A spacious family friendly site with lots of space for the kids to play. Nearby you can walk into Rosliston where there is a local pub, fish & chips, Co-op with the Rosliston Forestry Centre on your door step which is a great location for kids. Plus the National Arboretum in Alrewas is not far to visit. The toilets can be a long walk depending on where your pitch is. Apart from that - a good site!

My wife and I stayed at Beehive for a long weekend, 3 nights. We found the site to be very friendly and the staff were very helpful. We stayed in The Paddocks, the adult only section. This was lovely and quiet, although don't be mislead, as children do access this area if only to take advantage of the lovely woodland walks around the site. The facilities were clean and well maintained and we never had a problems using toilets or showers, the showers are charged at 50p which we felt was rather steep and the could be reduced, along with the running time of the shower, as I manged to shower, brush my teeth, dry myself and there was still plenty of hot water.
The site is located in a lovely little village and there are buses running into Burton and Swadlincote, so no need to drive. The village has a couple of pubs and a general store (Coop). Do be aware the buses are not very frequent and do not run very late.
The site is surrounded by several fishing lakes and there are numerous woodland walks where the children can play and those of us who are slightly old can enjoy the huge variety of trees and plants.
The site has all the usual facilities fresh water, showers, toilets, potwash, some recycling, chemical toilet disposal and grey waste disposal, unfortunately the grey waste is not suitable for motorhomes as it is 2 to 3 meters from the driveway and raised, so you cannot drain an on board water tank, this is something I would like to see improved on many sites.
Overall we found this was a lovely site and even though it is bigger than we usually stay on it did not feel it. The prices are at the upper end of good value, as you have to add on the cost of a shower every day (or 2 if you're a couple) and we probably would not stay over a bank holiday weekend.
All in all this was a lovely site and we will be back.

Just returned from a stay at Beehive. There are positives and negatives:
Positives:
It's a lovely quiet secluded site in the National Forest, good walks, well situated, nicely laid out, lots of space, flat, wildlife, friendly and knowledgeable staff. They are obviously keen to encourage an interest in wildlife, especially for children. The site is unlit, so it's great for star gazing. There is a barber next door, and a tearoom, and it's a short safe walk into the village where there is a co-op which would deal with all food needs. Also a fish and chip shop with 5 stars. 2 pubs within 5 minutes walk.
There is a small petting zoo.
There are family shower rooms, and although these are in rather ramshackle buildings, they are perfectly nice inside, and very clean.
Negatives:
1. Unheated facilities- You have to pay 50p for a shower, and I don't have a problem with that necessarily, but none of the toilets and showers were heated. The weather was cold for October, so we ended up showering in our van. We paid (£17) off season- equivalent to the Club sites- and I think it's reasonable to expect heated facilities for this price. This would probably put me off coming again, especially in the off season, which is a real shame.
2. Hard standings - these are very narrow and only fit a motorhome or van. You have to park your car on the grass, or have your awning/sitting out area on the grass too. This isn't necessarily a problem, so long as you know to bring a groundsheet etc.

Friendly welcome from the staff on arrival and they continued to make us feel welcome throughout the duration of our stay. We had to camp amongst the caravans as the site was hosting an event on the campsite while we were there, but having had a good look around the camping field looks great with lots of space for the kids to play, although no play area as such, but lots of wooded areas for the kids to explore.
There are 3 lovely fishing lakes within walking distance, with a few pitches almost overlooking one lake. The lakes make for a great evening walk as the sun goes down and me and my son even bagged a few nice fish.
Toilets and showers were clean and well stocked with family rooms available. These however are a bit of a walk from some of the pitches.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will certainly be back.

Just returned from a few days here including 8 adults and 5 kids with 2 tents, 1 x caravan and 1 x mobile home. Allowed us to all to be sited together( without hook ups ) Very good site with plenty to do for children and adults, lots of space, well run and clean. Care though if you are taking dogs they are not allowed near the lakes so limits the walks

This beautiful site has some down points. The reception staff were very good but on explaining that we had chosen the location because of a family party to be held at a hotel about ten miles from this site, family members were going to meet us in 2 cars in order that the one person who knew the area could guide us to the party venue. In the visiting cars were our grandkids that naturally wanted to see inside our new caravan, but were told this wasn't possible as we had booked an adult only pitch. We couldn't help but notice this adult only policy didn't apply to several family's in seasonal vans in the same part of the site. On asking a lady in charge of reception the following morning the same question could our grandkids see inside our new van 'Of Course' was the response. This is quite a large site in 3 sections but is not matched by the amount of toilets or showers, when we were there 2 of the 6 showers were out of action and 50p for a shower was a bit steep considering this was the most expensive site we had stayed. The showers stay on for a very long time human nature means people will stay too long or just leave it running must actually cost the site far more than the income of 50p's collected!. That aside this is a stunning part of the UK the site is very tranquil with wonderful wildlife all around' the village of Rossliston is very pretty and with good facilities.

