 We had a nice stay at Newlands, these are our comments;

1.Toilet block was clean, with plenty of showers, they were very spacious, but created small puddles every where as you had to share 1 drain between two, but they were very nice and modern. The showers were always hot.(we used the block nearest to the reception)

2.The pitch size was quite small and on top of each other but they were well maintained.

3.The pools were very nice and clean, but you had to pay £1.50 a person for the indoor pool; and children 15 and under had to be supervised by an adult at all times. They had no life gaurd.

4.The entertainment was OK, and the bar area was nice.

5.The on site shop was very well stocked with everything you needed.

6 The walk into Charmouth was about 10 minutes, where they had a few shops and eating places. The George pub which was very child and dog friendly with a play park and goats you could feed, and a very good choice of food including a sunday carvery. There is a village shop which stocked everything you needed.

7.The beach was pebbles and sand. Dogs were aloud on part of it before 10am and after 6pm.So we had some lovely evenings with the dog on the beach.

8.Wardens were friendly and helpful.

9.There is a very large market near the campsite every monday. There is also a caravan sales and acessary shop no more than two minutes walk away from the campsite.

10. There is a large children's play park on site.

11.There was a bit of road noise from the nearby dual carriage way

We visited this site in August (2 adults and 4 children) and was very impressed with it. We found all the staff to be very helpful. We were shown to our pitch on arrival and given a guide to the campsite. We had just enough room for our large tunnel tent and was satisfied with our pitch, although we did find the ground a little dry and stony, which didn't help putting in the tent pegs.

The toilets and showers were regularly kept clean. However it was like trying to beat the germans again, as to who got the hot water in the mens showers first in the morning. After 9am and your stuffed so get up early.

The kids loved the free outdoor pool, and we were lucky not to have the weather to have pay for them to use the smaller indoor pool. Nightime entertainment was great for everyone. Plenty of info on stuff to do in the main reception area. Staff always happy to give advice.

Beach in walking distance and there is a good uphill walk if you turn left out of site and first left on a coastal road path to a nice viewpoint on top of hill where you can see the golden cap cliff and portland bill lighthouse in the distance.

Found site reasonably priced and would definitely revisit in the future. Well done Newlands for making a family of 6 have a great holiday.

A really nice camp site (cannot comment on the touring pitches as I didn't use them), really good value for money. Staff very friendly and helpful. Free pool and soft play was great for the kids. The shower block was always clean and wow those showers are powerful! Nice quiet evenings.

There's a really nice family atmosphere at this site and we will definitely by visiting again soon. Added bonus of only being 15 mins walk from Charmouth beach!

Just stayed on this campsite for a week and do not usually review but was so impressed. The staff on arrival were all helpful and we were quickly taken to our pitch and offered help to place the caravan. We chose a premium pitch so had water and waste near by. The pitch was a good size we could maybe have done with a little more room. But it was ok. The toilet block was spotless all day and had ample showers and toilets to meet demand even at peak times. We did not eat in the bar but the food looked good and although we do not usually make use of the entertainment offered in the evenings there was lots of room to sit and enjoy a drink. The lovely Charmouth beach was 10 mins walk away and the village had a small supermarket, with a small shop also on site. I was particularly impressed to see people working on the site all day tidying up etc. We will certainly be returning to this site

Booked with site direct for family with 2 children age 10 and 12. Booking process very efficient. First time in a static and on a site with club house. Normally avoid these sites but had read good reviews.
Static excellent, very clean and sited on terraces with lots of trees and shrubbery and had good open views. Only looked in on entertainment and seemed low key mainly for the kids but very popular.
The Kids enjoyed the outdoor pool with slide, although a bit cold for most adults, the indoor pool did get crowded on a couple of occasions.
The site itself is very well maintained but I would suggest not a great site if you have a tourer / tent and want a decent size pitch. It was very busy and both tents and caravans looked a bit crammed in. Lyme Regis is a few miles away and a lovely place to visit. If returning to this area would not hesitate to rebook this site.

My mum had a bad accident two days into our holiday, I spent the first week at Dorchester hospital, and the second week nursing in the caravan. The staff were fantastic during this time. They changed bed linen free of charge (due to blood on sheets where mum had open cuts on her face and hands) and when my family came to make sure she was ok, they gave us extra plates, knives and forks for them.

The reception staff always had a smile and asked how mum was every time we went into reception.

I couldn't have wished for a better Park to visit. Just a shame we were caught in the tail end of two hurricanes. Miserable weather.

