Lovely campsite for tents and tourers alike, although long hike from top field to wash up area for tents, but hey you're not going camping to rush around, three lovely fields away from statics. Lovely park for kids to play in, as it was not busy that weekend they let us leave late on Sunday with no charge. You normally have to pay extra for awning hate this rule on sites as your plot is your plot in my eyes and you should be able to put up what you like if you stay in your boundary, however only £2 a night so not too bad although they very nicely waved this charge for us as we said we were only putting it up for the day to test it out, when we went back to pay £2 to leave it up overnight they told us not to worry about it, very refreshing attitude.
Will definitely return, very relaxing break. Loads of hot water for showers, clean and cubicles big enough to sort kids. Total cost for us was £18 a night that was two adults two kids and a dog.
Easy access we came from Darlington way so had to ignore sat nav and do caravan route to avoid Sutton bank, first time was quite nervous but caravan route was easy, did think we'd gone wrong at one point as we couldn't see one of the signs, however checked on way back and it was there just me being blind, for anyone doing route and is as blind as me you come through a small village, they have a puppet policeman up to make you slow down (very good idea) do a right after policeman at the crossroads bit. Then let your sat nav kick back in as you start seeing signs for Malton.

A lovely site, very clean and tidy, although some improvements could be made. The camping and top touring field did seem a good distance from the toilet block, so we pitched nearer in the bottom section, however this made the playground to far away for us to allow the kids to go and play alone. We pitched among statics which gave a nice feel. As mentioned previously I'm not sure how on earth the site copes when it's full as there are only two showers in the women's, I gave up waiting on our last day. I think a major improvement would be a new block on the top field.
We visited Pickering, and Scarbough, the steam train from Pickering to Whitby was nice. It wasn't cheap however we spent 3 hours on the steam train in total.
If the site owners do read this, please tidy the outdoor area of the wardens house, it really lets the place down
We took a walk into the village which is 30 seconds out of the back gate, a small shop is open there during the day, and the pub in the village is fantastic e, log burners and wonderful food, as well as a nice outdoor space.

Stayed at this site May Bank holiday and had a fantastic time. The pitch sizes are fantastic and a well drained site, we were in the top caravan field and near to the park but this is a long walk to the toilets however they were clean and always had hot water.
Fantastic walks around the site and easy access to Castle Howard and the town of Slingsby.
Lovely people and always willing to help.

Stayed over for just one night. Great site with very friendly owners. Useful shop which sells the staple stuff, milk, bread, snacks, wine and beer etc.
The tent site is at the far end or close to the entrance of the site which means you will be closer to the road so expect some noise. You will also be farther away from the ablutions. The ablutions are warm, clean and reasonably tidy. The toilets were left a bit messy until around midday which was slightly disappointing.
There is nice pub just a 15 minute walk away, good ale and good food and friendly people.
The cost was OK, £20 for a 4 man tent including electric with a good sized pitch. The tent field is flat and well looked after surrounded by high hedges.

This site is a gem! The pitches are of a generous size, each with individual water supply and drainage, and the site is very well-maintained with a lovely toilet block. There's a great children's play area and if they are bored with that, pick up a copy of the Treasure Trail which takes you all over the site and the lovely adjacent village. It's in a fabulous, peaceful location with Castle Howard virtually on the doorstep and the North York Moors, the coast and York all within easy reach. The owners were very helpful and very friendly, and the pre-arrival email showing which pitch you are on is a master-stroke! We had a wonderfully relaxing time and certainly hope to go back at some point in the future.

Fantastic site!
This is the second time we have stayed at this site and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a good location for a wide variety of days out and somewhere quiet, safe and very well kept to stay.
The toilet block is extremely clean and lovely and warm - fab on a chilly September morning!
We particularly liked being able to pitch our tent on a plot with water and electric - v convenient. The site is well lit after dark with road lighting and lights on each hook up point on the camping / touring section.
The park is a great asset for children - super equipment and very safe. Our little boy of almost four loved it
Useful shop and the village location is lovely for a stroll out.
We can't wait to go again however we would avoid busy periods as we felt the toilet / showering facilities, although excellent, could be a tad oversubscribed.

Lovely site, clean and tidy. The staff are very welcoming and most helpful, they leave you alone once you have checked in but are there if needed. We only stayed 2 nights but were more than happy. Very peaceful settings and close by for visiting places. Try the village pub the camp does not advertise it but nice for a drink (no food served).
The only down side the grass needed cutting but it had rained the previous 2 days so it was quite muddy.

Just back from august bank holiday weekend. It was our first visit to this site and was very impressed with it. Pleasant and helpful staff.
The site was clean and very well kept with a good size play area for the kids. A small shop on site which stocked the basics.
The only negative that I can think of is the walk to the toilet from the camping pitches. The toilet/shower block were clean and warm. Showers are hot with good pressure, private wash basin cubicles a good idea.
Will be returning again next summer.

Just got back from a brilliant Bank Holiday weekend at Robin Hood campsite in Slingsby. This was the first time we had used the site but it will not be the last.
The whole check in and arrival process was brilliant and the staff very nice too. The pitch's in the touring fields where of a really good size and electric hook up and water where nice and close.
We had a large trailer tent and the pitch still allowed lots of room for parking and 'play space' between neighbouring units.
The negatives I would have for the site are that they really could do themselves more of a favour and have a bigger and better stocked shop. Local shops are available but if people could get it on site they would in most cases?
The other would be over the toilet/shower block it is really really clean and modern but it's only got 2 showers (although hot)could be a problem (not for us we just showered later at night)
Overall though a great site with great people.
