We came to this site 3 years ago and the touring area and facilities were a bit tired.
What a change. The new Euro pitches are fantastic and well maintained. They are fully serviced and even include a TV hook up. The new toilet blocks are kept spotless and they even have a large family room in the gents and ladies. The warden on site is very helpful and works hard to keep the area nice.
A bargain at £96 for the week (need to book early to get that price).
The pool has been fully refurbished and is also spotless with great changing facilities. You no longer have to get changed at the side of the pool. The entertainment was great for our six year old daughter and the drinks at the bar are reasonable (£2. 80 a pint and £9 for a bottle of wine)
You can get a weeks bus pass from the Spar (about half a mile from the site) for £13. 50 per adult and £7 per child. This covers all buses and trams in the Blackpool area. Well worth doing if you don't want to move the car. The number 20 bus leaves the site every 45 minutes to Blackpool. There are various other buses which stop at the houses across the road but it is only a five minute walk to the site. There is loads to do in Blackpool.
Full marks to Haven for making an effort with a touring area. Tourers are no longer an afterthought.

Just got back from a 3 day mid week break,
I was very impressed with the new pitches and the new toilet, shower block miles better than the old one, everything lovely and clean,
The buses came right into the camp and go into Blackpool via the Zoo, Stanley Park, and into the town centre, we were going to the Tower.
We went to the Circus, which we would recommend brilliant,
The night entertainment was great, we watched the Haven team on stage doing the party dances they worked really hard with the kids,
I love this site its clean and tidy and great value this time of the year at 31 pound for 3 nights, bit expensive in Summer though,
We will go back

Just spent a two night stay (Fri and Sat )at Marton Mere, our second time here.
Ideal location for families who want to venture into Blackpool for the day but want to be out of the way of the stag/hen parties at night.
We arrived later than planned on Friday due to nightmare traffic jams so didn't bother with our PDQ awning just a shower and then off to the entertainment complex in desperate need of food and drink. Father in law joined us in camper van for his first visit here. They were impressed with the site
There's no Mash and Barrel on this site which is no bad thing as we haven't found a decent one yet (usually kids portions for adults prices but nice food).
Instead there's a cafe bar serving a good selection of meals until 9pm.
The food here far out does mash and barrel on quality and quantity, full marks for this. Please haven don't spoil this site with a mash and barrel it doesn't need one.
The funworks show bar is just the same as every other Haven site if you like them you will have a good time if you don't then don't stay on a Haven site it's what their entertainment is, daft, a bit cheesy, but all the same there's something for kids and adults. It also gives the grown ups a bit of a rest while the kids race round.
The touring site has been improved since our last visit a new shower block, some newly done pitches although as some previous reviewers have mentioned the touring site can be a bit tight to manoeuvre round if cars are badly parked.
Had two good nights sleep hardly any noise after 11 except from the club but if you want a 2 minute walk to the entertainment you're going to hear it.
Otherwise its peace and quiet and a long walk, , , we prefer the short walk. Because we're regulars to haven we got A two night stay for around £40 which for Blackpool during illuminations is very good value. You wouldn't get a B&B for a family of 4 for that at any time.
We will be returning to marton Mere in the future it's an ideal base for Blackpool and a nice site.

Arrived at the site and found the touring reception, with a few grunts we got our welcome pack and were told to pick a pitch. Great the site quiet we thought. There were about 4 or 5 pitches free and we ended up on pitch 28 which was full of rubbish.
The pitch was ok if a little on the small side.
They stay itself was ok, the swimming was great for our 3 year old as it was shallow all over. Splash zone looked good but it was closed even though the temp outside was in the 20's.
We didn't use the night entertainment as its not our thing but we heard it ok, booming out until about midnight each night, no point in trying to get an early night.
As for a lie in well no chance there either because of a caravan with 4 dogs in barking all day long because the owners left them alone all day.
I'm glad I got 4 nights for 41 quid that's all I can say

Typical holiday site, very commercial. Everything you need for a holiday is here, pub, club, crazy golf. You get the picture.
Tesco is 15 mins walk away as is Stanley park which is nice. The mere (lake) itself has a great walk around it which isn't too strenuous and well worth the time if you like your nature.
It's a good idea to buy a day ticket for £4 for the buses and trams. Catch the bus to Blackpool then you can just hop on and off the trams as you like to anywhere they go then jump back on the bus back to site, good value.
The illuminations were better than ever and the place was buzzing.
This is not my type of site but it's excellent for families or if you feel the need to recharge your seaside batteries.

