This was our fourth visit to Wild Duck, but the first of 2011 so we were looking forward to the improvements that you expect from one season to the next. What a massive disappointment!
This campsite has gone seriously downhill and, I suspect, is just really concentrating on selling static caravans rather than providing a decent holiday to campers.
We were disappointed to find that the small area by the oasis bar that had previously housed a bouncy slide, trampolines etc had been replaced by. Gravel and a small wooden train.
The evening entertainment was poor and the daytime entertainment didn't always happen - we waited 30 minutes for a family funday to begin and despite asking reception several times no one ever turned up!
The swimming pool has had the separate changing rooms made into one larger room but with nowhere near enough cubicles. This meant that due to it being unisex you had to queue to get changed to go in. Then again to go out.
We had gone with friends who have also used the site with us before and we all agreed that we wouldn't stay there again. We paid an extortionate amount of money to stay for 3 nights, £160, and it just wasn't worth it as you kind of feel that the touring site is an area they don't value.
The shower rooms are clean but need updating and there aren't enough sinks to wash up in. Our children were bored and our eldest boy who enjoys the sports activities was disappointed as some were cancelled or not properly organised.
We will be looking for another site in the area but won't be returning. Haven sort it out, it used to be brilliant!

Having visited the Wild Duck many times as a child I was a little apprehensive to be returning to it as a Haven site. However, myself, my husband and our 2 year old daughter were really impressed with all aspects of our holiday.
Having had a very wet week in Cornwall the previous summer and bearing in mind we were camping in late April, facilities were very important to us. The indoor pool was brilliant - every site that wants a pool should think 'indoors' in the UK! Our daughter had a wonderful time splashing around. The entertainment area was well organised and the shower facilities were perfectly adequate.
Norfolk is such a lovely place to camp. We got a brilliant deal on the holiday price and will certainly be returning in the future.

If it wasn't for the fact I only paid £13 for a weekend I'd say rubbish. The site is badly kept and makes you feel like an after thought. Electric hook up available. Showers and toilets are relatively clean. The showers have a push button that needs to be reset every 10 secs or so to keep the water going.
There is a play area on site but is looking somewhat worn out. There were a lot of mushrooms and red spotty toadstools all around which could be a worry for those of you with a young family.
As it is a Haven site you do get entertainment passes - which we never used. There is an on site shop and some amusements as well as a pool. As it was late in the season the inflatable slide wasn't inflated and the ride wasn't on.
We had some rain and there were huge puddles all over the site (some under peoples caravans). The whole place had a soggy and unkempt feel about it.
Considering they're charging as much as £54 per night this is a poor site.
Yes I will use this site again but only with the Sun £1 vouchers (hook up extra)

This camp site is in a lovely setting among trees which adds to the illusion of sleeping in the back of beyond. It had been very dry prior to our arrival so the pitch was a little hard and dusty.
As on a Haven park has loads of facilities and more with excellent security and helpful staff. Washroom, shower block and loos clean and to a high standard with the usual good appointed pot wash etc.
Ideal location for the beaches of East Norfolk and the Broads with good local walks from the site. It appears to be part of a modern housing estate as you drive up to the entrance but once inside you enter a whole new world.

Just come back from a weekend break at Wild Duck and have had a great time. Reception staff were very helpful and we were met by a touring warden who showed to our pitch (very helpful when you arrive late in the evening).
The pitch was a little bit muddy but we expected this as it is the end of the season and grass pitch, nothing that a doormat couldn't cope with. Pitches are in a woodland area under trees so TV reception not great.
The washrooms, water, waste, rubbish points etc were all clean and tidy. The clubhouse offered good evening entertainment and the swimming pool was nice and warm and safe for toddlers (we took our 18mth in there and she loved it).
There is a small separate bar with live TV you can have a drink or just a coffe in here. We found the meals to be of average price and the breakfast a bargin 5 pieces for £2.95. Nearest Tesco Express is about 5 miles away and a Tesco Superstore in Gy Yarmouth about 10 miles.
The site does have a spar shop but this is pricey! We will def be going back to this site.

Cannot praise this site enough. Really friendly staff and the toilet blocks etc were really clean. The warden takes you to your pitch and he didn't mind when we moved.
We had an extra large electric pitch which was tucked away in a corner and we had loads of space. The only downfall we could mention is that you really had to clear your pitch of pine cones and that there isn't a lot of grass really dusty and if it rains its muddy but that you can cope with.
Amenities not far away. All in all its a really lovely park. I will visit again.

