Haven have spent a lot of money re doing the pitches on this site, they now offer Super pitches which are the old Premier pitches, water, waste elec, and Euro pitches which are new, they are concrete hardstanding with gravel for the awning, they are nicely landscaped and they have built a lovely shower block. There is an excellent disabled room within the shower facility. It looks much tidier than last year and the facilities are good.

Bad points:-

Make sure you lock up your valuables, our friends had their bikes stolen during the night and I was woke up by someone trying to take my kids bikes (they were locked) The security on the site seems over the top, they drive around in their vans and they are everywhere, yet, they have no barrier onto the site, anyone can ride on as they don't stop you at the gate!

The prices of drinks are extortion, £5 for a coke and guiness and everything is expensive, make sure you take plenty of cash with you you will need it! There were also loads of gangs of teenagers all around the site as this site is huge with lots of regulars there in statics.

We got a knock on our door Sunday morning at 10.30am to ask us to vacate our pitch, you have to be off by 10am bearing in mind this is March, there were dozens of empty pitches! If you want to stay later guess what yes you have to pay! I thought 12 was the normal time you had to leave pitches so if your thinking of a lye in on Sunday morning then think again! Must say there are better sites out there and I will only use Haven at this time of year when its quieter, I don't like the way they over charge for everything, they are supposed to be the UKs favourite holiday??

We booked this site as it's close to my Mum's caravan site (that doesn't take tourers).

We booked it through the Sun promotion - advertised at £1 per night but with all the passes etc actually cost £9 including EHU & Porch Awning.

When we got there, we were given a map told to go 'anywhere around here' but we inadvertantly drove past the 'normal' pitches and ended up on a 'Super' pitch - a real novelty to us, not somthing we'd experienced before.

So, the pitch was great, the weather was very kind to us on the Saturday, but Sunday was awful!

We had a good walk around the site, it's huge and seemed quiet pleasant.

When we went to the swimming pool, we discovered you had to walk through an Arcade to get to it, in fact you had to go through the Arcade to get to the Cafe, the Park, Crazy Golf, the Chippy (fish & chips £5.95) and the Club. Great marketing I guess, but so not our cup of tea.

Plus if you wanted to play Crazy Golf, it was £12 for a family of 4. So in fact your 'Entertainment Pass' was for the Pool and access to the Club, but that's about it.

With respect to the club - it's huge, and people go in for bingo about 5.30pm then don't move so actually, if you eat in your van, then get ready to go out, you probably won't even get a seat.

Plus on top of this, in the club area, they have little shop/stalls that sell those flashing bunny ears and whirly flashing pieces of plastic that young children seem to adore, also there is a very expensive sweet shop, plus a hotdog stall (£3.95).

All in all, bit too noisy, too large, just too. Everything really.

We had a good time at Marton mere, good show bar with entertainment for the children and night entertainment for the whole family, there is a on site shop, laundry, indoor pool and outdoor splash zone, there is also a arcade with slot machines to keep you amused in the not so sunny weather, there are also tennis courts and bike hire for the more energetic. A bus pulls into the park every day to take you into Blackpool, the zoo is not too far away and also not far from the supermarket. The campsite also has a nature reserve which is lovely. We enjoyed our stay here very much.

In a change to our usual party, out party this time was made up of Grandma, my wife and our two boys aged 10 and 7.

Driving to the site with the aid of Sat-Nav from the nearby M55 will present you with no problems.

Check-in is slightly different this year as when arriving at the main gate, you show your touring booking details to the gate house and then this fella lets you in and you choose your own pitch and then then once pitched up, you then check-in with the main reception.

We have spent many a stay at Marton Mere and continue to re-visit, we continue to stay here more for its location to Blackpool and the entertainment complex than for anything else.

The pitches are tight here, but none more so than the nearby Windy Harbour's dog owners field. On our pitch, we had a light-weight awning, van and Land Rover alongside each other and it was OK. I could not have done that at nearby Windy Harbour.

The pitches are hard-standing for the caravan and your tow-car, and a small amount of grass for your awning. Nearly all pitches will require some degree of levelling blocks (not supplied). Please also choose your pitch carefully as most hard-standings suffer some form of standing water / puddles collecting on the hard-standing.

The swimming pool has recently been updated and both the spa and the slide in the indoor pool has been done away with and replaced with a outdoor water slide / flume bowl while retaining the indoor plain pool.

The toilet / shower block used to have coded locks on the doors but as these are no longer working, it has lead to an increase of minors hanging around the block with some being a pain in the backside in regards to the toilet rolls.

The near-by Mere allows children and adults alike to get up close to wild foul and the Mere is also a lovely place for a walk round.

A taxi to the Blackpool sea front is around the £10 mark depending on traffic while there is a well known USA fast food outlet near-by. There is also very big 'Every Little Helps' store within a few minutes drive.

We will visit again, as £50 for a weekend during the lights is cheap when considering everything and the staff here were always polite and the site at night was quiet when compared against other sites of this type.

