The holiday park itself ws lovely, with all the facilities you need for a family holiday. You know that when you book a holiday in August it is going to be crowded. And this was the case with Wild Duck.

We did not really enjoy our stay here. We like the open space of camping, and on this site we were crammed in to a very tight space. The pitch was a good size, but far too close to our neighbours. Felt more like a refugee camp, than a camp site!

The good bits.

Staff, from the camp site warden to the cleaner, they were all helpful and very friendly.

Swimming pools, crowded, but very nice.

Electric hook up, worked perfectly for our 3 night stay.

Showers, plenty of hot water.

Onsite children's entertainers. We loved Marco and AJ.

Bad bits.

Drinking water. Quite a hike from our pitch. Why only the one place to get water?

Insects. Loads of them, due to the standing water behind our unit in the forested area.

Pitch. So close to our neighbours, felt like sardines.

Facilities block. Despite the cleaners best efforts, it ran out of toilet paper every night.

Washing up facilities. Only 3 sinks with over 100 units on site, many of which were tents, like us, who need to use these facilities.

Over crowding. More than just it was August, so it was busy, there were many units with in excess of 8 people staying in them. Tents with pup tents, even 2 caravans on one pitch, and people staying in awnings. This meant that the washing, toilet facilities struggled to cope.

We will not return. I could only recommend this, if you have young children, and can stay outside teh school holiday period.

We're fairly seasoned campers and were very much looking forward to a 2 week holiday at Wild Duck, but were very disappointed.

The good points were that the pitch size was fantastic (we'd booked the 'oversized'pitch) - we had plenty of room for an 8 berth trailer tent and a family shelter and parking our car on pitch with room to spare!

The staff were also very friendly and welcoming. (Especially the security man on the front gate!)

Unfortunately, for us that's where it ends. The shower/toilet block was disgusting! The sanitary bins in the ladies were left overflowing for several days leaving some of the cubicles unfit for use at all. Every visit involved a quick inspection to ensure there was nothing too untoward lurking in the cubicle and that there was actually toilet paper available. Then there was a similar inspection at the wash basins - most of the soap dispensers were empty a lot of the time!

The cleaning of the block was not up to standard at all. The same mop and bucket being used for the entire block is not standard practice - my understanding is that a separate mop and bucket should be used for the toilet cubicles. The water didn't look like it was being changed very often either!

With 4 young children I had to make many cringy trips to the block and only saw a broom being used on day 11 of my stay.

Hot water in the showers was no problem at all. The cable ties on the shower pipes sticking out and poking into you whilst showering were though!

The park was okay and our children enjoyed playing there. However, there were some issues with unruly teens terrorising them so I wouldn't advise letting them go on their own!

We only used the indoor pool which we all enjoyed. It was clean and there were small lockers available to put your belongings in or you could just leave it all on one of the sun loungers by the pool. The cafe/bar overlooked the pool. The outdoor pool did look great but we just didn't get a chance to make use of it.

The free entertainment for the children was pretty poor. We took ours to the 'circus skills' morning but it didn't keep our children's attention as there wasn't much to it at all.

There was a security van doing a patrol throughout the evening during the second week of our stay, after complaints about very noisy groups of people sitting outside the toilet block or in the park (right by the block) shouting and swearing enough to waken children - this was happening as late as 2am! We suspect that the culprits hid when they heard the van approaching because the disturbances would always restart within minutes of the security van leaving again. This made it a very intimidating place to go to after dark. I've never experienced that before on any campsite I've stayed at.

The location of the site itself was good in terms of getting to other attractions - everything seemed to be within a fairly short distance (half hours drive according to the sat nav!). This was invaluable to us as we really didn't want to stay on site at all.

We visited Hemsby beach a few times as it's a very sandy beach, whereas Great Yarmouth was a bit more pebbly/sandy! We enjoyed using both though.

The Sealife Centre at GY seafront is great for a visit.

Africa Alive was a fantastic day out! As well as the usual animals you'd expect to see, there was a falconry display and also a Zulu Tribal singing/dancing display - the latter was phenomenal!

BeWilderwood was within easy driving distance. The older children thoroughly enjoyed it but there was limited equipment for our 2 year old there. He loved the toddler friendly zip lines though!

There are plenty of boat hire companies along the Broads - we had a lovely day chugging along the river. It didn't work out too expensive when you work it out per person.

