Lovely site with a fantastic view. Gently sloping field with a great view of the sea with a (very)steep walk to the beach. Really nice walks with rabbits and the odd fox running around. The playground castle climbing frame proved a hit with our 4 year old son and the secret garden was a lovely place to chill out with a drink. Close to the fishing harbour of Mevagissy with some real cool shops.

Love this site, bit disappointed Cafe does not open till July but otherwise couldn`t have been better very friendly, pitch where you like, when arriving after ten pay next morning. No horrible rules just common sense. Lovely views, short but steep walk to beach. Toilets and showers great and handy freezer for iceblocks.

Firstly, the positive; the site is quiet, flat, has lovely sea views and is dog friendly. We chose the site as we were staying in a small camper van and planned several cycle rides in the area over the weekend. Being off-season (1st weekend of May) and with a less than brilliant weather forecast, I chose this campsite mainly because of the website stating '. Heated shower block is designed to the highest standard. ' - just what is required at the end of a damp cycle ride. There was nobody to greet us when we arrived early afternoon, but found a hand-written notice telling us to use the disabled showers. On inspection, the shower block is a very long way from being well designed or stylish. Sadly, the toilet block or disabled room was not heated; the shower head dribbled warm enough water but was bandaged to the wall. When the owner came to collect her money the next morning, we questioned the 'heated shower room claim. ' She replied, 'Have you seen the size of the boiler, we couldn't afford to heat it up for just a few people on the site!' Surely, off-season is the exact time that heating is required? When I stayed on a similar site recently, they got over the problem by heating the disabled unit only on a timed fan heater. Additionally, for the 3 days that we stayed on site, the disabled room was not cleaned - the grass had been recently mowed which clogged up the mop and bucket - neither this was changed, the floors mopped or the bins emptied.

We paid £19 per night for small van, 2 adults and small dog, with NO electric hook up. Whilst out on the bikes we popped in to another local site; this was truly luxurious with fantastic views and facilities and with an electric hookup was £7 per night cheaper. As customers we felt very undervalued and over-charged.

We've just come back from a fabulous time at trevague farm. We decided not to have an electric pitch due to finding non electric is usually more spaced out and less noisy and wow we got that. On the top right field we had the most amazing views. Peace and the kids had ample room to play, possibly may have been a different story if we had stayed by the electric due to the site been full. The non electric pitches are on a hill but this was fine in out tent. Toilets and showers were clean but did get slightly gross by by the end the day but the site was full abd some people are as clean as others I guess. Showers are by token at 50p for 4 minutes which was ample. The beeches are very close but however you at need to know that you are on top of a hill and a 10minute walk down is a 30 minute walk back up if you have children in tow!

All in all a fab site and would love to go back again

We towed our trailer down to Trevague Farm - the first time we have used it. As a note to others, Mevagissey is sign-posted as being unsuitable for caravans because of overhanging buildings and narrow streets, but I'd avoid it with a trailer too - we were lucky not to meet anyone coming the other way, but the thought of having to reverse the trailer in streets that narrow is the stuff of nightmares. We have a Garmin satnav, and set to 'fastest route' it always tried to send us via Mevagissey when we went east. Add The Lost Gardens of Helligan as a via point - it takes no longer and the roads are wider. And Lobbs Farm Shop there is ace.

Arrival at the site is painless - there is ample space for new arrivals to park up and check in was easy. We had pre-booked a pitch with electric hook up and we were led to it by one of the staff. There are three fields, of which ours was the biggest, but as the central area was sloped no-one was on it, which made it ideal for the kids to play on.

The pitch was pretty level and a decent size, and the hook up point was not far away at all. There is coast all around, so I suspect there is often a bit of a breeze. It always seemed to come in the same direction when we were there, so bear that in mind when pitching. We pitched with the door into the slight breeze, but the slight breeze turned into 45mph wind the second day which inflated the tent somewhat, although it stood firm. The outdoor shop in London Apprentice is your nearest place for spare tent pegs.

The toilets were pretty clean, if not spotless - there was often a cleaner in there, but with a full campsite I guess you rely slightly on people to, oh I don't know - not leave toilet paper on the floor and to use the toilet brushes provided - there can't be a cleaner in there permanently! I had no complaints, but if you are expecting immaculate sparkling porcelain that looks like it's come straight from the showroom you might not feel the same way. (But I think you expect too much if you do, and camping might not be for you!)

The washing up facilities consist of three large sinks indoors and another outside but with a roof. This meant that at peak times there was sometimes a slight wait, although I did our washing up whilst the OH was reading bedtime stories so seemed to miss peak times. The water is plenty hot enough.

There are also two fridges in the washing up area, and a chest freezer in the cafe (although we didn't notice this until the last few days and had been cramming ice blocks into the freezer compartments of the fridges - we weren't the only ones who had missed the large, white chest freezer right by reception!)