This was a lovely park - we were pitched on the very top terrace right on the corner so unfortunately we got the lions share of the bad windy weather, if you get a choice, ask for the lower pitches heading down the hill towards the main block, the tents there didn't seem to even flap while our tent was battered.

The shower block was adequate but the showers were amazing, they were really hot and powerful and you could easily forget the lovely English weather killing your holiday while you were in there. Loads and loads of toilets and kept quite clean. The washing up area was basic just big porcelain sinks outside the shower block but the water was hot - be warned the cold taps were very powerful and drowned your hot water with one press.

The club house was what you would expect, very basic mediocre entertainment, bar prices same as pubs - never ate in there so couldn't comment. The outside pool was a hit with the kids and they loved the indoor pool too at £1.50 per swim and if you don't want to go in with the kids you can supervise from the bar area - perfect for us!

The reception staff were very helpful as we had forgotten our plates and knives and forks etc and for a small fee of £5.00 and a deposit of £35 they let us have 6 plates 6 knives and forks a teaspoon, 4 mugs and a vegetable knife, the next day there was an open air market where I could have bought the same for less than a fiver, but they helped us out and we shouldn't expect something for nothing.

Surrounding area very pretty, Charmouth beach a small walk away and Lyme Regis a 6 mile hike or a 10 minute car trip - very pretty towns. Loved the pub at Lyme Regis called The Cobb Arms - food here was brilliant.

Seems to be a bit of bad build up of traffic along the main strip towards Bridport each time we ventured that way - but Morrisons there so had to go.

We would come again to Newlands - but as with all places, if you aint got the weather your holiday is marred.

Went to this site for the last week of summer holidays, so expected it to be busy, but wasn't that bad. Although would be very busy if it was full and would be quite cramped in.

Got there and warden takes you to the pitch and then helps pull van into place, with jockey wheel on pitch number. This causes a bit of a problem as all the awnings are put up over the same bit of grass or mud, all the time, so this bit of the pitch is just a mud bath really. So I would advise you take a groundsheet with you!

Unfortunately the site is very close to a busy road, so road noise can be heard.

Toilet blocks are nice and new and very well looked after. But with only 6 showers in each toilet (mens/ladies) for 105 pitches. It's not enough and had to wait every morning to get in one. Then they run hot and cold which isn't good enough when your paying £30 a night.

Kids indoor and outdoor play areas where 1st class and a great addition to the site.

The indoor swimming pool is very small for size of site, didn't use the outdoor one. (British weather!)

Could be a 1st class site if they just took time to put the finishing touches to it.

Even though we wouldn't go back to stay at this site. We would pop round the on site fish & chip shop if we were near as they were great.

Spent a soggy week here but enjoyed it. Site is terraced and drainage is not good, 3 inches of water in our awning! Also on very steep hill, I found it difficult to walk up, so not for the unfit or less mobile camper.

On the plus side it is in wonderful location, 10 min walk to local village, great pub called The George which is dog and child friendly (a rarity,I think most pubs don't want any business sometimes!) serving good, if slightly expensive food, has play area and 2goats. The food on site (restaurant and take away) is dear £4.50 for children's meal, works out a lot with 4 children.

Play area and indoor ball pit both excellent ,my children loved it. Both swimming pools bit cold and £1.50 each to use indoor one,but I think it's because it is very small and would prob be packed if it was free. 1 shower per sex in changing rooms.

Actual shower blocks very good, large with seat area to dry off and lots of them, very hot too. Cleaned twice a day and were always clean when I was there. All in all good family site, I would re-visit.

We booked up in advance and gave the trailer tent size (6m x 9m), turned up and were shown to a pitch that could hardly fit a 4 man tent. After waiting and making a fuss, we were then shown to their last remaining 'large' pitch high up on the terraces. We could not fit the car next to the tent. The pitch was badly out of level, there was a six inch drop on a 2 foot level. The rain didn't help, but we felt very unsafe as our trailer was only a few feet from the edge of the grass terrace.

Good points: -

The showers are in good condition, free and not too bad as long as they are quiet, as the water pressure and temperature changes dramatically.

Bad points (for us): -

Pitch was badly out of level and too small.

Ground has 3 inches of soil and then soild rock, make sure you take rock pegs!

We could not take the dog and have a drink outside, as the access to the outside seating is through the club. If you have a dog, don't expect to have much access around the facility.

I cannot comment on the surrounding area of Charmouth which is a shame, as it was raining and we only stayed for 2 days out of the 7.
