We stayed at treveague last weekend. Few points not happy with, weather mostly awful (the campsite's fault) but the grass was very long and clearly hadn't been cut this season, which is a pain when its rainy as everything gets very wet. The site was very busy, it was incredibly noisy virtually all night, large gang of older kids and teens hanging about on the playground until nearly 11pm, later men tramping back and forth to the loo's all night! After 2 nights, then moved our tent (having cleared it with one of the owner (later found that we had camped on a prebooked site and were hemmed in by 2 other tents). The owners did try and resolve the issue, but not very effectively and the kids were there every day and late at night. Always a queue for the washing machines and sinks, 2 of each not enough, and loo's never very clean. Not really our thing, wouldn't really rate this site which is a shame, as the location, storyteller and hide were lovely.

This is a really nice site. We were initially disappointed with the pitch we'd been allocated and were told we couldn't change it but the owner came and walked around and gave us a choice of other pitches, which was really helpful. She wasn't put out about it at all.
We got a good pitch in a small area with about 3 other tents. Plenty of electric hook-ups. The site was muddy when we arrived but dried out by the second day. I wouldn't fancy camping on the hilly field, especially getting a trailer tent up there if it's wet but plenty of space on the rest of the site. The tents are grouped in clusters and around the edge. Though personally I prefer having camping only round the outside of the field and leaving a big open space it was a fairly good arrangement and didn't seem too close together.
The toilet/shower block was always clean and there seemed to be plentiful hot water. 50p for a shower token was OK. You get 4 minutes but the water is really soft so don't use too much soap or you'll need four tokens to rinse it all off! There was a mop and bucket to clean out your shower after use, which people did use.
For a few days in the second week there was a lot of toilets with no paper, which was irritating but I think it was just a glitch as had been OK the rest of the time.
The play area was excellent. Two washing up sinks with loads of hot water, draining racks. A baby bath and a room to dress/dry hair etc. A drying room to hang towels/wetsuits etc. Washing Machines and Tumble Dryers. A fridge and a freezer. The site shop is useful for bread, milk, gas etc and does ice creams and great cakes!
We didn't eat in the Secret Garden though it looked great. The story teller was a treat and our evening routine of feeding our leftovers to the farm pigs and then going to watch the badgers was fantastic.
Gorran Haven has a lovely big beach when the tide is out and is an easy walk, though probably not for buggies. There's a car park too, £2.50 all day. Also good fish and chips, a post office and a beach cafe.
The Llawnroc Inn was OK for a drink and food and there is a pub in Gorran Churchtown but was closed for refurb.

We are seasoned campers and got a little luxury by staying in the TIPI! It was lovely. The weather was not brilliant but we had great fun, fantastic Kite flying, beautiful welsh black rams and badgers!
We had a field to ourselves with a fantastic firepit and the most wonderful hanging candle lantern in the tipi. The view from the tipi was sensational. The wind and rain rattling on the tipi is a lovely sound at night.
Steve and his team are great and very helpful - I want to add that I never saw the showers dirty and the water was always great. If you are not used to it you might find the distance to the loos an issue, but as we love wild camping this was no prob at all.
We bought lamb roast, sausages and bacon ( all from the farm) - we then bought more to bring home. The only down side of the area is that you have to travel to find a good pub, there is nothing within walking distance, but Vault Beach is a real gem, not too many people, good swimming, rock pools, be aware that the very far end is a naturist area.
Treveague is lovely site and thank goodness has no clubhouse etc - as we hate all of that, instead it has a simple restaurant serving fresh and up to date food with great company, beer and cider. I would thoroughly recommend this site.

This was our first camping trip and we all agreed it was a success. When we got to site (fairly easy to find but usual narrow Cornish lanes) we were told where we could and couldn't pitch but we were free to choose from 4 areas. We choose a pitch close to the park/amenity block but away from the main field. Plenty of space between all pitchs, some fields had quite a slope to them which might be a problem for some. Plenty of space for my boys to play football. The park is supposed to close at 9.30 and this was upheld most of the time but there was still a lot of kids hanging around until 10ish, being so close to park and being in a tent meant we did have to put up with the noise. However I'm sure it would of been much worse on a site with an entertainment centre.
Toilets/showers clean, only once found myself in a cubicle without loo roll. Nice hot showers, as you'd expect when paying extra, except on 1 occasion, which was a bit irritating. Plenty of facilities in kitchen - drying room, 2 sinks - there were queues at times but we always seemed to time it right. The washing machines and driers were ok if a little oddly priced , 2 of each, same size, washing machines £1.50/£2, driers 50p/£1???
Roads seemed to cope reasonably well with the rain. Walking times to beachs were a little ambitious, at least for us we seemed to take double the recommended time, but they were worth it. The area has lots to offer the only disappointment was Fowey which we found pretty boring. Vault beach has fairly coarse sand so better bring aqua shoes/sandals, but great for rockpools and games. Gorran haven has a lovely little chip shop - good food cooked to order, reasonably priced & you can eat on the beach. Mevagissey is nice, had a fabulous cream tea in elizabeth tea rooms - best priced in town and huge portions - my son ate himself into a coma, lol.
Another plus point I mustn't forget - the badgers you must visit the hide I saw approx 6 of them really close up, amazing

