Absolutely rubbish. I was shocked when I arrived. They said choose your own pitch between number x and number x. I thought oooh this is great we can choose where we want! well what was the point??? the pitches were absolutely rubbish! I have never experienced a site like this. You couldn't even reverse your caravan on the pitches because there were cars parked on the one track little road that the pitches were on.
A car park is what this site reminded me of! I was fuming having paid all that money for a car park space! all the other haven sites we have been on are great and full of grass with grass pitches which are perfect for kids and toddlers. This site was just awful! they are very lucky I didn't demand my money back and leave site with immediate effect.
I will never ever ever ever never! go to this site ever again. ! absolute rubbish.

The site is very close and easy to find from the M55 but far enough away that noise isn't an issue. On arrival I was directed to the touring pitches, where I was then met by the touring warden. I was able to choose any super pitch. I had wanted a Euro pitch but at my time of booking (6 months earlier) they were all booked. The super pitches are all in the shadows of over grown trees and you are very close to your neighbour, both of these combined gave a slightly claustrophobic feel. Most of these pitches I felt were really tight and with a caravan of over 7 metres I was glad of my mover to guide me in. I managed to get a pitch at the bottom so it was maybe slightly not as overpowering to the others. The pitches had a concrete base for the caravan, then stones where your awning would go. In addition to the number of the pitch on the road there is a 12' wooden bollard tight to the concrete base which many fellow caravanners caught their caravan on, so beware. All pitches are fully serviced which is a real added bonus.
The toilet block is very modern and was always maintained to a high standard whenever I visited. At night time there wasn't any issue with noise apart from a little sound from the entertainment complex but that pretty much stopped when it closed.
There are plenty of activities to do on the site. I pre-booked some of the very reasonably priced activities passes and my kids were able to take part in archery, the hamster ball in the pool and the aqua jets. We also played mini golf and there were plenty of others to try. There is an outdoor water slide/splash zone but you can't access it from the indoor pool. You have to wrap a towel around yourself and walk through the restaurant to get outside. I thought this was a bit crazy and my kids didn't use it because of this.
The on site shop had all the essentials that you need and there are also some large supermarkets a short drive away. I used the launderette which proved to be expensive, £6. 50 for a standard wash.
There is a bus that runs at the weekend that takes you from the site entrance into Blackpool. Midweek, if you walk to the main road you are able to catch other buses into Blackpool. There are many many attractions in Blackpool but for us the main reason for visiting was the pleasure beach. I used Tesco clubcard points to buy tickets a few weeks before going and they worked out great value. Plenty to keep everyone entertained.
This site was great value for money, because I booked in January I only paid £125 for 7 days, which for a fully service pitch was fantastic value. Aside from this I wouldn't return to this site, for me the pitches where too close and hemmed in with the trees. This is also only the second time I have visited a site with a bar and it's confirmed for me that it isn't the type of site for me. I much prefer smaller, less commercial sites but I thought I would give it a try anyway. I'm sure there are others that will thoroughly enjoy it.

We have just returned from Marton Mere after a 5 day break. Staff were friendly, and we were met by the tourer warden, who let us choose our pitch. Overall it was a good experience, the toilets were clean and only accessed with a security code, the pitches were pretty flat where we were on a Euro pitch, though some of the std. Electric pitches seemed to have a considerable slope to them. Its one of Havens smaller sites as far as facilities go, but had all the stuff you would normally need - we tried the pool which was clean and warm though basic, the shop had a good range of products.
Downsides. The food was made using good ingredients, and looked good but was just all a bit dried out, like it had been kept warm for 10 minutes somewhere. Large amounts of food on the carpets, and sat for 15 mins before having to ask for the table to be wiped.
Neighbours on any site are pot-luck, and we had a couple of nights of nuisance (An adult with 3 kids having bike races at 11. 30pm). This isnt Havens fault, but the Security on the touring site was slack - in fact I didn't see them once at any point.
Overall, I'd go again, its just the details that lack a little.

We stayed at Marton Mere for 4 nights during October half term and I have to say we were really impressed. With sites that cater for static caravans the touring section can tend to be a bit basic however that is not the case at Marton Mere. We were on one of the Euro pitches and it was excellent, ehu, water and waste on pitch and lovely new hard standing. The toilet and shower block also seemed fairly new and was excellent. We used the restaurant on site once and we had a nice meal, we didn't use the swimming pool facilities as instead we spent the day at the Sandcastle Swimming Complex in Blackpool which is excellent. We didn't use the car we just caught the bus which goes straight from the site into Blackpool which is great. For a visit to Blackpool with your tourer I would not hesitate to recommend Haven Marton Mere and we paid £25 for 4 nights by booking in advance ! so you can't grumble at that.