We did have one very rainy morning and found a soft play place to take the children to. It filled up pretty quickly on a wet morning so I'd say get there early.

With our welcome pack there was a booklet that gave some money off vouchers for some attractions.

I would recommend the area but not this campsite I'm afraid. It's not what I'd expect a family campsite to be. We decided to leave a day early because of a terrible weather forecast the day we were meant to leave. None of us were sorry to go though!

3rd visit to this site and we still really enjoy our breaks there.

Reception staff and site wardens are very friendly and helpful.

Playground area is ideal for our children, all above the age of 5.

Its a small site so the kids are never too far away.

Food on site is great and the entertainment is good too.

Indoor pool is warm & clean, outdoor pool is a little cooler, changing rooms and showers on poolside are clean so no complaints there. Both pools have lifeguards on site which is reassuring and they keep all in check if rules are broken.

The site shop could do with a little more stock, however there is a local supermarket only a 10 min drive away.

The shower & toilet block could do with a little updating but they are clean and checked by staff on a regular basis.

All in all a great time had by our 3 families.

We visited Wild Duck with an 8 year old and 2 two very large dogs and we had a fantastic time.

The site is smaller than some of the Haven sites that are around the country with all the facilities that you could ask for.

When we arrived we were given our choice of pitch from what was available as my husband and I have health problems we wanted near the showers and toilets. The pitch given to us was near everything a short walk from the main complex.

All the staff were fantastic especially the site Security who went beyond their job description to help us when we needed it. We were looking for somewhere to take the dogs off site to exercise them and asked the Security Guard at the gate who not only gave us directions but went and printed off local walks and areas to exercise them off site.

The toilets and showers were spotless and had lashings of hot water.

The area is served by a local bus that takes you from just outside the park to the surrounding towns of Great Yarmouth and Norwich.

The area around the site has many attractions with beaches, gardens, markets and theme parks within minutes of the site. The Chip Shop in Belton does a mean fish supper and the prices are really reasonable as well.

We enjoyed this holiday so much that we booked again for next year before we left.

Just back from a 4 night midweek break courtesy of The Sun holiday vouchers. Myself and partner plus 3 teens arrived after a 3 hour hot and sticky drive due to the heat wave. We had to wait for our caravan but that was no problem at all, the kids went and cooled off in the outdoor pool and OH relaxed in comfy chairs on the sun drenched patio of the restaurant. My brother and family arrived and before long we were all unpacking in our respective caravans. Ours was a basic 3 bedroom but a perfectly adequate base, all statics are located in crescents and among trees, the touring park seemed spacious too with lots of nooks and crannies to pitch in.

The staff were pleasant and helpful, the pools are very well staffed with life guards and the restaurant staff are friendly and efficient. We did venture into the live lounge on 2 occasions, I even have the pictures to prove I did the agadoo. The entertainers enthusiasm can not be faulted but the entertainment needs updating, very 50s style good morning campers and lacks any sophistication. Their disco 'mash up' to get the evening going was a mix of Dr Hook, Dolly Parton and Glen Campbell (I kid you not!)

The site has a lovely laid back, clean and open feel to it. Obviously you will pay a premium for buying groceries etc on site but there is a Tesco direct in Belton and a Fish & Chip shop if you turn right out of the site (met people who said the on site Fish & Chips weren't too good and frozen)

We visited Gorleston Beach 4. 8 miles away and Waveney River Centre to hire one canoe and launch one of our own(also had a fantastic campsite and the toilets were exceptional). We also went to Yarmouth but even in a heatwave at the beginning of the Summer Holiday it seemed like a ghost town, the fair was closed and many shops were boarded up.

We have had a fantastic week, partly due to the weather and partly because the site was excellent. I would recommend it.

We spent 4 nights at this campsite and took our 15 months old and just under 3 year old daughters with us. We were extremely nervous about taking 2 under 3s on their first ever camping trip, but we loved every second of it and we will return one day.

The site is very clean and modern, especially the bars and entertainment areas. We only discovered the outdoor pool on our last day, this has been refurbished and looks brand new.

The staff were pleasant and helpful and the children's entertainers were great.

The bars are well stocked with a variety of different drinks. The restaurant was a little bit expensive for the size of the meals but was ok.