On arrival we were greeted by the friendly staff in reception who explained about the site and where our pitch was located.
The site was in a quiet location and for the weekend we stayed very open meaning a large open field for the kids to run around in.
The facilities were very good. Small charge for the showers but 50p lasted plenty long enough for an adult and child to get showered. Always got hot water any time of day. The family shower rooms were excellent for the four of us to occupy and get washed in one go. We also made use of the tumble dryer, token operated for £2 I think. An hour cycle dried a small load, perfect after pitching in the rain!
We never visited the small animal farm on site but saw the rabbits and peacocks, all added to the charm of the site. We would definitely consider staying again.

Site as good as always. Very helpful staff. Bathrooms have been up graded in the toilet blocks this means no free showers on site and at £25 per night over bank holiday I think that is a bit much. Our only other gripe is the low amps from the hook ups. We measured ours coming into the van we had 9 amps. So had to choose between heating and hot water or boiling the kettle. Couldn't use kettle and microwave together. Mini farm is lovely for the small kids. It a day pass would be more appropriate if you are camping to enable you to return as you wish during the day. Woodland walks and fishing lakes are very well kept and any angler will enjoy the choice of 3 lakes Horseshoe is the only one close to caravans where you may hear a little noise the other 2 are more secluded. The whole area is very very well kept we love the added security of the height barrier and coded gate. Nice little cafe for breakfast at entrance to site they do take away and lovely cakes. Will always go back here but the site needs to balance camp facilities with prices are there are a lot of sites offering the same for a lot less fees per night in the area.

As we are new to the world of caravanning and have just purchased our first caravan we decided to travel only a few miles from home to the Beehive Farm site. We received a very warm welcome and everyone was helpful and friendly. We had spoken to the staff on the phone and explained that we where newbies and they arranged for us to have an easy pitch to put our caravan on. The staff even came along later on to make sure we had pitched up ok which was a nice touch.
The site itself is split into two areas one for adults and one for families. It was very clean and tidy and the facilities are first rate with plenty of showers and family rooms. The shop is stocked with the things you are likely to forget and if you need bigger items the local supermarket is not more than ten minutes away.
The site has a strict no noise after 11pm policy which was good so a peaceful nights sleep was possible
The walks round the site are lovely and if you like fishing there are a few lakes to use.
The Rosliston Forestry Centre is just up the road which also has plenty of walks to explore.
We where also pleased that the site allows dogs as our little dog had a wonderful time ( even if he did find some fox poo to roll in! )
So we would like to thank the staff for making our first caravan experience a wonderful one and would recommend it to everyone and we will be back there soon

Firstly to say that I love this site. I keep my van in storage here at use it on site at weekends when I can. The owners and wardens are incredibly helpful and the van is pulled out onto a pitch for you and levelled up for when you arrive.
The site is divided into different areas depending whether you want electric or not, hardstanding or grass, or whether you want adults only or family area. The surroundings are lovely and great for people who enjoy walking as its close to the forestry centre and their are walks direct from the campsite. Their is a coffe shop at the bottom of the site that does the most amazing breakfasts so you don't even need to cook if you don't wish.
The local village has 2 pubs, a chip shop, and co-op store and are all within a 5-10 min. Walking distance.
Ok so here is what I hope is a balanced view of the good points and not so good points.
Good Points
Peaceful, pretty, great for walking, choice of 2 pubs in rosliston village or one in coton-on-the-elms which is a 10 minute walk over fields from the site, dog walks away from the main site, friendly and helpful staff, nice pet farm on site where kids can feed the animals. Plenty of toilets and family rooms which are clean and tidy. Good security and cctv cameras, no Light pollution so you can view the stars at night.
Not so good points
The following in my opinion is potentially where the site could improve in the future.
Ok so the toilets are great and the family rooms are good too especially if you have kids but they do charge for the showers. There is only one free shower in each toilet block then the others are to use in the family rooms at 50p. In low season the free showers and toilet block are locked which then means you have to use the family rooms at a cost of 50p each time you need a shower. Don't think this is really fair and should have free shower open for use at all times. In low season there is limited heating in the buildings and is therefore cold.
The pet farm is great and the staff really love the animals, you do have to pay to enter the farm and adults have to pay too even though they are just watching the kids, you also have to pay each and every time you go in, perhaps if there was a daily fee and then you could go over several times during the day this would be better?
There is no kids play area although there is the family field which kids can play football etc. On away from the caravans and tents, I don't have kids so doesn't bother me but it would be nice if there was a free little play area on the site for the kids and keep them out of trouble climbing trees etc.
Again the only other quibble I really have is that it can be expensive, again it doesn't really affect me as the pitch fees are up to two adults and I don't exceed this but when my brother goes he has to pay for the pitch and extra for his 2 children which in high season can be dear especially if your then paying for showers and to go into the pet farm.
The ground can be boggy in winter when there has been a lot of rain and the hardstanding pitches are a little small so you cant fit an awning on the hardstanding.
Despite all this I really love this site and think its a real gem of a place to visit and is in a great location. Hopefully I have given a balanced review which people may find helpful.
