One of the best campsites I have stayed at. The pitches are very spacious and the site is unbelievably quiet. OK it was midweek but at 9am you could only hear the birds!
The walk to the pub was lovely and only 5 minutes through a lovely churchyard. I had the ham egg and chips. The chips are fantastic and home made. Beer was good too.
Facilities were ok but only one gents shower although was not a problem - could have done with a little more oomph though! All facilities very clean.
There is a great campsite shop with everything you could want including cakes!
All in all an excellent site and very close to Stratford but in a peaceful location.

Hard not to have a wonderful weekend when the weather is fabulous - and we did! Island Meadow was a great find for us near home. Very easy to get to from M42/m40. Set in a nice area of the country, plenty to visit nearby. We went to a proper village fete and had a lovely meal in the Kings Head pub which is about a 10 minute walk away.
The site itself is flat, and not too crowded given they said they were fully booked. There are statics all around the edge of the field, and some people might not like that but they are well spaced away from tourers. With hedges and trees all around, it is a pleasant feel but you do not have much of a view beyond the edge of the campsite.
The campsite owners were very friendly and on hand, running a handy little shop. Toilets and showers were fairly basic but clean and we didn't have to queue even though there were only a couple of showers. My only complaint would be that there were no paper towels or a handryer, but a fabric towel which looked well used. I just took my own.
All in all a nice site that we would happily return to for a weekend away.

We've stayed here a number of times and always loved it.
The main pitches for tourers are around a central 'meadow' area, where people sit, barbecue, watch their children play, etc. It's very pleasant and any activity usually dies down before bed time, so its never too noisy. Smaller tents are usually pitched on a smaller separate field nearer the owners house.
The toilet/shower facilities are a bit dated, but clean. Pitches are flat, on grass and have electric hook up.
The site owner is very friendly, always on hand for help and advice, and the small on site shop is well stocked. Newspapers and bread/pastries (from a nearby baker) can be ordered for the next morning.
The short off-road walk to the village pub (a gastro) is very pleasant. Stratford is about a 10 minute drive away.

A good touring site in an excellent location
We used the site as a base for cycling to Stratford, Evesham and surrounding areas and would certainly recommend it
It was bank holiday weekend and as expected the site was busy but to honest it didn't feel crowded.
The facilities and site itself were clean and well maintained and my other half found the showers in the ladies to be some of the best we have come across when touring
Ok there was only a couple of showers for the gents but if you picked your times it wasn't a problem.
Well stocked shop on site with a pub and a social club in easy walking distance both well worth a visit. Katherine who runs the place is always on hand for help or advice and nothing seems to be to much trouble
The main area for tents and tourers is on a level grassed area in the middle of the site and is surrounded by statics some have mentioned a lack of privacy but if you want hedges and fences maybe its best to stay at home.
I agree with a previous reviewer that it would be nice to have a dryer (or paper towels) in the gents as the towel provided can get a bit damp (however you soon learn to take your own)

We stayed here for one night in our Touring van. Having read the reviews before booking we were so disappointed when we arrived we nearly left!
The Statics are nicely positioned overlooking the water and the area for tents around the house is lovely, however the area for caravans is a circular bit of a grass in the middle of the statics so everywhere you look you see green vans. It really felt that you were in a gold fish bowl. There is no pitch separation, it would be nice for a few hedges or laurels to be planted to make it look a little prettier.
There were only about 5 vans there when we went, if it was full it would have seemed very crowded.
The toilet blocks were very dated and luckily didn't have to use them
We also weren't overly keen that Frisbee and bat and ball were played right next to our van.
However, there are positives to this site. The lovely friendly owner, the well stocked shop, the location and the pretty walk to the Kings head Pub where we had a lovely meal, not pub grub but well worth the money and reasonable for the quality and service.
It served its purpose well for us but there are prettier sites out there.

