A lovely spacious site, rural surroundings but within walking distance of very pleasant town. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. There are two large amenity blocks. Unfortunately one had no hot water due to a boiler problem which caused occasional waits for a shower, but we were warned about this when booking. Definitely plan to return. Hertford has lots of restaurants, mostly chains but we particularly liked Rigsbys in St Andrews Street for something a bit different.

Recently stayed at this site it ticked all the boxes. The wardens were very helpful and nothing seemed to be a trouble. Hertford is within 15 mins walk and had everything you would need ie supermarkets coffee shops and dog friendly pubs! Perfect for a trip I to London either by train or car. This is a large site and it handled the busy weekend very well. Toilets and showers always clean with plenty of hot water, The only comment I would make is that some new shower trays in the ladies showers should be considered. We will definitely use the site again.

Excellent few days at this site with 5 children, plenty of space for them to play and explore in, excellent toilet/shower facilities, big open spaces and lovely tall trees. Very friendly staff and we were kindly taken to a pitch that we were able to choose. Great little shop which the kids loved for daily sweet trips.

To Find Site:- Leave A10 onto A414 towards Herford. After first roundabout watch for brown camping sign and take slip road to left and bear left into Mangrove road. Continue past school on left and follow road for about half a mile to the site. The entire road on the approach to the site is quite narrow so care is required. On Sundays perhaps best not to arrive too close the midday departure to avoid meeting units leaving site.
The Hertford C&CC site is quite large with around 250 pitches with quite a rustic feel about it. The site is open all year and non-members are accepted. There is a mix of hardstanding and mainly grass pitches. The hardstanding pitches are narrow so only room for unit and awning but not car. The pitches are set out in two main sections each with its own toilet block. Pitches are allocated on arrival although the site managers will take into account of any personal requirements if that is possible although that does not quite explain why we were directed to the back of the site when there was plenty of room elsewhere. There are a number of seasonal units on the site which to my mind don’t add to the ambiance! The toilet blocks are of a good standard although I suspect they could struggle if the site was full. The only chemical disposal points are at the toilet blocks so a long walk from many of the pitches. Whilst water points are dotted around the site there really needs to be more of them as again it is a long water to collect and dispose of grey water waste from many of the pitches. I am still not a fan of having the drinking water taps and the waste rinsing taps in the same place. The motorhome service point is tucked away behind reception but it does have a full width drain point. Electric points are rated at 16amps and use CEE17 blue connectors, given the way the site is laid out a long lead might be required in some parts. The only rubbish disposal is at the entrance to the site. There is site wide Wi-Fi and time can be purchased online or at reception. I found it quite reasonable speed wise during our stay. For children there is an adventure style playground and quite a large kick about area. Reception sells a few essentials. Storage is also available on this site.
The town of Hertford is either a short car ride away or a 20/25 minute walk. There is no bus service within the immediate vicinity of the site but there are both a bus and train station in the town. Obviously the site could be used as a base for many excursions within the local area as well as by train to London, although perhaps not so good for those without or preferring not to use their own transport. For food shopping the nearest is an M&S Simply food at the end of the footpath into the town however, there is also a Waitrose, Sainsbury and Tesco within walking distance of the town centre

We use this site as a stop over on the way home from up north. Friendly staff. A big site with plenty of facilities. This year felt the showers/ toilets were looking run down and were disappointed generally with there appearance. Would use the site again for a overnight stop but wouldn't use it any longer than that.

We have just returned from a lovely week at the Hertford C&CC site. We have visited this site a few times over the last 3 or 4 years and it's improving all the time. This year the Club appears to have been hard at work and introduced 3 pre pitched posh glamping type tents, they have added a load more electric pitches in the far field, put railings around the pond area and replaced / improved the play area. All positive improvements to an already very good site. This year they appear to have new wardens, all very friendly. They are on hand all the time but not over-powering. The wash rooms are still in very good order and always clean, if I had to be critical I would say that the showers could do with a bit of a re-vamp as the shower trays are chipped and marked and there is nowhere to put you shampoo / soap once behind the screen - don't let this minor gripe put you off visiting the site though.
The grass pitches are pretty flat, a few undulations but nothing terrible that would cause any significant issues with tents or awnings.
TV reception was reasonable on the caravans antenna, a few adjustments needed to pick up the stations we wanted. Mobile phone reception was also fine.
Overall, a great site that we will continue to visit.

We left it late to book a few nights away over the late May bank holiday weekend and this was one of the few sites showing availability. It wasn't somewhere we would normally have visited but we are so glad that there was availability and we shall return!
Lovely friendly and efficient welcome, help getting onto a pitch that was surrounded by shrubs making life a little difficult and the offer of help for when we left, which we didn't need.
We were pitched on Piccadilly Circus, a misnomer! Really quiet, so peaceful, the only sounds in the evenings were the birds. A torch was useful for avoiding the rabbits at night.
Facilities were ample and clean as always on club sites but it was the feeling of space on site that really impressed, even though it was fully booked for the weekend there was more than enough space for everyone and plenty of space for children to play and enjoy themselves without being a nuisance to those who prefer not to hear them! The site is large and flat and is well maintained. The showers were to my delight normal free flowing showers and not a push button in sight. Bliss.
We enjoyed the cycling around the locality and RSPB Rye Meads is well worth a visit.
We're looking forward to making many more discoveries on return visits.

Check in was very quick and easy and we were escorted to our pitch by a friendly warden.
The site is situated just outside the county town so very convenient for local supermarkets /shops /railway station etc. It is a very pleasant site and we have stayed here for weekends on quite a few occasions in the past. It is very well kept and it's a pleasure to walk around.
The showers/toilet block are kept clean and the facilities are very good.

A very tidy, flat, pleasant site with immacuately maintained facilities. We camped with family and enjoyed outstanding weather and pleasant surroundings. On the downside, we didn't find it great for the children (we have 3 children between 5 & 9; plus another baby and a 5 year old in our group). For instance the gentleman managing the shop 'shusshing' 5 excited children whilst they chose their ice creams on a hot Sunday afternoon betrayed a broader feeling that the site is a little too 'uptight'. This also manifested itself through other interactions with the staff. In summary: pleasant site, nice facilities - but not for children.
