We have just returned from our 5th visit to this site. Where can I start, if I was to run a campsite this would be how I would do it.
We arrived around midday and joined the queue of people at the reception filling in the booking form. Although it was busy we were dealt with very quickly by the friendly staff. (Time between arriving at the site and setting up was about 15 minutes) The toilet/shower blocks are always clean and continually cleaned throughout the day. If they are busy there are plenty of others you can use on the adjacent field. The site has designated areas for Caravans / Motor homes / Trailer Tents / Large Tents with or without electric hook up’s and large flat fields for people happy to pitch up anywhere. The site is patrolled at night by the wardens who are quick to tell people to settle down when they get a bit noisy. The gates are shut to traffic at night so you can ensure a great night’s sleep.
Good points
• Free clean showers with plenty of hot water • Very well stocked shop • Spacious pitches • Don’t try to cram to many people on • Plug sockets in toilets so you can take your own hair dryer/ straighteners and charge phones • Extremely friendly staff who are very knowledgably about the local area • Easily accessible for caravans and motor homes • Ability to freeze ice packs at reception • Beautifully landscaped flat site with great views of Ben Nevis • Water drains away very quickly so the site rarely gets water logged. • Toilet blocks are never far away no matter where you camp. • Plenty to do for all
Development areas
• Could do with more pitches as can get full very quickly at busy periods. • More electric hook up points required • Can make a camping holiday quite expensive
Overall this is a great site with lots to do in the local area. Morrison’s is just down the road in Fort William and plenty of petrol stations nearby. The site is very well policed for the rules and if people are noisy just let the wardens know and they are very quick to act. This is a very luxurious site and camping here can get expensive. For two adults with a large tent and electric will cost £20 a night.

Excellent campsite, it is a very large campsite but you don't notice because it's sectioned off very well and everyone seems to enjoy the quiet atmosphere so you never get any noisy neighbours. The view is incredible, especially if you book and stay in Spruce field (which we do each year), you are right at the foot of Ben Nevis - so close you can watch being coming up and down. All the pitches are level and good sized if in Spruce field - never pitched in the other fields. We also book ahead which means there is an additional £10 booking fee.
It's an excellent base for climbing Nevis if you have the energy, I preferred the slightly lazier walk up to the Steall Falls and the Nevis Gorge. If you drive right out of the campsite entrance then all the way along the main road until you get to the end, the road slowly gets thinner and thinner until you reach a carpark which is the end of the road. The walk from there over a small waterfall and into the valley towards the Steall Falls is lovely.
The on-site shop has everything you could need, including calor gas, although there is a Morrisons in Fort William if you need a bigger shop. The burger van is also very useful, serving breakfast, lunch (I think) and dinner.
The facilitates are always clean and warm, can be a bit busy but best time to go is around 4pm - just after cleaning. There are free hair dryers along with plug sockets.
Generally a very good site that has everything you could want.

Excellent. Would recommend to anyone in any circumstance. Arrived after overnight drive and were allowed to pitch up straight away. Large choice of camping spots. Easy access, hard standing for cars is not too inconvenient. Good space with 4m rule.
Pleanty of facilities. There is also PLENTY OF ROOM in these facilities, e.G. You can stretch out in showers and keep your clothes dry. Not like some sites where it feels like turning around in a wet wardrobe.
Good shop. They will freeze your blocks. Breakfast wagon. Numerous dryers around site.Always managed to find one free.
Regular cleaning and rubbish collection. Patrols night and day. 80% well drained even after heavy rain.
Beautiful location, perfect for lowland or highland walking. Ben Nevis Inn is walking distance. On site bar restaurant bit pricey but smart. All good. Will return.

This site is fantastic in every way. Spotlessly clean facilities at all times, spacious pitches, excellent shower cubicles with free showers. There is a free hairdryer but there are plugs so you can take your own electricals. This site is in a stunning location, without being too far away from anything. 1 thing - take some midgie repellent (they do sell Avon Skin So Soft in the site shop if you forget). I will definitely go back to this site the next time I am in Fort William - without a doubt.

Fantastic location for a campsite. Right below Ben Nevis. Reception very helpful and lots of information about surrounding attractions and climbing Ben Nevis which I'd definitely recommend!
Good shop on campsite, but also various supermarkets just down the road in Fort William. Also, restaurant just down the road (Glen Nevis Inn I think) which was a 5 min walk and good food.
Showers were always clean, hot and powerful, with various blocks all over the campsite. Freezer in reception for ice blocks (coats 20p each). You also have to park on the track / gravel bit adjacent to your car, which is good as it keeps the grass nice, especially if it's been raining a lot.
We also visited Glen Coe, Glen Etive, Steall Falls (at end of the road the campsite is on), all of which had good walks and sights to see.
Quiet after 11pm in the week whilst we were there, however, come Friday night, the rule keeping tents 4m's apart was not enforced and we were kept awake by various groups past 1am, which was a shame as the rest of the stay was brilliant and one of the best we have stayed on.
Would definitely stay here again, during the week and other that this we had a brilliant stay, with lots to see in surrounding area.

