We last visited this site in October last year and my reviews were mixed. It looks like they have listened to us as a lot of improvements have been made to the touring areas.
The premier pitches have all been improved to provide a gravel area at the side of the concrete pitch for awnings, this was great because you can use this to park your car if you do not put an awning up so it made the area look much bigger and neater and safer for children on bikes. The electric pitches have all had the trees cut down so it looked open but in the summer months it will be great for getting the sun!
We used the clubhouse both nights and we couldn't believe how busy it was considering it is the start of the season. You have to get in for 7ish or you have no chance of a seat. They do the usual party dances which my girls love then the entertainment came on at 9.15, both nights were brilliant, we had a great time and the acts were top class. The site was quiet at night considering it was full. The pool was very warm and clean our kids loved it. This is still one of the best Haven sites out there and lets hope they don't get rid of the touring pitches as the rumours state that's what is happening?
The staff were friendly and the new wardens were great, much more approachable than the last ones. I would recommend this site to anyone looking for a good pool and club, its not the place to go for a quiet weekend as its very busy but great for the kids.

Just returned from weekend at this site we booked it for the illuminations so we paid peak prices, it was £52 for 2 nights which is more than we usually pay, however, it is classed as peak season for this site. We have been to this site several times and have always enjoyed it, it is one of Havens better sited for tourers, however, we were disappointed with the premier pitches, most of them were out of action due to no electricity so the decent pitches that were left had been reserved by other people by putting their bikes on the best pitches for their friends to arrive! This sort of behaviour is unfair and the site should allocate pitches to avoid selfish behaviour! The normal pitches looked bigger and some of them had been re concreted and were a lot dryer, our pitch was so muddy and nearly sank into the ground, they need to make the pitches wider and more hardstanding, we paid for a premier pitch and felt we should have gone on a normal pitch. The site is looking tired however it is the end of the season. On the plus points the clubhouse at night is really good for young kids and the pool is a decent size, the bars and restaurants are nice. The outdoor play area had a broken foot bridge and was dangerous, it had been cordoned off by tape and the kids didn't even notice it they were just playing on it as normal, this should be fixed urgently to avoid a nasty accident! We have stayed on lots of Haven sites and this is one of our favourite sites for tourers, but they do need to invest in more money for the pitches, its one of my gripes with this company, they treat us tourers as second class citizens and put signs everywhere asking you to trade in your tourer for a static! Who wants to go to the same place every weekend and pay thousands of pounds a year for the site fees??

This site is lovely - we had a fantastic 3nights here. When first arriving the security guards never told us where to go they were to busy on the phone and spent the whole 4 days on the phone so anyone could come in or out (not very good). We pitched up the tourer (and because it was 3pm we chose our own pitch next to the shower blocks and glad we did - it quickly became very busy and nearly all the pitches where occupied) reception staff are pleasant. The complex was everything you'd expect from a haven site - funstars - entertainment - expensive beer -and always SELL SELL SELL.
But if you don't want Rory and Bradley merchandise pushed at you every opportunity then don't come.
The entertainment was mainly the funstars doing shows which the kids love.
The showers were very clean and the water lovely and hot - A1.
The pitches are ok all on hard standing (a little close to next door) but you are close to the complex only a 5mins walk. The onsite shop seemed empty but then again it was the end of September and nearly the end of the season so they can be forgiven.
We are defo coming back next year its a great base for blackpool and seeing all the attractions - excellent holiday.

We stayed for three nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. The site is well maintained and the staff are very friendly and helpful. For an extra £8 we were allowed to remain on the pitch for the whole of the last day and use all the facilities. The shop was well stocked, the pool was clean and they have swimming lessons for the kids for £5 per hour session. We didn’t use the shower / toilet blocks so can’t speak for them. It was nice being able to see the Mere and Blackpool Tower from the site, even if Blackpool isn’t really your thing. The standard pitches are quite close together but are further away from the club and so are quieter in the evening so don’t dismiss them outright. The childrens’ shows are very professional, but they relentlessly try and flog you DVD’s so beware. At one point they called all the children to the front to ‘win a prize’. All the kids were then told to get a pound from their parents to buy a raffle ticket and sent back to their seats. A bit naughty really.
A huge Tesco is very close so don’t panic if you’ve forgotten anything.
Other minor gripes were:
Bins were overflowing on our last day;
Not enough lockers in swimming pool and some with broken locks;
Most facilities only accessible by running the gauntlet of the amusement arcade;
In the outdoor play area, an electricity cable came out of the ground, ran exposed across a footpath and back into the ground- a blatant trip hazard and quite a bizarre sight;
The Ranger Centre was disappointing.
However we look forward to going back, especially as there are some great deals if you book online.