The cafe is reasonably priced and the food is really good. There is a little shop there too that sells a few basics (including milk and wine)

There is a kids play area near the toilet block that the kids seemed to enjoy. It closes at 8:30 (I think - can't quite be sure) but I got chatting to the chap pitched nearest to it and he said that some kids were sneaking in after it closed and were making it tricky to get his toddler to sleep - so you might want to ask for a pitch away from the play area if you have younger kids. On the other hand, his pitch was very handy for the cafe, toilets, water and washing up, and I don't think it was a big problem.

You need a code for the wildlife hide (from reception) It's really all about the badgers though; there are bird feeders there but they were empty. Our child is too young to wait up for badgers so I can't report on whether they turned up or not!

There are three beaches within walking distance, but we only went to Gorran Haven as it has toilets, a cafe, a small shop (wetsuits, buckets, spades, flags, inflatables - all that sort of stuff) and a chip shop. It's a lovely beach but the tide comes quite high leaving not much left for a while, although if you go around to the next cove there is more sand. The walk back took about 20 minutes with kids, and is uphill (obviously).

I would definitely recommend this site, and am pretty sure we will return.

We booked a week's camping at Treveague Farm, based on the reviews we'd read on this site. My wife and I have two children aged 7 and 9, and we loved the sound of a very family-friendly campsite, close to the coast.

On the whole we enjoyed our stay. The children had a great time - we had no reservations about letting them explore the site on their bikes, and they made many new friends whilst playing on the wooden fort.

The toilets were always clean, and although some people might moan about having to pay for the showers, the up-side is that plenty of hot water was always on tap.

I thought it slightly odd that there were no fresh-water taps around the site - so depending on pitch location, it might be quite a trek to fill up your water container.

I do have two minor complaints.

Firstly, we had booked an electric hook-up pitch, so when we arrived the woman who checked us in gave us verbal instructions to our allotted pitch - even showing us on a map where we should go. We followed her instructions and were a little disappointed at how small the space was. Nevertheless, we did our best to put up our tent in the space, and tried to ensure our car and bicycles weren't in anyone's way! After spending a night with people walking past our heads while we slept, the lady came to our tent and said she'd made a mistake and where we'd set up camp wasn't ever intended to be a pitch! So we had to pack up our tent and contents, and move a few hundred yards to the correct location. Happily, this had plenty of room for our tent, bicycles and car.

The other issue we had was with our neighbours! The majority of people on the site had younger children, so as the sun went down so did the noise levels, and by about 10 o'clock most people had their children in bed. Unfortunately our neighbours had teenage children, and also had a number of friends on the site, so at about 9:30 they would all congregate in our neighbours tent for drinks and loud story telling (with the accompanying laughter). On the first night, we let this carry on until about 11:30 before finally getting up and going to ask them if they'd mind keeping the noise down. Sadly the same thing happened twice more during our stay. Clearly this is not a reflection on the campsite, but it did affect our enjoyment of the holiday a little.

Given that both of these issues are highly unlikely to happen again, and that our children had such a great time, I would gladly go back to Treveague Farm in the future.

We first camped at Treveague in summer 2011, after lengthy searches on the Internet and a shortlist of our preferences:

Near to a small Cornish harbour and beach, laid back and relaxed, no loud clubhouse or games room, small shop with basic supplies, a place to escape our hectic lives and give the children somewhere to explore the outdoors and make friends.

Treveague ticks all the boxes! It's our retreat and as soon as we turn onto the Mevagissey road from St Austell we get the 'Ahhh' feeling.

Excellent facilities, helpful and friendly owners and staff. If you want to sit in a pub every night and let your kids go to a kids club, then this isn't the place for you.

If you're happy to mingle in the secret garden (you can either buy bottled drinks from the site or take your own), your kids can play on the wooden fort or get captivated by the weekly storyteller in the tipi. I often spend a day on site, relaxing.

Practicalities - 50p each for a 4 minute shower token, more than ample and prevents long queues in the shower block. Shop with basic supplies and meat products from the farm's stock. Restaurant with home cooked meals and takeaway service, with communal garden area. This is set slightly lower level than camping field, so no noise travels. Freezer for ice packs not great as it's in constant use (door gets opened by campers frequently), so we prefer to take electric fridge and pay for EHU.

No floodlights, so when the sun goes down, campers retreat and all is quiet and calm. Rare late night noisy neighbours, who may have chosen the wrong site, are advised promptly the following morning, which doesn't need to happen often!

I've never wanted to go to the same place twice. 2015 will be our 5th main summer holiday there, which says it all really.

Well, what can I say that hasn't already been mentioned. The views are wonderful, the shop is spot on and the site is lovely. We didn't eat at the restaurant but the menu looked good and reasonable. The toilets and showers are of a good standard and our son loved the play park. The toilets always seemed clean and stocked with loo paper and soap and no queues although the site was very busy. I wasn't too bothered about the 50p for a shower, it meant that people were in and out rather than hogging them; also there was a good number of loos and toilets.

We were on an electric hook up overlooking the sea and although very busy it didn't feel like our neighbours were on top of us, it's a well spaced out site.

