First visit to this site, and would definitely return. Lovely setting, there is a slight slope on the tent field but not bad - we were sited at the bottom with an EHU.
The only criticism we had was of the showers - which were too hot, to the point of being scaldingly hot, with no temperature control. We had our two year old daughter with us, but it was much too hot for her to have a shower.
A special mention goes to the local pub - the Grapes I think it is called. We ate there twice and the food was absolutely great both times - good wholesome home made food, including home made chips !
It was Easter weekend and the site was surprisingly quiet with only about 10 tents. Maybe the weather put some people off as unluckily, we were in one of the parts of the country that didn't have good weather, and it was very, very cold at night even with an electric heater.
There is a playground for children which looks new and certainly kept our daughter entertained - it is good as it situated at the top of the field, so you can keep your eye on them if needed.
Scarborough is nearby and worth a visit - good beach and lots of good cafes
As said, would return and therefore can recommend the site, and if they can get the water temperature adjusted, then it would deserve full marks. The local pub definitely gets full marks - and I didn't even mention the real ale !

We have just returned from our 3rd visit to the Robin Hood, and will definitely be returning again. The owners have made significant improvements to the park during the winter, we were on one of the new touring pitches at the top. Very spacious and close to the new play area which the kids loved.
Thanks for a great stay and we will see you soon.

We think this site is great and since finding it return each year. We have already booked for this year as we have been unable to get an electric hookup previously due to leaving it too late. We go out most days from the site so mainly use it as a base but have no problems with the 'little walk' to the toilets / shower bloke. The pub in the village is also a nice little walk away and as our dog comes camping with us, she enjoys the walk. On the subject of dogs this is the only campsite I've camped on and not seen any dog 'deposits' left unpicked up.
Bins are provided for this. I think it's a really clean campsite and have never seen any problems with showers / toilets although a couple more would be better. Also the Pickering Steam Rally is a great time to go. It's huge and a great day out for adults and children.

I thought this was a pleasant site situated close to a picturesque village. The site has a mix of statics, tourers and furthest away from the facilities is the tent field, a shame as its the tent users that need most frequent use of them.
The site was well maintained during my stay with nice clean toilets / shower area. The tent field at least seems to be well drained with no signs of mud despite heavy rain prior and during our visit.
The site wasn't busy so was reasonably quiet, although it is quite a large site so I would imagine this could change at times of more demand. The site also accepts single night weekend bookings, which not all do.
The village has a nice pub in the centre, about 10 min walk from the site and also a small shop just outside one of the entrances.
The pub does meals but was very busy the night we went and they were having trouble seating everyone. There is another campsite in the village as well so the pub does seem to get quite full from early on. Children were welcome.
I enjoyed my stay and will return if I'm ever back in that area. My only criticism is the distance to the toilet block from the tent field, especially after a night in the pub. It is a 5 minute walk.

First time visiting this site.
There was not many people on site which made it a quiet weekend. The toilets were basic however well maintained, could have done with being cleaned more regular. The mens toilets seem to be more clean than the womens.
The field where the tents were was very far from the toilets not ideal.
The shop was basic and the opening times were not the best, staff were very friendly. The play area for the kids was great.
It was also a bonus that you could book to go on this site.
We will be definitely going back to this site again.

Used as a point to go to the proms we found the site to be nice and friendly. It was very wet but hey its summer and had lashed it down for a week. The pitches for hard standing were fine brick standing, grass awning with services to the pitch.
The toilets however are not very good, 2 showers that are used by a lot of people. They did not look very clean but it was muddy and wet so it was going to happen. The block is very basic but does the job, if anything they need updating to a modern standard. It seems this part of the site has been missed as the site has a lot of static homes and the need for WC is not needed.
No complaints a peaceful site with friendly people , easy to get to and has a nice village 10 yards outside of the main gate.
The staff were helpful and friendly and will be back next year for the same event. It's a good area and good site that provides what is needed for an event just down the road.

We have just enjoyed a really wet weekend at Robin Hood. It was a small site with basic facilities – but everything we needed. We found the site to be clean and tidy – there was a lot of grass in the toilets but I don’t think cut grass and rain mix too well and it was swept out regularly. Having read the comments about the showers prior to our visit we were aware that they could be cold at certain times of the day but we didn’t have any problems with them at all. Having spoken to the people in reception about these reviews they did tell us that they were aware of the comments – but hadn’t had any complaints made to them. There are only 2 showers (each in mens and ladies) which doesn’t seem many for the number of guests but we didn’t have to queue at all. The walk from the tent field to the toilets blocks is only a couple of minutes – we know of worse – so we couldn’t complain about that. It was great to not be crammed into the field like sardines. There was plenty of space for the kids to play. And we got to pick our own pitch which makes a change.
The location of the site is perfect – we had a lovely day out at Flamingoland which took us about 20 minutes to get to. We will definitely use the site again.

Site was well kept except for some pot holes in road. Kids running around until late in the evening. Shop was only open a couple of hours in morning and afternoon. Toilets left a lot to be desired, no toilet roll and leaking toilets.
Village shop was good.

This was our very first camping experience, and chose the Robin hood Campsite as it was small and quiet. After spending a long weekend there, we unfortunately came away with mixed feelings. On a positive note, we were pleasantly surprised about it's picturesque location. Slingsby is an immaculate village, (as are all the surrounding villages / towns). It was lovely and peaceful, and perfect for finding our camping-feet! The tent-only field was in perfect condition with just a gentle slope, making pitching easy. It has electric hook-up points at the bottom of the field, but the rest is free-pitch. There is a play area for children in the second field, (but a tad on the small side!) On the down side, it was an awfully long walk to the wc / shower block, with the tent field being the furthest away, (a little odd seeing as all the caravans who have their own facilities are much nearer!) I would describe the shower / toilet block as 'reasonably' clean. Shower cubicles could have been cleaner, but then there are only two showers available for a lot of people! On two occasions, there was absolutely no hot water - disappointing after a hot night in a tent, and again, the evening after. Arriving on Friday at noon, the site looked much better than when we left on Sunday. By then, all the rubbish bins available were overflowing, and not by just a little. Not a pretty sight, and did spoil an otherwise pleasant view. All this said, we did enjoy the weekend. Some good qualities if you're looking for a quiet spot, but could improve on a number of points. Beware also of being mislead by the 'Days Out' section on the website - a few distances for 'local attractions' are way out, and much further away if you take the trouble to look on a map. Just as well we took the car then!

Had a great weekend at this site. Weather was perfect. Only our second time camping as a family. It is perfect as a base for visiting the surrounding area. Only a couple of showers in the gents and the water was cool by 0930Hrs. Imagine it gets extremely busy at peak periods. The pitch was very pleasant however us campers are defo the second class citizens. Furthest from the toilets and showers, bin skip not emptied (Overflowing sat morning). My main frustration was the fact I rang Fri Morning to ask for an EHU. I was told they were all booked. On arrival and throughout the weekend, there were obviously EHU available and many of the tents pitched there did not seem to be using them? Would recommend this site for its location. We visited EDEN Camp. Great day out (Probably not for under 8Yrs.)