Having visited several Haven sites in both their Statics and my own tourer, I have to say that this was by far the best of the bunch.
I personally don't like the town of Blackpool itself, so I was less than excited to be pleasing the familly with a 3 night stay there. In very short order I was forced to eat my words at what I found to be a top class site for tourers.
The site was immaculately clean throughout, with none of the tattiness and tiredness you often find at Haven sites. Mature tree growth and hedges all around the touring area helped to remove that feeling of camping in a caravan lot you often get, and the fauna atracted plenty of curious wildlife to the delight of the children. Waking up and stepping into the awning to find a pair of hungry Mallard ducks outside pestering for breakfast titbits was lovely!
One small criticism: on arrival at the main gate, the security guy just told us to go find a spare pitch and then book in. We did just that, and when my wife returned from reception, I discovered that we had innadvertently pitched on a Premier pitch having only paid for a standard electric pitch. This could have been a problem as I had already set up the van and was half way through erecting the awning - I wasnt in the mood to be told to take it all down and move on! Luckily for us - no-one seemed to notice, or if they did they left us be so we enjoyed a view of the Mere and the Premier facilities at no extra charge. Be warned though - its an easy mistake to make and not a very good way of organising things.
I would recommend payng for the premier pitch though as the proximity to the Mere is well worth the extra.
Some of the pitches are on quite a lateral gradient so choose with care or you may have trouble levelling the van and getting the awning up properly. The hardstanding is very narrow requiring precise reversing, (or a bit of man-handling).
Toilet and shower blocks were acceptable rather than spectacular, but they do have an annoying habit of closing them for cleaning at about 9am! A familly shower room including a bath is also available for a £10 key deposit.
The staff on site were unfailingly pleasant and helpful, and entertainment facilities were first class. The kids dicso wasnt too loud for the little ones, (as I've found before on other Haven sites), but they do tend to use the opportunity to promote goods you can buy, (and be pestered for), from the kids souvenir shop.
The highlight though has to be the Aqua bar and swimming pool. The pool was gorgeously warm and pleasant with spotless changing facilities. I've found other Haven sites have the temperature too low in the pool and it has spoiled swimming expeditions, but the Marton Mere one was a joy. There is a sauna and hot tub in the pool area which are also free, and a nice shallow pool for the tiddlers
The Aqua bar sells decent quality food at fair prices in a lovely, spacious and comfortable room,(though as in all Haven sites the beer is a little pricey!). Plenty of big widescreen TV's abound which is handy if there's a big football game on!
The outside terrace was a great place to site and watch the kids play on the trampolines, bouncy castle and playground, safe in the knowledge that the only escape route was past us again! Tis kids area was the cleanest and neatest I have ever come across and I had no worries letting them run free. All facilities apart from the miniature golf were free, although there was a token machine in place which looekd as though you had to pay. I'm not 100% sure if we weren't freeloading again but we didnt pay, (perhaps they charge later in the season?)
As for visiting Blackpool - you either love it or hate it! The site have a recommended taxi company who charge a standard £9 one way into town if plastic hats, cheeky postcards and drunken hen and stag parties are your thing. Not for me. But on a 3 night stop, there is little reason to stray from a very well appointed and beautifully maintained site.

Booked a premier pitch, which is worth the extra money for the extra space. Toilets were very clean and showers very hot, (press button type, stops every 3 minutes or so).
Shop on site stocked most things you would need however was on the expensive side. The clubhouse had different entertainment every night, aimed at families, (talent competitions, magicians, tribute acts) but you had to go through the amusements to reach it and the indoor pool (lovely and warm). Bike hire is £6 for half an hour, crazy golf is £3 per person.
On a negative angle if you chose a pitch near to the clubhouse and shop you may find it very noisy as the music continues till 12.30 or 1am at weekends, leading to alot of people vacating the clubhouse at the same time.
You have to depart by 10am on day of departure, The price we paid was a bargain as it was in school holidays £28 for 3 nights and £9 for the dog for 3 nights.

Usual British Holidays facilities, club, bar, shop and pool. Decent sized hard standing pitches, only downfall is the narrow roads between the rows of vans, not ideal for manovering a caravan and makes you a little close to the van in front. Toilet blocks leave a lot to be desired, they were dated, cold and always had a nasty smell even just after being cleaned.

Just back from 4 nights at Marton Mere - October break with three kids. Site was fine, friendly Staff, clean shower blocks etc.
Standard pitches are - as others have stated - quite small and close together, however for van without awning they are sufficient.
Best of all - online deal meant we paid £10.50 a night including the passes to the 'funworks' - or 7 year old was at the kids club every morning.
5 minutes from all the Blackpool attractions and easy to get back onto the M55 and then M6 for the journey home.
I imagine in high season this site will be quite busy and noisy - but in low season we found it ideal.

Took my 2 year old grandson here for a week.He loved the playground. Once we found it. You have to go through the amusement arcade to get to anything and everything. Bar, food, playpark, entertainment. Outside activities were derelict and unused. Crazy golf etc. Premier pitch was ok. Toilets spotless everyday. Warden friendly. Staff in food areas not too child friendly in my opinion.Food ok but better and cheaper in Blackpool.
Got the open top bus to tower paid return fair and asked when we could return.Driver said any time.Went for bus at 7.45 pm only to find we were too late for last bus which was at 7.00pm had to pay £9 for taxi.Good location if visiting Blackpool.

Really good site Premier pitches are located near the lake with lovely views. Its three miles from Blackpool and there is a half hourly bus service or reasonably priced taxi service. This is and ideal location to visit Blackpool and surrounding areas. Usual Haven facilities on site. Will definitely go again. You need to book in advance as the camp site was busy at the weekend.
