again!!!!

july 2004 Lovely site. We came here last minute after leaving a bad site due to being disappointed with it.
We turned up not sure what to expect and we were helped onto our pitch which was in the red field. Lovely views, lovely play area for the kids, everything clean and tidy.
Only down sides were the noise from the main road at night, and the cost for the pool. At £1.50 per person, (and there are 5 of us) £7.50 for 1 hour seemed a little expensive but it was worth it once in there as it was lovely as was the jacuzzi. The bowling is good fun too.
They could do with more washing machines, and hotter tumble driers, (70p per go but you need at least 4 goes to even get close to dry!!).
The toilets and showers were clean although the old ones at the bottom would benefit with modernising and warm water!!!

Summer 2003 Lovely site handy for Charmouth and Lyme Regis. Good walking right from the site, plenty for the children to do and quite safe. Plenty of good pubs etc., in walking distance as well as 2 fish and chip shops. Recommend the local cider as well, sold in the shop. Toilets etc., clean tidy often wet floors though, washing up facilities primitive for the type of site. Two big complaints it can be noisy at night with traffic from the main road and the biggest gripe the cost of using the indoor pool even for young children, and you have to pay £1.50 each per visit, not per day this often stops me from returning as often as I would, it is not a cheap site this facility should be included in the site fee.

June 2004 Nice site, not for those who struggle walking up hills. We stayed in Black field, straight up past the chippy. A Volvo was parked outside when I arrived so a bit awkward to get the van up the about 12% slope, why is it always a Volvo? Anyway we got a pitch at the top of the hill. The pitches are set in to the hillside like small paddy fields. Great views from here, was not under trees. We saw two loo blocks on site, top and bottom of hill, in very good order. These are cleaned and checked on a regular basis. Ours always had hot water when I used them. Shower cubicles clean and large. A word of warning, do not leave anything on the shelf, it will get wet. The loo blocks did accommodate wheelchair users, ramp in and had a shower and loo cubicle. The bins seemed to be emptied on a daily basis so no rubbish left hanging around. Did not use the bar but looked okay. The amusement area looked to have seen better days; apart from the fruit machines everything else seemed out of order. Good kiddies play area, not sure about the spinning disk though. Shop with a bit of everything in it, not the cheapest but not a rip off. We would go back again.

Fri April 30th for 2 nights Very friendly and clean site. Helped us erect our large tent when asked, very much appreciated too!! Facilities very clean. Pitches behind us were a bit loud as another next to us commented on Saturday night! Entertainment very good.
Only hiccup for us that the tree overhanging our pitch was in sap! Tree sap over tent! So make sure you are not under a tree!
Will go back just got to make mind up as to when!!

7th-9th August 03 Nice friendly staff, great shop on site. we stayed in the blue field, which is on a reasonably steep hill, which was not ideal and very uncomfortable at night. The showers and loos are very clean and there are plenty of them although the floor gets very, very slippery when its wet (which is most of the time!) The washing up facilities are not great, but they do!! It is ideally situated for days on the beach at Charmouth and Lyme Regis and also drives in the beautiful countryside and quaint little villages.
Would go back to Newlands, but would not stay in the blue field on a slope again!!

May 2003 Had a brilliant weekend with friends. Also stayed in the non-electric top field where you can pitch where you like. The staff/owners were very friendly and helpful wherever you went.
Lovely indoor pool, it was too cold to sample the outdoor one. It was great for us women & kids to swim in the indoor pool while the men sat in the club watching us and having a pint!!
The clubhouse is lovely having been recently refurbished and there is a great adventure playground for the kids.
Will return again many times.

20 yrs! latest visit May 2003 Actually it's been 23 years as first visit was 1980.Great place then for the whole family, the kids loved it. Now we bring the Grandchildren, and they think it's brilliant.
Agree with everything the previous people have said plus great evenings in the club house. Usually have very good entertainers on, in all the visits there has only been one act that I thought was not right for a family site. I did make my feelings known to the owners and was pleased to note that the next time this particular act was on the owners were there to see for themselves. You can't ask for more. (act was toned down somewhat) Takeaway we have found to be excellent, have yet to try the restuarant. (Note to hubby!) Good well stocked shop. Toilets/showers very clean, and plenty of them. Staff helpful and friendly.Grandchildren adore Natalie. Kids club is a great idea.
A top site that we will return to again and again. Great value for money.

Easter 2003 We love camping and try and go regularly, with our group of friends and kids. We visited Newlands twice last summer and again this easter. Compared to many other campsites we keep going back for more. The tent field is large and informal. You can pitch where you like, there are lovely views of the surrounding countryside. The childrens play area is situated just below the tent field. It is a childs dream, more like an adventure playground and the kids are nearby. The swimming pools are clean, we especially like the outdoor pool when the sun is shining, a real suntrap. Also kids club in the morning 10-12, pm what a bonus. Thankyou Newlands for some brillint weekends.