The pitches for tents had a choice of open areas or tree coverage, the open areas looked a little packed in, but we had a pitch within a small wooded copse and it was private enough.

We never had to queue for toilets/showers or the washing up area, and everything was kept to a clean enough standard.

There were a few late night revellers from the 'live lounge', but this was not unexpected, and didn't cause any problems.

The site is reached through a fairly new housing estate which felt odd, and its only a short drive to Yarmouth and Gorleston.

Yarmouth felt like a typical tacky seaside resort, with all the lights and glitz, but we only spent one day day at the beach and we opted for Gorleston which has a huge clean sandy beach.

We thoroughly recommend this site and it will not be long before we go back!

Great site. Pitches are large, we have a folding camper six meters by five meters with awning, and there was plenty of room for car and barbecue. There are TV and electric hook up. Toilets are spotless and plenty of hot water and showers my wife and I never had to queue. The indoor pool is excellent with life guards and a seating area around the pool. The bar and restaurant facilities are very good. The entertainment was good for the kids and nightly cash bingo. Bus stop outside. All faculties closer to pitch site. Overall very well priced Excellent

Stayed 3 nights over weekend with wife and two young girls of 4 and 2, easy check in, met by warden who was very helpful and gave us choice of pitches to choose from, picked a nice secluded pitch in corner on our own surrounded by trees absolutely fab as had wildlife all around us.

The shower block was great, constantly clean and being cleaned, cleaner there all morning keeping it tidy during busy period which there never really was.

Parks for the kids were great, there is two largish parks and one small one outside bar. Entertainment complex was great and newly refurbed outside which was beautiful. Swimming pool was basic but still great and clean never too busy. All the staff were friendly and polite and my two girls absolutely loved mark from the entertainment team.

This park is fantastic if you want a great well kept campsite but also want stuff for kids to do and facilities on site( you never have to leave the site if you don't need to). But is close enough to great Yarmouth for all the touristy things and large supermarkets.

All in all great pitches, great staff, great shower block, great facilities, great value for money, great everything a definite recommendation.

As in the previous post can't fault this site, well laid out among the trees which gave a bit of shade but didn't block the sun out. From arriving to pitching up the level of service was fantastic, the touring warden was very helpful and eager to please.

Toilet facilities were very clean, and kept clean every day (twice) they even had plugs in the sinks!

Entertainment facilities were very well laid out and landscaped, with the usual shop and chippie, and the sports facilities were just as impressive.

A short walk took you to a village shop and chippie and the bus stop was literally at the site entrance.

Can't recommend this site too much and will definitely be going again despite the 51/2 hour trip from Sunderland.

Quite simply one big problem straight away with this is that I am not able to mark this site with anymore than 10 out of 10.

Tent (electric pitch) with 2 kids 9 & 8.

This is a wonderful holiday park, please don't believe the bad reviews as most of them are just complainers and wingers regarding admin, bookings and prices.

From the moment we arrived (after a 5 and a half drive from Preston) we were greeted with a very helpful and friendly reception staff who gave the impression they were really pleased to see us, the welcome pack gave you all the information you would need.

We were directed to the touring site where we were met by another very friendly member of the team who directed us to an available pitch, we have a 10 man tent with a porch and still had enough room for the trailer, windbreaks etc.

The site itself was beautifully presented with very nice landscaping, loads of trees, flat level grass pitches on a sandy base. We had very dry weather so the ground was very hard.

The toilet block was immaculate with 2 full time cleaners (Neville & George) always on hand especially in the mornings and early evenings when they got busy. Showers don't stay on long enough as usual but very easily fixed with a plastic tie wrap.

Two very nice swimming pools one in and one out. We spent all week in the outside pool being very lucky with the weather, again very friendly staff.

We are not really ones for the bars but we went in a coupe of times, prices are a bit steep but no steeper than town on a weekend.

Facilities for the kids again were top class with a couple of parks, one in the woods which they loved and the entertainment staff were tireless.

Overall this is a Haven Site, you know what you are gonna get before you book however with this one you don't, 'you get that little bit more'! Great site, nice staff and a wonderful holiday.

'Rabbits Ducks & Children have right of way on this site' this is one of the signs on the site which says everything about the sentiment of the place. We had squirrels, rabbits, ducks, pigeons outside ore tent. Very nice.

We will be going back again despite the 285 miles.

Well done Haven.
