The site was set on the top of a hill, with beautiful sea views on 2 sides of the site. It wasn't too difficult to find, and as we pulled up to the reception we were pleased to find that it wasn't too busy at the start of peak season. We were greeted warmly by Steve, the owner, who was friendly and helpful. He booked us in for the rest of the week, and gave us a complimentary shower token each, along with a welcome pack.
We found out that due to problems with planning permission they were behind in getting their shop and restaurant The Secret Garden up and running…which was a bit of a blow as it actually opened the morning we left. Although we understood that circumstances like that were unavoidable I was slightly disappointed that we were still paying high season costs when we didn’t have all the facilities meant to be available.
We pitched up our tent (hoping it wouldn’t blow away!) and were soon nice and snug. We’d already read that Treveague Farm was windy, so were only a little taken aback at how much our tent was buffered! That evening we took a lovely walk to Hemmik Beach (around the back of the campsite, past the fields of lambs) and over the week we visited Gorran Haven and Goran as they were all so close by. Gorran Haven is only half a mile away and their village shop had nearly all the local amenities you could need. Unfortunately the nearest supermarket was Asda in St Austell (9-10 miles away), but Megavissey (6 miles away) felt much closer and had several stores that stayed open in the evening if you needed anything. Lobbs Farm was also a fantastic farm shop.
The campsite has a lovely relaxed feel to it, it’s out of the way so I wouldn’t recommend it if anyone was after a lively holiday. But it felt brilliant for couples and families, particularly those who are interested in animals, as the lovely badger hive meant we got to see between 3-6 badgers over several nights. There’s also sheep, pigs and goats to say hello to.
The toilets and showers were very clean compared to other campsites I’ve stayed at (only once ran out of soap and loo-roll). Personally 4 minutes for a shower is a minute too short, but for my boyfriend it was perfect. They weren’t the warmest of showers, but they did have a lot of storage space for everything you took with you, and plenty of room to get dry without walking all over a wet floor. A hairdryer and electrical sockets in the ‘powder room’ were a great facility too as it meant girls have the option to pamper themselves if they choose to. There was also chilled out pop music piped through the shower block and kitchen 24/7 which, although might not be to everyone's taste, I felt was a lovely touch. It gave the block a really friendly holiday-feel, especially when nipping out to the loo at 3am!
The drying room was also a great way to dry your towels, and there were 2 sinks, 2 fridges and a microwave in the kitchen. My only criticism is that during the week a bag of our food went missing. When we spoke to Myra, the other owner, the impression we were given was that nothing could be done about it, that there were drifters who scour campsites at night and steal food for convenience. Apparently a group of girls had had their food stolen too. To prevent it happening again, the kitchen was locked that night at 10pm-8am, and could only be accessed by a security digi-code. Whilst I appreciate once an event like this has happened there isn’t much that can be done about it, I do feel that if the owners offer the facilities of a kitchen and a fridge – with no warning of theives, have a responsibility to protect the goods of those who use them. Putting a lock on the kitchen door after mine and others food had been stolen was a great idea to stop it happening again – but why wasn’t it in place already to stop it happening to me?
Still, this far from ruined my time at Treveague Farm, and I look forward to returning on another occasion in the future.

First of hopefully many visits to this site,we loved it.
Good size pitches, clean and tidy loos and showers (not the hottest water in the showers though) and basic shop on site, with the essentials.
Coastal walk to nearest village, Gorran Haven 15mins (not for pushchairs) where there is a good bakers and fish and chip shop as well as lovely beach.
Our kids loved the fort adventure playground on site,we had a pitch very near this which meant they could come and go without needing supervision.
Saw badgers from the hide on site also.
Site is very exposed which wasn't a problem til the Wednesday of half term week when it was sooooo windy,so you may want to take those storm pegs with you!
All in all we rated this simple site very highly and are hoping to go again in the near future.

