We booked into this site for one night only, thankfully. We received a huge discount and I was glad I had not paid full price for the pitch. The pitches are all hardstandings, but they are packed in like sardines. My husband is a HGV driver and only managed to get us on the pitch because the people across were out. The toilets however were clean and warm. The children's playground was fine, but getting to it, you had to pass lots of paying gaming machines. It is not a site I would recommend, nor will we be returning.

We arrived having booked a level hardstanding pitch(which is important as we have a wheelchair dependant daughter),the touring warden done her best but was in a losing battle as all the pitches are about as level as a driveway ramp,we agreed on the best pitch available and soon began setting up.To say the pitches are small is an understatement. Everything entertainment wise is accessed through the arcade and half the time is out of order. The facilities for the disabled where a joke, the disabled bathroom wasn't big enough to swing a cat in and was usually dirty, the showers for us had not stool or hook on door to hang your clothes on so you clean clothes and shoes ended up soaked.I know it was the last week of the season, but a lock on the door and hook for clothes wouldn't break the bank, the ceiling and walls in the toilet block were full of mould and smelt very bad. Staff were as helpful as they could,a lot of them where embarrassed at the state of facilities themselves.Unless there was a major overhaul of the touring facilities and pitches we will probably never go back.

Like all other reviews, don't expect a lot of space when you pitch up, all hardstanding which is a bonus, but if you bring an awning your car will need to go elsewhere. Park very tidy & nice, showers were decent & clean, although some only worked for 30 seconds :-(
Fully serviced pitches are closer together than normal pitches & all under the trees which were howling in the night, very windy.
Dog walk round the lake enjoyable, about an hour stroll, pool, jacuzzi, sauna all operational which was good. Vever went to the showbar for beer as I am tourer and fill my fridge in the supermarket at half the price. Asked to stay late & fee was £8.00, but to stay an extra night was only £7.00, so I paid the seven & left in the evening. Will go again, only an hour from Liverpool and kids enjoyed it. 3 night weekend for £47.00, bargain.

We booked Marton Mere for 5 nights costing £130. Upon arrival staff were helpful. We drove around the pitches for a good 5 mins to find a decent pitch (level and large enough for caravan + awning)this was a struggle! In the end the levelest grass/hardstanding we could find had a large crack and was broken into 2 levels so we had to park the van with care as the drop was quite significant.
Our van, car, awning took up all the room so when you exited the awning you literally walked into the car next door - pitches are packed together like sardines therefore there's no privacy neither is there room for kids to play - would've hated to stay here if it was fully booked!
The site is the usual Haven site. Upon finding the kids play area we discovered it was hemmed in by payable amusement rides but the only way you could get in was walking through them - the pool has a banding rota system so you have to wait a while to enter but there is a splash zone outdoors should it be warm enough!
Toilet blocks were close but weren't very clean. We heard many guests complaining about these. Bins overflowing, hair, tissues and dirty nappies slung on floor - guess the cleaner can only do so much with these sort of clients! The block near to us had an awful smell coming from the drains and the toilet & shower areas were dirty, but the main funworks area was cleaned regularly and the bar area appears remodernised.
We ended up only staying 2 nights as we were disappointed with many things. The Customer Care Manager didn't even argue with us & transferred us to another Haven site immediately. She said it had been years since the touring site was updated so I guess this says it all really.

Only stayed for one night so can't really comment on everything as we didn't use the facilities etc but the staff who greeted us were nice and pleasant.
They informed us of everything we needed to know, gave us a welcome pack and told us to choose any pitch that was free. The pitches themselves were extremely tight, had we put our awning up (on the small piece of grass provided) you could have hopped along everyones roofs, right to the end of the row - basically it looked like one large car park of caravans and cars. The turnings at the end of each row, towards the mere itself were really tight, so pick your spot carefully. The standard pitches were really central to the facilities compared to other Haven sites we've visited.
With this being a Saturday night the clubhouse entertainment and music went on until the early hours, again this didn't bother us too much but could do with some.
Great walk around Marton Mere for the dog. If you follow the paths up to the gold club and across onto the main road where you'll find Stanley Park.
Close to the centre of Blackpool without you realising, Tesco Extra is about 1/2 mile away and we found areally nice chinese takeway called Sweet & Sour just left at KFC, McDonalds etc.
Would we visit again. No not really, Haven isn't for us - too chavi as some say. You can find nicer places for cheaper than £55 a night!

Pitches small and not very level if using an awning.
You felt dirtier coming out the showers that what you did before you went into them. A neighbouring caravaner said 'I am only here because it cheap.' The kid couldn't even use the play park without going passed a couple of hundred flashing machines all shouting out for someone to put money in them.
In general Haven have a lot to learn, and should pump some of there huge profits into the touring side of things and concentrate on providing clean facilities, both in the complex and at the touring site

I'm amazed at all the negative reviews for this park, we have just returned after spending a whole week there and loved it. The staff are extremely friendly and cant do enough for you. The shower blocks were heated, clean and the water was hot. There's toilet roll in all of the cubicles and free plug points for your hair dryer/straighteners etc. The clubhouse has entertainment on every night and the kids love it - yes it is expensive as they want every flashing pom-pom or glow-stick that they see, but that's kids for you! We drank larger or cider and it's only £9.50 for a 4 pint pitcher, which is much cheaper than our local village pub.
The park backs onto a beautiful lake which is a wildlife reserve and has 'hides' scattered about, so that you can sit and watch the abundance of birds that live there, we strolled around the lake and it took us about 1.5 hours, its really vast and very beautiful.
The other great thing is that the bus service stops at the park, so getting around Blackpool and seeing the sites is really easy, great if you don't have a car or don't want to haul the campervan into town every day.
The only negative that I can agree with, is that the pitches are very small and you don't get much outside area to yourselves - if you do put an awning up, then its likely to back straight onto the next camper!

We opt to stay at this site because it was near Blackpool even though the pitch was probably the most expensive that we've ever paid about 45 pounds a night. We stayed only for three nights and on the first day we arrived, the reception was quite poor. We were just told by the security at the gate to turn into the road and follow the road to the touring field and a lady will meet us by the toilet. We waited for 10 minutes and she didn't turn up and we found out later it was the next toilet further down the road near the touring field. When we found her, she just gave us some informations and our funpass and told us to go and find our own premier pitch. We were lucky we found a pitch big enough for our motorhome but we didn't anticipate we will have loud music as we were very near the entertainment club area.
The toilet was quite a walk away from the premier pitch and most of the time it was steamed up as there is no ventilation in there. We did visit Blackpool on a Hop on and Off Bus that come every half an hour. We told the bus driver we just want to go to Blackpool and do not want to do the tour so he just charged us the local rate which was quite a saving.
We had a good time there.

Man's toilets had no hot water and the lights didn't work.
You cannot use the pool when you want to - they have a band system and even when you do get in the 'swimming' pool you can't swim just basically stand and move about a couple of feet around.
Caravans packed in like sardines.
Upon checking in you are told to go and get your pitch first and then check in. Some people taking the premier pitches when they hadn't paid for them and leaving only electric pitches for those that had. Now that ones a bit difficult to say you didn't know because it is clearly signposted where the premier pitches are!

Be Warned! If you have a caravan bigger than 20' you will struggle to get it on the pitch. On their web site when booking asks for the size of the van and if you click bigger than 21' you need to ring, this means nothing you still get a 20' pitch!
The shower blocks where nice and warm, but you need to get in first as the two blocks near the touring field one was nearly always locked. The wardens did there best to maintain them.
The shop on site is very good and the prices are great. The staff do the best under the working conditions they are in always trying to help.