My husband and I holidayed here with our 2 children aged 4 and 2. This was our first family camping trip, so we didn't exactly know what to expect.
We were greeted in reception by a team of very friendly staff, who instructed us to drive up to the touring pitch where we were greeted by a man who showed us to our pitch - he gave us a couple to choose from.
The site is mainly in a wooded area and be warned the ground is exceptionally hard, you will need some good pegs on this site! he pitches were not clearly marked at all, and in places seemed a little over crowded
The toilet block was large and was cleaned regularly, but in my opinion was in need of updating - the site was very busy but you never had to wait for showers.
The animation team worked very hard, although we only tended to visit the show bar in the evening for a hour as this was not really our kind of thing, but the weather was not so good so it provided a little entertainment for all in the evening - our children did enjoy it however.
We used the pool on one occasion and we couldn't fault it and we ate in the on site restaurant, but found it to be over priced with a poor standard of food - the on-site chip van was far better. Having since stayed at other sites we realise that maybe this isn't the kind of site for us, but we did have a pleasant stay and a good time was had by all.
Great value for money at £65 for 5 nights

After a long journey we received a warm welcome at reception where the girl on the desk instructed us to make our way to the touring site where we were met by the touring warden who was very friendly. He showed us to our pitch which was literally 5mins from the main complex!
The toilet block was always being cleaned and the toilets were given a deep clean every day between 1pm and 2pm!
We had a beautiful Sunday Carvery in the bar which was great value for money at £7.95! The entertainments team was great, especially with the younger kids - they were always full of energy even at 11pm at night!
The security on site was great as well as we noticed there was always someone paroling even in the middle of the night!
Great Yarmouth is only a 10minute drive away with plenty for the whole family to see and do. We were impressed by the efficiency of the touring warden, when the family in the pitch next to us go flooded out, they were upgraded to a caravan for the last two nights of their holiday! All in all we would highly recommend this Park to others, Haven parks usually get bad reviews but this one doesn't! We are definitely returning again next year!

Excellent four nights away in July for only £44!
We are a family of 5 with 3 children aged 10,6 and 3, and this was the first time we'd gone camping on our own.
Everything about this Haven site is excellent. We were greeted by a very helpful warden who offered us a choice of pitches, and remained happy after we changed our mind.
The site is about 7 miles from Great Yarmouth, and inland and within a small village. Whilst you don't get a seafront location, there is no passing trade, so the site has a quiet and relaxed atmosphere.
The camping area is amongst a lightly wooded area and we camped between the trees and had a very private area - there are no marked pitches as such.
The toilet block was very regularly cleaned, with staff there all the time in the morning, and the adjoining washing up facilities were clean and had constant hot water.
The site facilities were great with a very modern indoor pool. There is also a lovely outdoor pool. We ate twice in the Oasis bar, and this was very nice paying around £5 for a main meal, and similar to Wetherspoons etc
Our children went to the organised activities on one morning and this was well run. All the staff we met were helpful and happy - it's probably a nice site to work at. The children's play area next to the campsite is great.
Two things that are better than the Haven website currently says. The womens toilet block DOES have electric sockets for hairdryers, and whilst there is no ice pack exchange advertised, when we enquired we were told to take them to The Oasis bar and they were very happy to freeze them for us.
If there is any downside it's that the site was very dusty. The ground contains a lot of sand and it hadn't rained for a few weeks when we arrived, but it didn't cause any problems.
Overall excellent.

Having previously visited the site (in a Static) before we knew roughly what to expect in the way of amenities/standards etc. First visit as a tourer. Having checked in and then directed to the tourer field we were greeted by a very cheerful and smiling warden(very nice to see after a 6 hour drive!). Given this is now kids hols and very busy (also arriving about 3pm)we were still given the choice of two pitches with EHU(chose by the trees). Ground may seem sandy but is very rocky underneath so take a good, strong mallet and a 'footprint' if in a tent. More open areas seemed to have the problem of fircones. Site is beautiful and clean. Toilet/shower block was always clean except maybe an odd one just before cleaning. Good play area for kids and activities to keep them occupied during the day. Good food and customer service in bars. Prices are reasonable. Nightime entertainment is typically 'cheesy' holiday stuff with the odd exception (Chinese circus). Would definitely visit again.