My dad, brother and I visited the site for a long weekend where we planned to nip up to see the football at West Brom, have a round of golf, and do some fishing. It was pretty handy to get to the football - about 40 mins drive, it's also very handy for some lovely countryside and close to Stratford -on-Avon. We played 9 holes on a golf course at Welford on Avon which is highly recommended. Well maintained, reasonable price - no need to book and a friendly attitude.
At island meadow we had a static caravan which was brilliantly appointed. Clean, central heating, lovely hot spacious shower, plenty of comfy seating with freeview tv, en suite toilet in master bedroom, useful kitchen with everything you need thrown in including a full gas oven/hob, and a view of the Alne River. There is also a nice pub and club in the village only 5 mins walk away. The site has a nicely stocked shop and a small play area for children with tree house and stuff. For young kids - do be aware that the site is surrounded by a river which is deep in places. We did also use the camping toilet facilities towards the end after we had handed in the caravan keys and done a bit of fishing. These were also clean and sufficient in size with a laundry room thrown in.
I would like to make a special mention of the staff on site who were lovely ever so friendly and helpful. I left some stuff on site accidentally and they are sending it back happily. Most helpful. In summary it was a very pleasant site to have stayed on. I may even try it with the tent next time (as they have a camping field near the weir). I will now write a a review on the fishing as there is not much else on here about that. The river is very small, running all around the boundary of the site. It splits at the top end where there is a weir and weir pool and rejoins at the bottom end of the site. It is surrounded by a lot of trees so spots where it is easy to fish are limited.
When the river is low, as it was when we arrived, the weir pool end is a good spot where there is a nice deep trot from the weir down or some slow water above (if you can avoid the weed) The locals seem to favour a leger in/or above the pool but we had more success trotting. From the pool we hit roach and perch. We also caught a single brown trout of about a pound trotting maggot, and are informed there are also bream, chub and some carp around in there, and occasionally barbel and even Salmon! One thing to note is that the bank down to the weir pool is a long bricked slope and very slippery, and there is a (approx 3ft)wall to jump down to get there. Care is required. On the second day the river was up slightly because of the rain, and we fished a couple of the deep runs close to vacant static caravans where we had perch, roach, ruffe, dace, minnows, and 1 chub of about 1. 5-2lb. On the last day we had a lot of rain for 24 hours or so and the river was pretty unfishable. The weir was a torrent and the flood gates next to it were opened which caused the deeper trots further down to also be too fast to do anything very useful with. Possibly above the weir would have been ok and the convergence of the rivers at the other end of the site provided the possibility of getting a line in, but all bites were missed there unfortunately. So to summarise the on-site fishing, it was an interesting fishery and the weather this weekend let us see it at both extremes and in-between!

We stayed at this campsite on the back of the reviews we read on here.
Unfortunately unlike other reviews we were very disappointed with this site. We both love animals but found the free roaming ducks, chickens and especially the geese a major downside as we were constantly having to watch where we stepped as they left an awful lot of poop around the camping area!
The facilities were ok (two showers each for males and females) plenty of toilets, two washing up sinks and freezer for ice blocks but we found the cleanliness of the showers and washing areas extremely unsatisfactory and totally inexcusable as there were numerous cobwebs with dead flies and spiders (which looked as though they had been there for some time). There were no paper towels or hand drying facilities in the washroom, instead there was a dirty looking towel for everyone's use!
We consider this site and what it offers very poor for the 18. 00 per night asking price. This is the first site we have stayed on that we were reluctant to return to at the end of the day.

Wanted to go to this site for a while and it was worth the wait! Idyllic setting near the river, we were in the garden area.
Although we were directed to a pitch there was plenty or room to get our tent into a good position as it isn't overcrowded, Katherine said she can't abide packed sites - hurrah!
Toilet block was clean with 2 showers for men and women - decent enough to get clean after a mucky walk and didn't have to wait.
The shop is like an Aladdin's cave with lovely fresh bread, local beer and cider and nothing is really too much trouble.
The area is great for walking - we walked to Wilmcote and along the canal to Stratford which was lovely; another couple walked one way and got the bus back so lots of choice.
This site had the knack of feeling organised and well run (e. G: bins emptied daily, etc) yet laid back and we loved it - a real gem and we'll certainly be back!

We booked this site for 3 nights at the last minute as a stopping off point on our way home. It is a real delight, quiet, surrounded by trees, the old mill stream and a pub a short walk away but best of all the friendly, happy welcome you get from Katherine, the whole atmosphere is relaxed and you don’t feel encumbered by rules and regulations.
I agree a hand drier would be a benefit in the gents and an extra mens shower but Katherine did say I could use the disabled if the mens was already in use and the water was hot, adjustable, plentiful and not restricted by those blasted push buttons.
Try some of Katherines duck eggs scrambled for breakfast on the bread she sells in her shop, it’s a real treat. This is a great touring base for Stratford and the surrounding area and we found everything we needed close by.
The weather was not at its best so we toured in the car mainly but we think this site is gem not to be missed and we will be back.

Just returned from a five day break, and unfortunately the weather was awful so didn't get to enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
Katherine the owner has to be the best owner we have ever met, nothing was too much trouble. The toilets and showers were ok but perhaps a electric hand dryer instead of a towel would make a big difference and the mens could do with another shower.
This site is great location for getting to stratford and the local village Aston Cantlow was beautiful. The only thing that really spoilt the stay was the awful weather and winds.
Ideal to stay for a long weekend.
