Visited for the weekend arriving Friday evening, very impressed on arrival by location, What a very pretty part of the world. The lady who booked us in was very nice, and the weather was fantastic, What more do you need other than your first beer of course.
Pitches nice and flat lots of space for us and the dogs x 2 (lots of doggie walks) children absolutely loved it can not wait to go back. Fantastic meal in the pub on friday night and Sunday lunch not cheap but well worth a visit. Only a 5 min walk, and they allow dogs.
Club over the road was so inexpensive for drinks I thought the barman had made a mistake, but he assured me that he hadn't we were also welcomed in with the dogs.
Didn't see much duck mess anyway you are in the country what do you expect! toilets and facility's very clean the shop was very well stocked and had lots of nice pocket money things to buy, as well as all the essentials.
Everybody on site was really friendly and chatty kids climbed trees played pooh sticks etc nice play area for younger ones.
Also we were allowed to stay all day on Sunday (because no one was coming on to our pitch) at no extra cost.
All in all a fantastic site in our opinion Five stars ***** We will definitely return.

Just got back from a two night stay at Island Meadow.
The camping area seems to be a very large island surrounded by a stream.
The outside ring is composed of static caravans then the inner ring is set aside for campers. There are about ten hard standings with electric, the hardstanding itself is formed by two strips of crushed ballast, this gets the job done.
The toilet facilities were immaculate, (just been painted) but limited.
The toilet cubicles are quite narrow, there are only two female and one male shower, and there is also a disabled one. When we stayed in the middle of March the heating wasn't on and it was a bit chilly in the shower.
There is also useful pot-washing area and a washer and tumble dryer.
The shop is quite small but covers the basics very well.
We don't have children so haven't much to say, but there didn't seem to be anything extra to offer children.
The owner/warden were Very friendly and helpful, and can't really fault them.
We were charged £40 for two nights with three adults and two dogs.
There is a pub nearby accessed by a 5min public footpath walk. But not much else after that!

Great site. Love the chickens and geese wandering around the site. Shop is excellent. Pet corner good. Nice part of the world.
Didn't visit the pub but it looked very twee.
I camped by the river bend and it was gorgeous but beware that if you wake up during the night you will hear the water and want to go to the loo!
Nice hot showers and sinks.
Improvements would be a touch of paint to the damp spots by the showers and a cobweb dust in the bathroom generally. Could also do with another wash-up sink.

The pros to start with:-
1) The location is great - only a short drive to Stratford.
2) It's a very picturesque site, lots of greenery and trees for the children to climb. The river runs alongside it.
3) The owner is very friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome.
4) The shop is well stocked and open until 8pm at night.
The cons:-
1) The facilities are pretty woeful. They're very dated, but at least they were clean. There just isn't enough though! One washing up sink and two ladies showers is totally inadequate for a site this size.
2) There are no hooks in one of the ladies' shower cubicles and only one in the other, so nowhere to hang your towel!
3) There are quite a few static caravans and I did wonder if this might be to blame for the lack of atmosphere. There were hardly any friendly nods or 'good mornings' to be had.
Overall this was an adequate site that would be ok for a weekend. We stayed for five nights and had had more than enough by the end. It could be a real gem, if only some money was spent on it/some thought given to what campers really need.

The site is in a lovely location with the local village a short walk away through some fields. The lady owner was very friendly and helpful, and the little shop was well stocked for such a small site.
The toilet and shower block was always very clean but there were only two female showers and one male shower which my husband found to be a bit of pain when he had to queue for a shower. There was only one washing up sink which caused much chaos as there was always a queue regard. The room was also very cramped but the water was lovely and hot.
Stratford is only a fifteen minute drive away and Mary Arden's house and farm only a five minute drive. The site has a little children's playground which my 22 month old loved and lots of ducks running around which our little terrier loved. The only downside is lots of duck poo everywhere.

This was our 3rd stopover on our tour. After spending two short stays at ultra-clean, very organised, very top-class sites - it was refreshing to get back to a 'camping atmosphere'.
Clean toilet facilities, plenty of hot water (having to constantly hold taps down to obtain the hot water was a nuisance - they need to adjust the time-controls) but no real problems.
Made to feel welcome, given a choice of pitches around the tent area, we were quite happy there.
Convenient spot in pretty countryside with easy access to the main roads.
If we decide to visit the area again, would gladly return to this site.

This is a beautiful site- surrounded by mature trees, a lovely clear river, very peaceful. We pitched at the back of the house- I think that this was the nicest part- only downside was that it was a bit of an adventure walking to the toilet block in the dark while dodging goose & duck poo.
We all loved the geese, ducks & chickens roaming about though- especially the 2 (very vocal) ducklings with their adoptive mum (a chicken!). The owner's dog- Murphy- was a real character too- always happy to join the kids in paddling & splashing about in the river.
The facilities were basic, but cleaned regularly & the (free) showers were lovely & hot. A great bonus for us was the washing machine & tumble dryer.
All in all- a 1st rate site- perfect for visiting Stratford & the Cotswolds. We've lots more to see so will definitely be back

We have just returned from a weeks camping at Island Meadow camp site. Me my husband, sister brother in law and 3 kids and we loved it. We just booked it by seeing the name on the net but what a brilliant choice we made.
The site is set in a beautiful area and Katharine the lady who runs the site is lovely and amazing as she works so hard and is always cheerful. She was very helpful and nothing was too much bother.
Seeing all the animals everyday was a wonderful experience, especially as she had 3 week old and a 1 week old ducklings which were adorable.
I know other people have commented that the toilets and shower block needed updating but they were always clean and we had no problems with them. We are already deciding when to book for next year and cannot recommend the site highly enough. Anne and Steve from Wiltshire.

We have just spent our 4th visit to Island Meadow - but the first time with a 7 year old in tow.
The owners are friendly and helpful. The on site shop sells lots of lovely cakes.
The kids (and me) loved the resident guinea pigs, rabbits and ducks.
There is a river running beside the site and it's very rural. The edge of the site is surrounded by permanent holiday homes.
It is approx. 7 miles from Stratford Upon Avon and a couple of miles from Henley in Arden and Mary Arden's house.
The only downside for me is still the toilet / shower facilities. They are clean, but definitely need updating.
I haven't used the showers, as every time we visit, we find that some people who use them, leave mud / grass etc on the floors and don't clean up after themselves. This is no fault of the campsite owners as they provide mops and a cleaning bucket.
It is a nice campsite, but we probably won't visit again, as their are nicer sites out there. This is just personal choice however.

Lovely peaceful site with a really friendly and helpful owner. We had 2 pitches with 2 large tents plus a small one on and had plenty of space for the kids to run around. Toilets were clean if a little dated. The free hairdryer was very welcome.
A lovely area with lots of walks. Stratford only a short drive away. Would recommend this site. We certainly plan to visit again