There are beaches that are a walkable distance and some lovely little areas to check out. We liked the little sandy bay at Gorran Haven and the handful of shops there. We didn't make it to Hemmick Beach but found the campsite a great base for exploring Cornwall. Lands End and Penzance were about a 90 minute drive away, Tintagel Castle (purported to be the birth place of King Arthur) was about 70 minutes away and Newquay about 40 mins. There is a great museum at nearby Charlestown (shipwreck and boats etc). Check out Wingz on the outskirts of St Austell, a lovely little bird sanctuary with a few other animals like the cheeky Meercats and tortoises. The family that run it are clearly passionate about rescuing birds and animals. They do a nice cream tea too.

Be warned the A30 can be a bit of a mare, lots of tailbacks and a handful of crashes and if you're not a confident driver be wary that a lot of the roads are single tracks with high hedgerows and limited visibility due to twists and turns (and the sat nav seemed to like choosing these roads as routes!).

The campsite shop stocks some essentials (including wine and local ales) and is open until 9pm and there are a few local village shops nearby but these close early, fear not though as there are a number of branded supermarkets in nearby St Austell which is about a 20min drive away and includes 24 hour ones. There are loads of petrol garages nearby, including one just before you get into St Austell and a number in the town (one is Asda's self serve) and the Asda garage was very reasonable and was £1. 28 when we left. I had put extra petrol in on the motorway fearing that I would struggle to locate a garage before we ran out and paid ridiculous prices (£1. 45).

If, like my other half, the football plays a big part of your weekend then head down to Mevagissy and check out The Ship pub, very obliging and put Sky Sports on for us (and the food was good too). We even saw a small dogfish shark hunting in the shallow port water there.

All in all very accessible to surrounding areas, lots to do and see and if it wasn't for the 9 -10 hour drive we'd be back like a shot! Thank you for a lovely stay x

Just returned from 4 nights at Treveague. What a fab place! We are family of 4 (kids 7 and 10) in a campervan, camping with friends who had a tent.

It has 4 camping fields. One large, one smaller, both with powered pitches, some protection from elements - some pitches not v private as they were close to facilities. Then 2 overflow fields - 1 higher up, with flat pitches at top and the most incredible views to coastline, the other sloping down to west coast, but some perfectly flat pitches or open space for pitching, with views of west coast. We were allowed to pitch at any non-powered free space on arrival - we chose our favourite - so big there was space for 6 man tent plus van plus car, and would have been space for a shelter if we'd brought it.

A campsite with enormous pitches, well spaced out. 360 degree views of coastline, great facilities, never had to wait for a shower, had a little line for the 4 ladies loos one morning. Always has toilet paper. Drying room, washing up (3 sinks, microwave, washing machine /dryer) and so jets for charging phones etc.

Lovely shop with food essentials, not crammed with the usual plastic tat places tempt children with. Also served really decent meals, beer etc. Treated ourselves to fantastic breakfast after packing up on last day. Also had a garden that was totally sheltered from the elements. The children sat there to play to have some quiet time on the windiest of days (when tail end of Bertha blew through).

Playground imaginative and great for our kids. Plenty of space in our camping field for kids to play cricket/footsie, kite-fly.

Walks to local beaches. Really nice walk to Gorran Haven with couple of shops/cafés, nice little beach - sandy bit got a little crowded, rocks on left offer some rock pooling. Also walked to Hemmick beach - stony beach and barely anyone there - some brave swimmers in the enormous waves! Both beaches totally idyllic, just everything we'd wanted to experience from cornwall.

We had one day trip to the Eden Project, but apart from that just explored locally. Really a place to escape to and enjoy cornwall.

Unfortunately our first impression was disappointment on arrival as having chosen the site due to the advertised cafe we were informed that it wasn't opened until the following weekend when Cornish schools closed.

It was a shame that they didn't let us know when booking as we would have been a bit better prepared and stocked up and as there was very little in the shop too we had no option than to wander down to the village - 15 mins via footpath from the site.

The cafe there was closed too (!) but the fish & chip shop supplied the by now irritable teens with delicious food.

Be warned though, not many places accept card payment and card machines are few and far between. Would recommend making sure you are stocked up in St Austell 7 miles & ~ 20 mins drive from the site.

Back to the site: we were fortunate to have one of the pitches with an outstanding sea view, second to none and would recommend this site for the peace and views alone. Had I been on the pitch right next to the bins I may not have found it such a pleasant site though.

Goran Haven village has a nice beach and small cafés and is only 15 mins walk and the wild secluded Vault beach approx 30 mins both direct from the campsite.

Toilets and showers were adequate and 50p for 4 mins seemed sufficient plus the hair dryer was free.

Laundrette only had 1 machine working and the door on that was dodgy.

Didn't use the play area as children too old, but there was plenty of space for ball games and kite flying and due to the layout the children mixed & played together. Didn't find the games barn but as the weather was glorious didn't need it.
