This site really is a hidden gem. We looked at a number of sites around the Charmouth area and took a bit of a gamble on this one, but so glad we did.

Site is relatively small and is probably equal statics to tourers. It was busy when we went but the pitches are a nice size and reasonable room.

There are not too many facilities on site - just a shop, but a pizza van and fish and chip van visited once a week. Toilets were clean and acceptable.

The draw for this site really is the location. Only about 5 mins walk to Charmouth beach where there is a café and a couple of shops. Can you walk from there along the beach to Lyme Regis - very pleasant - just watch the tide! The site is also only 5 mins walk from Charmouth village where there a number of pubs, takeaways and shops.

This really is one of my favourite sites and I will return at some stage.

Unfortunately the weather was awful when we stayed. Our van was on a hard standing so unaffected. Some of the grass areas were pretty water logged. Few of the pitches are totally level but I guess this is to help drainage as the site is at the bottom of a valley next to a river. Distance to sea just minutes.

Distance to coast path just minutes. There is a Fish & Chip van twice a week and a Wood Fired Pizza van on Thursday. First site I have used where toilet block is kept locked, £5. 00 deposit for key.

Toilet block had all facilities you want and water temp in showers is adjustable. When site is busy with tents and campers there could be some queuing.

There is an hourly coastal bus service between Axeminster and Poole, if you need it. Charmouth has several pubs, a cafe and a small supermarket. If using bus NOTE the timetable tells you to wait at same Lyme Regis stop going or coming, INCORRECT, swap sides of street as you would expect.

My wife felt the paperwork you are given concentrated too much on DON'T do this and that, rather than hope you enjoy yourself.

This was our first visit to this site and luckily we had booked a hard standing as there had been a lot of rain the previous week and the grass pitches were very wet and muddy. Several caravans and motorhomes had to be towed off pitch by tractor.

There is a small shop in reception and a Fish and Chip van visits the site Sunday and Friday. Can recommend this.

Toilets and showers kept very clean and locked to prevent people wandering through site using them. Given two keys at reception £5 deposit. Very good laundry room and separate washing up area.

Amazing location with sea views and only 5 minute walk to beach where is a small shop and café which we did not use but it looked ok. There is a dog restriction on the main beach until October but there are many other areas of beach and cliffs to exercise them.

There is an hourly bus service, 5 minute walk away, to Lyme Regis and Bridport but avoid 'schools out' time as the buses get very crowded.

There are a few shops in the village to cater for most needs and a market on Mondays till end September.

My only concern was the lack of security on the site as people from Manor Farm site in the village and other people were using the site up till late at night as shortcut to and from beach although signs at entrance prohibited this.

Overall a very nice site in lovely location. Hopefully we will visit again.

Once again great campsite friendly staff, spotless toilets plenty of hot water. Easy access to beach, short walk into village. Pub chippy and shops.

Bus stop at end of road. They provide hard standing and grass pitches, enough room for caravan, awning and a car, and hookups.

Have just returned from this lovely and well kept site. Friendly staff and spotless amenities, plenty of hot water and well stocked shop. Hardstanding on pebbles meant that there was no chance of mud or grass being transferred into the motorhome.

Access to the beach is via a pleasant short walk through the site and along the river. Would definitely stay there again. Charmouth has a few small shops. We ate in the Royal Oak and can recommend their food and well kept local beers.

Lyme Regis and Bridport are only a short distance away.

We took our touring caravan for 5 nights this month. The booking was very straightforward and the staff were very friendly and helpful. This was the same when we arrived. Booking in was quick and friendly. Our pitch was exceptionally wide and in a lovely location.

The shop was very well stocked.

The toilets were very clean and in excellent condition. We were impressed with the excellent showers, better than home my husband said.

We had a very enjoyable time visiting Lyme Regis and Weymouth. Fantastic fish and chips in Charmouth, only a few minutes walk from the site.

We would definitely return to this site.

What an amazing site, we booked for the weekend but stayed a week, Charmouth it self hasn't got a lot of shops but the chippy is lovely and well worth the short walk from the site for chippy tea.

The site is lovely so clean, well kept and friendly and to be on the beach in minuets is doggy heaven.

Although it rained a lot during the nights whilst there we were on a grass pitch and the drainage is very good, there are also gravel pitches if preferred but the grass was lovely for the sunny days and the pitches are large plenty of room for the dogs sunbathing.