Dont go through Mevagissy, it was a horror, we never went near it again.
The camp site was very good despite being very wet and rainy. We stayed fairly close to the shop and shower block. We did have the family from hell next door, they decided to all have a shouting match at 10.30 at night which went on for an hour or more.Every night for a week!
We had a few meals in the secret garden, they were all very hot and well cooked. The children loved the hot chocolate.
The showers were hot and plentiful, we always found them clean despite the mud.Maybe it was the time we visited them, as I see other people had problems with them.
The local beaches were very pretty and clean. We loved Heligan and spent the whole day there walking miles.Eden was very busy as it was pouring with rain and I think everyone had the same idea.We went to the Maritime Museum at Falmouth which was well worth the visit and the children enjoyed it too.
We had a problem folding up our camper, but the staff were wonderful and directed us to the nearest hospital. We overstayed by a few hours because of the wait in casualty but the owners didn't seem to mind. When we got back to the site, everyone was asking us how we were, talk about the bush telegraph! We are fine and my husband and his finger are fully recovered. We would recommend this site to friends, and can testify that Truro Hospital is also very good.

We have just returned from our first Cornish visit, and a week at Treveague Farm.
The site is set in a beautiful part of the country, with views over the sea, close proximity to 3 beaches (2 of which were fabulous - Vault and Goran Haven). The farm itself has all sorts; well built facilities, lovely, friendly owners, good shop, restaurant, animals to see, badgers to spot etc. I will go through the good and not so good features below. I must mention that we had a mixture of beautiful and not so great weather, and this site gets incredibly muddy when its wet and we spent most of the week in wellies!
Great things at Treveague:
- Good size. Not too big and not too small. Pitches were not marked and so we found we had plenty of space for our large family tent.
- playground for the kids was great. Although covered in mud (see above), they had a fab time. There was also a football goal too.
- Reception, shop and eatery were well stocked and lovely cosy new builds which were just delightful. Compliments to the chef and the restaurant staff. Delicious food and the service was friendly and efficient. We ate a meal and a breakfast there and it was superb. A great resource and beats all the usual campsite 'takeaways' hands down. Local food and the option to BYO was excellent.
- Hide. We saw 7 badgers! Brilliant for the kids to see. Lovely idea.
- the storyteller. She came on the Sunday evening and told stories in the purpose built yurt type tent. The kids were enthralled. We sat close by with a local beer! Perfect.
- THe coastal walk and beaches are just outside the campsite! On one sunny day we walked round to the deserted, long, clear watered vault beach. We went swimming, rock pooling and lounged on the shingly beach. It was glorious. We then picked up the coastal path and meandered round to the beach at Goran Haven. This is sandy, within a harbour and has loos, shops, cafe etc. Just brilliant. Fab fish and chip shop too!
- closeness to Eden project (half an hour), lost Gardens of Heligan (15 mins).
The not so great things at Treveague:
- The loo block. While a great build, and plenty of space (5 showers, a separate room for hairdrying/makeup/baby change) the cleanliness was terrible. If we ignore the mud (which would have been difficult to keep on top of I'm sure), the womens toilets smelt all week. There was always loo roll all over the floor and the soap ran out on a few occasions. The floors were always wet (and muddy), wherever you were. I'm not sure how often the floors were cleaned, but no where near often enough.
- the showers. I didn't mind the token system (50p for 4 mins) at all, but I had one shower which was so hot I couldn't shower the kids, then the rest of them were tepid or cold. There was no blade for wiping down the floor with after use and so the floors were always wet, which also meant wet clothes. Although there were racks for putting shampoo etc in each cubicle, they weren't quite long enough to prevent the whole cubicle getting wet which meant getting dry in a wet area - not great. The shower area needed a) a blade to wipe down/dry off the floors b) a sign to remind people that it is courtesy to clean down the cubicle after use c) clean, soapy water bucket and mop to aid with above.
- The pitches. One field has a significant slope to the point that the rain meant cars were struggling to get up the field. We were lucky and arrived when it was quiet and got a pitch at the bottom of the slope and so only a gentle tilt, but some tents were pitched on a serious angle! I wouldn't have been amused if that was our only option.
- the washing up area. Only 2 sinks so queues. Although the upside was that the sinks were in a room with 2 full sized fridges and a chest freezer, plus a microwave and power sockets if you needed them.
- This wasn't a downer for us, but the site is not in a town. 15 min walk down a slope to Goran, the nearest small town, and a car ride to the nearest larger town. Didn't bother us at all but don't come if you want a lively, night out close by.
Word of warning regarding getting to the site. DO NOT follow satnav through Mevagissy. Although a delightful town, the roads are steep and only wide enough for one vehicle. Lots of queues, tight corners (don't know how caravans get through), and risk of car scrapage! Go via the road which takes you past the Lost Gardens. Far easier and quicker!

