The site was clean and set on a hill with terraced pitches. Although far from full, we were directed to pitch facing a load of static caravans which took a lot of the 'campsite feel' away for us. A friendly warden helped us pitch.
We felt very cramped! Goodness knows just how much they must shoehorn you in during peak times! The outdoor pool was not yet open and so we used the indoor one. Very clean but small and the changing area was not very user friendly. We don't really 'do' clubhouse entertainment, so cannot comment on the quality of it - the clubhouse looked nice enough though.
The play area was fantastic, but a long way from our pitch and meant traversing the car park and entrance, so we always had to accompany our 7 & 10 year olds.
We visited Charmouth beach (5 mins away) to go fossil hunting and Lyme Regis (15 mins away) which was very nice, but felt that there was not as much to do (for us at least) in this part of Dorset as further West.
All in all, a nice and clean site with nice loos and shower blocks and good facilities. But for some reason this site just didn't appeal to us - it seemed to lack in atmosphere. The constant road noise (from 6am to 2am!) and our neighbours car door being 10' from our camper (which they slammed at least several times an hour until 11pm) probably had something to do with our opinion though!

Visited this campsite on Whitsun Bank Holiday Weekend. This was a last minute weekend away because of the glorious weather and they managed to fit us in to their very large tent area.
The facilities were first-rate with underfloor heating in the toilet / shower block and good shops / take away / club areas.
The children's playground was very well equipped and very popular - although we pitched in the wrong spot as we were on the route that the kids took to get to the park.
I would definitely go to this site again and perhaps use the electric hookup area as it was a bit flatter.

This is a nice site on the jurassic coast. Easy walking distance for Charmouth, 5 min walk to beach.
Level hardstanding pitches, tiered site but level tiers.
Good tidy clean shower blocks. Club and indoor pool was clean and tidy, Pool is chargable. Nine pin bowling is also chargable, but great fun.
Shop was not open in Feb also take away, restaurant was also closed, but the staff on the site were gearing the site up for the forth coming season. Close to the main A road, but did not take much notice of noise. The tarrif was cheap for the time of the year.
Only hardstanding part of the site open. A lot of work has been going on during the winter and the site looks good, having stayed here a number of times in our trailer tent,(but not in Feb). Camping shop about a few hundred yards away for spares if needed.
Would recommend this site, even in Feb!

Went for a weekend with ukcampsite
Great campsite with indoor and outdoor heated pools. Clean toilet block.
Pitches are on terraces so it might be a little awkward for those less mobile.
In a beautfiful area close to beaches and plenty of amenities.
Nice play area for the children.
Also has a bar :)
I think the area can get extremely busy during school summer hols.
We would return again.

We visited this site after a spell of wet weather. The pitch we were allocated looked Ok, it did have a worn muddy area but we didn't consider this to be a problem. We were very wrong. On the first night we had steady but not heavy rain, but this was enough to turn our pitch into a mud bath. As the week progressed things got worse. The site staff were unable to offer a solution other than to place thin boards over the mud and under our ground sheets. The staff suggested that we rolled back our groundsheet's to air the pitch to help dry the ground out. We tried this but the mud was a good 4-5 inches deep and would take weeks to dry.
Many pitches were suffering the same fate. It seems that the terraced pitches were not good at draining.
The site itself was clean, the pools adequate and the club house surprisingly spacious. However if you have a dog you may find the site dog walking area far too small and there is no access to the outside bar area for campers to enjoy the facilities with their dogs.
The surrounding area is great when the sun is shining but the local amenities a little too quiet to entertain the kids in the rain.
Overall, if the sun is out and you pick a pitch without any signs of mud you'll be fine and have a great time.

We stayed here for 3 nights the week before the bank holiday in August. All in all we were very impressed with this campsite. The staff were friendly and helpful when we arrived directing us to the blue field (unserviced, for tents only). We were lucky to be able to pitch our tent at the bottom of the field on the level. Some campers weren't so lucky as the field was mainly sloping. The first 2 nights were very windy and wet, so quite noisy due to the trees surrounding the site (out of the sites control) and we did find that the area under the groundsheet became quite squelchy and muddy. This wasn't a problem as we had no leakage.
We ate in the restaurant one night which was OK, but nothing spectacular.
The showers were fantastic, very powerful for a campsite, clean and free (and considering the site was virtually full, no queues!). I can understand how other campers have said that their clothes etc got wet as there is insufficient a divide between the wet and dry areas of the cubicles, however we were prepared for that and took a bag to hang stuff out of the way.
The clubhouse was very busy and drink prices not too bad. We tended to find a corner and play cards or games (selection held behind the bar - jenga, dominoes, cards etc) rather than watch the entertainment. However most people looked to be having a good time.
Charmouth is lovely, we went fossil-hunting and found plenty of ammonites. Delish ice cream.
We would visit again!