All in all 100% recommend in fact got home yesterday and am on here to book again.

This is a lovely camp site, kept very clean and tidy. We've just got back from a glorious sunny week spent there. It's ideally situated to explore the area, we visited Weymouth, Portland Bill, West Bay & beautiful Lyme Regis. The beach is literally a five minute walk at the edge of the camp site. There are two pubs in the village & a fish and chip shop.

Could not fault the place apart from one thing, the toilet doors are on a spring so they close themselves, unfortunately we were right beside just behind a small hedge. The 'SLAM' of the gents was ridiculous, I can't begin to put across on here how loud it was ! We could stand it during the day, but were woken every single morning before 7 AM. We gave feed back about it but whether anything will be done I don't know as other guests said they'd complained before and it was still the same. When leaving we asked if we return could we request a pitch further away from toilets, we were told couldn't guarantee this so we probably won't be returning.

Arrived in brilliant sunshine which was a good start.

However, at reception paid £5 deposit for toilet keys, (which didn't realise we had to do). I had paid for the pitch 2 weeks before arriving as you can't pay by card which I think is very strange when you can pay by card over the phone so they have the facility to do it, but only cash is taken on arrival and in the shop.

Was given a pitch number and then was told we wouldn't fit on that one when she saw we had a twin axle so was given another. The lady gave a site plan, pointed out how to get to the pitch and off we went. This is the first site we have never been taken to our pitch. We followed directions and went past all the statics, how very depressing they were to look at. We eventually found our pitch, the numbers are on tiny arrows at the back of the pitch only to realise there wasn't anyway we were going to fit on that pitch either although we gave it a go, our hitch was still on the roadway. Back I went to reception leaving OH there chatting to a very friendly couple who had offered to make us a cuppa. I was then assigned another pitch so here's hoping third time lucky, then was told I need your toilet keys back as they have the pitch number on. Back I went with the new pitch number, and then back to reception with the keys, then finally we found our pitch. This wasn't that flat and there was a large mound taking up some of it too. We eventually sited the van and started unpacking. Very disappointingly behind us was the most beautiful view, but we were facing the statics, no hedging or anything between them and the tourers and no hedges between pitches either and quite tightly packed together.

The toilets were always clean but could do with updating. There are only 3 showers in each block so may have to queue at peak times. This doesn't bother me as usually in the shower by 6. 30am. The water in them was very hot, and one morning someone else was in a shower and I found it was very hot or cold couldn't get a happy medium. I like a hot shower but it was even hot by my standards. The one bug bare was the key, remembering to take it with you.

The one thing I found very strange was that the two hair dryers, which are free, were actually outside the toilet block. I had my shower, and the first night was quite chilly, and then you have to stand outside drying your hair in the cold, and people walking past watching you. As OH said, it's mains power so they must get damp and there were spiders down the side of them. The last evening we had torrential rain and where you had to stand was very wet.

There is a washing up room with about 5 sinks in but it's so narrow, if people are washing up its hard to get past them to get to the end sinks. There was no draining boards either, so there was a draining rack but obviously all the side just gets soaking wet as it drains.

Charmouth is very nice and it was a few minutes walk along the grass to the beach which was lovely. The village has the basics as said in other reviews, but be aware the post office is the only place to get cash out so make sure you have some, as a lot of the shops don't take cards.

Lyme Regis was beautiful, but the road going into the town is very very narrow, but worth it when you walk along the front. They were filming for a comedy show on camping when we were there so could be famous!

To conclude. The site isn't in my top ten and wouldn't say I'd rush back, but all the same wouldn't say I'd never go again. It's obviously very popular as most people we spoke to go there every year some for 3 weeks at a time. I can't moan at the price we paid for the week either, but we have just been to better sites for not much more money and may have been spoilt. We paid for Wifi through Caravan Connect and had no end of trouble. Lucky if we got a few hours on the Internet

I can't add anymore to what has previously been said about this site - it's great. Normally we use our touring caravan but as we were with our daughter and family we opted for a static this time. I was concerned about the quality of the caravans as we were taking our dog but found the caravan to be excellent and the fact that bed linen with the beds made up was included in the price was a bonus.

The shop is well stocked as is the location of the site in Charmouth near all the facilities.

Love this part of the country and will definitely stay here again (static or tourer).
