Had 1 night on site whilst touring Yorkshire Moors and Coast. Very pleasant site and good location with a gate opening directly into the village where there is a small shop and a pub serving food.

The down side for anyone without their own facilities was that there was only 2 showers for each sex and with around 60 pitches I think they would get very busy in season.

We'll add it to out list of sites to revisit but only as we have a toilet and shower in the van.

An overnight stay with my young son and daughter, where we met up and stayed beside my sister and her family from Scotland. We turned up unannounced and were made very welcome.

A beautiful site to reflect a beautiful area of England.

The site is well laid out with a large pitch area, which was very popular. Good facilities, including toilet/shower block and dish washing and a reasonably sized play area for the kids.

Nearby is the village of Malton, a rural market town with reasonable facilities. York is within reach, as is the coast and seaside town of Whitby.

A very pleasant stay.

Just arrived back after spending 2 nights and 3 days on site. Well signposted. Easy access. Welcomed at reception. Shown map of site and area to pitch. We had EHU. No problems at all. Approx another 10 tents on site. Static park seemed busy.
Toilets and showers were clean and showers free to use. Will be going back as perfect base for many attractions including the local pub.! site well maintained. Grass cut whilst we were on site. Bins empty and site reasonably lit at night

Just come back from a two night (Fri. - Sun.) stay at this excellent site. The site is in a very good location near to the York. Moors Ntl. Pk. And so many other tourist attractions.

I stayed with my wife and two young children (5 & 7). My children were in their element running around the open spaces at the camp. There is a very good children's playground that is clearly well-maintained and safe for young children to use.

There is a very casual and carefree atmosphere at this site, where as long as you don't abuse the facilities or annoy fellow campers you will have no problems. Just the ticket when all that you want to do is get away from it all.

The only negative thing that I would say about Robin Hood is that the toilets, showers and washing-up area are about a three minute walk from the main camping field. However this is compensated by the fact that these facilities are pristine with plenty of free hot water.

All said, I would have no hesitation in recommending this site to my fellow camper. Enjoy yourself!

The campsite was split into three sections; the first section you came to when you drove in was the tent field, EHU at the bottom and the others round the side and the top with a big space in the middle for the kids to play. The next section behind some trees was the touring caravans and then down a hill was the static caravan area, shop and the facility block. It seemed a bit silly to have the toilets, showers and washing up facilities right away from the tents and tourers - it seems to take an age when your running down from your tent in the middle of the night dying for a wee!
The toilets and showers were great and it was always hot in the block. There's even some sinks in cubicles with lockable doors which is a nice bit of privacy when brushing your teeth. The shop is basic but covers your baseline needs when camping i.E milk, disposable bbqs and alcohol!
In the top left hand of the tent field is the children's playground which was lovely for my daughter to play in although not so good when you could hear the older children whizzing up and down the little bank to get to and from the park until about 10.30pm when your trying to get a toddler to sleep.
We didn't visit the village itself but we did visit Pickering and Malton while we were there as they were not a long drive away and we found a nice pizza shop there too!

Overall a nice site with friendly owners in the middle of Yorkshire which we will be visiting again sometime soon.

Very warm welcome given at reception, good size level pitch. Site has a great playground for the children but and this is a big but the toilets are a 7 minute walk away from the tent pitches. That doesn't sound long but when you have to get up for a wee at 3am and there aren't many lights it's a very long time.
Only 2 showers for ladies, although clean you could not alter the temperature. Two washing up sinks (both without plugs) for the whole site. Spoke to a lot of people who said they wouldn't come again to the site because of the lack of toilets / washing up areas. Owners need to address this to get people to come back.

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at this site. Generally a good clean site, well looked after with plenty of flowers and trees making an attractive setting. The touring fields looked well spaced, the tent field was a little busier you can pitch where you want which means when its busy its a bit cramped but still ok. The playground looked new and kept our 2 children (10 & 5) entertained though I would say its best suited to 8yrs and below.

The tent field is on a slight slope but nothing major and we managed fine. The toilet block is a bit of a walk from the tent field, previous reviews quoted the owner as saying its 3 mins however with a 5yr old in tow its more like 10 mins which is a problem when they are desperate! The toilet block is probably where this site lets itself down, we were there for 3 nights and there was no soap in the loos at any time during our stay. It was also quite dark as most of the light bulbs had gone and not been replaced. However they were generally clean most of the time.

The pot washing area seems to be an afterthought, 2 grubby looking sinks behind the loos- not ideal. The site also has a busy road running past it which was very noisy at night, which we were surprised at as other reviews hadn't mentioned it and also when we went along the road ourselves there was hardly any traffic -Bizarre! ear plugs or plenty of alcohol will solve the problem!

The site is well located for touring the area, Pickering and Helmsley are not far and Castle Howard is a five minute drive and well worth a visit. Also Whitby and Scarborough are close enough to drive to.

The site shop is small with the essential milk bread bacon and a few camping supplies, we got a new gas bottle for a reasonable £2. You can freeze your ice packs for free. The site charges £2 per night for gazebos - no mention of this on their website or when booking but a large sign in reception announces this extra charge.

All in all not a bad site, with a few improvements to the toilets could be a really good one

A brilliant base for a long weekend.

We had a camper van and small tent, and saw one other in the top field. A very quiet weekend!

Whilst the site itself is well maintained and organised and we had more or less exclusive use of facilities, I wondered if 2 showers for men and 2 for women and 2 dish washing sinks would cope with a flood of visitors, especially given that the static owners may sneak in and use them.

Regrettably, the toilets etc., and the sinks had clearly not been cleaned, and all the bins were full to busting, probably from the May Day Monday. I hope this was a one-off, since other reviews differ.

The pub is a short walk with good beer, and pub grub is from the bag and microwave except for grills.

This is a pleasant site, with a large well cut tent field that included EHU along one side of the field, gently sloping but hardly noticeable.

At the top end of the field there is a wooden play area, which the kids loved. Clean shower/toilet block and pot wash area, however this is the downside for the tents, as it is quite a walk. The owner stated that she had timed the walk to 3 minutes, however when you are desperate to go to the loo, it seems longer!

The site is in the village of Slingsby with a pub, The Grapes, a short walk away. The market town of Malton is 10 minutes drive away, other local towns/attractions include Castle Howard and Pickering, where the North York Moors steam railway is based (the other end of the line is Goathland and Gromont, where they film 'Heartbeat')

A very neat and child friendly site.

What a difference a year makes! We visited this site last year and were surprised with the changes that have gone on since our last vist.

The playarea has completely changed and has moved nearer to the tents. Its perfect for my sons - 3 and 6. It now has swings for toddlers and older children and there is a bouncing motorbike that corey loved. The site is very child family - plenty of room for them to run about - this site doesn't cram people in like some others do over a bank holiday.

The new lighting down the bottom of the road makes it easier getting to the loos at night. Could still do with some down the walkway from the tents - remember to take a torch!

The toilet block was kept clean despite the number of people using the site. Quite a lot of grass at times but rain and cut grass is never a good mix. Don't think you can do much about it - maybe put a brush in the toilet blocks and someone may help out.

There is a lovely pub in the village - I think its called The Grapes - we had a lovely Sunday Lunch there def all homecooked at reasonable prices. There is also a restaurant Lowrys but apparently its best to book but as we hadn't we didn't bother. The village was fab - scarecrow weekend and Maypole dancing - another great thing for the kids. I'd love to know who won. I know the couple that run the site read these messages so if you could let us know I'd be really chuffed.

We had a lovely time - we will be back!
