First the good points :-
Nice site, well laid out, level pitches, modern clean toilet/shower block. Absolutely stunning scenery
Now the minus points :-
Only satellite television reception, no mobile phone reception(have to go 200yds off site to get reception)
Six miles-15 minute drive on a winding narrow (single track in places) road to the nearest town/shops at Pateley Bridge.
Other points :-
Had a problem with my tourer which they helped me out with (had to get a new part from a local hardware outlet) that they told me about. But when I first asked for the location of nearest caravan dealers they didn`t know of any. Considering that this is a caravan and camping site I thought they would at least have a list of caravan (parts) dealers, even if they are twenty five miles away.

Management response: The reviewer booked in to Studfold for a period of time after the end of the school summer holidays. They were taking advantage of our special offer and were being offered four free nights.
We have a good website that has comprehensive details of what to expect from your stay at Studfold, this clearly states that both mobile phone and TV reception are poor. We are situated at the top of one of the most picturesque dales in Yorkshire with breathtaking scenery, a place to let the stresses of everyday life slowly disappear. The road to get to us can be tight in places but is probably better than you would expect from a B road in the Yorkshire Dales.
During the reviewers stay with us we helped to organize a replacement jockey wheel, which he had damaged and also tried to find a new site that would be a better ‘fit ‘ for his requirements.
We do take great pride in our customer service, a fact that many of the reviews on here will support. We also take careful note of constructive criticism and when appropriate act upon it. We are having extra shower rooms added to the toilet block when we close this year.
Studfold, The Nidderdale Experience, is all about being out in beautiful countryside, enjoying the spectacular walks, tucking in to the splendid local food, visiting the many local attractions and re-engaging with nature. We are particularly keen to attract young families during weekends and holidays but also offer a warm welcome to those seeking a relaxing break during our quieter times! |

This is a really lovely site, very well laid out with excellent facilities.
It's about a 30 minute drive to the nearest town with shops so be sure not to forget anything. There is a small shop on site which sells a few essentials (maybe could do with being a little more items).
There are 2 pubs within in walking distance, both called The Crown. Was in downhill from the campsite and the other, uphill. I would recommend to drive if you have small children or not very fit! On arrival one of our party wasn't well so didn't feel like eating out as we had planned the first night so we drove to one of the pubs to be told they couldn't do anything to take away and were quiet unfriendly to say the least. (This is the one that is downhill from the site), on the other hand the other one was excellent, very friendly staff, very good pub food and great value for money (and dog friendly).
We will definitely be returning to this site this year! Recommend for children and being very dog friendly!

We used this campsite for one night this August. It was very easy to find, close to Pately Bridge with nice shops and local attractions. We were very pleased to find that the campsite was only a mile away from How Stean Gorge which we visited the day we left the campsite. On arrival to the site we found that the reception was about 5 minute walk from the site itself, but the staff was very helpful telling us about where to get a mobile signal. And also informing us of a shooting star show that had been appearing over the campsite over a few nights, we managed to see a few of these that night even though it was cloudy. The pitches we well drained and a flat surface, toilets and showers were clean, the only downside was the water, which came from their borehole which was a little on the smelly side. But ok to drink. Plenty of hot water. There was a little a stream at the bottom of the camp which comes from the gorge, which was not fenced off very well so could be dangerous if children were to be left to play alone, but other then this a very lovely campsite in great surroundings.

We visited Studfold for the first time for a long weekend courtesy of 2 teacher training days. Friday and Saturday night were busy, and the site did stay slightly noisier after hours. Nothing a quick kids, can you be a bit quieter please didn't sort. Sunday night and Monday morning were heaven.
Good sized level pitches, lovely views of the church at Middlesmoor. Immaculate shower, toilet blocks and wash up area. My only criticism is with regard to the showers they're a touch too hot, with kids in mind. Also the short burst and re-press gets a touch tedious if washing hair.
Stuff to do, we visited How Stean gorge, and did the Studfold adventure trail which is highly recommended if you don't take two moaning (non walking) grandparents with you! We also ate a couple of nights at the crown at Lofthouse our 5 year old moans going uphill so didn't get to Middlesmoor this time! Food was good simple pub food, with well served good beer. We also went up coldstones cut and it was very windy, fabulous views but took our 5 year old off her feet!
Studfold has gone right up my list, I loved it. I've got an enormous to do list in the area so much so we're booked again. Ok there's no mobile reception, there's no wifi (please don't put it in), and there might not be tv reception (doesn't affect me I'd never take a tv camping), lets go crazy and talk to each other or read :-) The shop is a little weighted towards children, but the adventure trail is also heavily geared towards kids, it's very family orientated. Provisions wise there's lots of options in Pateley Bridge which is about 15 miles round trip so needs a little planning.
Also we'd originally booked to go at Easter and had to cancel due to the snow, Studfold honoured our deposit, and actually gave me the option of refund or rebook. Their customer service is outstanding, the only bit that makes me sad was taking 3 months longer to find this little gem that will become a firm favourite. Can't wait to get back.

