We have just come back from a lovely weekend at this welcoming site. The lady was extremely friendly and helpful, and on arrival she showed us to our pitch personally and insisted that we took camp and had a cup of tea before paying for the pitch. Which I feel was a lovely touch!
Lots of room for the children (mine being 10 and 12) to run around, climb trees or just play ball games. Also dog friendly with lots of public footpaths on the doorstep to explore the amazingly quiet surroundings.
Many times over the weekend we all stopped and listened, and the only sound were the birds, no cars, planes, etc. It was lovely.

Visited Island Meadow for a 3 night stay over the Easter weekend.
Firstly, the lady running the site was extremely friendly and helpful; from booking the site through to being there to answer any questions we had when we arrived.
We were asked to pitch our tent in the smaller field (behind the house / shop). This was great for us as it was quieter and, in my opinion, all the better for being totally separate to the static caravans and tourers. Only problem may be that that area is next to the river so quite a bit of water noise at night (didn't bother me, but may some people).
I thought that the toilet and shower facilities were absolutely fine. Never any lack of hot water (free) and always clean. The shop was handy (if, like all campsite shops, a little bit dear) and they took orders for papers to be delivered, which was nice. There is also a small children's play area which our kids enjoyed.
There are geese and ducks around so I suppose you may have to be careful if you had a dog (we don't) but these were put away at night and only freed again in the morning - no earlier than 8:30 when we were there so noise from them wasn't a problem.
All in all, I'd recommend it for a relaxing, friendly break!

We stayed on a very cold (-5) Saturday night in March 2010. The weather wasn't a problem for us in our motorhome, but we were disappointed with the site as it didn't live up to our expectations. The facilities were quite tired and old! Only the ladies washrooms were open for tourers, because of the low temperatures. We were told this would not be a problem as only 2 pitches would be occupied, but in fact the facilities were very busy, as the static caravan residents were using the touring facilities.
The site also probably looks more attractive in the summer months. We were surprised to find how many static caravans there were which are all fixed high off the ground and leave the unsightly sewer pipes, breeze blocks and Gas bottles highly visible.
We enjoyed the walk to the local pub for a meal with friends. The food was quite expensive but the Pubs location is very convenient.
Stratford is nearby and we had a great time walking around the town on Sunday morning.
It's OK for an overnight, but we can't recommend it for a longer stay.

Island Meadow is recommended as a quiet, friendly site where we received a warm welcome. The facilities are good and the toilets, waste disposal points etc., were clean and well maintained. The showers were free with plenty of hot water, although a little out-dated. The walk from the site through to Aston Cantlow village via St John the Baptist Church is well worth the effort. We enjoyed our visit and would return again in the future. Dog owners in tents should note that ducks, geese and chickens are free to roam and this may become an issue from time to time.

I loved this campsite. We set up our tent next to the river at the back of the house (better than the front as that is not near water and next to entrance).
Secluded location - literally an island - but pub is near enough to walk to and basic supplies are sold on site.
Lots of geese and ducks which sniff round your tent and wake you up really early but it's kind of cute to have them wandering round the place.
Suggestion to owners - let them out of the pen a bit later?? They seem to be quiet while locked up.
Lots to explore in the local area too - enjoyed my weekend here.

Lovely site, owner very friendly and welcoming. Tent pitch was in an large area surrounded by trees so good for privacy.
Toilet, Showers and Wash area in need of an update but its hot running water and its free so cant really complain too much!
Only 5 mins drive into Stratford. Pub in local village is expensive so ventured into Stratford itself which was lovely!

We chose to visit Island Meadow as it was half way between us and friends. Its a great campsite set in a beautiful area. Facilities were fine and always clean. Our only problem was that we picked the first weekend in June when the rain decided to start on the Friday night and not stop, consequently river filled up and campsite started to be threatened by the river breaking its banks. Unfortunately the lady from the campsite advised us to pack up and leave just to be on the safe side, we then had two very disappointed children. But we appreciated her honesty (she only charged us for the one night)and it really was the right decision. So I would highly recommend the site for its peace & quiet, surrounding area, pub in walking distance but do check the forecast before you go! We will be back and look forward to re-visiting Stratford in dry weather!

What can I say? This was our first camping trip (many festivals, but they don't really count!) and we chose here, due to reviews and the fact that that it was close to Stratford etc. It was perfect!
We were camping and were taken to a spot in a v. secluded location, there were 4 other tents on our area (next to the house) and we didn't feel that these intruded on us at all, there was space for more tents but the owner told us that this was as full as she ever liked to be which was a real bonus for us.
The location is lovely, a river surrounds the site, there are some v nice static caravans, space for tourers and tents, we were at a completely opposite end to the tourers so didn't have much interaction at all with them.
Facilities are good, the shop stocks all the basics you need, and, as many people have said some delicious home made cakes! The owner was v pleasant and helpful, always chatty when we went into the shop. Toilets / showers are fine and spotlessly clean, we went on bank hol weekend and were never queuing for anything, there is a good (also free) hairdryer in the ladies showers and also a double plug for straighteners etc. Again when I used these I was the only person in there. Dishwashing was fine and again we were never queueing.
There is a pub 5 mins walk away called the King Head, the menu looked lovely but they seem to do some very strange 'sitting' times so we missed out on eating there, I would say phone ahead and book is probably easiest, we had drinks in there though and it's a lovely country type pub.
There is also a members club opposite the pub, this is very posh (in my opinion) for a social club and is definitely worth a look! You don't need to be a member to use it, but don't make our mistake of double checking it at the bar, as we then got a lot of: 'not from round here?' type local comments - oh how we laughed. The only downside with the pubs is the walk through the grave yard home!
This really is a lovely campsite, we will definitely be back!

This was our second visit to island meadow, but the first one in our caravan to practice putting up the awning.
Once again we had a great time.
The owners are very helpful and friendly. They have a small shop which sells homemade cakes - always a bonus in my book.
Toilet Facilities are a little outdated, but very clean.
The caravan pitches are surrounded by static caravans, with the touring pitches in the centre. There were only a couple of touring caravans although it was the first weekend of the school holidays, so space was at a premium. The only down side (for me) was because of the extra space , children from the static caravans were playing games -which is fine, but still chose to play right next to our caravan, instead of using the other space around available.
Saying that, there is a children's play area which would be good for younger children, and plenty of ducks and geese and some guinea pigs.
The location is beautiful and the surrounding villages are very pretty.
We would definitely go again.

We stayed here early in March, with some sun and no rain.
A very friendly camping ground, the owner has created a very relaxing, friendly environment to camp in.
Can be a little hard to find, we had to stop and ask for directions a few times, but the upside is that you are off the beaten track.
Very close to excellent pub 5-10 min walk.
Facilities older but fine.
Would stay again.
Very recommended.
