I would strongly urge people to ignore previously left bad feed back.
I went with my family over Easter and was welcomed shown around the site and taken to my pitch by the site owner he was helpful and easy going.
The pitches are spacious and flat and the shower/toilet were clean and spacious too.
I would definitely return to this site

We were looking for somewhere not too far just for an overnight stop to try out our new motorhome. I booked here as it looked really peaceful and had lovely scenic roads for our journey. I rang and booking was really easy, Told to pay on arrival. I then later read the reviews and thought it was a bad move, But thought its only one night. We arrived and the views outside the pub were beautiful. Booking in at reception was easy, We were shown all the facilities and the land lady called her husband to show us to our pitch. They noticed I was using crutches and put us as near to the facilities as she could.
We sat along the canal and shared a bottle of wine watching the boats. We then went back to our camp and had no bother what so ever. The toilets were a little dated but clean. The staff in the pub were really friendly. I look forward to another visit very soon.

No welcoming smiles here. When we arrived we were given our pitch number and that was it. The 'shop' was never open. The washing machine and drier were being used by one of the workmen. The toilets and showers were badly in need of re-furbishment and I never saw them cleaned. The only positive points are that the water was hot and the site itself was large and peaceful. The people running the place however were so hostile that we left after just one day even though we had paid for two.

We have just returned from a visit to our friends who are pitched on this site for the summer and think some of these comments are unjust.
The toilet/shower block was damaged in the floods and is now in need of some TLC but, the facilities are clean where it matters and the water is always hot. Mops and buckets are provided to clean up the shower cubicle after you're done. There are sites with more modern facilities but at twice the price. Camping/touring is about making the best of what you've got - all part of it.
The site is lovely, quiet and flat. There are no marked pitches as such.
We had no dealings with the owners ourselves as our friends had already booked us in - in the proper fashion, giving details of our car registration etc. Therefore no need for any confrontation or misunderstanding.
We had a lovely relaxed weekend, the children could run where they liked in safety - there is a very strict 5mph policy and it is adhered to.
There are laundry and washing up facilities and a good sized disabled toilet/shower room.
All in all, everything you need in a beautiful location and you can fish for free too.
We would definitely go back.

What a lovely location for a pub and caravan site.
Quite reasonable prices.
What an unfriendly and unhelpful attitude from the owner!
Everything, even taking our money (which could only be in cash, with no receipt. ) was too much trouble.
Why bother running such a business if you dislike it so much?
On a different note, I was surprised to hear loud rave music apparently coming from a caravan on the adjacent site. How would anyone have the nerve to do such a thing?
On having a drink outside the pub, all was revealed when a very loud party boat passed by from Tewkesbury to Gloucester!

We have visited this camp site before in 2007, just after the floods. We were informed then we could only stay a minimum of 3 nights, but when we arrived there was hardly anyone on the field. This time I don't think there was a minimum time period but stayed 2 nights. As we had been just after the floods, and the whole place was a mess understandably, we expected it to have been improved, but it still looked the same, maybe they had given it a lick of paint in the toilet block. The concrete floor was still a mess, with parts missing. The toilets are old and grubby, I didn't see anyone clean them while we were there. Only four toilets were in use although there were about eight, but there was a big sign not to use the others for some reason. The showers aren't much better, but they are free with hot water.
The greeting is very unfriendly, like they don't want you there. Also when serving in the bar, you are met with a hostile reception, it is too much effort for them to be friendly, even though we tried. It was also off-putting that the male owner had his shirt open down to his waist serving beer and scratching while serving. I would never eat here. The food is basic, not as advertised on the website.
Having said all the negatives, there are positives, the field is very large with plenty of space, but you are not allowed to go to the edge unless you want hook-ups, which we were firmly told on arrival, with a list of other rules. The setting is lovely, as the pub is situated over the road from the river and they have nice picnic benches on the edge. You can walk to another pub called Haw Bridge, which has a beer garden and food, it is about 1. 5 miles along the road. The one road is quite busy, but the pub has a nice setting on the river. We tried to walk along the river path, but it is all overgrown in parts, so no good for walking at night. This camp site could be a gold mine if taken over by someone else and renovated, otherwise I wouldn't go again.

