This was our first experience of camping so we were not sure what to expect, we enjoyed our stay and we will use again. Good basic site, shower block clean although only 2 showers in each block so not sure what it would be like during a busy period. It was quite a long walk to the toilets/showers from the tent field. Small play area for the kids, but as it was quiet there was plenty of room for the football, despite the rain the kids had fun!
Only about 5 min drive to Castle Howard, 10 mins to Malton.

We are new to caravanning and this was only our second time out, when we arrived at the site we were directed to our pitch by the friendly helpful staff. Being novices at this we thought we could not manouver onto the pitch so we asked if there was an alternate pitch and they helped us to move straight away, although it was a busy May Bank holiday weekend.
All pitches are Fully Serviced and either hardstanding or grass, depending on where you are on the site. The site has a well stocked small shop, including off licence, try the glass of Wine if you dare! The toilets/showers were always clean and tidy, showers were perhaps a bit too hot, so check before letting children use them.
Playground is up on the middle camping field which was adequate for our childrens needs, but there are plans to move it in the near future. The village it self was lovely comprising of a pub, bakery, farm shop and weekly Fish and Chip van. We got to see lots of the village as they had a Scarecrow Trail around the whole of the village, which the children really enjoyed, the residents had obviously put alot of effort into them! Village also has a large recreation area with its own clubhouse, as it was Bank Holiday weekend this was used for a football match on Saturday and a large car boot sale on the Monday. It was overall a good weekend. We obviously liked the site as we are going again in June with friends who are staying in a rented static.

We stayed at this campsite over the bank holiday. Our pitch was opposite the camsite play park - perfect for our children 2 and 8. The site is perfectly kept from the entrance to the exit, and flows through to the idealistic village of Swinderby. The shower block was perfectly clean and warm. Although only 2 showers these were ample for our stay. The camp shop was open till around 8pm ish which was very useful, with the choice of a fantastic farm shop 2 minutes walk in the village. We would recommend this quaint and perfect site!

Perfect location for touring around the North Yorkshire countryside and coastal areas. Also half an hour to central York. Site is right on the edge of the village with a great little village shop/post office with superb home made pasties and pies 3 minutes walk and a further 2 minutes to the local pub. Both establishment offering a friendly and welcome reception. Under normal circumstances I am sure the facilities on the site would be adequate, but this was August bank holiday. At first sight the toilet/shower block was spotless and modern with pipping hot water (free), but despite the valiant efforts of the owners/cleaners, they were not big enough to cope with the number of units on the site and they became quite dirty and following rain the floors were muddy. Also long queue's developed and from the top field it was a fairly long and dark walk. Although the description states 30 units there are two further large fields which are utilised as overflows at busy periods (such as a bank holiday). It is a pity to offer any criticism because it was a nice site, friendly and helpful owners, good location, children friendly and I believe under normal circumstances very clean and modern facilities. Would we go again? yes but not on a bank holiday

We returned to this site because we enjoyed it so much the last time. We pitched on the top field the previous year and requested the same this year as the play area is right in the middle of the field so the children could play and we could watch them at all times. Unfortunately the bungalows adjacent to the campsite have raised objections with Ryedale council to caravans being on that field and as a result only tents are allowed to pitch there at present. We were a little disappointed, however the owners were very accommodating and we were given a serviced pitch on the bottom field amongst some touring and static caravans.
The pitches had their own electric, water and waste which was great. The owners have put in for permission for a third time for caravans to be permitted on the top field and have done everything possible to enable this to go ahead and have planted new trees to act as a screen so that the bungalows will be protected from noise and also the view. At present there is already a hedge the height of the bungalows separating their gardens from the campsite so personally I cannot see what the problem is, surely people in tents make as much noise as people in caravans? and the campsite was there long before the bungalows were built.
We still enjoyed our holiday very much. Do not be put off by this - there are picnic benches on the field with the children's play area on so it is lovely to sit and read or watch the children play there. As usual the facilities were exceptionally clean and tidy at all times and the showers were more than adequate. There is a village pub called The Grapes about 5 minutes walk away and there is also a little park for small children and swings located next to the sports centre.

I visited this site with my husband and two children aged 2 years and 5 years together with some friends who had 2 children aged 2 and 8 years.
We were situated on the middle field which was absolutely brilliant as the play area was located right in the centre of the field which meant our children could play quite happily whilst we sat down and we could supervise them at all times without leaving our caravan. The kids loved the play area.
The shower block was located on the next field down nearer the statics and I found them to be very clean at all times. In fact when you opened the door it smelled as if they had just been cleaned no matter when you went!
The only time I found them a little untidy was when the grass had just been cut and there was gras on the floor, but they were clean once again within the hour.
I would definatley visit this site again, great for the kids, they cannot come to any harm, pitches lovely and spacious, definitely not overcrowded, a lovely place to relax and within easy driving distance of Scarborough and the coast.

May 2005 had a very enjoyable weekend at Robin Hood camping and caravan site. Facilities kept nice and clean always warm in toilet and shower block.O nly downfall was in my opinion the site was backsides forward. Let me explain, the static caravans were on the bottom beside the toilets/showers then the field for the tourers then the top 2 fields for the tents (who need toilets more than statics&tourers) which were 5min walk away. But that is my opinion, apart from that very enjoyable site kids loved it. Very noisy in top field next to the road. You also need good strong pegs as ground is very stoney about 3inches under grass

July 2004 This was our first time camping and we were very pleased with this site. The kids play area in the middle of the field was excellent as we could see our daughter at all times. The site was clean and friendly with good facilities. The only thing missing was a shower curtain between the shower and changing area to avoid splashing your clothes. A huge bonus was the sports club in the village, very cheap and very friendly. We have been back and will be going again this year as we have now got a caravan. Very good value and excellent site for families.

late June 2004 Overall we were very pleased with this site.
It was quiet when we went and we were given free range to pitch our tent wherever we wished on the large tent field (1 of 2)
Facilities were basic but generally very clean, and kept so by a particularly cheerful lady.
On the negative side the bins in the tent area were too few in number and were overflowing on a Thursday when we arrived despite there only being one tent on site. They were not then emptied for 2 days.
Also the female toilet block suffered at the hands of some young female walkers and was taken over completely for a night and a morning, and was filthy for most of that time. They spent more time in the toilet block than in their tents I thinks, and that was on a day of relatively good weather.
All in all though the site was very quiet with loads of space and we would certainly go back. I would agree it was an excellent space from which to explore both inland or on the coast if you prefer.

July 2004 Nice clean site, pitches were level, toilets clean but very quiet... bit too quiet. Toilets were a little further away that I would have liked. On the whole though a quiet and clean place to relax.