Just back from a 6 night stay in our Touring Caravan at Marton Mere, booked for an incredible £48 inclusive of Leisure Passes and access to all other amenities. We went with this site with a degree of trepidation due to the mixed reviews on TripAdvisor and other review sites, especially concerning security on the site. So, we were not really sure what to expect but decided to go anyway as at least there was a range of things to do in the evenings for our 2 boys aged 13 & 11, as opposed to other sites with no evening options.
When you arrive at the main gate of the site you are met by the security guard who is expecting you and has your pitch info waiting for you; no need to go to reception and 'book in'; you are directed straight to the touring area and notified of the available pitches. This was a good system.
Touring pitches are a little bit tight, we had what was classed as a 'super pitch', but to be honest it only just accommodated our van and awning, with a designated space at the front of the pitch for your car. The Europitches looked really nice and I suspect that they would have been the better pitch, but there were none available. The pitches are all definitely on a slope down towards the nature reserve (excellent by the way, well worth a visit to the swan feeding station). So we had to use our wheel blocks and we still felt that the van was listing a bit, not so much as to be troublesome, more of an irritation. The van is parked under trees so bear this in mind re bird doo doos etc. The van itself is on a concrete slab, if you can tuck your van right in to the left of the pitch you get about 1/3 of your awning on the concrete the other 2/3 rds on the (rather damp) grass - it made pegging the awning a bit of a challenge but we managed it - you will need to be creative if erecting an awning on some of the pitches though.
Superpitches all have water and electric at the pitch - we got an OK signal for the telly, it did have some interference at times I suspect due to the low trees and location of the pitches.
Toilets were always extremely clean and tidy, plenty of hot water etc. Showers are fine, they are of the push button kind, the button is a bit strange and our older son who has some problems with his joints did find them a bit tricky to push in, but the water was warm and plentiful. Our niggle with the toilet block was with the drainage system and the touring site warden (I'll come to that bit in a minute). Basically there is one main drain that runs all the way through the shower block, including the loos, for the water to drain away and there is no 'lip' between the shower area and the drying area in the cubicles, so the water just spills over into the area of the cubicle that you are meant to get dry in, not ideal. 3 or 4 hooks for clothes etc, but no stool or seat, so a bit of creativity again needed if you want to get dressed and dried in the cubicle - we did manage it but it was a wee bit of a scutter to be honest. I can understand why this set up suits the site (easy to clean the whole floor, no nasty corners for germs to breed in etc) but for the customer it is not ideal, it is so hard to get dry when you are standing in water, and I really don't like the dirty water from the shower next to you draining in to where you are trying to have a shower. I have to say though that the shower blocks and loos were otherwise spotless.
Tourer bit warden. Hmm, not so sure that she was a people person. She definitely was not a 'child' person I think. In the terms and conditions of the Haven touring pack it says something along the lines of 'it is requested that children under the age of 12 are accompanied to the toilet block by an adult' or words to that effect. Now our 2 are 11 (12 in a couple of months) and 13 (14 in a couple of months). Twice they got turned away from the toilet block by the tourer warden and told that they had to have an adult with them, the second time was after my husband had spoken to her and told her the ages of the kids (the first time was when they had gone down for shower), and the second time was when our youngest son was bursting for the loo, he was refused entry to the loos and turned away - he had to come back to the van in some discomfort and feeling a bit humiliated so that my husband could 'accompany' him to the loo. Now I know that kids will more than likely be the bane of the guardian of the loos life during the summer months, especially this summer - so many water pistols to fill! But come on! A bit of discretion. There were not a great number of kids on site, the weather was not water pistol weather, and surely if you see a young person going into the loo and you are suspicious about the length of time they are spending in there you can just stick your head in the toilet block door and ask if everything is ok? It is a shame as it is things like this that you remember about the site and they eclipse the good things.
Public transport to and from the site was superb, a bus that left for Blackpool centre every 1/2 hour ( a bit of a hike from the tourer section). Day tickets could be bought on the bus. Excellent value and made it easy to get in and out of Blackpool as parking in the city centre is expensive. We did a fantastic open top bus tour of the illuminations for £10 for the 4 of us - amazing value! The bus left the site at 7:30 every Tues, Wed, Thurs eve for a 2 hour excursion, it was brilliant.
The other really pleasant surprise for us was the quality of the food in the restaurant - excellent meals and really good value. We especially liked the breakfasts, £2. 75 I think for a 5 piece breakfast, the kids loved it.
Great play facilities, football pitch, swimming was good, (we gave the bingo and evening entertainment a miss - it looked ok though). Wee Spar shop on site selling all the essentials but a Morrisons, Asda etc a 5 minute drive away.
All in all (apart from the Guardian of the Loo) we were really, really pleasantly surprised by this site. Blackpool itself is, well, Blackpool. What you see is what you get. Totally recommend buying a 'Big Ticket', and the Tower, especially the Tower Circus, is excellent.

