This was our first trip to this campsite and it was fantastic. The facilities were excellent and very clean with no need to wait to use the toilets and showers. The onsite shop is handy if you run out of the basics and a nice touch you can buy freshly laid eggs from the hens in the farm and there is also a small co-op in the village. There are also 2 pubs in the village which look good but we didn't use them as we had our dog with us.Plenty of space to walk and the field was very large with plenty of space between the tents. One tip take a good torch as there is no lighting at night. It was lovely to see the rabbits and peacocks (Percy and Percy jnr) roaming free. On the day we left we decided to visit the Honey Pot tearooms for breakfast and oh my god what a breakfast. We had the fishermans breakfast for approx £ 4.50 each which included 3 rashers bacon,2 sausage, egg, beans, toms and fried bread with choice of tea, coffee or fresh orange juice.
Definitely be back for another trip soon.

This was first time camping as a family and we loved this site. They put us in a huge field down the bottom and the kids could play ball games without disturbing anyone. The downside of this is its a bit of a hike to the toilets and showers but we didn't mind. There was often a que for these though. There is a nice walk around th fishing lakes and there are a few nice local pubs and the foods not bad. We would definitely visit again.

Although we enjoyed our stay at this campsite I feel I must comment on the advertised farm and play area. There is a small charge for adults and children to enter (£1 per child and £2 per adult) but once inside it is very disappointing. The area is no larger than an average back garden with a few animals, mainly rabbits that are for sale. The play area is designed for children up to a maximum age of 6 years - although advertised for children up to age 12. It would be difficult to spend more the 15 minutes there! I find it difficult to see how this area can be advertised as a farm! Ball games etc are allowed on this site, the surrounding area is pleasant with Rosliston Forestry Centre a few minutes drive away and well worth a visit - there is a free playground.

We love this site, this was our second visit and we were there for 9 nights. We find the staff and visitors very friendly. The pitch is big but the grass could have done with being cut before we got there. The fishing is fantastic and reasonably priced. The showers are fine but quiet a walk, could do with some lighting on the site as it's a bit scary in the dark. The family showers are 50p but the water lasts for ages. The shop in the village sells all the basics but there is a tesco about 5 mile away and a morrisons. Plenty of days out in the area, Rosliston Forestry Commision is down the road, loads going on there especially in the school hols, Conkers is a short drive away and worth a visit. The denby factory outlet is only a 40 min drive and Alton Towers isn't to far. Drayton Manor is a good day out fom here as well. We will be back next year for a weeks fishing.

We camped here with some friends they were in a caravan and we were in our campervan. We were given the most uneven pitch on the whole field, but when I asked if I could move it was not a problem however now I was on the wrong side of my friends caravan (if you get what I mean) there was only 1 other caravan the whole weekend Why they put us there I dont know. There is no park, except in the animal area which cost £6 for a family of 4 to go into. The children shouldnt have played football in the camping field but it was mostly empty and the area for playing ball games was too far away from us. There is no lighting on this site which made it treacherous when going to the loo late at night, unlike the previous report there was no heating in the toilet or shower blocks and it was a very cold weekend.
Although the amenities look like tin huts from the outside on the inside they are modern and clean, but cold.