Just returned from a very enjoyable weekend break here. The views from the campsite are beautiful. The site is well looked after with level pitches and clean toilet/shower block. The owners & staff are lovely too. The on-site shop is limited but I asked what they stocked in the shop and the owner was very willing to let us pre-order some bits. The site was very busy over the weekend with families as its a great place for children with lots for them to do and the children were well behaved 'BUT' on the Saturday night, 2 very selfish families 'not related', let there children carry on playing at 11:40pm-to-midnight, way over the 10pm curfew witch made other campers very cross and the talk of the site the next morning, with 3 men and 5 woman going to have it out with the 2 families involved. (OMG, looked a little like a vigilante gang but rightly so!) by Sunday lunch time all the children had gone. On Saturday we all went for a walk upto the Crown Hotel in the village of Middlesmoor for dinner, it was a 16 min walk/1 mile but up a hill was a great walk and wow dinner was very nice and value for money. Also the village of Lofthouse has The Crown Hotel, 10 min walk/half a mile and we had Sunday lunch their and it was also very very nice too and also value for money. Yes we are coming back to Studfold Farm Campsite and yes we are definitely having lunch or dinner at both of the pubs again!

We have just returned from a very enjoyable, mid-week break here and fully agree with all the previous comments. The site is very well looked after with level pitches and the cleanliness of the Toilet/Shower block is exceptionally high. Site fees are very reasonable and the mid-week special offer of 3 nights for the price of 2 (£24) is an absolute bargain and money well spent.
The site is very quiet (or it was, mid-week when we visited) and set in beautiful countryside with stunning scenery all round. Site owners are very friendly and nothing seams to be too much trouble for them. My only criticism would be the limited stock of goods available in the on-site shop (which only opens for a couple of hours per day). If you want sweets or toys for the kids then it's an Aladdins cave. However, if you run out of milk your in trouble! You can get milk from the shop but only if you pre-order it the day before. Because of the remote location of this site, there are NO nearby shops (except a Post Office in Lofthouse)so if you need supplies it's a 16 mile round trip to the shops at Patley bridge.
I would definitely recommend this Site and would certainly pay it a return visit. However, you need to make sure you are well stocked up with provisions first and, oh yes, make sure you take an ample supply of Midget Repellent

Approaching road to the site a very narrow and at times problematic, The site is well looked after and most areas flat. Set in a very picturesque setting
We had electric hook up no issues there, what we did find is we feel Studfold on their web site should inform guests is that there is no mobile or
TV reception, mobile reception is 200 yards down the lane at a lay bye, TV reception is non existent even with booster aerial.
It you want a place that is very much out of the way then this is the place.

I chose Studfold Farm for my first outing with my tent. It is close enough to home that if I had any problems I could stick everything back in the car and head for home.
I booked a pitch with an EHU and the pitch I was allocated was great - flat and the grass was really well maintained. Behind the pitch there was a gorge with a stream which sounded so relaxing at night.
The toilet/shower block was in the same field and was always clean and well maintained.
There are plenty of sights to see in the area. If you visit Pateley Bridge check out the fish and chip shop - I got some of the best fish and chips I have ever tasted there.
This isn't a site if you have to have internet access on tap, or if you spend hours staring at your phone waiting for text messages or facebook updates. But, if you want to see unbelievable views and just relax then this is the place to go.

Sorry for the delay putting this review on, really should have got round to this sooner.
The site is in a stunning location, with countryside views in all directions, it's quiet and immaculately kept including toilet facilities.
We visited the site as a recon mission for our cycling club, (Welland Valley) that will be staying at the site when the Tour de France Yorkshire next July. The site is ideally located and we expect to to be able to see the tour 3 times during its two day visit to the county. The owner is planning a TDF themed weekend so if you are planning to stay for the same reason you better get your skates on and book.
The site is the ultimate get away from it all location, there a 3 places to eat within a mile a small shop on site and a small post office in the village, but there is no getting away from how isolated the place is so you are better off bringing all that you need with you. We camped with a hook up and whilst we were the only residents we did not trip the fuse once.
The ground is a little stony, so pegging took a little patience and there is no mobile or DAB reception. Tour de France or not we will definitely be returning as gems like this are few and far between.

We're just back from spending a long weekend at Studfold, a family run site, and recommend it. There was a friendly reception, decent sized, flat fields, EHU if you want it, lovely views towards Middlesmoor and the hills beyond, and it's one of the better sites for toilet and shower facilities. There are nice touches like flowers in the toilets, a current weather forecast printed out and displayed each day, and washing-up liquid available by the sinks.
There is no mobile phone signal, but there is an old-fashioned phone box by the Reception. We did suffer a little with midges, but that is down to the area and the time of year.
The moors have a lot of farm and sheep tracks, which make for fairly easy walking. Just make sure you have an O. S. Map with you.