Site location lovely.
Unfortunately that was all that is lovely about this site.
Toilet block not brilliant, full of cobwebs, tiny little bit of pink soap in basin, how much does a couple of pump dispensers of soap cost, not a lot.
We have been caravanning for over 25 years and never been treated this badly. Booked in and paid for 5 nights and asked if we wanted to extend our stay if we could. We were told that was fine. We went to pay for the extra 2 nights and were told our pitch had been given away and we would have to pack up and leave the camp site by 12 noon, this was 11. 00 am so not a lot of time to pack up and go. Would have been polite if we had been advised of this earlier in the morning. Found it hard to believe as the site was two thirds empty so surely even if we had to move, I am sure there must have been a vacant pitch somewhere on a site that size. We are quiet middle aged people and cannot think that we did anything to offend or justify being treated like this.
Very rude, unwelcoming, miserable people who own it, not a kind word or smile in the 5 days we were there.
Wish we had taken notice of the reviews and not bothered going there but we really didn't think it could be that bad. Needless to say we will not be visiting again, shame, given the nice location next to the river.

There are a number of negative reviews for this site, which is a real pity. Yes, the owner was rather brusque with us when we arrived because we allegedly parked in the wrong place to enable us to check in, although there was no notice to say where to park, and there was a potential issue re. the Saturday newspaper that we wanted to order, but both of these problems were quickly and successfully resolved.
We were advised to use a hardstanding as the potential of flooding was high. Because of this and previous floods the facility block was perhaps not as tidy as it could have been, but it was always clean (even though it was a bank holiday weekend and a busy site)and quite adequate, with very hot showers (note to owners - could you put in a few bath mats so that we don't get cold feet?).
There were plenty of toilets and showers. The site is very good value at only £13 inc. Hook- up, and no charge for the dog. It is an exceptionally quiet site - no noise from the pub and no traffic noise. The river is just the other side of the hedge (usually!)with excellent walks. The pub is on the site and offers good basic food (but sadly doesn't admit dogs).
All in all we had a lovely weekend and the landlady was very pleasant when you took the trouble to get to know her. Nearby are Gloucester and Tewkesbury.

Just stopped at this site on the off chance with my little boy and our spaniel in a 2 man teepee (we were all in the teepee not just the dog!). The pub and campsite are in a secluded location literally over the road (quiet) from the River Severn and the pub looked pleasant with `A` frame benches both outside and on the river bank.
As previous comments have said, the gentleman who booked us in tutted and um`d and r`d before eventually asking me to complete the registration form. There was plenty of space and after talking to a number of campers who turned up after us found they were treated in the same way.
The essential facilities on site are quite good with a number of showers down the one side and loos on the other plus 3 urinals at the one end and hand basins at the other.
There is a huge field adjoining with electric hookup all the way round so really it is better suited to Motorhomes and Caravans.
There is no play area for children although the resident ducks seemed to keep the kids entertained but they were also very noisy at night, the ducks that is.
If you want to walk along the river there is the `Severn Way` and we walked up to the Hawbridge Inn at Turley which took us a little under an hour. This pub does have a children's play area to the delight of Sam.
We decided to walk back early and give the pub at the campsite a go. The beer was not bad and considerably more pleasant than the service with not a please, thank you or smile in sight. Even the dog got told off for sitting next to me on the bench!
With the kids imminently back in school after this weekend I was looking forward to some `dad` time with our 8 year old and really wish I hadn`t chosen The Red Lion. Such a pity considering it`s location and potential.

I rang in advance to see if we could stay for 2 nights over bank holiday weekend, was told there were pitches available and just to turn up before 6pm no need to leave details. When we turned up I was told by a very surly guy that they were fully booked. I said I'd rung earlier in the day and told just to turn up and a booking form was thrown in front of me with absolutely no verbal communication. There were a number of available pitches.
The location is quite nice and we had a decent pitch but the wardens have zero social skills.
Ladies toilets and showers are just ok but my hubby said the gents were not nice.
Went for a hike along the severn way - quite nice but very overgrown in places.
This site is cheap but I would not recommend it or return simply because of the rudeness of the warden.