Wow - what a stunning campsite! Spent 2 nights here but wished we could have stayed longer.
The good points -The view, stunning! very friendly staff, we had paid the £10 to reserve a place (think it must be worth doing peak season although there were spaces when we were there). Toilets and showers very clean and lots of hot water, didn't have to wait as I used them in the evening rather than the morning! Rubbish was cleaned regularly -site was immaculate. A good shop and not too pricey although there is a Morrisons about 2 miles down the road and a Tesco in Fort William.
Bad points - none really! If I was being really picky, it was a bit annoying that the pitch was all gravel as our kids sleep in the campervan awning and the ground was rock hard but I am sure they would have let us move to a grass pitch if we had asked! Didn't even get bothered by the midges (but we did use Avon skin so soft!)Will definitely go back

Busy site, with clean toilet block. Stunning views. Pub ok, but never tasted the food. Maybe I like smaller sites because I didn't really like the amount of people about. It felt overcrowded. Thought it expensive at £25 per night though. Nice enough site if that's your thing. Not my cup of tea though.

What a stunning location for a campsite! Right at the foot of ben nevis surrounded by mountains, woodland and a river. Being a naturalist as well you can't ask for more than cuckoos and willow warblers waking you up in the morning.
The site was clean, the showers were hot and powerful and there are even electric sockets for hairdryers/straighteners in the toilets!
The shop on site stocked some essential goods and the nearby bar was good for a drink in the evening-didn't eat there though so can't comment on the food.
If you've come to Scotland for mountain walking there are so many routes to choose from from the campsite.
Think we were particularly lucky with midges as they only prevented us from sitting outside one night out of 6.
Only thing I would say is try to avoid coming here for a peaceful camp when events are on in Fort William-such as the downhill mountain bike championship, which was on when we were there. The campsite got full of mountain bikers who just wanted to get drunk all night-rightly so! The earplugs were a godsend but the wardens were really good at keeping on top of the noisy drunks!
I would definitely go back again. Fab!

I'm just home from a 5 night stay at this caravan site and may I say it was my 1st caravanning holiday
It was very clean and tidy, loads of space between each plot, free hot showers which were very clean, a supply of toilet paper at all times (very important for us girls lol), a socket for hair straighteners in the toilet block (again very important!). It was very peaceful and had no problems with any rowdy folk. Prices very reasonable for site. Esp with the view of the 'mountain', having it watching over you all day is very magical!
The on site bar and restaurant (about a 5 min walk away) is really good, whether it be bar meal or in the restaurant itself the food was great and great value for your money. Approx £15 for 2 mains and 2 sweets plus 2 soft drinks. Not bad in my eyes.If you go you have to try the warm chicken caesar salad. Its amazing! The fish and chips in the bar is great too.
If staying in Fort William you have to go on the Steam Train to Mallaig, it goes over the Viaduct that features in the Lord of the Rings films, it also gives you a view of the white sands of Morar which looks like some tropical island! Fish and chips by the harbour in . Mallaig is FAB!
I wasn't brave enough 'this time' to go up 'Ben Nevis' but did go through the forest behind the caravan park which was lovely, and great for the dog, also a walk along the river was really nice, the dog also had a wee dip in the crystal clear water. The views are spectacular!
I used to live in Fort William when I was little and it was nice to wander round and see how much has changes (not been back in around 31 yrs!). And that's a lot of changes!. But had also forgot actually how beautiful the West coast of Scotland really is!
So on the way home we drove to Urquart Castle and was really disappointed to find that you now have to pay to wander round it! And £7 per person I think is a bit steep!.You didn't have to pay when I was a kid!.The drive up the West coast past Loch Ness was magical and so beautiful it was breathtaking!.I would recommend the drive for anyone, and we were towing a caravan, and still had plenty of space on the road!
I give the caravan site 10 out of 10 and we are now going for a bigger caravan after my 1st successful weekend and do some touring. But my 1st stop over will defo be Glen Nevis!
One more small thing. I'm never bothered by midgies (or mozzies abroad), but the shop sells Avons Skin so Softly which is worth buying, my Bf gets bitten but didn't this time. Whether its because I was next to him or not I'm not sure lol lol, but they weren't much of a problem. And I seen loads of folk walking around with loads of bites round their legs etc!

My husband and I stayed at this site for one night with two friends as we travelled from Lands End to John O'Groats (they were cycling .).
This site was by the far the best site we went to during the trip and for my husband and me the best site we have ever been to. To start with the location is fantastic at the foot of Ben Nevis. The facilities are among the best we have seen, there are ample showers and toilets and every kind of facility you could ask for at a camp site and all very good quality and clean.
The pitches are level and you have a lot of space for each pitch. There are dedicated dog walking fields which we thought a very good idea. There is a very well stocked shop (the best we've come across so far) and the staff are very helpful and accommodating, they managed to give us a pitch for the motorhome as close to the tent field as possible as we had a motorhome and tent in our group.
We definitely plan to go back to this site, it's just a shame it's such a long way from London or we'd go regularly! Can't recommend this site high enough. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