This is our 2nd visit to Treveague Farm, this site is a great site for families. The site was good before the improvements, its now even better, they have opened the Secret Garden restaurant and a new shop where they sell the basics. Myra and Steve the campsite owners are very helpful
They children's play area is great, they also had the storyteller twice a week which my children enjoyed. The nature hide was a big hit with my family! The showers and toilets are clean, you have also got a couple of washing machines and a drying room which was very handy. There is a number of beaches near by. Gorran Haven village is in walking distance. We would recommend this campsite, looking forward to returning for our next holiday, well done Myra and Steve!

This is a nice site but tricky to get to with our big caravan.
The good points: Good park which the kids loved.
Modern loos with another room with mirrors and electric points, also had changing mat and baby bath. Nice views if you walk up the hill on site.
Not so good points: Electric kept tripping everytime I tried to boil my kettle while the tv was on. One couple complained and got told if they didn't like it they could leave! The showers are a bit of a pain. You get 4 minutes for 50p but they are so high I had a job washing out my kids long hair. They could have done with being a bit more powerful. Contrary to what people have said the temperture was fine. We went in at either 10am or 7pm. It rained very heavily most of the time we were there and we and kids did get bored as there is not a lot to do in and around the area. All the fun stuff seemed be going on the opposite side of cornwall! There is of course the Eden project and the lost gardens of Heligan nearby but that wouldn't have really interested my four!
All in all it was an ok site at a reasonable price (did not want to pay the shop prices or the meals) but I won't be returning as it was a long journey and like I said not a lot to offer in the area. Even the beaches weren't all that great! Haha I sound like a right old miserable git.Must have been all the rain dampening my spirit!
I'm sure with good weather we would have enjoyed our stay as the site itself was nice and had a nice feel to it.

If you're a true camper I defy you not to like this site, it was clean, showers (tokens) and toilets were spotless. Pitches were a reasonable size. If you want evening entertainment other than making your own then go to a haven etc.
They have sea views from most pitches, and some have 2 sea views. The beaches are not that far away but if you're not a walker, a short drive. We didn't take kids but there is what looked like a big play fort, football post, fishing nets and various bats etc.
The people who own this site were obliging, friendly and have really thought about what campers want. The secret garden restaurant, had breakfast available, we did not try this, but their lunch menu simple panini, baguettes were of a high quality not just chucked on a plate, a lovely salad on the side, and I don't just mean a limp bit of lettuce. The Evening meals were even better not a large menu, but actually the best food I've had in a long time. Not cheap but not expensive given the very high quality. Anyway your on holiday spoil yourself. All staff were chatty and very helpful.
You also have use of fridges a freezer and microwave which in all my years of camping I've never had. There was the usual laundry facilities to, didn't use chargeable I'm sure.
They keep pigs, sheep and goats and they also have a wildlife hide, we seen 7 badgers feeding. Finally I would just like to say this is one of the nicest sites my husband and I have ever been on, maybe not our teenagers cup of tea, but for people with young families or anyone who hasn't got teenagers it is great.

A beautiful beautiful location but if you have a touring van like us the narrow roads to the site are a bit scary. In June is was lovely and peaceful but the facilities such as the shop and restaurant as promised on the website were not open. As we were looking forward to the freshly baked bread etc this was disappointing. However the shop in Gorran which is 20 mins walk down the valley sells wonderful home baked bread, cakes and scones. When we arrived there was no-one to greet us and the couple in the campervan next to us very kindly lent us 2 tokens for the showers. Apparently the owners were away the first week we were there and this must have accounted for the dirty toilet and shower block which wasn't cleaned at all and was out of loo paper more often than not. The second week was much better though.
The fish and chip shop and chinese take away in Mevagissey are both well worth the drive. The beaches and sea swimming are fabulous and all dog friendly.
As we had wonderful weather we spent a lot of time on the beaches and in the water. Great walking whichever way on the coast path and the walk from Caerhays to Portlo via East and West Portholland is to be recommended. Would stay here again off peak as location can't be beaten!