This site has beautiful views and is well placed for really lovely beaches, which was great because the weather was wonderful! The tent pitches were a good size.
However, we were surprised and disappointed that the camp shop was not open during our stay (the last week in June) as the website says it is open daily, and as it was an important factor in our deciding to book there - we like to not spend our holidays in supermarkets! The restaurant was closed for renovation, but apparently will open when the peak season starts. Re the shower blocks, during our stay one of the men's shower cubicles was permanently out of action, some of the shaving lights did not work and in the ladies and gents the loo paper ran out in several cubicles by 8.30 a.m. every morning.
We have a tendency to get lost when trying to find new places, and therefore we hope that the following directions will be helpful to people like us - they may not be the most direct, but they are easy to follow! Take the A390 through St Austell. Take the B3273 signposted Mevagissey. Continue for around 4 miles, passing through London Apprentice and going by Pentewan Sands on your left. Turn right at big white sign 'Portmellon, Gorran Haven, St Ewe'. Continue, passing Lost Gardens of Helligan on your left, for about 5 and a half miles. Ignore the sign which says 'Treveague Farm 1 and a half miles' but with no arrow on it. Eventually come to village sign 'Gorran'. Go down the hill into the village passing the Gorran Stores/Post Office on your right. Go up the hill, leaving the village behind.
At the top of the hill, on a bend, take the right turning signposted 'Boswinger, Penare, Caerhays, Veryan'. Drive past school on your left. IMMEDIATELY after the school, take the first left, signposted 'Penare', (or, if you are coming from the other direction, 'Treveague Farm'). Go along narrow road (beware oncoming tractors!) until eventually you see the entrance sign 'Treveague Farm'.

This site is in a fantastic location, with all the wonderful walks, beach etc mentioned in previous reviews. The Hide was extremely well done and worth a visit.
However, at the time of our visit a few days ago, there was no welcome (we had to search out the proprietor as Reception seemed permanently closed), and received no information or pack about the facilities or local area. It was reasonably busy so well into season.
The facilities are indeed very comprehensive and amongst the best quality build we have experienced. Unfortunately, the wonderful toilet block were not being maintained. What a shame for such excellent facilities.
There also was no control of dogs which were allowed to run freely over the site, resulting in dog poo all over the place.
Very disappointing for such a marvellous location.

Superb site, and very reasonable. Facilities were very clean. Showers were cold one morning, but campsite owners sorted it very quickly and refunded my token.
Don't have kids but my parents came to visit, and had no problem parking by pitch - although out of main season.
Views from the site are fantastic, with sea on both sides of the headland - one of the sites best features.
Really enjoyed seeing the farm animals, and in particular the bird-hide in the manner of Springwatch. We saw badgers almost every night of our stay from the hide, as well as birds feeding.
Didn't need to drive anywhere, walked the coastal path from the campsite, in a decent loop via Gorran village, and west to the coastal path by a small castle, then back along the coast to Gorran Haven, passing 3 beaches and coves along the way.
Pub in Gorran Haven is adequate for food, but better choice in Mevagissey nearby.
Fantastic - will come again.

Brilliant site! Excellent facilities and very clean too. Fees are very reasonable, and the owners are very helpful. The information pack on arrival is full of useful information about the local area including maps of the surrounding countryside. There is something for everyone on this site:- a great playground for children of all ages, nearby hide facilities for nature watching and even badger watching at twilight. Nearby beaches within walking distance, basic shop facilities on site, with the local post office / shop in the village just 10 mins walk away. Also supplied in the welcome pack are phone numbers for all the local restaurants / pubs, or you can eat in the sites own restaurant for a great meal at a good price. St Austell is just 10 miles away (20mins) and has all the facilities of any major town including supermarkets, garages, petrol stations etc. The site is just 30mins from the Eden Project and well placed for all attractions in South Cornwall and West Devon.
Overall, I found that, for a first experience camping with 2 young children, the site enabled a very relaxed and enjoyable holiday.

Great campsite for families with young children. Ours were 4 & 5 and loved the freedom of being able to go to the shop( hut ! ) every day for bread milk papers etc. Was worried about it being really busy in August but it worked to our advantage as the children made loads of friends and we read lots of books ! It was pretty quite after 10pm too. We managed a week in foul weather and were impressed how clean the showers/ toilets were kept. Booked in for 2009.

