We have just returned from a four night stay at this site and had a lovely time. The site staff were extremely helpful on arrival very pleasant and chatty. We were shown as always on a club site to our pitch and directed where to pitch the van. The site was reasonably quiet for the time of year, however I would think in busy periods you would still have a sense of space as it is very spacious with different fields and a separate tenting area. The toilet blocks as always were spotless and when one was being cleaned the other was always open for use. Our children didn't bother with the play area, although there was one but nothing special just a swing and slide. We followed the directions to the site from the camping and caravanning club book however we did miss the site because the directions put a big emphasis on passing the fire station, which we completely missed as it is set back from the road with an elevated car park in front, so just beware of that. We used the site as a base for visiting London which was great, the train from Hertford East goes every half hour and a day travelcard to include the tube and bus cost us £32 for a family of four which was great value and the journey took approx 50mins to London Liverpool street although on the direction of the lady in the ticket office we got off the train at Tottenham Hale and changed to the tube, it would be possible to walk to the station which is downhill, however the walk back is all uphill and the road to the site is not well lit with no pathway nearer the site, for this reason we chose to drive down and found a little car park near Tesco (baker St) where we could leave the car all day for just £4.20 which again we felt was very reasonable. We didn't actually go into Hertford town centre as we had days out to Southend and Windsor all within easy reach. I would definitely recommend this site to couples, families or singles who were looking to find a good base for visiting the capital. If you like busy sites with plenty going on though, this won't be the site for you as generally it was very quiet and relaxing.

Stayed over a saturday night in October, but have stayed previously in summer. Lovely site with a lot of space. At this time of year one of the toilet blocks was closed, but they told us at time of booking. It is a large site, with a nice shady tent field, a rally field and quite a few unpowered sites at the far end of the site. Friendly wardens.
Hertford is a nice town with plenty of pubs and places to eat, around a 20 minute walk away. If you're going in the dark, the first 200-300 metres from the campsite has no lights or pavement, but there is a grass verge, so it's fairly safe.
Could be a good site for visiting London on two train lines (Hertford North to Kings Cross, Hertford East to Liverpool Street).
Would recommend it, will visit again.

This is a lovely spacious site with lots of trees and shelter. You can pick where you put your tent and we chose a spot by a little lake. The site was very quiet and well run with friendly staff. Very clean shower and toilet facilities with plenty of capacity even for peak periods (apparently they won a 'loo of the year' award). Hertford is a pretty town just a short walk away - the river runs through the old town and there are lots of little picturesque backwaters to explore. Definitely a place to return to.

Beautiful site - loads of space and great walks for dog in local area. We have used this several times for going into London and there are trains every half hour. You can park right outside, dead easy! Warden really friendly also. I liked the country feel to this - it is a beautiful setting. We drove to have a look at Waltham Abbey a bit closer into London but the Hertford site is far more attractive - that looked tatty and incredibly noisy by the M25.

Love this place go there all the time. No issues with large tents and no problem for late booking if not requiring EHU. Toilets always spotless and warm showers, but if the site is quiet they will shut the furthest one but they do tell you before you pitch too far away. Small onsite shop with basics but Hertford has a large variety of shops/pubs etc. There is a folder with info on Pubs in the vicinity and book etc to burrow.
Very friendly staff and quiet after 11.

Once the busy Friday afternoon roads of Hertford were successfully negotiated and we were delighted to find the site was well away from any major roads, so nice and quiet.
The site seemed quite large and divided up into smaller areas with different types of camping available, hard standing, grass, electric and not etc.
As seems to be the norm with Camping and Caravanning Club sites (well at least those we have visited so far) the facilities were spotless and the only criticism I could make is that the nearest block to us did have a notice advising of the closing time during the day for cleaning, which also stated to use alternative facilities during that time - would have been nice if that same notice pointed you in the direction of the alternative.
On the whole we had a great time, and will be going here again soon.

Just returned from a 3 night stay over bank holiday weekend. Facilities lovely and clean (quite miraculous considering the amount of rain). Staff very friendly and helpful.
We had a grass pitch and although ground was soggy and plenty of puddles to be seen, no problems manoeuvring vehicle. Nice area to play ball games, 11 and 8 year old sons quite happy and always seeemed to be a football match to start or get involved in. A few pieces of play equipment also available and area large enough for smaller children not to be frightened by footballs. No ball games allowed close to units - staff friendly when enforcing this rule.
Hertford a nice walk away - use footpaths (not signed posted) left hand side of road that campsite is on, then when you get a choice of two-ways appear to go back on yourself (leads to valley rd), cross road and pick up footpath through churchyard and then subway into Hertford. Went on a Sunday (mostly closed) but nice wander around old castle gardens. Visited galleria shopping centre (factory outlet shopping centre). Very impressive centre and cinema complex (didn't use so cannot comment) but beware parking with high vehicle didn't seem to be possible at actual shopping centre because of low barriers - no warning signs either. Tescos closeby for supermarket needs - small shop on site adequate but not extensive.

Had planned to stay there just 1 night as a stopover but ended up being there for 3 and would have liked to stay longer. Lovely site, nice and clean and well situated for walking into the town ( about 20 mins ) which was very pleasant. Found the staff helpful and friendly, will return when next down that way.

We had a lovely stay at this site, toilet blocks where very clean and tidy , on site shop was small but could get by and a fair price too, sports fieldwasOKnice size camping areas and plenty of space, well run and organised. Local town close by (within walking distance), was quite pricey for the pitch but all in all recommended .

This is a great site - we really love the "Rally Field" as you can pitch wherever you wish and there is loads of room for our children to play freely. Shower and toilet blocks are very good with ample toilets, although another shower (or two) wouldn't go amiss! Will definitely be returning.