Fantastic, Had a wonderful break, stayed for 5 nights in the may holiday. Everybody very friendly, toilet blocks very modern and up to date, these were cleaned regularly although the doors where open constantly so the kids run riot.

The park itself has plenty to offer swimming pool was spotless as recently refurbed, crazy golf very good, entertainment great as always with Haven.

I got my break for £88.50 half price, special offer which was on.Well worth it.Also you have the option to go to Blackpool which we did as we are a family of 5 we just got a return with the local taxis and it cost £20 quid round trip which I thought was pretty good although you can go on the open top bus which runs from the site, but does not run at night.

Give it a go its worth it!

I live in Blackpool and decided to book into Haven Marton Mere just for night as a reward to my daughter for doing well at school!

The pitches are very tight however I had read this before going so was not surprised.

The Swimming Pool has been improved but is still small, boring and shallow. Although have added the outdoor bowl slide, although there was about a 10 min queue for this and the stairs area to it were freezing.

The changing area and showers for the swimming ball are also very small.

The entertainment was the usual run of the mill stuff from Haven having a nearly 5 year old she loved it.

The site has two sets of shower blocks and toilets.

I stopped off in these on the way back to the caravan at about 10pm on the Saturday night and they were filthy and I mean really filthy.

It was nice on the Sunday morning to go for a walk with my little girl down to the lake where we feed the ducks and a big swan.

We spotted several rabbits on the way down to the lake which is lovely.

Overall the only thing I can fault is the cleanliness of the shower block.

This campsite was just awful - Arrived at quarter to seven and there was nobody around to tell us where we could pitch - there was hardly any room left, caravans packed in like sardines - lots of greedy people had taken up pitches by parking their cars on them, and pitching huge awnings and surrounding them with windbreaks, taking up too much space. This was not monitored or managed in any way. There was no room at all to put the awning up that we paid for.

A warden appeared the next morning and made me move my caravan 12 inches as it was too close to the electrics - but not a word to all the ones taking up too much space - and no help with finding a space for the awning.

The toilets were filthy and over run with unruly and unmonitored children. We were parked next to a group who seemed to think that everyone should benefit from their taste in very loud music.

The shop was OK, and the walks around the Mere lovely. Entertainment far too noisy, didn't try the pool as there were no sessions just for adults. Won't be returning.

Been to this site several times over the last few years and they have done a lot of work on it over the winter. The pool area is much nicer now but we were disappointed with the depth of it, this may sound silly but it is very shallow, in fact three quarters of it is shallow and you cant swim in it! Its ideal for toddlers but they would have been better making a separate splash pool for the smaller ones, they have built a slide outside but it has an age limit of 9 on it so my 6yr old was very upset, they used to have a smaller slide inside but this is gone! The pool was also very cold and the doors were open so this made it feel even colder!

The outside area is lovely now but I agree with previous comments that the play area is much too small for the size of the site and the golf is very expensive, do they not realise there's a credit crunch on?? The club is nice if you like very loud music, we only went in one night as you couldn't hear yourself think it was booming loud and even my kids didn't like it as it was too loud! Overall this is a nice site and its great to see Haven investing in their sites, however, with a bit more thought and common sense this site could be perfect!

This was our third time travelling to Marton Mere and each time we find it ok.

They have had a lot of work done on pool and crazy golf so we were quite excited to check it out. There used to be a small children's slide within the main pool, which our youngest aged 8 now, was looking forward to & hey presto that's gone ! instead they have installed a toilet bowl slide which is great but what about the little ones?

They have also rebuilt the crazy golf course which isn't very crazy and cost £12 per family of 4 !

They have also rebuilt the kiddies play area and its half the size that it was, shame.

There is some free activities, our eldest aged 10, tried the football coaching but wasn't too impressed, maybe something for the smaller future football champs.

We also tried the archery, £6 for the hour, they both enjoyed that but didn't get much time with the bows. They also tried the inflatables in the pool, we thought £5 for the hour, but no - half an hour. This takes place when the pool shuts at 6 & happens on a Sunday & Wednesday. The inflatables look huge on the poster but they are not, and they cant free play on them but have to form a queue and go over 1 at a time.

The food in the cafe is definitely ok, we ate there few times and clean plates each time, drinks £1.75 for soft drink, £2.00 for j20.

There's a great spar supermarket, sells everything you need, including newsapapers. Entertainment is good but very busy and unless you go early and sit through 3 hours of kids entertainment, £5 for picture of kids and rory, you wont get a seat.

Bit naughty in the fact that to go anywhere, swimming, golf etc you have to pass through the loudest, flashiest amusement arcade you have ever seen, very hard with young kids.

All clean and tidy we found, showers / toilets etc are clean and warm, site just a bit lacking in things to do in general, although lovely walk / bike ride round the lake, take some buttys and make an afternoon of it.

There's a bus that goes to Blackpool on the hour which is £8.50 one way for family of 4.

You can have a great time but it is an expensive cheap holiday.
