Lovely campsite situated in a picturesque field(s) at the corner of two valleys just outside the little village of Lofthouse. The views out of the tent are stunning. The toilet block is VERY clean and tidy and was pretty much empty every time we used it. Fan in the block can be a little noisy at night if you are camping near the block but this is a small price to pay for the fresh smell (or lack of smell) you experience when entering the block.
Washing-up facilities were excellent with hot and cold water available as well as brushes, washing up liquid, cream cleaner, hand wash etc. All you could ever need if you had left your own provisions behind. True to his word on this website, the farmer stops and chats to you when doing his rounds and all the staff and family are extremely friendly and welcoming.
Facilities in the area are a bit limited with a Spar in Pately Bridge (8 miles away) being the only option for provisions as the shop on site is very small and has limited opening hours. However, this is in essence what camping is all about - getting away from it all so absolutely no complaints on this account.
For the kids there is an educational trail on site and a gorge scrambling site basically next door. From Pately Bridge you can visit Brimham Rocks and the show caves in nearby Greenhow (both 13 miles).
I can thoroughly recommend this site: it is swallow-friendly! We will definitely be making a return visit.

2nd visit of the year, 3 nights mid week with friends. Just love this site, always a friendly welcome, pitches are a good size and flat, we were in the hook up field this time.
Facilities were as in previous visits very clean and well maintained, we did not need to wait for showers or washing up (it was mid week stay)nice little touches like hand washing soap provided in the toilets, washing up liquid also provided by the sinks.
The office doubles as a shop with essential supplies. Spar supermarket in Pately Bridge. Can recommend the fish & chip shop in Pately (there are 2 but both owned and run by the same family) also worth looking in at the oldest sweet shop in England, they have all those sweets we used to get as kids.
The surrounding area has something for everyone, fantastic walks onto the moors, Pately bridge, Ripley & Masham are only a short drive away. Stump Cross caverns also worth a visit.
The Gorge which is only a short walk from the site is great for the 12 year old - they would spend all day in the water. We can recommend the all day breakfast at the Gorge cafe.
Will try and get back for a weekend before the end of the season.

Our very first camping trip!
Stayed on pitch no. 4 (riverside pitch)
2 Adults, 2 children (aged 11&9) + 1 dog, Hi Gear Khalahari 8 tent plus porch - plenty of room, didn't feel squashed together with other campers.
*Gorgeous camping field with EHU plus separate field for non EHU
*Pristine facilities - very clean toilets (x3), lovely hot showers (x2) & 3 sinks (1 in a cubicle if you want a strip down wash rather than a shower)in womens & same again in mens
*Great washing up facilities with a family of swallows to keep you entertained!
*Stunning views with lots of places to visit/walk to without having to go far
*Very family orientated - noise to be kept to a minimum after 10pm (which even us grown ups appreciated after a day in the fresh air!)
*1pm check in/departure so plenty of time to get packed away
*Play area (field) for kids to enjoy a kick about or general run around in the fresh air
*Dogs to be kept on lead at all times on site and exercised off site
*Nature Trail on site (unfortunately didn't manage to visit this as dogs are not allowed)
*On site shop with limited opening hours selling basics. Pateley Bridge has a Spar which sells everything else you may need (about 15 min drive)
All in all every one of us absolutely loved it and can't wait to return (next time for more than 2 nights!).
A big thank you to Studfield Farm Caravan and Camping Park for a fantastic first camping trip!

We have just returned from an excellent 4 day stay at Studfold. I am now amazed at earlier reviewers 'corporate' comments as we found the opposite.
The site is set a superb location, around 15 mins drive from Pateley Bridge.
The tents are located in 2 fields, one with electric and one without. Spacious pitches in both fields (numbered) and grass of a nice length for comfort and to keep the place clean and tidy.
Spotless toilet / showerblock which was cleaned regularly during our stay.
We arrived in torrential rain, and there was some pools of standing water for a short time but these drained away soon after, despite the field being mostly flat.
There is a small shop on site selling mainly sweets etc, but newspapers could be ordered for 20p (on top of the price of the paper).
The only reason I wont give it a 10/10 is that is quite a drive to anywhere (via pateley bridge)each time you want to visit somewhere.
My advice would be to approach the site via this way, but once you are there, switch sat nav off as it will take you via some strange routes to get to the local attractions (fountains abbey, brimham rocks etc).
All in all a great stay and the site is up there with the best we have stayed! Wish it could have been for longer.