Went to this site with my wife and son, found the site quite easy just off the motorway.
At the site gate we was told to go and follow the tourer sign and go and check in at the reception, well not very well sign posted and the road down to were the reception was is a narrow road not good as cars coming the other way, would be better with one way system.
Arrived at reception and the warden gave us our haven pack and told us to find a pitch 1 to 60, so off you go and find one which we went round twice to find one.
I found the pitches ok but the roads were narrow as the cars were parked in front of the caravans making it hard to manoeuvre caravan.
Once set up went to get water from the tap which is on the hook up post and the handle was broken, so went to see warden to report it and she said will report it to maintenance.
We was here for four nights and no one came, was not happy should only need to be told once.
Also found on our pitch dog poo and general rubbish around the pitches no one seemed to come round clean it up.
We have a dog too and found the place not dog friendly ' I am meaning like if you want a drink at the bar complex you have to go through the fun works and dogs are not allowed, would be better with a outside area with benches but it was not end of world as we went to the pub at top of road'.
Would I come again, not if I can help it.
P. S Showers fine, and elsan a bit too far away.

Recently returned from a 4 night stay in Marton Mare, was easy to find just off the motorway no problems towing to the site.
Was met by Sue the warden, she was helpful and we had a choice of super pitches.
The pitch we had was a little close to the others, but we did not find this a problem.
First time having a super pitch, and was great not to have to carry waste or water.
Found the toilets and dish washing facilities clean and tidy, only down side was the showers although modern and clean, there was only hooks to hang your clothes and when getting dressed the floor was very wet and it was very difficult to keep my clothes dry.
We found the entertainment area very noisy and didn't use it however ideal for families.
Well stocked shop and a laundrette, good choice of food on site.
A lot of security staff however who where polite.
There is also a regular bus service from the site into Blackpool, we did not use this service.

The pitches are adequate more than spacious and could be a bit tight if you have a large caravan and awning. The new euro pitches look great, also the new shower block which was spotless at all times.
There is a bus service into Blackpool via Stanley Park and the zoo. Last bus back to site was about 6 o'clock.
Haven being Haven the amusement arcade lies in wait for the kid's pocket money. As you rush through it, blinkered, on your way to the clubhouse don't miss the excellent traditional chippy
In the clubhouse prices can be an issue, all I can say is that we have been in some pubs recently and paid more for the same round. One improvement is that real ale is now available.
Entertainment is a mixture of party dances, games and cabarets, very good.
Its not really a site for anyone seeking peace and quiet, though the mere does provide a refuge. It's hard to believe you are still so near Blackpool as you walk round the nature reserve, even though the tower looms in the distance.

Stayed on touring site on euro pitch, water grey waste and electric with tv point. Level concrete base for caravan and crushed rock for awning (take rock pegs, you will need them) they look new with small hedges in between and at back of pitch.
Found touring site to be clean and well looked after by sue the warden. Toilet and shower block all new with coded key entry

Spent a weekend at Marton Mere found the staff very helpful and polite the site itself was clean and tidy with a new shower block and other improvements it makes for a nice site.
It`s a pick your own pitch site we had a premier pitch which was a good size.
The facilities are good, typical Haven site. You have to go through the amusements to get to everything, cost me a small fortune with my 7 year old wanting to spend a sneaky pound whilst mum wasn`t looking. The evening entertainment was good everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.
There`s a cafe, fish'n`chip bar and a Spar shop on site.
There`s a lovely walk round the lake with quite a bit of wildlife on show, there are a few hides around the lake good for bird watching only downside was some dog owners didn`t clean up there mess.
Overall good site will visit again.