On the day we arrived it had been snowing heavily overnight but we received a warm welcome on arrival and most of the snow had melted - we were shown photos from early that morning where the snow had almost buried a small back pack type tent. We were the only tent group and had the huge field to ourselves - there were a couple of families in the caravan area. Even though we are regulars here and have camped there in poor weather before they were still keen to check we were properly prepared for the expected freezing temps.
The tent field is very big with a large area suitable for big groups and rallies and some more secluded areas which were ideal for us considering the weather as they are sheltered by trees and bushes. There is a separate area for caravans and motor homes with hard standing. There are elec hook ups in the caravan area and along one side of the rally field. Water is only available along one side of the field which can be a bit of a pain if you want to pitch your tent in the more sheltered areas across the other side. If you are not keen on carrying your water you need to pitch on the side where the taps are.
The toilet block was spotless and is fairly new. There are new family rooms for showers as well and these are in the same building as the washing up facilities - this area was excellent mainly because the heating in there is so good. As it was so clean and warm even the kids wanted to wash the pots.
The site has a small farm area mainly aimed at very young chldren with rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens and some farm animals. This has been done up over the winter and is very attractive if very small. There is a charge to visit the animals of £2 for adults and £1 for kids which I would object to if I had small children who may want to visit more than once during a short stay - perhaps they should have a cheaper rate for campers.
There are lakes on site so small children need to be supervised but these are great for walks and my kids love them - they especially like walking around the lakes at dusk when we usually see a heron or after dark with a torch which is great fun. There are good pathways, wellies needed in wet weather.
There is lots to do in the area especially Rosliston Forestry centre which is free to visit and within walking distance (or a short drive and pay parking fee £1 I think.) You can easily visit for a full day out there is so much to see and the cafe is very good. There are also a couple of good pubs with food in walking distance.
The shop is very basic, milk and bread in emergencies really although the free range eggs are readily available and very nice. There is a CO-OP in village about 5 mins walk away which is well stocked.
There is no play equipment but we have never seen this as a negative as there is lots of space to run around, trees to hide behind and lots of wild life to see including Percy the peacock and some very tame rabbits.

We visited for a short break in early June with a group.
The field was huge with loads of space. A flat open field with small trees/ bushes around the edges for some shelter. We were a group of about 20 tents and a couple of camper-vans - plenty of room for us all and relaxed about how we positioned ourselves. Another group of caravans pitched down the other end of the field, but there was so much space we didn't get in each others way or disturb each other.
The facilities were fantastic. Clean and tidy. A choice of showers - either cubicles with push button showers or family rooms with pay shower (50p), basin and loo. However I didn't us the family rooms- the push button ones were fine, plenty of hot water.
The shop was big and stocked all the basics and very friendly helpful staff. We didn't visit the small farm but could imagine it being good for kids - be better if there was a discount or flat fee for campers to visit though.
A couple of nice pubs and a shop in village just a short walk away was very handy. The pub we went to served good, reasonably priced food and had a small beer garden at the rear to enjoy the sun! We spent most of our time on site enjoying the sun, but made a day trip to Alton Towers, just a short drive away.
A great site highly recommended.

My partner & I went from the friday night till the sunday. We pitched on the caravan site as we were with family who had a tourer van. This made it easier as we had an electric hookup, which was great. Yes the grass was long but suprisingly after all the rain we had I bent quite a few tent pegs on the hard ground! The toilets were clean & kept well, but as others have said they are a million miles away & only two cubicles, I could see a lot of people standing around holding themselves on busy weekends. The area was fantastic with nice walks around the area. We took most of our food with us, but as Burton-Upon-Trent was only 5 miles from the site, any requirements were not far away. We would be back to the site, even thought we live 16 miles from the site, its a very nice weekend retreat. It was so, so nice not to be kicked off on the Sunday till 4pm, sometimes at 10.30am (like some sites )we are all still recovering! overall, a great weekend.

We stayed at this site for four nights and we had a brilliant time. There was a large group of us (approx 45 people) but the site was large enough for us to have our own space without disturbing other guests( we basically had a whole field to ourselves and were able to play rounders and badminton). The people who were running the site were very friendly. As were the giant rabbits that were hopping around the site! The toilets and showers were kept very clean, especially considering it was a busy weekend and there was always hot water in the showers. I would recommend it as a lovely site for relaxing and great for those that like a bit of space around you. There are also some lovely (flat) walks around the lakes and fields and a nice pub within walking distance that serves good food.

Stayed here with UKCS National meet and thoroughly enjoyed it. There are 25 hook ups available which are together and away from the views, and a large field for about 200 units with plenty of room for the kids to play. The toilets are a good walk away if you are pitched by the lakes, and there is only 1 loo(men's), 2 urinals, 2 showers (shared) and 2 sinks I think but clean considering the amount of people using them. There is also a farm/farm shop and lakes to fish. The site is more suited for caravans or motor homes or 1 night stop overs considering the facilities.