Absolutely love this campsite, very clean and extremely well run, lots of attention to detail and the toilet / shower area is great.
The nature trail was excellent and filled an afternoon, the kids (3 and 4) loved it.
Pateley Bridge well worth a visit with the oldest sweetshop in the country and a brill butchers for your bbq meat!
We ate out one evening after a struggle to find anywhere, there are 2 locals - The Crown in Middlesmoor which didn't open til 7pm, and The Crown in Lofthouse which is apparently not very child friendly! We ate at Harefield Hall in PB which was great.
Highly recommend this place particularly for young families, and we will definitely be returning!

Just spent one night at Studfold.
Friendly welcome at reception and given very clear map / site guide with directions to our pitch. Good size pitch in camping field (no 32) with no immediate neighbours as pretty quiet this week.
In fact only three tents in the furthest field and not many more in the main one. Loads of room for the kids to run about and play football.
Wonderful facility block (new last year I think) with excellent showers and washing. Great walks from the site around Nidderdale. Will definitely be returning in the future.

We stayed here for three nights and were blown away, not in our tent may I add but by the overall spectacular views. On arrival, we were met with a lovely lady at the little reception area which also doubles up as a shop. We were given the pitch number and went on to put up the tent.
Positives: lovely clean modern showers, toilets and pot washing area. Level pitch with loads of room. Easy to park the car at the side of the tent. A ten minute walk to the very friendly pub and the landlord and land lady were lovely. Great access to fishing on the Nidd and Scar House res. Beautiful walks along the beck and river. A gorgeous family of baby swallows.
Negatives: Two shower cubicles in the ladies and 20 plus pitches (if site full). Stoney ground so difficult to get one or two tent pegs in. You need to get stocked up with bread, milk and butter. The local two shops sell out of essentials very quickly. The nearest supermarket is a few miles away in Pately Bridge.
We will definitely be returning. We had a great time despite the wind and rain.

We spent a wonderful weekend at Studfold - two families, including four children aged 6-11. We found the facilities excellent, the countryside marvellous and the owners v helpful.
They were happy to lend us their jumpleads when we got a flat battery on departure.
Great place for children, felt v safe.
Wonderful countryside and some nice little walks in the immediate vicinity of the campsite. The little brook was v attractive to the children, but not deep enough to concern us if they ventured off unaccompanied.
The only downfall was the sudden appearance of midgies as soon as darkness started to fall. We braved it the first evening, but all the children's faces were covered with bites. The second night we gave in and spent the evening in the tent, which is a shame on one of the hottest weekends of the year.
Great location and all in all a great experience.

We spent one night here recently and had a fabulous time. We joined friends who had camped before and the owner placed us nearby. There was plenty of space and it was a nice family site with lots of room for the kids to play.
The location is amazing, a gorge at the bottom of the field with a babbling brook, nature trail and smack bang in the dales.
The washing up facilities and the toilets and showers were the best I've seen. The shop was small though if there was one thing that could be changed.
Would have loved to stay longer.

We first visited this site in 2009 and loved it.
Since then we felt that the site has gone a bit 'corporate'.
It has expanded and feels very crowded when full.
We were lucky enough to be in the field without electricity which was a lot more spacious. The tents with electricity were cooped together with little space between them.
It was the end of half term and was busy with several groups of friends and families but it still kept a family feel and was quiet in the evenings.
The shower blocks were rated as excellent last visit but as the site has expanded, the facilities have not and two showers each for each gender is just not enough for 46 pitches.
The water is also very smelly as it is high in fluoride and so has the sulphurous pong. This is not the camp-site's fault but the odour was strong enough last weekend to make drinking and showering unpleasant.
We did not like having a code on the shower block as the chances of vandalism etc are minimal as the site is in a rural area and there is nothing more annoying than paying a trip to the loo at 1am to realise that you cannot remember the code!
The site is in a beautiful location with good facilities. It just needs to be able to adapt to being full and perhaps a little more tlc from the owner.
OWner's comments: Thank you for your review; it is always good to get feedback of both a positive and negative nature. We do take note of the reviews left about our Park and refer to them for future changes. In recent months we have reduced the charge for a gazebo/kitchen tent and had another deep sink added for better washing up facilities. With direct reference to this review I would like to make a couple of points: We keep the toilet doors locked with a punch pad entry code so that only our visitors have access to the facilities. We have had both walkers and campers from an adjacent site trying to gain access. Hot water is therefore used by those that it is intended for. The period of your stay was busy but we never book in more units than the 46 pitches. We usually try and keep 4 pitches in reserve to cover for unexpected arrivals (which are very unusual). Finally we pride ourselves on being a caring family run park. The purpose of me walking around the park is to ensure that people are happy and to place myself in a situation where I can offer advice and occasionally enforce the park rules! We do get over subscribed but a large proportion of our bookings are repeat visits. Ian Walker Studfold Caravan and Camping Park