We have just returned from our break in Dorset, where we stayed at Newlands on our arrival we found every-one to be friendly and helpful. We had booked a millennium hard standing pitch, we must of known the weather for August was to be the worst on record. Reception was quick and efficient in booking us in,the helpful wardens help us to our pitch, which is rare these days.We found the pitch was a good size with plenty of room for both the awning and to park our car.
The toilet block was always clean, and well maintained. The club house was very clean, with cheerful staff always willing to help. The indoor swimming pool was of a high standard, although some times very busy due to the weather.
The shop was well stocked, the prices fairly good for a camp site. The take away and restaurant was good and busy.
We enjoyed ourselves so much that we have enquired about seasonal pitches.
Charmouth beach is a lovely area, with fantastic views. There are many great walks, and attractions within easy reach.

We have looked at lots of parks since first visiting Newlands in 2002 but we have found this one by far the best and we now have a seasonal pitch from March to November. The place is cheerful, clean, tidy and efficient. Toilets and showers are excellent. We have made some good friends here. The staff at Newlands are outstanding. Sue and Natalie are among those who have been especially welcoming and helpful.
The facilities are everything that we could want. We use the indoor and outdoor swimming pools, (mostly the indoors so far this year!), the very nice lounge and bar area, the entertainment, the shop and the restaurant. The children's playground is exceptional! It does NOT have to be accessed via the main entrance and car park. There are special activities for children, a children's club, fossil hunting and even insect and wildlife hunting. There are computer and wi fi facilities and they are free!
Dorset is a great county to explore and Charmouth and Lyme Regis are special - though there are plenty of other interesting places, some of which we still have to visit.

As we love the Charmouth area we wanted a site that we could go to and from without the hassle of booking, so we thought we would take the plunge and go for a seasonal pitch on Newlands.
The site is situated just off the main A35 so if you staying in the red field you do hear alot of traffic noise all day & night.
The site is sloping but most pitches are flat.
Unfortunately pitches are very small, once an awning is up there is very limited space for any chair/table. Hence why I feel bbqs should'nt be allowed. Not only is it a serious fire risk but we had our caravan full of smoke and had to close all windows/vents.
The toilet/shower block is kept very clean.
Kids love the paypark only gripe there is that the kids do have to cross the enterance/carpark (which can get very busy)to get to it.
2 Swimming pools, one indoor (handy in bad weather) which you have to pay for and the outdoor with slide which is free.
Bowling (fee) indoor pool tables (fee) Computer facility.
Dog walk located at the top of the site.
Bus stop right outside main entrance.
FishnChip takeaway/Resturant.
We love the freedom of being able to use our caravan without the hassle of booking and towing but feel for what we pay for the seasonal pitch the traffic noise and very small pitches does let this otherwise great site down.

Spent a long bank holiday weekend here in our Motorhome. First impressions - I thought it looked the main building looked dark and uninviting but reception staff friendly and informative. Shown to pitch -mostly level but quite small with awning up no room for table outside! Weather was good so no flooding or mud issues but there would have been as whole site on side of hill. Dog walking area at the top and so plenty of walking! Childrens play area excellent - kept my 6 year amused, also Cosmo the magician was great for the kids - my daughter is still talking about it 6 days on! Indoor pool only open - has to be accessed through the club/bar area (wierd?!) which means wet kids trapsing through. Not sure why they arranged it like that? Water warm but pool small. Outdoor pool didnt look that much bigger! Overall, reasonable cost - had takeaway fish & chips, sausage and scampi and chips £14, didnt try the restaurant but the food looked good. Toilet/showering facilities absolutely excellent - up to Caravan Club standards! Bus stop right outside arrived dead on time and took us to Lyme regis for the Day and no problems with times for return journey. Overall yes nice, but no good if you are not mobile.