Our first camping holiday, and we were really pleased with this site.
The facilities are excellent, the drying room made all the difference, in what was a very wet and stormy week.
The kids play area got top marks from our boys it was a shame that the weather stopped them using it more.
Myra and Steve are very friendly and helpful, and their farm is lovely to wander round, feeding the pigs is an extra bonus!
The walks to the beaches are lovely, although the one to Gorran Haven is tricky with a pushchair.
The beach at Gorran Haven is lovely and safe and The Mermaid beach side cafe is reasonably priced, well stocked, with friendly staff.
All in all a great site with tremendous views, we will definitely visit again.

Excellent facilities for young families for example the playground is safe and rather large. Football nets as well. The local beach is clean and just 10 mins away on foot. There are two other local beaches 15mins away and 25 mins away by foot.
You are provided with a welcome pack upon arrival with local information for you to read about, the site and the area, information also on emergency numbers.
Toilet block very good and clean, separate ladies and mens. You do have to buy a token for 50p to use the showers, this gives you 4 mins to shower. Ladies there are plug points in the shower area for hairdryers etc free off charge and large mirrors all free of charge. Free uses of fridges and freezers and microwave plus a dry room. You do have to pay for washing machine and dryer.
When we arrived from a 8 hour drive our tent unfortunately broke on the first night. Staff offered us a spare tent to use at no extra cost for the week. The area is beautiful un- spoilt with lots of nature. The site was windy as it was on a hill however on a sunny day you could easily tan! When you arrive you do need to book in with reception, try to arrive between 8-10.30am or 5-7pm other wise you will need to search for staff on your arrival.
St Austel is the nearest town with an Asda or Tesco.
Overall a really very good campsite and would go again if we lived nearer to the the area.

Our visit to Treveauge Farm was our first camping trip and we absolutely loved the place.
The farm is a working organic farm and you are encouraged to get involved by visiting the animals. The pigs will gladly 'recycle' any non-meat food waste that you have.
The site takes tents and caravans and is on a peninsular with stunning sea views. A couple of the fields are sloping, but nothing too severe.
Our pitch had water and a hook-up and was right next to all the site's facilities.
There's a reception hut which also sells newspapers, milk, bread and other essentials. They also sell the farm's own produce such as bacon and sausages as well as a selection of buns and pastries delivered daily by the local baker.
The toilet and shower block is kept very clean and I never had to queue for a shower despite it being a Bank Holiday weekend. The showers cost 50p and work on tokens that you buy from Reception. For one token money you get 4 minutes of lovely hot water. From the ladies shower room there's another door which leads to a dressing room where you can plug in hairdryers or straighteners. There's also a travel cot and an ironing board in this room.
In the washing room there are two fridges, a large chest freezer, two sinks and a microwave. There was a queue for the sinks at busy times, but I never had to wait more than five minutes.
From the washing room there's also a drying room where you can leave your towels, shoes, wetsuits, etc to dry off.
The site also has a washing machine (2 x £1 coins) and a tumble dryer (1 x £1 coin). The washing machine was very popular and seemed to be on the go permanently. If you do use it, don't worry if it doesn't seem to work at first, you have to slam the door!
There's a large grassy area on the site that they keep for children to play and there's a wooden fort-like activity centre for pre-teens to use. Down a little lane, just off from the farm you'll find the hide, where you can go to watch birds and badgers. This is a great hit with the children.
The site has also recently started doing food. They do breakfasts and evening meals. We ate there a few times and the food is outstanding. They use the farm's own produce and the prices are very reasonable. You eat in a little log shelter which is covered and can take your own drinks with you.
Around the site is some beautiful countryside. It's a ten minute walk down a footpath to the local village Gorran Haven. This is a lovely village which has a beach, beach shops, post office, bakers, pub and chip shop. The walk down is easy but I wouldn't advise it to anyone with a pushchair or with anyone who wouldn't be able to walk back up the hill. There is a large car park in Gorran Haven where you can park your car for £1.
You don't need to take lots of things with you either, as just into St Austell (about ten mins drive away) there is a large Asda store and a Tesco too, so it's easy enough to buy things there.
The roads leading up to the site are a bit daunting, as they are single lane, and you have to be constantly on your guard for things coming the other way. However, I think this was the only negative thing we could come up with about the holiday.
Overall, we couldn't fault this site. It's a beautiful place with great facilities and the owners and staff are amongst the friendliest and most helpful people we've ever met. We can't wait to go back next year.
