We visited this site on the bank holiday week in August the site at first glimpse looked ok. We were told to pitch where we wanted on entering the field we noticed wooden boards down as the field was mud bound and boggy and very difficult to drive on getting stuck a couple of times.

By the time we left at the end of weekend it was very wet and muddy that the other gate had to be opened. The area the site was situated in was good for walking and local attractions eg white scar caves etc.

We found that the toilet blocks were very basic, shocking very dirty, full of cobwebs, lack of privacy as the toilet window was not fully frosted. In fact they were that bad that we didn't used them at all washed in our tents and used a bucket for a toilet.

We would not recommend this site to families, probably good for walkers.

Had 3 nights at Dalesbridge for the jubilee bank holiday. Staff very welcoming, helpful and useful. Lots of local info. Free freezer block freezing which was great.

Plenty of places to put tent, ground flat and litter free, children much entertained by the cows watching us put up the tent. No play equipment but plenty of space for ball/ frisbee games.

We often had to queue for showers/toilet/dishwasing facilities, but all generally clean, showers not well enough drained and often a major puddle after a few people had been in.

Cars parked by tents, which I personally dislike but some like so just a personal preference.

Lots of visitor attractions locally, we enjoyed the caves and found local shops including Daleswear in Ingleton very useful for camping essentials.

On a long bank holiday weekend I expected this site to be busy with families and groups so I have taken this into consideration with my review.

Some elements of Dalesbridge are really well thought out, such as the website, online booking system and reception desk but other elements need an overhaul.

The shower blocks are tired and need a good deep clean and whilst the extra toilet block was in use, the sink plug was broken in the ladies making hand washing nigh on impossible. The washing up facilities were adequate but again the hot water tap didn't turn off making washing up difficult.

The site is flat which is a bonus and there was enough space between pitches, most campers were generally friendly and considerate of others. Other reviews have mentioned loud noisy groups but whilst I was there the murmur had settled down by 11.30pm and only the rumble of snoring could be heard.

The site is ideally located for visiting Ingleborough, Clapham, Settle, Skipton and 'that Lancashire' but if you are wanting an idyllic location watching dandelion clocks blowing on the breeze, I'd choose another site.

Just got home from a wet bank holiday weekend (good old british weather ) at dalesbridge.

The campsite was very clean and we pitched our tent on the front field, as people have pointed out you could hear the traffic a little but it didn't bother me at all.

There are 8 showers with toilets and I did not have to queue once ! The showers were cleaned every day but think could be updated as struggled to get dry on the wet floor and was quite cramped.

We did go to the pub but we ordered 6 halves of coke and lemonade and 2 pints which came to £14. 50, it was nice to go to the pub and mingle but the site really let themselves down by charging these prices.

Would recommend for families, nice site but would probably not go again.

Just spent Easter weekend here, reception friendly and helpful. The site is located very well to enjoy the Dales but a distance away from any shops, about 4 miles to Settle.

Although the site is tidy enough the facilities were basic, which I wouldn't normally object to, except for the price which I found very expensive.

We originally planned to have our daughters friend stay with us, luckily she couldn't make it as it would have been an extra £4 per night taking the price per night to £29. 50! for 2 adults 2 children and a dog with hook up the awning was extra. We've paid this before but for swimming pool luxury toilets/showers and play area etc.

The toilet, sink and shower are in individual units, but unisex which means following men into the toilets (need I say more) I had to clean the toilet with the brush almost every visit.

Maybe an idea for improvement would be to separate ladies and mens toilets, and reconsider the price per night.

We have just spent a rainy two night stay in one of the bunk houses and I have to say it made a nice change from a tent. The howling 60mph wind and rain would have made our stay in a tent very uncomfortable.

The staff at the site are extremely helpful and are always on hand to help out, Jackie, who we dealt with mainly is an absolute star, nothing was too much trouble, Jackie and the rest of the team went out of their way to accommodate us.

The toilet and shower blocks are more than adequate as are the pot washing facilities.

The site is well maintained throughout which makes for a pleasant stay no matter what the weather.

The local village of Austwick is a 10 minute walk away where you will find the one and only local pub, closed on Monday's but open the rest of the week for fine ales and fine food.

There is one shop/post office but be warned it is rather expensive to shop there so a shopping trip into Settle 4 miles away may be a better option.

Overall we had a fantastic time and met some great people, we will definitely be going back.

Dalebridge is not a campsite you go to for a quiet camping experience. It is for families and groups. Although most people will quiet down at 11:00, there is still a murmuring of noise. We chose Dalebridge because of it being family friendly and having a pub to hide in if the weather turned. We have a nice evening playing cards because it had rained on our BBQ.

There are plenty of toilet and shower facilities, though they are not the cleanest and flip flop are a must to shower in. You also have to preform a bit of a dancing act getting your jeans after a shower, while trying not to get them wet on the waterlogged floor. The showers lack space and also could do with a window that didn't allow people to see in.

We liked to site and would go back. It is an ideal place to explore the surrounding area. There is a lovely restaurant is Auswick called the Game Cock, but you have to book. We have a lovely time. The only really moan is that booking the site was a pain, they charge for each individual this. £4 a tent, £5 per person £1. 50 for a baby. It made it quite expensive. 2 adults 1 baby 1 tent £15. 50.

We visited Dalesbridge for 3 nights over the recent May bank holiday (27th - 29th) as a base for walking the Yorkshire 3 Peaks.

The site is ideally suited for walking and is close to Skipton, Hawes and a number of lovely small towns which is great for raining days!

The site was quite noisy at night but generally clean and the staff were helpful.

2 criticisms of the site:

Not enough toilets or showers as there always seemed to be queues

No marked pitches on the fields - this was great for the groups of families and friends that wanted to camp next to each other but made it awkward to find a pitch and ended up with tents pitched guy-to-guy with ours when there was loads of space elsewhere in the field!

To be honest I wouldn't stay there again for the above reasons but definitely not a bad site for families.

We were pleased to find the site had space for our tent over the mayday bank holiday.

The location of the site is really nice.

However there are two negatives to consider before a visit :

There are not enough toilets and showers when the site is busy. The queues in the morning were awful!

The site is very close to the main road and the traffic noise is very noticeable!

We loved the area but regrettably the facilities mean that we would not visit the site again.

This is the second time we have been to this site, the first time was in May of 2010, as it is so close to all the great places to walk.

The nearest main shops and town are in Settle, 10 mins in the car and there is a pretty decent fish and chip shop there as well if you want that sort of thing, although the site does allow BBQ's as well.

There is no allocation of pitches so you can really choose where you want to go, but then so can other people, so you may go out for the day and come back to find someone pitched v very close as happened to us despite the huge field.

The site has lots of space for tents, and both times we have stayed we were in the field, however because the site has space there is always a queue for the showers of at least 10 mins. Don't leave it to last minute to go to the toilets as this is also the same queue, because the toilets and showers are in the same cubicles. The showers are basic, free and are not always hot either -i resorted to going very early, but it is just as good to shower later(after 10am)to get hot water too.

The settle loop for walking or cycling is a great one to try and is a circular walk/cycle.

Despite this site having the potential to be noisy, and knowing it always has queues to shower/use the toilet/washup, we do like this site a lot and will be back for a 3rd time, (possibly to hire a cabin next and take our bikes).