This was our first visit to this Haven site, bargain for £70 for 5 nights on one of their 'euro pitches' - full service pitch. We arrived and were directed to the tourer check-in, and told to choose our pitch from the 3 rows nearest to the toilet block.
We picked our pitch, opposite the toilet block and set up. The bollard had all the usual bits on it, water' EHU & TV point.
All the pitches appeared to be on a bit of a sideways slope, but nothing excessive.
There's only one toilet block, always immaculate and surprisingly never too busy, it's located near the euro pitches, so quite a trek for the ones pitched at the other end.
The swimming pool was fine, no slides indoor, which would have been nice as the 'bowl' slide was closed as it was out of season.
We used the bar once, typical Haven prices, we didn't visit the club at night.
Shop on site was well stocked for the essentials and not too overpriced, the bus to Black pool was popular and available from the site entrance.
Overall, a nice site with good touring facilities, we'd happily return.

1st time we stayed at Marton Mere, and on arrival the gentleman in the security hut was very welcoming and helpful.
Most pitches are under trees, which isn't the best for your awning. The park was very clean and tidy. The toilet and shower block was excellent and a credit to those who kept it this way. You have to use a security code to get in to these, but this was never a problem and it kept others in the static vans out.
There was a large well stocked shop, with fresh baked bread and snacks. The staff here were friendly too.
The club was well laid out with tiered seating so you could see your kids on the dance floor. The kids entertainment was good, we never stayed late enough to see the adult entertainment.
Great unisex changing area in swimming pool that meant it was easier dressing and sorting out all the kids. There was no seating area in the indoor pool though, you had to go back through the arcade and into the coffee shop to view through glass.
All round decent site. Our only gripe was the unorganised and unhelpful manner of the site warden and the reception staff when we tried to extend our stay on the last day. This was advertised as £5 to stay until 6pm on day of departure. Which is a very good idea, if they organised how to run this facility! They were not the friendliest of people and let the whole site down.

I booked here for a summer vacation with the kids ages 3 and 8.
On arrival I was met by a nice guy at the main gate who directed me towards the touring reception/booking point. On arrival at touring reception I was handed the info we needed and was directed to head for a pitch. We drove past the nice big service pitches towards the very crammed pitches amongst the trees. I eventually found one but they are tight. Cars are also parked in front of the vans on both sides which can make it more tricky reversing. Most of these pitches seem to be on a downwards slope hence we needed a levelling wheel ramp.
The site toilets/ showers are in good condition, élsan there is only one at bottom of site. Kids park close by, good for ages 5 and up smaller kids there is not much for them to play on.
Being a haven it was nice to be close to the entertainment facilities for a change, which are all good. Amusements, swimming pool, bar, spar shop and the evening entertainment.
During my trip I we were invited to the haven family fun day BBQ, with only 100 burgers on a first come first served basis and over within an hour it was pretty poor, but in reality it was only to get people near the static sales.
There is also a bus going to Blackpool we were about £10 for a family day return. We visited the beach, sealife, pleasure beach etc. All as much as you can expect, kids loved it so much which makes for an easy life.
All in all a good site and lives up to expectation for touring on a haven site.
I would go back but only with a super pitch.

After a negative experience with haven before I thought I would give them benefit of the doubt, and I was not disappointed with this site at all.
From the main entrance you are directed to where the touring site is and then checked in and told to follow the road around and basically find your own pitch excellent! the site is well kept tidy and free of litter with re-cycling point's.
Pitches have their own stop tap and waste water disposal so no lugging around the aqua roll, shower and toilet facilities etc spotless, the idea on my visit was no driving and at the entrance in the site is a bus stop and a day saver ticket will give you all day rides on the buses and tram's.
Night time entertainment was ok but found the beer expensive and flat but the fact that the touring park was next to the facilities block was a bonus and a plus side, but as usual shop expensive, all in all not disappointed at all with this site and will certainly go back again.
Can't forget Blackpool! the tower is superb the glass walk way is fantastic! and on ground level in the town their is plenty of shops and restaurants as you can imagine and their is 7 miles of sandy beech to play on for the big and little kids, so enjoy!

Took advice from reviews here and booked a europitch.
This was our first ever touring holiday and we chose this area and park as we have three teenagers. We visited during school term [we live in Ireland and schools finish earlier] so the facilities were not busy.
The club was typical Haven which is ok but there was a lot of mess by the time you could get a table [after 10pm] cleaning was not prompt or effective. The entertainment can also be a little repetitive so we only used it for 3 nights out of nine.
Toilet blocks were always clean except late at night, but that is not the fault of Haven. As dogs are allowed on the park there was some fouling but again Haven are not to blame for this although bins for this appeared scarce.
It is a typical Haven site and some noise is to be expected but this did not concern us.
The shop was well stocked and reasonably priced and a tesco is only a few minutes drive away.
Blackpool is Blackpool you know what you are getting when you go there.
Overall I would recommend this site.
