Just got back from Aug Bank Hol weekend and had a totally fantastic time. The most impressive fact is that our pitch was self sufficient no walking for water or waste but long waste pipes advisable from caravan as ours didn't quite reach.

We booked on line so got all our info before we arrived, so we set up then went to check in and this worked very well a quick and sensible system.

The toilet block was good but only 2 showers so picking suitable shower time important. Where we were pitched was a great cycle route for the kids and in the top field was a great park.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and when we arrived we were helped straight away from a static van owner.

Will definitely be going back and will recommend to friends.

Just returned from five days over the busy Jubilee bank holiday to visit family locally. This really is a lovely site in a great location. Wonderful park for the children aged 9 and 6. Shop on site. Toilets are at the far end of the site, so a bit of a walk for tenters like us. This wasn't a problem for us but there were only two showers and two sinks for washing up and over the bank holiday there were long queues for both. A mop and bucket were not provided so the showers were always muddy at the entrance due to the wet weather. A small point but this is normal practice at all the sites we have visited before. Showers of the push button type but nice and hot. After the bank holiday they were less busy.

Helpful staff on arrival, although there were no directions/signposts on arrival and we drove our trailer tent right up to the shop which was difficult to reverse back out of. I imagine if you took a caravan all the way down there you would regret it! We liked the fact that there seemed to be no wardens on site as remarked on by other reviewers. Often they can be a bit overbearing and I felt very relaxed and free of restrictions during our stay. No-one was noisy (except a rousing National Anthem and Land of Hope and Glory one night from some campers nearby!) I was in bed by eleven and didn't hear a thing until the dawn chorus.

We had family visit us on site for a bbq and it was great to be able to have visitors without having to account for our every movement. Our parents came to help us look after the children on pack up day and had gone to the CC club site nearby by mistake and had been pounced on by the warden there who had been less than friendly.

We would definitely stay again.

Just got back from this site and although a really nice site, we will not be going back.

Positives:

Excellent play area for the children

Lots of room

Clean and tidy

Friendly people

Negatives:

Toilet blocks too far away, toilets are next to the static caravans and is a good walk away from the tents.

Only 2 showers

Pot washing facilities also too far away

This is the only reason why we will not be going back, toilets just too far away from the tents which made it impossible for small children

We saw no warden on site, which meant a lot of people was really noisy late into the night.

This is the 2nd time we have been to this campsite. Myself, hubby and 3 kids all love the site especially since they got permission for tents with elec hook-up to use the middle field also.

Nice wide pitches with room to spare (i have a corado 8 which is approx 8m x 5m)

The playground is fab for all ages and I had to drag my kids away.

The toilets and showers have just had a facelift and look much better than last time. In a perfect world they would build toilets nearer the top field but its only around 5mins away from tents (use the kids scooters and its only 2 mins away!)

The little shop/reception is exactly what is needed and I am under the impression the fish and chip van no longer calls on a sat night, but the reception have various takeout menus which deliver.

If you want a nice clean campsite with play area for kids then this is where to go!

Just spent easter bank holiday at this wonderful campsite. The kids loved the playground and spent hours up there making new friends. The toilet block was modern and spotlessly clean and the showers were really good and I never had to wait to use them. There was a little on site shop were you could purchase basic daily needs, milk, bread, papers etc. We also purchased a book from the shop which included 12 local walks from slingsby and was really good value at £1. 99. There is a sainsburys and morrisons in malton which is 6 miles away. On a saturday night a fish and chip van comes to site and I can highly recommend, as it was really good value for money. All in all a great time was had and we will return

Our caravan was next to the tents, too far from the toilet and shower block. They need to build another one. Shower block wasn't clean only 3 toilets and 3 showers they need more.

On site shop it says well stocked they have to be kidding very poor. It could with a sign on the cross roads to say where they are.

The good things on this site where plenty of room between each pitch. Good base for easy access to other places.

Mains plumbing was very good they call it a super pitch

Cannot add much to what others have said. We had a hard standing fully serviced pitch amongst the statics - very quiet when we stayed, but as mentioned by others the bins were overflowing. We were disappointed that the local pub did not serve food (it was open but very quiet and don't think it will be there much longer) but delighted that a mobile van selling fish and chips visited the site the Saturday evening we were there. Well situated for local attractions we visited Eden Camp and Malton was a nice surprise - pretty market square and independent shops.

We had a lovely week at this site, yes the toilets are a bit far from the tent field but this was only a problem when needed in the middle if the night.

The facilities are a little dated but did the job fine. The staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The children loved the play area and spent a lot of time up there.

My only moan was it was very busy (school holidays and bank holiday) and other campers were very load with music and talking loud very late at night and early in the morning so I will now look fir a quieter site. This is my personal choice and nothing against the site itself.

We stayed here Fri-Mon at the beginning of July this year. We used the facility of having electric hook-up with our tent.

We have an Outwell Hartford which only just fit in the pitch markers but it did fit which is what matters! We liked the fact that we could park our van right next to the tent which a lot of sites don't allow.

The toilet and shower block are a little way from the tents and I can understand that this might be difficult with small children but it was no problem for us.

We took our large dog with us and enjoyed the walking around the site, the local village (Malton I think) is only 6 miles by car. We visited York as well which wasn't too far by car.

We had the pitch next to the bin and water point which was overflowing by the time we left on Monday, not the sites fault I realise but the site wasn't even that full so it might be a bigger issue if there are even more people staying there.

The fact that there is a shop on site was useful in case you run out of milk etc and the people that run the site are very friendly and we liked the fact that the quiet time was enforced by the owners.

Stayed for 2 nights over the weekend.

Would recommend this caravan site to couples and families - it was clean, tidy and quiet, the play area is great and safe, it's by a main road but still has the feeling of out in the open.

It's a great location For Castle Howard, York, Malton and flamingo land this is a great base.

Only bad point, the village of Slingsby, the local pub was not open and is up for sale, so no local within walking distance.

Would recommend Castle Howard as an attraction to visit, the house and grounds are very good value for money.
